Traffic after the Diamondbacks game was horrible so I decided to stop here and grab a bite. I ordered a chicken empanada and the carne asada loaded fries. The carne asada fries were absolutely delicious. Generous portions of fries and carne asada. The care asada was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken empanada was so good I had to get another to-go for a midnight snack! My picture is proof of that lol. They also had Mexican Coke which just tied the whole meal together for me. Overall 5/5 for their taste and quality of food. Came here starving with no expectations as it was my husband's recommendation, but leaving as a fan. We first started with one of each of their empanadas (chicken, pork, beef). And this comes down to preference of meat choice as all were flavorful and delicious and non overly salted and loaded with meat, but wish it was more of the temperature hot side. Our personally favorite was the pork. Tostones- hands down my favorite. This is like a tostada but with a plantain as your base vs a chip. As for the chicken, perfectly seasoned, not dry, with a charred flavor. Then topped it off with pico and mango salsa.. which perfectly balanced the whole meal Steak salad- this meal was good, but definitely would not order this again. The reason being not enough salad to start (maybe a handful or less), but there are so many other options to choose from. Th steak serving was about 3-4 oz and well seasoned, not salty. We were waiting for the ghost tour and looked for a place to eat. We found this place. The family that runs the place were very nice. The margaritas were great and the happy hour was decent. The plates are made to share and we did. We had the empanadas, tostones and yuka fries. Everything was freshly made and tasty. I really liked the tostone with pollo and mango. The restaurant is a short walk from Chase Field. Their patio is super cute with a good amount of umbrella tables surrounded by picturesque views of frondescence. Absolute serenity! Our server was a doll! She took really great care of us! My Pollo & mango tostones were incredible! I've never had tostones before, so I have nothing to compare this one to, but I loved the crispy texture! The sweet mango complemented the chicken, and added a pleasant burst of flavor to the entire tostones! My mimosa was also refreshing and delightful!! The high rating this place has is well deserved. We got the pork and chicken empanadas for an appetizer and it was legitimately one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten in my whole entire life. If you go here you HAVE to at least order the pork one. For the main dish we shared the loaded pork fried which were also delicious. The cocktails were great too. Everything came out super fast and the servers were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is in an old house and dimly lit with cool paintings. There is also a really nice, cute patio if you want to sit outside. The menu has a good variety of different Latin foods and drinks and there are some vegetarian options too. read more

Great experience at Que Sazon. The highlight of the evening was our waitress, who was knowledgeable, attentive, gracious and engaging. We would return just for the amazing service, but the food was also delicious. The empanadas de pollo were flavorful, crunchy, and not at all dry inside (as empanadas so often are). The ceviche Colombiano camarón was a standout - the shrimp was VERY fresh, and the flavors thoughtfully developed. There was also a ceviche with a pop of sweetness from fresh pineapple that became an instant favorite at the table. High praise as well for the coconut gelato dessert empanadas - delightfully sweet and SO much crunch! (Dangerous - I could just keep eating those forever!) We can't wait to come back and dive into the entrees. Highly recommend this downtown treasure, but recommend carpooling as parking is quite overpriced. read more

We were thrilled with our experience at Que Sazon. We found this restaurant by accident after being turned away by a quoted 3-4 hour wait across the street at one of our all-time faves. So imagine what a pleasant surprise it was to stumble across to amazing food absolutely worthy of the better known, long-established neighbor. Good food conquers all. My wife and kids raved about the pork empanada, and they liked the beef too. The pork on rice with the plantain chips was amazing. Basically the pork won the day. The beans were exceptional too. How does one elevate black beans. Somehow they did. Fantastic. We actually planned on trying the pork via the loaded fries, as recommended by our server. We got excited watching all the loaded fries delivered to the tables all around us. But 20 min after we ordered our server came back apologetically to say the kitchen had just run out of fries. It was awkward but the restaurant ended up comping the replacement dish and handled everything with such grace and class that it only enhanced our experience. Plus it didn't hurt that the replacement was the aforementioned pork on rice with plantain chips which was itself worthy of superlatives. I do my best to stick mostly to veggies (which the amazing pork made very, very difficult) so for me personally the high point was the elote (corn). Phenomenal. My veggie tacos were good and probably would be headline-worthy at most places but at this meal they were a bit outshined. Loved Que Sazon. The service was exceptional and the food was expertly executed. We'll be back. read more

