June 25, 2026 Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Denied Check-In Quality Inn (3350 Gateway St, Springfield, OR, 97477 Dear Alaina Harrison (or current hotel GM), I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience at your hotel on the evening of June 24, 2026. Delta Stays Itinerary # 73481562014486 My wife and I had spent an entire day traveling home from Hawaii. After flying into Portland, we drove approximately two and a half hours to Springfield on our way home. Unfortunately, we were unable to access our home that evening, so we booked a room at your hotel through American Express Travel using my Delta SkyMiles points. We arrived at your hotel shortly after midnight, exhausted after a full day of travel, only to be informed that we would not be allowed to check in because the address on my driver's license was within 30 miles of the hotel. I found this policy to be both unreasonable and insensitive to our circumstances. We had a valid, prepaid reservation and were legitimate travelers simply needing a place to sleep after an exceptionally long day. Instead, we were turned away in the middle of the night with nowhere to stay. If your hotel has a local resident policy, it should be clearly disclosed during the reservation process so guests can make other arrangements before arriving. At no point during the booking process through American Express Travel was I informed that our reservation could be denied based solely on our home address. To make matters worse, because the reservation had been booked using Delta SkyMiles points through American Express Travel, it was considered non-refundable. I was forced to spend a significant amount of additional time on the phone with customer service to explain the situation and request an exception so the reservation could be refunded. This unnecessary burden was the direct result of a reservation being accepted even though your hotel ultimately refused to honor it. This experience caused significant inconvenience, unnecessary stress, and frustration at a time when we were already physically exhausted from our travels. I respectfully request: * An explanation of why our prepaid reservation was accepted if we were ineligible to stay. * Confirmation of whether this policy is consistently applied. * Consideration of appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, hardship, and additional time required to resolve a problem that should never have occurred. I have generally found Quality Inn properties to provide dependable accommodations, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I hope you will review this situation and consider making changes to ensure future guests are clearly informed of this policy before they arrive, or that reservations are declined during the booking process rather than after guests arrive at the hotel. Bait and switch hotel. Room is nothing like they advertise. Door didn't have safety latch on door. Cables running down the wall. No place to hang clothes, no closet or cabinet with drawers. Our stay was not amazing but also wasn't the worst. The beds were comfortable enough. Our room was near an exit and it was relatively loud with people coming and going. The toilet also made loud noises periodically throughout the night. I'm a sound sleeper so this didn't wake me up, but it was definitely startling when I was awake. The coffee pot and coffee fixing are also in the bathroom which feels gross to me. I don't like that. It wouldn't take much to add a small table near the dresser/tv and keep the coffee station out of the bathroom. The room felt pretty dingy, but overall clean. One great thing is that pets are welcome and there is a pet relief area supplied with poop bags. read more

On a work trip and this was the only hotel offered for my CLC in the Springfield area.. seeing the reviews I was a little hesitant, but turned out alright. Seemed like an outdated hotel, but my room was clean & spacious with high ceilings (top floor) and seemed everything was decent for a night stay. My shower drained weird, but it didn't bother too much. Breakfast in the am, pretty good for continental style. There was a gal maintaining the breakfast area keeping everything filled. The area can be a little sketchy, but my vehicle was still in tact in the am. Front desk gals were nice and helpful. They have an outdoor pool, but was covered for the winter time. Wasn't too noisy with the freeway being nearby. Pretty centralized with lots of shopping and food nearby. read more

Horrible hotel. Looks much cleaner online than in person. Came here for one night for work. Travel through the area often so looking for a place I can rely on. Hotel needs a TOTAL REFRESH. Rooms are VERY dated. Carpets not the cleanest. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Sausage links barely warm. Post it note said they are out of eggs (apparently a recurring issue as I read other reviews that said the same thing). Obviously doing just the Bare Minimum hoping that will be enough. We just needed one night when my mom was in the hospital nearby. It is right by the freeway, so I was afraid it would be loud, but our room was very quiet. I was pleasantly pleased how the room was super clean, had all the personal items stocked in the bathroom and the Continental breakfast was fresh and with quite a bit of a variety. I'm not snobby by any means, but I am used to more upscale hotels and this one was great for the price. I would definitely stay again. read more

