One thing to know--this place gets very busy, especially during peak hours, so be prepared for a wait. But trust me, it's absolutely worth it. The quality of the food and service makes every minute and every dollar worthwhile. My personal favorite is the fried catfish plate. It's so good that I have to order it every single time we visit! We decided to get the large bbq chicken and grilled chicken plates with the fried rice option. My friend added veggies to her bbq chicken plate and we each added a shrimp egg roll. Our food came out very fast and we laughed at the generous portions. Thomas made sure we had everything we needed and we had an assortment of sauces on the table to spruce up our dishes to our liking. All in all the food is good but wouldn't say we were wowed. The bbq chicken was both our favorites and I highly recommend that dish! The service was excellent, Thomas did everything right! The ambiance is low key, kind of has a hole in the wall feel, super casual. My one complaint is that the floors are SUPER slick and a major fall hazard. They have floor carpets everywhere to probably help with that but the tile sections are small death traps. (Yikes)

And then when we explained to her that he specifically did not want the Boba in there, she tried to blame another coworker for putting it in there saying that it wasn't her fault. Then before my soup had come out, she informed me that she forgot to write a large portion down, so the kitchen only made a small, and then apparently the kitchen told her "that they did not feel like remaking it correctly because it was her mistake." and then asked me if that was OK if I just got the regular size. Since they don't have a kids menu, that's what me and my son were sharing and I also wanted to take food home for leftovers considering the small and large was only a dollar difference. Then she brought the food out without any spoons. There were no spoons on the table either. I had to flag down another server to get our spoons. Then there were a few times where I tried to call her over and she walked right past me like she didn't hear me. Another customer had to flag her down for me because it was noticeable and quite ridiculous. So we just asked for a check and the containers after being embarrassed by the way we were treated and my child who was not calming down we just decided to leave and take everything home. Which she then brought out small containers when we clearly had full large bowls of soup left. It was just one thing after another, so I asked to speak with management, which they absolutely handled the situation beautifully. I ordered a boba drink and pho with brisket. The server returned after another 8 minutes to say they were out of both the boba flavor I wanted and the brisket. After I reordered, the replacement boba arrived extremely sweet -- basically tasted like watered-down sugar syrup with almost no tea flavor. The pho was even more disappointing.. the broth was watery and bland, there was very little beef, and the bowl was light on noodles and toppings. It felt like a shadow of what they used to serve. It's sad to see a spot that was once one of the best pho places in Salinas (in my opinion) decline this sharply. The restaurant was unusually empty, and the few other customers looked just as unimpressed. I understand rising food and restaurant operating costs, but cutting quality this much will only drive more people away. I rarely leave negative reviews and I don't consider myself to be such a picky eater, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. I'm not sure I'll be back.

The area is still pretty sketchy and since COVID there is still no seating at the restaurant so plan to get your food to go and take it back to a safe place to enjoy it--we do not recommend eating in you car. We tried that before and the homeless people walking by made it super uncomfortable. On this visit, a guy who belonged in a psychiatric hospital was yelling so loud while crossing the street that two of us left NB to go outside and see what the problem was--just a sick man yelling so went back inside. Despite all that, NB does great business, and as other Yelpers have noted, NB food quantity is still very good for the price. Prices have gone up but not as bad as elsewhere and it is still a good deal for what you get. The food quality really depends on personal taste. We live in San Gabriel, so there is no shortage of stellar Asian food there and NB cannot compete. However, we really like NB's curry chicken. Their noodle dishes really vary in quality, but none of them are bad, all are at least ok, and some are good. This time we also got a chow mien. It was basically fried ramen noodles, not chow mien noodles. It was not stellar, but hey we still liked the flavor and enjoyed it. We tried for the first time the catfish nuggets. It is basically what is called salt and pepper fish filet elsewhere, but with catfish at NB. It's fried, salty fish so what's not to like. It comes with what appeared to be sweet chili sauce, but we did not try that. Business was so good that after trying to call in our order twice, which we definitely recommend doing, no one answered. We drove over and put in our order in person and saw that they were super busy--the lady taking orders missed at least one call in just while taking our order in person. Her and the people cooking were working super hard--massive props and respect to them for working hard to create a successful and long standing business in the community. We will definitely be back again and definitely recommend you give them a try. I believe the only or best (lol) menu photos were the ones I posted about 3 years ago and so I am posting and update if those with this revues and to their business. Last thoughts, they are cash only so come prepared, they have boba drinks, and they have dessert (never tried that). Give them a try!

