This chain is my grandma's go-to spot for Mexican food in her area. They serve large portions, have a decent happy hour and the service is always exceptionally friendly. The chips and salsa are pretty damn tasty here. They make them in-house and you can watch them creating the tortillas throughout the night when you walk into the restaurant. The salsa is on the mild/hot side, but they also give you a side of refried beans smothered in cheese if you want something a little bit less drastic. It's addictive and never-ending, so if you don't watch out, you'll be full before your entree comes. For food, I went with their two crispy burrito combo that came with a huge heaping side of beans and rice. The burritos were more like flautas and came with a big glob of sour cream and guacamole. The avocado was pretty delicious. After gorging myself with the chips and salsa situation, I didn't have a whole lot of room for my dinner. I did finish at least one and a few bites of the beans and rice and they were pretty tasty. Just be careful, the plates are super hot. Because it was her birthday, we had to celebrate with a margarita. I went with the the Sunset which came with muddled oranges, 1800 tequila, orange Curacao, triple sec, orange liqueur, and their house margarita mix. I opted for the medium size which was 18 oz and it was more than plenty. In fact, I was having a great little buzz halfway through the meal and had to pace myself with some water to balance it out. The restaurant offers a large patio for when the weather is nice, however the view isn't anything too fantastic as it's close to the busy street. But if you want a chance to sit outside when you have the opportunity, I'm sure locals will find every reason to take it when they can. Being used to the amazing Mexican fare we have on almost every street corner here in Orange County, I have to say it's not as good or authentic. But, for the area, it's some of the better of the cuisine that you'll find if you want something south of the border! read more

Been coming here for years. Food is usually good, waitstaff is better than average, but management is terrible. Recently I went in and ordered the Molcajete bowl with my S.O. Got to the bottom of the bowl and found a plastic bread bag clip in my mouth. When confronted, the waitstaff told me it was a clip from their tortilla bag, and shrugged it off like no big deal. No offer for compensation or anything. The last time I went in (this past weekend), they charged my credit card twice for the same meal. I've been back two times now over this and the manager says the bank only put a hold on the card and that the funds would be returned. That was a week ago. He is wrong and refuses to help me. I've been eating here for over 20 years, am a regular customer, and will never go back again. The management has no interest in taking care of their customers. I've contacted my bank and will be waiting for them to correct Puerto Vallarta's mistake in charging me twice for the same meal. Shameful that they don't care about their customers. Freshly built building. Staff is friendly and does well with special requests. Food is just a touch better than a typical Mexican restaurant. Can't really compare it to other places because it is the only Mexican restaurant in town. I don't like that liquor prices are not on the drink menu. Now for the bad news. I love the family running this business! They do their best and your satisfaction is very important to them. Food is always hot when delivered. They literally have the best Sopa De Pollo ( grilled chicken soupwith torillas, avocado and cilantro). Great for washington fall/winter weather!! Another fabulous meal at this fabulous Mexican restaurant it's so funny coming from California I would find the best Mexican food this far from Mexico had the chicken and shredded beef enchiladas. It's my favorite even got it to go and it was great at home so hot so fresh absolutely delicious always. If you get a Made to go and you want fresh chips make sure you ask for fresh chips they do pre-bagged chips to be given out with the to go meals and they sometimes have been a bit stale but that's the only complaint I have for this fabulous restaurant terrific people it's always so clean and just the best food. First time trying this place as I am from California, a family member raved about this place so much i had to give it a try before leaving back home. I'm so glad i ate here before leaving! I had a burrito ranchero with carne asada, the burrito was massive filled with generous portions of carne asada which most restaurants dont do! The meat was nice and juicy as well as flavorful, I am a picky eater and my meat must be trimmed of all fat, I usually find myself destroying a whole burrito because I'm too busy picking out the fat instead of enjoying my food, however this time around I was able to finally enjoy a good burrito. My boyfriend had the chimichanga with shredded beef, rice beans on the side, another burrito that did not disappoint filled with flavor and beef perfectly cooked and seasoned, they were also very generous with their avocado which we all loved. My brother had 2 hard tacos and a enchilada with shredded beef accompanied by rice and beans as for my brother in law he had the huevos rancheros another delicious plate. This place is a gem, their chips and salsa are addicting you will be asking for more! I can't wait to come back to WA so I can eat here again. read more