I've stayed here a couple times now and I love how friendly the staff is. Color was always greeting people as they came and went, very helpful and always smiling, it made me feel very welcome. The rooms are always clean and they even have shampoo and conditioner in the showers Incase you forget to pack some. The bed was so comfortable, also lots of movie channels and even privacy when needed. Staying a week I didn't need cleaning everyday but Priscilla brought towels and cleaned up when needed, she was very friendly and professional. Breakfast here was always good. Staying for a week, It was nice to have that included with your stay. I had biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs and of course homemade waffles. Coffee, tea and juices were also available along with yogurt, fruits and cereals. The location was super close to restaurants and freeways, I felt very safe and comfortable. They even have rooms when traveling with your furry friends. The grounds are clean and room for you to walk your pets around. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your next stay. read more

Booked a room here Mother's Day weekend. I was looking forward to using the pool that was advertised and it was covered. I was looking forward to the free breakfast advertised and they said they had been out of eggs for days, bacon was way undercooked, the biscuits for biscuits and gravy were very soggy on bottom like they had gotten wet, the gravy was extremely salty. My room had old McDonald's fries on the floor next to the bed. I paid almost $200 for the one night stay and was extremely disappointed. Will not stay at a quality inn again. read more

This is one smelly, dirty hotel. The entire hotel and rooms smelled like wet dog. I switched rooms because I have a bad dog hair alergy. I asked if I could be in a room where there wasnt a dog right before and the girl told me "we are pet friendly. " I told her I understood but if there wasn't a dog before me, then the room had a few chances of cleaning the room. No luck. The 2nd room was just as bad and just as dirty. RUN AWAY!!!! Blatant COVID violations, homeless folks in the lobby, no desk clerk, and I was leered at sexually by multiple men (I was dressed modestly but there should be no reason I need to state that). And I'm not easily disturbed or frightened, as I've travel abroad extensively and had interesting experiences, good and bad. So about this place..... I read the reviews and overall it sounded ok. Now I look here and see these were older reviews and not current, due to the sorting of whatever site I was on. Sort the dates! I arrived late at night from the airport, a woman traveling alone. I did notice homeless folks outside and I know there are homeless folks who are nice and not scary, so I went inside. I walked into the lobby and first I saw a person with his bare feet propped up on the furniture, talking very loudly on the phone, with no mask. Then some men came from down the hall who were obviously homeless and not clean (I do not make stereotypical assumptions) and no masks... one was zipping up his pants. I waited for a bit in the corner, as the sign said the desk person was away and would return shortly. As I waited, I noticed how icky the place looked. Not clean at all. The hallways were dim. Time went on and on. They did not return. There was no bell to signal them. As the group of men began to leer at me, I became alarmed because obviously the desk person wasn't returning. Then another man came in from outside, no mask, and looked me up and down and grinned at me, entering another room. The others looked at each other and chuckled a bit. First thing in my mind is do they have hookers in there? I quickly retreated to my vehicle, locked the door and got out of there. Not the worst place I have stayed. It was not my choice to stay here. It's a conference. All these older establishments need an upgrade. But I can endure the crumbling paint. I can endure the athletes running up and down the halls. Yes. I called the front desk. Relief was short lived. So not much sleep. So I'm grumpy. When I see the shower head like it is; when I see the security provisions as they are; no bed bugs but a dirty mattress (yes I check); and dirty furniture, it makes the other issues even worse. The level of service and the friendly staff at this location were above and beyond my expectations. We had a disabled family member who needed an extended place to stay and they went out of their way to accommodate us. They made sure he was safe and comfortable and each time I came to visit, I was met with friendly accommodating service. The location was excellent to get to the places we needed to go in Eugene and Springfield. The rooms were clean and the breakfast hit the spot. This hotel is what nightmares are made of. When you walk into the lobby and see the dated decor you know you're in for a disaster. Our room was filthy. The bathroom floor was sticky. We went to the lobby and asked if we could have our room cleaned and we were told by the rude staff no cleaning staff were there, and they suggested we go buy our own cleaning supplies. I was not able to sleep in fear of what bugs that feed off filth would come out and bite me while I slept. The mattress felt like it was filled with hay, and the sheets felt like sandpaper. This hotel is decent. Pretty clean and it has a nice sized pool. The showers have good water pressure. However the TVs in the rooms do not have closed captioning! We set the setting onto closed captioning and it didn't work. The front desk was no help. We also asked housekeeping for a new bag for our trash and never received it. read more

