Honestly my moving experience was a disaster. Not only did moving a 1 bedroom apartment, that I completely packed on my own take 9hrs to move down the street, but the movers also destroyed both of my TVs , and dresser during the process. I thought it was best to have the movers call their boss once I knew that a 3 hr move was going to be delayed, along with the damaged furniture, but I was totally wrong. Their manager was completely unprofessional and condescending throughout the entire call. I was questioned if I had financial problems and couldn't afford the 9hr move?! I wish he was joking but was completely serious. None of the TVs were wrapped so my TV screens cracked. After speaking with him, I finally was able to talk to someone above him, who offered a partial refund. At the very least it was a horrible service and experience, but I appreciate the owner trying to be sympathetic to a situation that couldn't be changed. Side note to the readers, I used Costa Mesa Moving Company in the past, they are a night and day difference. I was in a rush and had to use Purely Move. Costa Mesa Moving Company has a significantly better rate and the movers are faster, more prepared and careful. Purely Move reminds me of how shady Used Car Dealer operates, strong arming and rushing customers into paying for fees and rate calculations that were never disclosed up front. #worst move ever. When dealing with a local moving company, it's always a gamble. The 4 man moving crew led by leadman Vincent, was awful. Toward The end, not wanting to deal with carrying boxes upstairs, they just left them all in the garage regardless of how they were marked, "master closet,kitchen etc" They stripped screws on the bed when trying to put it back together and so just left it partially assembled. The headboard propped against the wall and the drawers jammed in I later found the missing parts in - you guessed it - the garage. They placed heavy boxes of books clearly labeled on top of clearly marked boxes, ultimately breaking glassware 50+ years old. When I found the wall thermostat in two pieces on the floor, Vincent and the others claimed no knowledge of how it got there. There's more, but you get the point. After the move, I called and asked to speak to management. Jon, asked me to please not to post pictures online or a bad review that could potentially hurt this "family owned" business. He advised he would send a different crew out to repair the bed properly and pay for any damages. The same crew came out instead but I was not expecting any kind of apology and was not disappointed. There ony excuse was "The LA crew gets all the good tools" Did I mention, they attempted to over charge me because they left late to the move but did not advise the office? I did reach out again to JON inquiring how to go about having the damaged items paid for but never heard back from him again. At first, setting an appointment and moving process went well, smooth and was handled within a reasonable amount of time. However, when Zach got involved things quickly took a turn for the worse. From the start Zach seemed to be abrasive and unwilling to communicate with me and was very pushy, which made me feel uneasy. As the conversation progressed I began to realize Purely Moves pricing was not as upfront as I had been led to believe. When I questioned Zach, he began to force the inflated total on me by stating that he would keep the clock running until I pay him. Despite my best efforts to address this issue with Zach, he refused to listen or make any adjustments. This company lacks transparency and and based on the other reviews Zach has a tendency to bully customers into paying for charges that are not disclosed up front. I was forced to pay the amount and was left feeling disappointed, frustrated and taken advantage of. I wasted my time and money on someone who was not professional and lacked integrity. I've procrastinated writing this review for many months because it makes me sick to relive our horrible experience. So, in August 2022 our 3 mile move from a 1-bdrm apt to a 2-bdrm apt became a nightmare which resulted in: a completely destroyed dresser; the loss of a valuable and meaningful diamond earring; being charged $135/hour for 2 movers but receiving a mover and a helper who let the real mover do all of the work (which stretched out the time); other fraudulent charges that we had no choice but to pay since they were holding our last items hostage; 2 dents in our refrigerator; a chipped nightstand; A LOT of additional post-moving day work; and rude, unprofessional treatment from Zach, the owner. At some point during the move the helper told me they were ready to move my dresser. I asked him if he wanted me to take the drawers out (I planned to put them w/the things we were personally moving) but he said they were going to shrink-wrap the entire dresser. I said "oh, will this be safe since I have personal stuff that I don't want bouncing or flying around?". He said everything would be fine b/c the shrink wrap would hold all of the drawers and the dresser together and everything would be safe. Trusting that he knew what he was talking about, I listened to him (big mistake). When I got to the new apt, I was told that the dresser "exploded". The drawers were on the floor and all of my personal belongings were scattered around and thrown into different drawers (as if a tornado had blown through the apt) and the remaining parts of the dresser were on the balcony. I instantly thought of my 3 earrings that I normally wear every day and I immediately started looking for them (a set of diamond butterflies and a half carat diamond stud), all of which were valuable and