Wonderful pastry place. Everything is made from scratch and made daily. Had to stop by since we were in town. Saw this place on tv, The Baker Sisters, and was eager to try it out myself. We ordered their lemon brownie and chocolate Almond croissant. It was so hot point, not too sweet but just the right amount of chocolatey flavor. We enjoy exploring on foot any new cities we visit and finding gems along the way and this was certainly one of them! The biggest dilemma was choosing a treat from the dozens of delectable offerings behind the glass. I eventually chose the pie (I wish I could remember the name) but it was basically a cream of broccoli wrapped in the flakiest pastry you can imagine. The pastry flakes just melts in your mouth, and then you are met with the creamy, cheesiness of the insides... There is no better feeling than getting blasted with delicious smells of the bakery as soon as you walk in. The interior is SO beautiful and so trendy! It has a beautiful white elegant walls with a nice blend of brick and wooden designs. Simple and cozy but beautiful. On the other side of the beautiful interior, there is an even more beautiful display. A massive display of baked goods. There is everything you can even imagine and wish for! After being indecisive for about 15 minutes, I finally settled on a slice of carrot cake (as recommended by staff) and an almond croissant. The carrot cake came as a massive slice with a big glob of cream cheese icing. It was super moist, not too sweet, slightly crumbly and had good textures. **vegan friendly** I went to this location after going to their Whistler branch knowing that they would have at least one vegan option. Here they had at least four that I could find! Just like the Whistler shop, everything looked great and service was friendly. Vegan its were labeled which made it easy to determine what I could eat which was great. The service was great and I liked how they offered to help but didn't pressure you. I ended up getting a blackberry coconut scone on recommendation and it was delicious. Next time I think I will get the raspberry rhubarb biscuit (see picture). Thanks pure bread for having vegan options! Highly recommend if you are looking for a treat in gastown. read more

Having wanted to check them out ever since I first got to Vancouver, I didn't have an actual opportunity to do so until the day of my flight, so, uh, I may or may not have gotten onto the plane with half a dozen pastries in various states of consumption. Among these, however, their chocolate chip brownie was the one that stood out the most, by far. That's not to say the others weren't good though: their scones, muffins, crack bar, butter tart, and outrageous brownie were also quite tasty, but I'd go back just for the CCB alone. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - The pastries are in behind a regular height counter display, and should, for the most part, be visible if you're in a seated position. Purebread has a huge array of selection! from savoury to sweet pastries. Seating looks limited but the shop is pretty deep! So don't be deceived. When we arrive at 10:30am it was packed so we decided to do take away. I was craving something savoury and I was debating between the croissant with ham and cheese or chili cheddar corn bread... the server recommends the corn bread and I am very happy for the recommendation because it was exactly what I want. The corn bread has roasted chili on it with small bites of corn. The corn bread has a bit sweetness to it but definitely savoury because of the cheese! For sweet we got the apple turnover, lemon sugar buns, and ooey gooey chocolate bars. Apple turnover has the right sweetness and the pastry is crispy and very fresh! The lemon sugar bun was good but can get very very messy with the sugar, the lemon was creamy but I wish it was a bit more tart. The ooey gooey chocolate bar was VERY VERY sweet! eat it with a cup of tea or a black coffee to balance. To make the chocolate bar to be ooey gooey, microwave it for a few seconds (15 sec) and all the chocolate will be melted and will give you the ooey gooey you wish for! beware, very sweet. read more