This place has to be improved greatly! I live in California and Mexican food is so much different here than there! The food is rushed and does not have that much taste! I got sick off of the chalupa and chile relleno, which could mean a bunch of things, but definitely means I will not be coming back. The service was not very impressive as it was basic and felt like we were not the guest at the restaurant. The good thing is the homemade tortillas being made as you walk in though! It's also in a great location right off of the Kingston ferry en route to the beautiful towns on the peninsula. Wow, this place is great! Went here for the first time last night. We had a large party with a bunch of kids and they seated us in a back part of the restaurant all by ourselves (always nice to not have to worry that you're bothering the people next to you). Their website says "Family Friendly, bring the kids!" They're not kidding, this was perfect for us. I wish I remembered the server's name, because he was incredible, hands down, the best service I've ever had anywhere. I swear, the guy was a mind reader. Drink refills seemed to appear out of nowhere, empty plates disappeared and the condiments we wanted arrived without even asking. At the end of the meal, he brought ice cream cones for all of the kids. (If restaurant management reads this, the server who had the party of 12 around 3pm on 12/26 deserves a raise) On top of the stellar service, the restaurant itself is beautiful and the food was delicious. The kids menu has enough options to satisfy the pickiest eater and they even have kids' margaritas and pina coladas (why should the adults get all the fun drinks?). I ordered carne asada and an enchilada. I'm not sure what they put in the enchilada sauce, but it was delicious. The carne asada was cooked and seasoned perfectly. All of that at a decent price. It was good but not great. We've had better but we've also had far far worse. I had enchiladas Verde with chicken. They were pretty good. The rice was tasty but a little mushy. More then I could finish in one sitting so I have another meal. My husband had the steak fajita burrito. He said it was very good and liked my rice. He also couldn't finish it and has another meal. Very nice decor inside and appeared clean. Wait staff was friendly and attentive and accommodated a food restriction on my part. A-okay average Mexican food. Huge platters with rice and beans, sauces, and melty cheese. Very Americanized. Nothing wrong with this if you know what to expect. The margaritas are pretty good but are made with a sweet and sour mix so they are very sweet. We got the Sunset margarita which ended up being $13.50 for 18 oz. Considering the size of the drink it's not an outrageous price but it would be nice if they listed the prices on the menus so you know what to expect. Chips and salsa are ok. One of the few restaurants in Kingston Washington. We were here visiting my partners family and we went out to eat on a Saturday night. Now Kingston has a limited selection of places to eat, but Puerto Vallarta is a little slice of goodness. The fare is your average americanized mexican food, however they offer a bountiful bowl of fresh chips, with salsa and refried beans as you are waiting for your meal. I had their ground beef enchiladas while my partner had the chicken tacos. The chicken tacos were sliced chicken breasts seasoned before slicing. My enchiladas were tasty, but nothing special. Service was impeccable, with the wait staff coming in at just the right time, and keeping the chips and salsa filled. The portions were big, and several boxes of leftovers came home with us. Price point was very reasonable. If you are in Kingston and want some mexican fare, Puerto Vallarta is a good bet. read more

Picked up a to-go order this evening. I ordered 3 carne asada tacos on corn tortillas, got 3 ground beef tacos on flour. I ordered a side carne asada taco on flour with no pico and no avocado slices and got a fried corn tortilla with ground beef. I also ordered the Chimichanga y mas with a enchilada en crema, but got a regular enchilada with no crema. I even asked if I could choose the enchilada or if there was a specific one that came with the meal, she said I could choose any enchilada. $60 wasted. Puerto Vallarta is a chain of family Mexican restaurants in Washington. We stopped here after hanging out on the beach at Point No Point. They serve corn chips and salsa on the table, but they also bring out refried beans and a spicy chunky veggie salsa. So you're full before the food comes. Inside is bright, ceiling fans spinning, traditional Mexican music playing. Lots of room, and big heavy solid wood furniture. We ordered kids meals for the boys (served with fries and jungle crackers and fanta). We had steak fajita salad, spinach enchiladas, and steak picado. Too much food for the six of us, but everything was well-seasoned. The veggies and chips were fresh. Only one thing I didn't like: the mushrooms on the fajita salad were raw and not grilled with peppers, onions, and steak. But that's a nit - the service was good, it was big enough for the boys to yell without disturbing too many others, and it was fast. read more