very meaningful. As I was looking amongst the wreckage for my earrings, my boyfriend went outside and also started looking (stuff had been falling out on the stairs); he found one of the butterflies on the welcome mat next door. Later that night I thankfully found the other butterfly tangled up in some strings inside a drawer, but my diamond earring has never been found. I even had someone from Ring Finders come over and look for it with his equipment. Back to moving day, I called my "sales rep" (a smooth-talking liar) to ask if he had been informed about what happened. He said he hadn't and that he would have the owner call me. Zach called shortly after but not b/c of the dresser. He wanted money. He didn't care about my dresser or earrings. He blamed the manufacturer of the dresser (a recurring theme of pointing the finger found in other reviews). He said the total cash price of the job was $1,087 (not including the $100 deposit). I was shocked and bewildered to say the least. We were paying cash (otherwise we'd be charged an extra $15/hour) so instead of trying to figure out why it was so much, my bf went to the bank to get more cash. As soon as he got back, he received a call from Zach saying that we actually owed more!? We just wanted this nightmare to end so he went back to the bank. Still on the clock, we were being charged for Zach's inability to calculate the "correct" fraudulent number while the movers were hard at work sitting in the truck waiting to get paid so they could then unload the last of our hostage held items. There are many other unprofessional occurrences but destroying my dresser, which resulted in the loss of a very special earring that I'll never get back, and financially ripping us off is bad enough. But to top it off, Zack's incredibly ugly behavior of taking ZERO responsibility by completely ignoring our claim (which included a rational and very fair letter, the claim form, and photos sent via certified mail + email) and follow ups is pretty sick. If this doesn't tell enough, I recommend sorting their Yelp reviews by lowest and paying attention to what this company has done to people. You can also check out their F rating on the BBB website. I'm not sure what happened to their hundreds of google reviews which were mainly fake 5 stars but there's a lot of fishy stuff about this company. Unfortunately, it's only after this painful event that I have learned what qualifies as a legitimate and trustworthy moving company. Not sure what's going on over there at the office but this 1-star would be zero if the option was available. I haven't even been able to speak to or get a reply from anyone at the company. I contacted them originally via the website for a quote. Gave my info, and got the automated response email the next day saying someone would contact me. It's now been 3 days, and even called yesterday late afternoon, and again today I was on hold for almost 15 minutes and still no one answered. Jessie, The ETA on my contract was 10 am. Your crew didn't show up until almost 4 pm. Nobody informed me when I was signing contract that if my start time is anything but 8 am you show up whenever you want. Zach even admitted in his phone call that someone should have let me know that. If I would know from the beginning, I would never even hire your company for my move. Last thing on the move day I need is to stress waiting for the movers and trying to get ahold of someone to see where they are at. If you are expecting people to sit and wait 6 hours packed shocked that moving crew is not showing up in time a spam calling, then it shows the quality of your company and customer service even without my review. Our move was well executed . The movers were friendly and helpful and all of our items were treated with respect. This would be a 5 star review, but I have a minuscule claim for a few broken pieces of crystal. I cannot get anyone to let me know if they have received my claim. I have been trying to communicate with Zack who doesn't bother to take the time to respond. I also sent emails and left a phone message which was returned, and I was told Zack would call me back the same day. Still waiting 2 weeks later. Their phone system puts you on hold for 10 minutes before you can leave a message. Communication is not this company's strength. I think this was once a good company but they have gone downhill. They have good reviews overall but my experience was awful. -They broke my desk and 85" TV due to irresponsible packing in their truck. -They cracked my TV screen creating a huge line going through the entire screen and the $2800 TV had to be replaced -I was patient trying to resolve this with them and there's nothing they can do without talking to the owner, Zach. -It's near impossible trying to get ahold of Zach, I called their number everyday for weeks and the nice sales people tell me he will call me back but I could only get ahold of him once. -The owner, Zach, refuses to take responsibility for ruining my TV and is only willing to pay 60 cents per pound, which is $60 for a $2800 TV. Wow! He said he would "work with me on the TV" but I didn't realize that meant covering 2% of the item's value. Also he tried to blame it on the quality of the TV saying that they don't make TVs like they used to and they are more prone to breaking. Look, they ship these TVs overseas in the same exact box that Purely movers handled. Not sure I would call that reasonable. Zach- if you're reading this, I'm willing to talk if you're willing to make things right. Otherwise, this is all I have to say: I regret booking my move with this company. Used this company because my daughter used them in her move. All was going