Why is it so hard to just say kids under 4 eat free? I mean how much can these little guys eat? I understand the need to charge by height because some 8-10 years kids can literally eat like an adult, but 3 year old? Come on. The portion size varies by a bit. Like an order of galbi is 3 pieces, while an order of squid is enough to feed 6 people. You never know what you are going to get into it's too late and you're stuck trying to finish the same dish. My family and I had lunch here when we visited San Jose and everyone left full, satisfied and happy. The combination of kbbq and hotpot was perfect. The good things at this restaurant were the following -- everyone can get his own choice of hotpot and you can eat that while waiting for the kbbq to cook, you get to make your own sauce and there was a wide range of choices and there's mouthwash in the restroom. This used to be one of our favorite spots for Korean BBQ but *SIGH* it seems like the quality of the meat has really gone downhill within the past 6 months. A lot of the meat is tough/chewy now. As another Yelper stated the brisket is not brisket anymore it tastes more like tongue. Not sure why? We were confused when eating it. Anyway I do like how fast the service is here! We were seated immediately, our server came to the table quick, brought our drinks fairly quickly, also changed out our grill plate quite frequently, so that's good. We did NOT like how he turned the heat up without telling us, the meat was cooking so fast it nearly burned! lol. Wtheck. The whole time we had the heat normal then he randomly ramped it up, it made the meat all smokey and cloudy, not in a good way! Turning the heat up made the meal stressful instead of us being able to enjoy our meal with a steady cooking pace. This was not very thoughtful of our server. In addition when my bf asked for a refill of Diet soda, he was brought normal soda and that made him a lil upset because he was thirsty and wanted his new drink. Anyway we used to love this place but now we are not impressed. I will say their portion of meats is a lot larger than Gen for sure. We will be looking for a new Korean BBQ spot. **ALSO** The women's bathroom really BOTHERED me. 2 out of 3 stalls had broken locks. As in the lock cover was completely missing so there's a hole where people can see into the bathroom stalls. WHY has this not been fixed??? The restaurant makes more than enough money to ensure their bathroom doesn't have an entire open hole where someone can see you doing your business. Not cool and seeing people pass by is uncomfortable! I posted a video showing you can literally see in + out of the missing lock holes. This place has definitely gotten better with time. Not to say that it wasn't good before. This is one of my favorite Korean bbq places to eat in San Jose. The food is always great, and it's improved so much over the years. Its almost always super busy so if you have bigger parties, a reservation is a must. And since it's packed in there, go easy on your servers lol. I will say though, that I had the Tom yum soup was perfect in spice and sweetness that I had probably half of the pot - it's a big pot but unfortunately it gave me an awful feeling in my stomach after about three or four soups. We came here on a Saturday night around 6:30 for a party of 8 and didn't have to wait longer than 10-15 min. We chose the KBBQ only option, but they do offer AYCE hot pot for $5 per person extra. I'll breakdown what was good and what was not so good here (KBBQ only): - Banchan (5/5) - honestly hard to go wrong with banchan! They had a solid variety including radish paper, kimchi, potato salad, and seaweed salad. Rice paper was also available on the ordering ipad. - Soju Tower $50 (2/5) We got the passion fruit flavor because it was supposedly a best seller? Honestly it was quite awful in flavor. It was very sour and didn't taste like much. It was definitely strong though, so if you're just looking for the alcohol then still get it, just a different flavor - Finger meat (1/5) Usually I love finger meat but this was just inedible. I ended up having to split out half of each piece as I wasn't able to chew it? -Pork belly (5/5) Pork belly was THE best type of meat on the menu for kbbq. The beef options were all lacking, but the garlic pork belly and pork belly were delicious. -All the other beef options blended together and honestly were just okay for me. After seeing such a high rating for this place, we went here over the weekend on Saturday 4/16 for lunch at 3pm. Assumed it would be another good place for a hotpot/grill combo, but WOW were we wrong! Here's a quick little overview on the negatives. We were seated by the booth closest to the kitchen entrance. 1) The grill and controller to turn the stove on is VERY SLOW at cooking AND one of controllers on my side was broken so it wasn't cooking my food or took forever to cook it. 2) The booths are unevenly spaced from the table compared to the other booths. This meant my side felt very squished for a small girl like me. 3) The waitress didn't teach us how to get the grill and stove started for our hotpots and grill items until 30 minutes into our 2 hour time limit (what a waste of time!). We also had to flag them down to get an update on if the other food items we ordered, like popcorn chicken was coming, but then found out they ran out of it. 4) The service is TERRIBLE! The BLONDE haired Asian waitress did not give me any attention and only asked the guy in my group if he needed or wanted anything, such as water refills. At one point, I obviously needed a water refill, but she barely payed attention to me (the other customer's needs), so I sadly didn't get that water refill and she didn't really SERVE ME like she should have. Ok, enough about the negative part of my experience. Something positive is I liked the variety of meats and noodles they have on the menu. They have things like rice cake, dumpling, and a variety of noodles too. Would I recommend? I would NOT recommend this place. I REALLY wanted enjoy my experience here, but I feel like the slow cooking, the slow service, me specifically being ignored by my waitress, all while having a 2 hour time limit doesn't make it worth it. We were just wasting our time waiting to receive our food and wasted more time since our stove kept turning off until we flagged someone else who is not our waitress down to help us. Not going to lie, I was pleasantly pleased with this kbbq & hotpot place! I am reviewing based on just the kbbq. I think it is worth the price with the quality they give. Obviously if you want high quality kbbq, this isn't the place, but this place is solid and has everything you could possibly imagine for an ayce kbbq place. I love how easy it was to order from the iPad, this was the first time I felt comfortable ordering so many meats at one time without bothering