I can sum up the condition and overall feeling of this place in two words; popcorn ceiling. Other than that, decent desk space with another seat and ottoman in the corner for hanging out before hitting the sack. Comfortable bed. Tub/shower needs work and doesn't drain well. Toilet isn't one of those newer super flushers so, could be a problem. Nice flat screen TV WITH SLEEP TIMER ON THE REMOTE!! (a hotel pet peeve when they don't). Not sure if they have smoking rooms or if they use to. Either way, stale cigarette smoke smell is strong in hallway spots and probably in the rooms that use to have smoking and even those that haven't for people sensitive to it. I was hoping to find a new place to stay while in town every 6 weeks but, the search continues. In fact.....I think I'll switch from 'Choice Brand' hotels as they don't seem to care that I've been a loyal customer for years (about 20 stays a year over the last 10 years). Update: another negative is the PTAC (wall mount, under window, noise HVAC unit) that have the graphics for the control dials worn away and completely not legible. Got tickets to Ducks vs Bruins game at the last minute last week. Opted to find a hotel due to it being a night game....this was about our only option left found by our trusty travel agent. Relatively easy to find, however if traveling up I-5 make sure you take the correct exit....because if you miss it....you are looking at about a 30 minute turn around time to get back to it. Lots of construction going on. Pretty sure the hotel is expanding into a whole new facility right next door, but not 100% as I didn't confirm with anyone. Just using my powers of observation that there was NO sign indicating it was a different hotel going up. Popular destination for Duck fans. Tons of vehicles parked there with all the usual bumper stickers, flags, license plate frames, etc. We must have gotten one of the last rooms....reserving the day before...because just during check in alone, we heard them tell three callers the place was sold out and all booked up. Check in was easy, fast and efficient. It appeared to me they staffed accordingly for the game that night and therefore the demand. Room 119 was just down the hall from the front desk. Two queen beds. Nothing fancy. Our travel agent had advised us it was going to be a two star hotel and I think that is accurate. The place was clean. Functional. Just right for it's intended purpose. A room to come back to after the game, get cleaned up and sleep before departing the next morning. I am glad we got TWO queen beds as they were lacking in the support we've become accustomed to with Sheraton. In other words, they were VERY bouncy. As such, my wife and I each took one to ourselves. I was genuinely surprised by how quiet the facilities were being most of the guests were just at a winning football game. Although, I will also confess that most were of our age.....or older. So we weren't the "wild" crowd by any stretch of the imagination. The location was also ideal for surrounding restaurants. I noted a Shari's, Denny's, IHOP, Elmers, Taco Time and Carls Jr. nearby. We also made at stop at a Dari-Mart for some Diet Coke to take back to the room.....which had a fridge. TV was cable only. No pay per view movies. Bathroom was very cramped but clean and functional. Rarity among hotels these days, it had an exhaust fan! Tub was slow to drain but not worth making a big stink about. Room was $129 for the night including all taxes. Again, not a place I would choose to stay at for long periods or even a vacation, but for it's intended purpose this place fit the bill. read more