great until they were taking my tv's off and did not have the correct tools to do so. We had to get tools from our neighbor. We gave them directions to our new house and they responded yes ma'am. They got lost. They went approximately 1.5 hours in the wrong direction. So they didn't listen to the directions and then they were in a hurry when they got to the correct location and threw everything in the garage. We had a couple of mishaps with some items that I thought they would be taking care of but it has been over a month and still have broken items. I call and call and no one calls me back. I have received emails but each time the email changes how they are fixing the broken items. I just want to be able to finish setting up my house, and now it looks like I will have to fix the broken items myself. As a returning customer, I am beyond Disappointed and Pissed off!! Well since no one wanted to respond to me in regards with my claim and phone calls and emails. Fine I'll do leave a Yelp review. I was trying to be nice and not post this but I feel intentionally ignored. It's been over a week, since the move and been following up. NO RESPONSE so much for customer service. First time doing business with Purely move was a good experience (7 mos ago) moving a 2 BR from a house to 2 BR Apt. Foreman - I believe it was Isaiah + Crew Aaron and Dylan. They made sure all furniture was wrapped plastic and blanket. Even the little baskets etc, and other miscellaneous just put in plastic bags with consent. I even did what they recommended back then for this month's move. 2nd Time (This month) Foreman (Khary) + crew Damian. Foreman should've been more responsible, if he needed to be supervised then he shouldn't be your foreman. Things were not handled as properly. Bed and Headboard: Bed was disassembled per crew which I am grateful for. But I can tell you they did not do a good job on it. Parts of the bed were dangling when they were trying to remove from origin BR. Obviously, rushing "to save time". However, origin apartment personnel called me and said there is a Ding on the door frame of origin bedroom and I have attached a photo. (Photo: courtesy of them) Dining Table leg cap: I personally disassembled Dining Table as I DON'T WANT IT TO BE DAMAGED SINCE IT IS BRAND NEW. Put the table legs together so its easy for them to wrap it all together BUT NO. One of the cap for the legs went missing. I checked the whole apartment (origin) and new, foreman's response, "...it probably dropped..." not the response I want since it shouldn't happen if they wrapped it! And if they did, they did not wrap it securely. IF the table was I don't know maybe 2-3 yrs old I wouldn't care. BUT ITS BRAND NEW NOT EVEN 3 MOS OLD TABLE! Bought in April, assembled early week of May, disassembled end of May for June move. Not even used as I'm super busy always at work and my roommate who's barely home. Dining Chair: I have 4 of those (BRAND NEW, BOUGHT IN MAY assembled first week of May) was not wrapped the last time I saw when they took it to the truck. One of the chairs has a scratch and the other has the ding on it. When I was talking to whoever was in charge on the phone when we were wrapping up billing and mentioned to Foreman if he also reported the ding on the chair, him pausing and said, "...I guess we dinged a chair..." and whoever was on the phone said something about did you wrap in a blanket foreman's response, "...This is already awkward..yada yada talk to you later about it..." It is a simple yes or no question, whether you wrapped it or not. So how is that awkward? Awkward due to negligence? Broken Glass: its irreplaceable its not the cost but the sentimental value of it. It's a stupid small piggy bank that broke inside a box with too many stickers of FRAGILE on it. This one I didn't have a chance to take a pic my mom unboxed it and cleaned it already before I could do so. I was too pissed, too tired, and too stressed to dig it up. Mini Fridge: has a scratch on it. I've had it for 3 years and moved one time (with you guys) and it did not get a scratch. Until this Sunday's move (06/12/2022). At the same time, I feel pressured to say YES to just leave the little things out at the origin spot since no more boxes or whatsoever. BUT IT IS IN A BASKET, IN A TRASH BAG, Fans, Yoga mats (rolled and square), other miscellaneous things. I've done it that way, since no issues with previous move. (Painter Canvases not just one or 2..its a good handful and variation of sizes) if I didn't tell them to GO GRAB IT he would've left it there. I don't know if he's just not listening or lazy. Computer monitors - I haven't unpacked this yet BUT I AM really hoping that they're not broken the box is not looking good. I FULLY UNDERSTAND its per hour, and I appreciate the gesture of trying to save me money. I really do. But you are not saving me money when you are rushing the job, and not doing it properly! And my parents are not as happy as I had to asked them to drive from LA to OC just to help me carry the left over stuffs that's already in a basket, box and such. I wished I still had my cameras when this moved (this months) happened and I would be happy to send it you. They're lucky it was down. The first move I still have. Our movers Carlos and Jeff were great. They were very friendly, respectful, did a good job padding/wrapping furniture to protect it during our move from north county to south county, and got it out of our old place/into our new place without issue. When the bed wouldn't fit up the narrow staircase they knew exactly how to get it up/in through the upstairs slider door on the balcony. Same with the fridge, quickly figuring out the best way to