Can someone open Purebread in Socal??? Or maybe don't, because I will gain 20 lbs easily. We came at around 8.30 AM on Sunday and it wasn't that crowded, but there was a good amount of people. The moment you entered the shop, you can smell it's a pastry heaven. Just don't go too hungry because you will want everything you see, even me, who wasn't that hungry, I wanted everything!! I decided to get the lemon blueberry scone, husband got the chocolate almond croissant, and sister got some kind of egg muffin. Of course I gotta try theirs too. The egg muffin taste like pizza! The chocolate croissant is divine (and I usually don't like chocolate!). It's not too sweet, and the buttery crusty croissant just melts in my mouth. The scone is so good! I had no idea this place existed until I walked past during a morning wander on a recent weekend visit to Vancouver. Being the pastry lover that I am, I was pulled inside instantly. My jaw may have hit the floor when I walked in, and judging by the look on the face of one of the employees, I'm guessing it was a fairly normal response from people when they lay eyes on the goods. Not only is the display a feast for the eyes, but the range of pastries, cakes, scones, frittatas and tarts are wider than I've seen anywhere. No lie - this is the best bakery I've ever set foot in, and I'm dreaming of getting back to Vancouver, with Purebread as my no.1 destination. I selected a few treats to take back to my family, and nobody could agree which to try so we had to cut each one into portions! We had the Sticky Pecan Twist, Mince Tart, Caramelized Banana Brownie, White Chocolate & Raspberry Scone, and Strawberry Rhubarb Buttermilk Biscuit (pictures). You just can't go wrong with Purebread. There are so many options, both sweet and savoury, you will definitely find something you like. I had the earl grey scone which was awesome, and massive! I also had an iced decaf americano which was great and another generous portion. (Also nice they have glasses if you are planning to eat in, so you don't end up using a plastic cup for no reason.) The interior is nice and big with plenty of seating, although it was quite busy when we were there on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Drove by and made my husband stop so I could jump out! They had a window display full of delicious eats and I ended up getting some savories and sweets. I was expecting to be wowed by the sweets but it was the savories that were the most memorable and delicious. The Budgie pie was amazing with a potato, chicken and goat cheese interior and a flakey pastry crust. We also enjoyed the ham and cheese pastry. I have been buying at Purebread in Whistler and Function Junction for years. I am very sad that the new ownership has already cheapened their ingredients and quality. In particular the buckwheat sour cherry scones that we have been buying fresh and frozen (to bake at home) no longer look or taste the same - more like a corn bread scone with very few cherries. There is a hint of the old flavor profile, but not at all the same. Sadly I will probably stop purchasing and go to BRED in Creekside instead. read more

Purebread is one of the places I wanted to try for a long time. Pastries aren't something I usually get 'cause it's a snack and I don't go far out to get snacks plus meals are filling enough (usually). My coworker wanted an afternoon snack. We came around 3pm and there were one or two persons ahead of us. We both a almond croissant and a crack bar to share. Holy moly that crack bar (is inspired by crack pie from milkbar) but I personally think it's better (5/5). Sweet but not overly sweet where you don't want another bite. The crust is made with oatmeal so you can rest assured and not feel so guilty. Almond croissant (1.5/5), though, was not good. It was dry and unpleasant to eat. It didn't have that flakiness a croissant's supposed to have. It was very sweet for a croissant. read more

This place has a wide selection of breads and pastries - croissants, bars, scones, muffins, buns - you name it. However I go to specialty bakeries not for selection but for taste and the two items I ordered - the crack bar (a recommended item!) and blueberry scone (~$9) - were below average and left unfinished. The crack bar did not have the same consistency as the Momofuku crack pie filling (which I assume this is based off due to the speculoos base) and did not taste good. The blueberry scone completely lacked sweetness and was on the harder side. The interior is hip but small and they also serve coffee. I hear the best thing is the chocolate almond croissant, which sold out before I got there. If I come again I'll try that one. read more

Visited the Whistler location and was overwhelmed by all of the delicious items. I filled a box of goodies for the fam for breakfast and everything was fresh, moist and delicious. Fantastic little bakery located in Gastown near Cambie. We walked in just looking for something sweet and a coffee after grabbing breakfast nearby, and were blown away by the pastry selection. I ended up trying the peach and rosemary danish which was incredible, especially warmed up. We also grabbed a butter tart which was to die for. Staff was great in helping us pick things, I think we seemed a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Coffee was also pretty good, if a bit more acidic than I like. If you want a super awesome chocolate chip cookie, you need to visit Matchstick Coffee Roasters. I've been searching for a better chocolate chip cookie experience, but have yet to find one. It's that good. Their apple pie is good. Their bread is good. The service is otherwise good with great free samples. They also have yummy sandwiches. Gastown location: you need to do better in the way you serve your customers in the right order. Get a number system or a separate counter for people who want drinks only. A rude person bypassed me to the counter and got drinks only. I was there first and knew my order long before he jumped the line. Before that, an employee was on the phone not giving anyone eye contact or acknowledging people coming in, just got the person making coffee at the back to come take our orders who had no clue who was next. Anyways people can be jerks but it's up to you to figure out the best and fair way to serve your customers. I was walking around Gastown with a friend, when we googled nearby bakeries, and Purebread came up. We walked over, joined the line up, and admired the variety of baked goods for sale. You had brioches, scones, buns, pies, cakes, loaves, sandwiches, loaves of bread, etc, etc, etc. My eyes lit up like a little kid in a toy store. I bought a slice of a blueberry loaf, which was incredibly moist, but not heavy, and extremely delicious. My husband had the almond croissant, which he devoured, noting afterwards that it was a good croissant. It's a bit pricy ($4 for each item), but for the quality of the food item, I think it was worth it. Fast, friendly service. They go through a line quite efficiently. Credit card accepted.