Was the worst experience at any hotel I've ever had booked for 5 days threw Priceline. The hotel ended up charging me about $650 extra dollars. When they specifically told me my card would not be charged they were just running it to keep on file. Took about 2 weeks to get the while thing straighten out. I called multiple times to the hotel the manager was never there. I sent a email and called the 800 number provided. Definitely not happy with how they handled the whole thing. Will never go back. Came here on a Saturday and got a rate of $79 plus tax off of priceline. The lobby was nice with a small sitting area and computer for public use. The staff was very friendly, 5 minutes after we checked into our room the front desk called us to see if we liked our room and asked if we needed anything. I've never had that at any hotel/motel I've stayed in before-it was a nice surprise. Like the last yelper mentioned i noticed the beds were a bit bouncy as well. The room was crammed but for the price of only $79 with free parking/wifi, continiental breakfast and right in the middle of town i couldn't complain. When we went to leave the staff had left a newspaper in front of our hotel room door which was cool. Overall, this place is nothing fancy but its not bad..i would stay here again. Lots of good about the room, but all of that has been completely wiped out by their multiple mistakes in double (now triple) billing my card! If it weren't for the billing problems, I'd have rated this at 4 stars. Until I discovered the billing error (after we returned home from vacation), I'd had this motel in my mental list of warm, fuzzy "gotta remember" for the future. Now that I've spent much of my morning on the phone with them (multiple calls) trying to get their double billing (Update: now a triple billing) corrected, all the warm feeling is gone. The Good: Decent room, a bit small but very comfortable, modern, clean, very quiet, free Wi-Fi. Good rate that they even lowered a bit more because we had to stand there and wait so long to check in because of their computer problems. In comparison to other places we've stayed, this room was Very Good Value. Also Good: Lots of restaurants nearby. We had dinner at the Roadhouse and enjoyed some of the best tri-tip ever. I highly recommend that restaurant and will write them a separate review with 5 stars. The Bad: double billed, two different amounts. See comment above about their computer problems. I just got off the phone with them. As of right now, they've said they see the error is theirs and will credit my card immediately. Update: The Very Bad: instead of crediting my card to correct the double billing, they debited it again, so I've now been triple charged. The manager said she'd talked with their billing service and they said they'd credited the card. My bank says it's clearly another debit. I've been on the phone with the hotel manager several times and now the manager has supposedly gone to a meeting and the clerk isn't authorized to do anything. So I'm dealing with idiots at several levels and it sounds like they're dealing with idiots at their card billing service. Fortunately, my bank is putting a hold on all the incorrect charges so I probably won't end up paying the triple billing but it will involve filling out forms and wasting more time on this. Summary: Roll the dice. Nice room for the price but you risk having to spend hours correcting billing errors. read more

My skin was itching. I can tell the sheets were not washed correctly. I think they must have used some kind of spray in this room for some reason--maybe fleas. And I am allergic to most sprays. The desk woman was not that nice to me. This is the worst Quality Inn I have ever stayed at There is even small bits of black mold in the creases along the ceiling where the walls and the ceiling meet. I am sitting here watching TV there are fuzz lines from time to time. I don't want to ask what will happen next. read more

I booked this place sight unseen for a 2 night stay. Nothing looked unkempt or questionable on arrival. All looked good from the lobby, to registration, to the elevator, to my room. I was glad to see they had a breakfast area off the lobby because I didn't notice online that they offered it. I asked for an extra garbage bag to clean out my car, and Maurice gladly gave me one. Leslie, the breakfast gal, was warm and welcoming and even offered to heat up the breve that I had bought locally. She was just the sunshine I needed dining alone away from home. While my father was in ICU for 11 days we stayed at this horrible hotel. We had received a brochure with the list of hotels partnered with the hospital. We chose Quality Inn because of the location and the price, as we were planning to only be there to rest our eyes a few hours each night. Wednesday night, we checked into two rooms. One room we needed for one week, as we did not know how long my father would be in ICU. Neither one of the keys worked. One room had to be changed as not even the staff could get into the room. Thursday evening we got to our room and the key was not working once again. I went down to the front desk and they told us that we were checked out. I asked who had checked us out, and they said they didn't have any record of us needing a room for a week. They also let us know that they had checked out our room to other guests and that they had gone into our room and noticed that our luggage and belongings were in the room. Friday I went down again to make sure that any misunderstandings were cleared up. They then told us that we could not stay in our room on Sunday night due to the Eclipse and the fact they could charge $500 for the night. At this point I was very upset. I wasn't trying to watch the eclipse, I was there to be with my father in ICU where we were told he may not make it. While I was in my room for 20 mins the front desk called and said they had a "cancellation" and that they would be willing to give us the hotel rate if we wanted to stay. From that time on, we didn't get our beds made daily, we no longer received a news paper, we had to ask for fresh towels, and continued to walk downstairs each night to get a new key that would let us into our room. As I checked my credit card online, I saw that I had been charged multiple times for our nights. When our bill came the morning we were finally checking out, I noticed the hotel rate had doubled. When I went to question it, I was told it was due to an event taking place that weekend. I have never received such horrible service at a hotel ever in my life. And do not plan on ever staying at your hotel ever again. If you don't plan on making it a pleasant experience for guest who are dealing with sick family in the hospital, you should probably remove your hotel from the hospital list. read more