maneuver/rotate it around when it didn't initially fit through the kitchen doorway. They were understanding and respectful of safety precautions during this Covid pandemic. I'd definitely recommend Carlos and Jeff as a moving team. Zach was also very on top of things and helpful as we were getting initial quotes and booking our move--he also was immediately on it when I accidentally typed 2202 instead of 2020 when scheduling! The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is it took nearly all of the 3 hour minimum to pad + load + unload a couple couches, coffee table, desk, ikea island/counter, mattress/box spring, a large bookcase, and a coupe end tables. If we'd had lots of boxes, or if my wife and I hadn't already moved on our own the smaller pieces of furniture (bookcases, dinette table, dresser/armoire), TVs, dishes/flatware/glasses/pots/pans, all our clothing, the bed frame, photos/art/decorations, etc... it seems like it would have been a very long and expensive day--especially if we'd utilized the included packing options offered in our quoted rate. It all did indeed fit the bill exactly for what we needed, and was accomplished in the time frame expected. Yes we did do a lot on our own, but hiring a mover--specifically Purely--for the large items was definitely a smart move and we're happy to recommend them. read more

First and foremost these guys are legitimate and awesome! I am all about local small businesses and I love the fact that when I called Purely Move, I was talking directly to one of the owners -- Zach. It was beyond a pleasure speaking with both of the owners (the other being Jessie) and getting to know their company.  Sadly we decided to go with another company for the move because that one provided the packing, boxing, unpacking, etc. But if I was only going to hire a moving company for just a move/disassembly/reassembly, it would hands down be them!! Now here comes why Purely Move is so awesome: I found them on Craigslist of all places. I loved how professional, organized, and clean their Craigslist ad looked; they sounded smart. It was definitely not the average CL post and I can attest to that because I for one when I post on CL, I make sure my ad looks good and doesn't look dumb (i.e. spelling, grammar, etc.). When I called them for a quote I was directly speaking with one of the co-owners as previously stated. Zach was professional and personable at the same time; he didn't come off as someone who didn't care and make it transactional. He knew what he was talking about. Thus making him very knowledgeable (technically Zach and Jessie are knowledgeable after speaking to them both). What I truly appreciated was their honesty. They both told me to look into CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) to see if the companies I was getting quotes from were legit. That site was where I can look up moving/carrier companies to see if they are legitimate and it showed whether or not they were certified movers, licensed, insured, workman's comp, etc. Seriously... it was eye opening and mind blowing! Because one of the companies I was getting a quote from, which I thought was legit, actually was NOT! Again, those are some qualities that are hard to come by nowadays with businesses -- which is being professional and knowledgeable as well as personable and honest. Here comes a nerd analogy!! If we are in Harry Potter's magical world, they are true to 3 out of the 4-Houses of Hogwarts (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw). Boo to people who are Slytherin. In addition after comparing multiple moving company rates, they were not bad. It was just a little higher that what illegitimate/sketchy companies were quoting. Another couple major pluses that got me were: They have a social media platform. Their Instagram (@purelymove) shows how they work and how operations are ran during a move. They also show the CDC safety precautions during this difficult COVID-19 time. That is pure genius to do visual marketing like that! It also makes the prospective client feel like they are getting to know the Purely Move team. The other plus is the owners are actually a part of the move. They are not laying in their backyard hammocks sipping a mai tai (or on a tropical beach somewhere if we were not in a pandemic). They are hard at work and working hard to keep the move CDC friendly. That shows true tender love and care! Again, they are awesome!! They get two-thumbs-up. In the future, if I just have a move, I for sure will be calling them. Used this company last year. They claimed to be a full service, concierge mover. Able to carefully pack, store and move. Turned out little of that was true. Their people had absolutely no experience in packing. Their sole skill was moving boxes. Even properly moving furniture was outside their skill set. In the end, thousands of dollars of our furniture was damaged. Due to improper packaging, boxes of family heirlooms, pictures and belongings were damaged beyond repair. This company is fast to say yes and cash your check. Doing the job and taking responsibility . . . not so much. Our financial advisor recommended this company. The worst costumer service ever. Do yourself a favor and book a different company. The movers were scheduled to show up between 8-9am. Come 9:15, no one was there. Tried calling multiple times, no answer. Tried texting Conner, no answer. My husband tried calling Conner several times, no answer. Finally, at 10am one of the movers called me to tell me something was wrong with the truck and they needed to get a new one. He advised that they would now be there between 11-12pm. I told him that he is the only person who has called, to