Maybe I just went on a really good day, but the BBQ here is exactly what the doctor ordered. The brisket was done PERFECTLY!! and the pulled pork tacos where also fabulous! It's too bad the place is hidden inside the Hyatt Hotel on the river walk, but lucky for me, I tend to notice everything and noticed the small sign that said Q while walking on the river walk. Next time I'm in San Antonio, this is the first place and perhaps the only place I'll be spending my money on food and drinks. Ohhh yeah, I almost forgot, the Margaritas are absolutely DELICIOUS!! The service both in the restaurant and at the bar are also right on point. kudos to Q for a job well done! read more

Best meal I had while on vacation in San Antonio - no joke. I was a little wary since the restaurant is inside the Hyatt (I tend to find restaurants in hotels to be just average) but I must say, this place was AMAZING. Best BBQ I've had in a long time. We did the sampler dinner for two for $32 (included a choice of four meats and two sides) and everything was fantastic. Even the sausages were really tasty and I am not a big fan in general. Plus the food was served with a variety pack of sauces that were also very good. The staff were very friendly and were genuinely happy to have us as dinner guests. Just to clarify this is not a barbecue. It is a bar restaurant in a hotel lobby. The service was great, the atmosphere was very nice quiet and great for a group of a half-dozen people to sit and have conversation. The food was typical for a hotel restaurant. Nothing too creative nothing too exciting. The baby back ribs were smothered in an overly thick, sweet, and overly strong sauce. The beer wine and liquor selection seem to be excellent. But if you're looking for barbecue this is not the place to go there are really only two barbecue items on the menu. The menu is all over the place with pizza salads nachos and nothing really specialty or unique. The service was very good, but could not make up for the generic hotel food. read more

BBQ was A game but how it was paired took it over top, very creative and delicious. I highly recommend trying all 3 tacos. They are $3 each but taste like they should be $8 each. The food is good. The service at the restaurant and the bar both suck. Alot. I was particularly fond of the brisket tacos off the bar menu. Though I usually like my brisket a bit smokier and a tad bit drier than the brisket used in these tacos, the texture and flavor of the taco overall won me over. Great stuff, and only $2.50 each. The downside is how slow the service is, especially at the bar. When I was there for lunch, I seriously waited for 10 minutes or so while the bartender puttered around doing nothing, got another customer a drink, and sorted liquor bottles. When the bartender finally decided to pay attention, things improved for a bit, then generally tapered off. Then, when it came time to pay, both the bartender *and* a manager-type guy (who vaguely resembles a young Will Arnett, with lighter hair...) managed to screw up my tab. They ran my credit card twice, only to turn around and bill my tab to my room. When I tried to point out that they handed me a receipt to authorize billing to my room, the manager-type guy cut me off and insisted that it was for my credit card. He didn't stand down until I pulled the bartender aside and pointed at the part of the receipt that says "THIS IS NOT A CREDIT CARD RECEIPT". The hospitality issues at Q are a real blemish on an otherwise outstanding hotel. read more

So, I'm here on business staying at the Hyatt and I went to the convenient bar/restaurant downstairs in the lobby. I ordered the salad and steak (I had it the day prior). It usually come with fries but since I'm watching my girlish figure I opted for the salad (wrong). The kind woman brought out the salad first. It looked good, then I notice a "fly" flew next to it. So I said to myself, "wow this must be garden fresh if the "fly" is flying near it. I killed him and continued my attempt at eating since I didn't eat ALL day. I poured the dressing on it and took a bite.....I said to myself, "this dressing is gross, but I'm going to it eat it anyway". Well, I guess the roach didn't like it either because he ran out of the salad like a bat out of hell. I alarmed the waitress while trying to hold in the vomit that was coming up. She alerted the manager and I went up to my room to brush my teeth and think about how will I eat my next meal without thinking about what just happened. The manager called and she was SUPER apologetic but it doesn't change the fact that it happened and it shouldn't have happened. This is my first week here (staying for 20+ days), now I gotta find a new "home" because this ain't it. read more