Most of everything on the menu is a stolen recipe from the Noodle Bar. The owners used to be employed by Noodle Bar and decided to copy and paste Noodle Bar down the street. Every dish is almost identical to Noodle Bar's. That's a pretty unethical thing to do in my opinion. read more

Maybe I missed it but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen it. They don't always have it so ask your waitress if they do before ordering. It is such a delicious rich and savory dish. It's filled with eggs, green onions, sometimes bacon, flour, cornstarch, corn, Dashie powder, reconstituted, and cabbage all mixed together into a thick batter that becomes a thick pancake. Browned on both sides. It's served with two or three different sauces- cutie mayonnaise, OKONOMIYAKI sauce, a sweet teriyaki thick sauce and topped with Bonita flakes. One pan cake is enough to serve two or three people as an appetizer. It's a treat. $8 Their Agedashi is excellent! I order this at every Japanese restaurant that I go to that has it on the menu. It is one of my very favorites. Here they have nice bite-size squares of firm tofu dipped in cornstarch and deep fried quickly just enough to make them piping hot and super crispy on the outside then served in a Dashie sauce topped with green onions and Bonita flakes. Because the tofu is so hot the Bonita flakes start to wave around and it's always been fascinating to watch this as we enjoy the dish itself. It's also a good dish to take to go because it's easy to reheat at home. $8.25. The crispy and crunchy combo tempura as an appetizer for $10 is also delicious in its simplicity and perfection. The Avo Mango Roll $ 9.95 has avocado, mango, nuts. It's light fruity and savory at the same time and the nuts are macadamia nuts, which add a really nice crunch to it. They have pages and pages of different sushi, sashimi and rolls. Some are simple some are very complex. It really depends on what your taste and what flavors you're looking for. Everything we've tried on several visits there have been fresh and outstanding. Their bento boxes $17-25 ($10 for kids bento) are huge. With miso soup salad rice your protein of choice ( the Katsu pork is outstanding and really holds up well to reheating at home). You also get tempura and a couple of pieces of roll with your bento box. My favorite however for just how beautiful it looks, and how light and delicious it is, is the Futo Maki $11.25 tamago, avocado, cucumber, gobo, shiitake, kampyo, oshinko. When you look at the roll itself, it's beautifully organized inside, very artistically arranged, and appealing to the eye. The first bite into it gives you a little bit of each ingredient and together they make for a very good imaginary trip to Japan. My only complaint about this restaurant is that it is so consistently good whether we eat in or have it delivered by DoorDash that we totally over order and end up with so much food! Lol. We always get a side serving of a large hot saki and a large Sapporo beer to wash it all down with. Add a wakame salad and we are good $5.50. Service is excellent and attentive. The place is very busy, but usually you're able to get a table fairly easily. Our tab is usually about $100 plus tip because we order so much!

No make up comfortable clothes messy hair- I'm probably looking half asleep or like we just woke up. We were still treated accordingly and got our delicious food. I'm pretty sure this is a husband and wife for many years combination. They got it down. He's in the back cooking she handles everything upfront. Food comes out quickly with very generous portions. We just saw it on our way and being a Chinese food lover stopped our car just outside the restaurant and tried our luck. The restaurant was quit spacious and clean. They also have a space for some special occasions or banquet. I came here along with my 4 yr old kid. After settling down we order for dishes for lunch. And it's better if you tell them not to make it too spicy while placing the order. Food was too good and very flavorful and so was their service, they were quite fast.

We ordered 5 dishes using takeout as we passed through Salinas on our way home. Food was prepared in 15-20 minutes. So far, so good. We ordered salt and pepper shrimp, wonton with peanut sauce, potstickers, sesame beef, and Thai style beef chow fun. None of these dishes stood out. All 5 were very average. No inspiration or exciting preparations here. Even though we ask for spicy preparations, none were prepared spicy. There's nothing wrong with Eagle except the food is very average with nothing to get excited about. I'm looking for more exciting food. The search continues.