the waiters! I love how they have pictures for each meat so you get an idea of what your getting. I am a sucker for beef tongue, so the fact I was able to eat that for ayce on the dinner menu for around $30 is a good deal for me. The galbi was okay, and the chuck was also okay. I think the star was the beef tongue for sure. They have a sauce bar!!!! I loved how I could make my own sauces for my kbbq meats (instead of using it for hotpot) This was a lot different than usual because I'm just used to the basic brisket and salt and pepper, but they had so many options to choose from. The sides are a major hit or miss (mostly miss unfortunately). The corn cheese didn't come with real mozzarella cheese (very odd), and the fried ttebokki was weird. However the japchae was good. I paid around $42 including tip to dine at this all-you-can-eat establishment. Justifiable, because I got both options for Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. I went on a Monday night, so the wait was between 35-40 minutes. Once a waitress sat me and my friends down, the ball was in our court. We ordered away on a tablet; you pay at the end of your meal. My hot pot base was a milk broth. YUM! Imagine dipping thinly sliced, marbled meats into a soothing bowl of soup. That's what I did. I ordered beef brisket and pork, which absorbed all the flavors of the soup. It's going to be hard to change my mind, I'm set on getting a milk broth the next time I go out for hot pot! Out of all the meats I ordered for KBBQ, my favorites were the garlic pork belly and beef bulgogi. There's a sauce bar at the restaurant, but these meats did not need extra seasoning. Some places I go tend to over season their meats, but at QPOT, this wasn't the case. I suggest that the dining areas be wiped more cleanly, because when I sat down my elbows felt sticky from placing them on the table. URGH where do I begin?! I love QPOT. It's AYCE hotpot and kbbq for an extra $5! I usually don't do the kbbq though since I already stuff myself with hotpot But I love QPOT bc I don't have to bother the staff. I honestly hate talking to workers sometimes esp for AYCE bc I go for multiple rounds and I feel bad for whoever my server is. QPOT has an ipad where you order as you go, which I think is just super convenient. Oftentimes at other ayce restaurants you'll ask your server, but it can take a long time, but QPOT is quick! You order on the ipad and it'll be served to you within minutes!! The food quality is also very good. They do offer wagyu beef for $5? I believe, but they have A LOT of variety for you to choose from. There's SO many meats, veggies, side dishes you can choose from. They don't have too many appetizers though, but if you order their meat you'll definitely get your moneys worth. The restaurant itself is quite big and has many tables with varying seat arrangements. It's very busy and gets a bit loud, but it makes it the perfect place to drink and chat with friends. They do have a bar inside to order drinks, but you can also order at your table! Since it's a popular spot there's definitely going to be a wait. They do have an online waitlist system, but they turn it off during certain times, so just look out for that. The galbi was was overly chewy and not marinated. Total for 4 people AYCE on a weekend was $35 after taxes each. Overall not worth the price considering none of the meats stood out and could have been way better. The meats did not taste good on their own which proves that it wasn't very high quality unfortunately.. save your money and go somewhere else. You order your rounds through an ipad, and they have a self serve station for sauces however a ton of people were taking their masks off to try the sauces at the bar. Covid is transmissable through the air, you might as well have infected all the sauces there. Been coming here as a family for the last few years. Last time we visited was pre-pandemic. This place has earned my 5 stars....inarguably. This venue is easy to access. It's conveniently 2 minutes away from HWY 101 and Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek. It's nestled nicely in a nice size shopping center therefore parking is plentiful. My husband and I decided a visit on Valentines Day, which fell on a Monday this year which meant 6PM dinner on a holiday. Conveniently they offer their guest list via Yelp and you can add your name via the app. Only since it was a holiday and they were understandably busy they shut it down. You had to physically walk in and add yourself to the Yelp list via their ipad at the door. 1 hour wait. Could be worse. You can check where you are on the list via Yelp. So we hung out in our car until time was up. My husband even scored our 15 year old a new skateboard from Goodwill that apparently was a score. So we were seated. Asked if we had been there before. When we confirmed we had we were left to our own devices with the ordering screen. As I chose our meats our banchan came. Our fave is the cucumber kimchee, cabbage kimchee and the daikon radish kimchee. We opted against hot pot and just went full on bbq. I order a couple premium cut steaks, chicken, pork belly and oysters. I also ordered steamed rice, cheesy corn and jap chae. They offer a self serve buffet of dipping sauces. So mix as you will and serve yourself as much as you will. We spent about an hour grilling..eating...noise is average. Busy as busy gets. They come to turn down your grill if it seems to be too much. Seeing the good star rating, I am quite disappointed with my experience here and unsure if I would recommend this place or come back. Saturday around 5PM. Our group of 6 waited about 10 minutes for a table. The place was pretty busy, but not too much of a line. The tables/booths are really close together, so getting up and moving around feels tight. We opted for the KBBQ and personal hot pot. What's nice is they have a sauce bar, but OMG it was so dirty. Bowls to grab before grabbing sauces were not washed well. Trays to hold your sauce bowls are wet and not washed well either. Sauce bar was sooo messy and I get they're busy, but would be nice if one staff member came to wipe it down and restock it. Food takes forever to come out... they were taking so long we would order the max amount of meats (6) and they will still bring it out one by one. Example: meat would come, but sides/veggies/etc would come 10-15 mins later. Got the lettuce..but meats took long to come. So never made a lettuce wrap with any meats. There was only one round where we got an order all together, which was after we said something to the waiter. We asked why has it been a while and he told us to put in the order again on the iPad. All of a sudden an influx of our entire order came out after we have been sitting so long with nothing. It took so long that we eventually just gave up on using the hot pot. It was just so hectic.