Where do I start with this place? We went on a Saturday evening and had reservations for two @ 7pm. The restaurant was dead considering the size so they only had 3 servers working (although there were about 13 tables full but I counted over 30 available). We had a groupon that provided an appetizer, 2 meals and a dessert. It took about 10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our drink order. She was very nice and let me sample a few beers before making my decision. My wife ordered hot tea because the dinning room was FREEZING. The waitress promised a small kettle of more hot water but we had to remind her about 10 minutes later. Our appetizer choice was meatballs in a tomato sauce w/ goat cheese and a little pita bread. They were a 6/10. For dinner my wife ordered a steak with the "soon to be famous" baked potato and I ordered a "you pick 2" type of dish. I choose the brisket and Korean ribs. When our meal was delivered my wife was not given a steak knife and her steak was served medium rare when we asked for medium well. This was discovered when she just decided to use her butter knife to cut the steak as the steak knife took 10 minutes to arrive, after we had to ask for it. When we sent the steak back she cut into the potato, it was nothing to claim as "soon to be famous." Just your standard loaded baked potato. Her steak came back burnt and tasting like they threw the steak on the grill, placed a weight on it and cooked the crap out of it without even flipping it once. I know MW is cooked a little longer but having made the same steak myself before, this is not the way for it to be served. Her meal gets a 2/10 My order came out better, the Mac and cheese was great and probably the best memory of the entire meal. My Korean ribs were dry but good enough and the brisket was good. My meal was a 7/10. Our dessert choice was the banana cheesecake and after 2 bites my wife and I noticed that it had been frozen and not completely thawed. I stopped one of the managers as my waitress had 5 tables and was unable to pay enough attention to us and told him the cake was still slightly frozen and we wanted something else. As he took the cheesecake, he stopped to talk to the table right next to us!!!!! He clearly knew the other table and took 5 minutes to catch up with that couple while he used his free hand to hold our cheesecake that we wanted taken back!!!! I was very upset and told my wife that was not okay. I flagged down the head manager and he seemed to already know why I flagged him down, I explained the steak was bad, my wife never got the steak knife in proper time and the cheesecake situation. He was very apologetic, stated that most of the staff was new and that he did not want this impression to be the only one we had of the restaurant. He did not take our groupon and asked that we use it again another time. I have no choice but to rate this place so low until we go back. Some of the mistakes should not be had when our bill would have been $75 for two of us. I just don't see how you can charge $25 for a steak, under cook it, then over cook it while not offering a knife. I will post another review once we go back. read more

There are so many restaurants on the river walk that I highly recommend you look elsewhere. The food is so so and the service is soooo slow. It took an hour and a half to bring out our food and when we complained they blamed it on my chicken taking 45 minutes to cook . Then being embarrassed, they offered to comp our meals. However, the manager came out and said they couldn't do that and then awkwardly slinked away. So after being trapped there for over 2 hours, we weren't even comped for a single meal. Even the waiter said that he doesn't like eating at the restaurant and that its wanna be BBQ. Do yourself a favor and stay away! read more

We were visiting San Antonio during their Fiesta celebration and the town was rather too hectic, noisy and crowded for us. Rather than pushing our way through the throngs of people milling up and down the Riverwalk, we decided to 'stay in' one night and eat at our hotel, the Hyatt Regency. We weren't too sure what to expect when we choose to have dinner at Q. It turned out to be an excellent choice and we could not be happier with the food, service, price or ambiance. The staff were pleasant, attentive and professional. The drinks were excellent- I had a Mojito and my husband had a specialized Manhattan. We both ordered the Underbelly menu selection. What great value and delicious food. You get a choice of three different smoked meats, all from locally raised livestock, along with coleslaw and jalapeno bread. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese. Our meals were $15 each for 9 ounces of excellent meat. The mac and cheese was only $5. And the house bread was a German beer bread served with a molasses butter- that alone could have been my meal. We left feeling full, satisfied and very pleased. Worst service I've ever experienced. After waiting a long time to be seated I sat myself at a dirty table. I sat for 30 minutes before I could get someone's attention to bus the table. They just removed the dishes but didn't wipe the table. I placed my order at the same time as they came to bus. My salad and food didn't take too long to come out but the table next to me sat with no food for 40+ minutes. I had to wait for my check for another 30+ minutes after I requested it. Overall, it took over an hour and half to get a salad and potato skins that weren't anything special and cost $20. read more

The service was pretty bad. Our server, Stanley, seemed like he was new and we only saw 3 servers total. The food was good - brisket was super tender and the banana "cheesecake" tasted good but was a far cry from cheesecake. It was more like a whipped pudding. Overall it was decent, but definitely overpriced. If the service hadn't been so bad, I think I would have overlooked the price more. read more

the group i was with were all really excited to try this new place... but we shouldn't have been. first the place was literally empty with the exception of one man eating alone, so you would think our service would be great especially with a table of 6. nope. it took forever and a day to get our drinks, and not to mention they kept forgetting drinks. we had to call our server about 4 or 5 times. ill give them that their brisket tocas and salad with Thai dressing were really good....but that was it. we ordered the platter that had a variety of ribs, well it took a really long time for the food to come out, and thats fine whatever, but when it did come out the ribs were cold! we couldn't even eat them.... we tried a few desserts after complements to the bar manger whom was filling in, who by that way was great, and they were all great but the creme brule.... if you go here go for the salad and brisket tacos, ....don''t expect good service.... ha and i remember never getting our dinner roll that we ordered.... definitely a one star read more