We reserved on-line and paid in advance on an "non-refundable" rate. When we arrived we understood why they push the "non-refundable" rates. The name, "Quality" may have been accurate 40 years or so ago when this old dump was built but its not quality now. Its over due for a complete refurbishment. The hallway carpet is so filthy it has turned dark gray and stinks of 20 year old tobacco smoke. The elevator doors clank and hesitate. They are obviously worn out. The elevator lift mechanism makes noises apparently from worn out rollers and guides. Are we risking our lives taking the elevator? Finally as I was going back and forth to my car with luggage leaving, the elevator gave a loud CLANG and stopped between floors. After a short while I was looking for an emergency notification method when it gave a lurch and started up again. WOW! Is it safe? One old ice machine on each floor is not keeping up. We had to go down the street to a convenience store to get ice for our drinks. We were eventually told by another guest that the ice machine on the 2nd floor actually works somewhat, and guests can occasionally get some ice there. Not adequate. Our room looks like it was repainted at some time, but the ceiling still has their 1960s "popcorn." The room heat/AC unit has been upgraded to a digital controlled unit that was adequate. The only one chair in our room looks like it's 40 years old and dirty. The tiny bathroom has an old round style pot, not adequate, but a nice long style toilet would probably not fit. The old bath tub is so 1960s. Does anyone take a bath and not a shower in a hotel today? Its non-skid is gray with some kind of permanent stain. They upgraded to a nice shower nozzle, but the tub/shower drain doesn't work. When taking a shower you end up standing in a deep tub of your own dirty water. The shower curtain rod was updated to a curved variety, but some previous guest broke its attachment, and that wasn't fixed either. Not adequate. Their cheap service policy advises that they only provide clean towels when you check in, unless you chase them down and ask for clean towels. Someone staying for 3 days is expected to use the same dirty sheets and towels for the whole stay. Day 2 we asked for and got new towels but room not cleaned. Day 3 we asked maids for and got room cleaned with new towels. Day 4 we asked maids for room clean and towels. We came back later and maids gone but our room not cleaned. We asked the front desk to have our room cleaned and new towels when we left for the afternoon. We returned tired at 5 PM after a long day, and room not cleaned nor did we have clean towels. We complained at the front desk and finally a clerk brought some towels at about 6 PM, but no wash clothes. She said that all their wash cloths are in the laundry. My wife had to go ask them again later, and we finally got some clean wash cloths at about 9 PM. No clean sheets were provided. NOT acceptable customer service. They have upgraded the room furniture with a computer table, and a combination frig, microwave, drawers, and TV piece. Again, it's designed to fit into a very small room. The refrigerator actually works and keeps our sodas cold. Some prior guest had turned it to "MAX" cold and it froze my soda. Light fixtures are newer and more modern. They worked and so did the TV. This place has an outdoor swimming pool and a guest laundry. Before we arrived my wife spent 20 minutes trying to phone to ask if they had a guest laundry. She started with the Quality Inn web site, and after 20 minutes of computer "Push 2 for this or that" she finally got to talk to a person who told her that they don't have a guest laundry. So we stopped at another place to wash our clothes before we arrived at the Quality Inn. Count that as a black mark for their corporate customer service. They won't give you the phone number to let you call the individual hotels, and their central office doesn't know what is available at each. Bad customer service. Their breakfast bar includes sausages and cheese omelet eggs. Biscuits and canned "gravy" are there along with bake it yourself waffles. My sausage was cold. The biscuits were also cold. The toaster was broken and not replaced. I learned only to use the two right hand slots. The butter was kept in a little refrigerator. It was too cold to spread on my toasted bagel. The location is convenient. One quick turn and you are on the Eugene beltway and down town or across town. This hotel was Barefoot Friendly. read more

Horrible front desk lady with no teeth didn't give me all the information after driving all the way from Eugene and the hotel front office was really dirty. Horrible customer service and I would never recommend anyone to stay here. I would rate this place 0 stars and I've stayed lots of local places for just a night to get away from the house. Front desk was friendly but my room was not clean. Hair on the toilet and toilet seat, toilet bowl needed a good scrubbing. Hair on the tray that held the ice container and cups. Water in the sink, floor needed a better vacuuming. I know quality housekeepers are hard to find so hopefully they can remedy the situation. Didnt feel it was worth the 106 a night. read more