which he replied "im so sorry, i figured someone would have called you by now". They did not show up until 12:30pm. I arranged my entire day, including my baby, on the assumption that movers would be there between 8-9am. I understand things happen, people are late but for NO ONE to answer their phone or return a text and let me know whats happening is unacceptable. I must have called Conner 20 times, texted him twice to which i got ZERO replies. This company needs to learn communication. Once we got to the new house, a third mover showed up to help unload. This mover was not scheduled by me but they had no problem charging me $100 for him to be there. I ended up paying WAY to much to this company. I would NEVER recommend them. The reason for the 2 stars is because Mark (one of the movers) was so nice and worked so hard. I was in desperate need of movers and I found purely move which had great customer service over the phone and was prompt in showing when they said they would. I would leave 5 stars were it not that the movers took so much longer than my previous company and I was helping the whole time too. Many things were left undone/unwrapped/not put together because the timing ran so far over, I had to ask them to stop. While they were friendly and listened they moved much slower than the company that wrapped all my items drive them to storage and got them stacked in a small space within 2 1/2 hours. My move into my place with purely move cost me over $500. That being said nothing was very damaged and they did show up the day after I requested them which was great. Greatest movers. I regret not re hiring you guys back for my recent move. I definitely will move with guys.

Not recommended at all. These movers went from OK to total disaster in just 1 year. They moved my stuff last year and the move was passable, so I didn't bother complaining about one table leg that was busted in the move. So I asked them to do a similar move this year. Their rate went up a bit, but I had less stuff and helped with moving this time, so I expected this move to cost about same or less. But, not only they charged much more for this move, they also broke several things, costing over $2,000 in damages, for which they have not yet paid 1 penny. They promised to bill only for the actual move time, but then they billed for travel from and to their homes (like they are pricey lawyers), plus for double the drive time. Then they billed me for the time they spent trying to repair the damages they caused, even though the repairs were not completed. Yes, read that again, they charged me for fixing what they broke, and they did not even fix it. Also, I was billed for 2 men (plus a truck), but received services of less than 1.5 men. One mover (who did not wear a mask) spent more than half the time on breaks, smoking, drinking an chatting with neighbors. We often waited for him to help move big items. So this move took much longer than previous one, even though there was less stuff to move. For damages, they proposed to pay 0.60 per pound (!?). This would amount to less than $10 for a $2,000 computer. But computer is not a TV (for which that rate applies). After a long wait with no refund or a response, they had me submit a Cargo Claim form and evidence for their insurance. But after more than 3 months I have not received any response from movers or their insurance. They are completely ignoring me now, so I have no choice but to take legal action to get some refund for damages. But you do have a choice: avoid this Pure Baloney mover. read more

First off when i booked the appointment they guy on the phone said they would show up with all the boxes and packing materials. They only had plastic wrap. I had to provide most of the blankets to wrap my TVs in. They arrived at 8:48AM and worked until 11:30AM which is 2hours and 42 minutes. Then when they took a lunch and arrived at the drop off location at 12:30PM and was dont by 1:30 and additional hour totaling 3 hours and 42 minutes. But they charged me for 4 hours and 45 minutes. We are absolutely over the moon with the job done by the guys at Purely Move. They were on time and very transparent each step of the way. We had a big move from South Orange County to Downtown San Diego and these guys were on top of it. Our movers, Chris and Austin, were so nice and so professional from the time they got to our old residence to the time they left our new residence. They were quick and efficient and made sure we were comfortable the entire moving process. I am a big plant lady, so I had a lot of plants to move too and they offered to help us move the big ones! We had already decided that we were going to move the plants in my husbands truck, but Chris gave us comfort in knowing he could move the big ones for us and make sure they didn't break. Best part it, it turns out Chris and my husband had a college course together many moons ago and were in the same study group - what are the odds?! This made our already great experience even better. On 11/16/22 had Mark, Damien, and a third person, I didn't catch his name :( come to move all my stuff from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom. From the first conversation with all three of them I instantly liked them and I knew they would take care of all my belongings. Recently we moved within 50 miles radius, 2 men crew came on time and they did very well on lifting and dropping off stuff. They have charged double time drive charges. Actually the distance time was an hour but They took 1:45 minutes to reach destination. They took advantage on the double time drive changes. We disappoint on that only but we were satisfied about their work. read more