Typical faire done well, and huge platter-served combos. Lots for your buck! We were so happy with Saturday night (we split an enchilada plate and it was plenty)dinner came in on a Sunday for lunch(because the Flying Pickle was closed *sad face*)and found out there was the Sunday Brunch Buffet for $12.95. Tons of breakfast and lunch items. And some fairly decent options on the lunch side for the veggie/Pescatarian crowd. Non-alcoholic drinks are included with the buffet price. Bring a second stomach because, as if the portions alone aren't big enough, they are very generous with the pre-meal chips, salsa and beans! We wish we lived in Kingston just to enjoy this place more....well our waistline might not approve. (and the numerous other locations are still not near us) The hooked us on their Chips+Salsa+Refried Beans+Pico de Gallo. We've entertained the thought of just coming in for this and then walking out without ordering since we are already too full to eat a meal. The meals are also abundant and tasty! However, nothing stands out as memorable but part of that may be due to being so distractedly full from the addictive chips. So....our entrees are enjoyed as reheated leftovers. (still pretty good) Room in the far back is a little alone/dark feeling...but it didn't help that we were the only ones in there and it was decorated for halloween. Been coming here since they opened 20 years ago. Quality is ramping down while prices ramp up. Quesadilla was not "grilled", steak was cold and the fat on it was pretty gross on the tongue, cheese was all globbed unmelted in the very middle middle. If you can tell by the picture the guacamole (which you're forced to order extra of because the amount they give you is REALLY stingy!) is a grayish green that looks more like baby poop and full of tomatoes and onions which make it watery and gross. I imagine they put tomatoes and onions in the guacamole to cheapen the cost. But they don't charge any less! So this terrible appetizer cost me before tax $20.75. Yes that includes the price of the extra guacamole, but like I said you are forced to order extra because they only give you about 2 tablespoons on the plate for the entire quesadilla. All in all 1 Star for the quality received for the price paid. The girl who took my to go order and made change never counted back the change to me after I gave her $100 bill, and she shorted me $10. Lucky I counted it myself before leaving. She also stated that she never eats there because the prices are so high! read more

I have eaten here several times, both in their old location next door and their new one in their very nice building recently constructed. The food is ok. Highly Americanized, way too much cheese but if you look hard enough and ask, you might get a bit of traditional food. I wouldn't say that I'm a fan, it's not a place I would go out of my to eat at, but it's okay and it's there if I ever don't feel like cooking at home, so I can only give it 3 stars, it's A-OK. Service has always been wonderful for me and the place has always looked and smelled clean. The bar is a bout rowdy sometimes, but it's their cash cow so I get why their new one is so large. The addition of the tortilla machine at the front is pretty cool, my wife works at a local grocery as a tortilla baker who has the same machine, so I know how they are made and what is in them, but it's a really cool attraction and nice to see. The decor is pretty cool, but the acoustics seem a bit off in there. On my last visit with family, my daughter ordered steak, asked for it rare, it came well done. This has happened to me in the past as well and, for me, is just a sign of a scared chef or cook in the back that doesn't want to send out something raw or get someone sick, so they just overcook it. But, she paid for a steak and was asked how she wanted it cooked, if you're going to ask, you have to deliver. My go-to meal there is the Aroz con Pollo, which is always cooked well and served with corn tortillas. They have frequent lunch deals which are nice if you work locally and need to pop in for a bargain lunch that will fill you up. If you've got nowhere else to go, which happens a lot in Kingston, not a lot of choice, then you will typically get what you pay for and will leave satisfied. They have a new building next to their last location with a new tortilla machine where they make them right in front of you oh so super fresh! Portion size was big but the meal was....so-so at best. Horchata was watered down and didn't have much of a cinnamon taste at all. I ordered the asada y mas (which was new on the menu)....no bueno! While the meat was flavorful, it was more fat than meat AND I had to ask for my flour tortillas. My girlfriend had the enchiladas en crema. Sour cream sauce good, meat wasn't. Again a big portion but not what I expected. On the bright side, the strawberry margarita she ordered was pretty good (top 5 I've ever tasted) and the flour tortillas were pretty good. If you're looking for good drinks, good atmosphere and decor, this would be a good place to come. If you want good Mexican food, go somewhere else or order something different. read more

Absolutely OUTSTANDING Mexican food! (And I'm damned picky about it; best I've had since escaping from being raised in San Antonio a half-century ago.) Bodacious luncheon buffets every day, with extra goodies on Sundays. We've eaten there half a dozen times now, and will be returning regularly. Service is good to excellent. Atmosphere, servers, and music (which is NOT too loud) are definitely authentic. Prices tend to be high (buffet's the best deal!), but they're worth it - especially if you like really excellent Mexican food. read more