This place is such a gem! Located inside an old house with a unique atmosphere, the food and drinks are top notch, and the service is quick and friendly. We both tried the house margaritas, which are served with Spanish liqueur to pour over. Unique and very good! I had some veggie tostadas, which hit the spot, along with plantains that were perfect. Perfect experience from start to finish! We had a group of 7 - seated indoors in a small unique room in the restaurant. Excellent recommendations for drinks, apps, and dinner. Food and drinks came out quickly but we were given plenty of time to linger. Head over to this interesting looking restaurant. It's located inside a cool old house remodeled into a restaurant. Feels cozy, like you're dining in another time. Service was attentive. I was so hot I immediately started with a Paloma and it was delicious! We got to order pretty quickly and between 3 of us got yucca fries, an empanada, and 2 different types of tacos. The food was pretty good! The vegetarian at the table really liked the veggie taco. I stopped by here solo before catching the symphony while visiting Phoenix. I managed to enjoy their happy hour (it ends at 6pm, I arrived 5:50pm so they let me order fast!) -- I got a $10 margarita and $5 chicken empanada. Great prices! For my main, I got the ceviche which came with fried plantain crisps. Absolutely delicious and filling. I got a sweet empanada with banana and cheese (sounds weird but actually so good) for dessert. I was served by Alma and sat at the bar. She was super nice and friendly. The restaurant has a cozy, lively atmosphere and the location is perfect for downtown attractions. We happened to be in downtown Phoenix on Valentine's Day and wanted to try Que Sazon based on its Yelp reviews. The staff were able to sneak us in before their Valentines's Day dinner reservations. We tried one of the ceviches, tostones, and a couple different empanadas. Everything was fantastic! However, the highlight was dessert - fried banana empanadas with coconut gelato. Such a great place to enjoy a comfortable patio and food that isn't typically Mexican but wonderfully Columbian. Our servers were top notch and when a dish was a little late coming out, they let us know, but it really wasn't delayed long. The inside was very attractive but we enjoyed the patio keeping cool with misters and shade. I really enjoyed the homemade Sangria, which I rarely order. The pork empanada was delish and overly stuffed. We also enjoyed "mini chicken tostadas" which were based on smashed plantains, a nice change from tortillas. Great food, fantastic service! We hired Que Sazon to cater a party as part of our wedding weekend. We ordered food for 30+ guests, and Julie (the owner) was incredibly patient and helpful as we figured out the menu. She was easily able to accommodate food allergies and provided separate meals for these guests. She even delivered the food to our event and made sure we had everything we needed. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! A few quick notes on the food: - The dough of the empenadas has a crispy yet fluffy texture that's nice and fatty, very satisfying. Good balance of dough to filling, empenadas are the perfect size. - The chimichurri aioli and chipotle aioli are delicious, I drizzled these on everything I ate for probably three days after the event - Slow roasted pork (from the burrito bowls) was a hit at the party, I heard lots of complements. - Colombiana Beef empenada was a surprise standout; I usually prefer pork to beef, but this had some incredible flavors going on. We stopped by the restaurant a few days before the party for a drink and had the opportunity to try the ceviche (we did not get this for our party as it doesn't travel well). I can confirm they are doing magical things with their leche de tigre and sauces, specifically the habanero mango sauce in the Tiradito Que Sazon Classic ceviche. I can't say enough nice things. Fantastic new restaurant! Great location- so relaxing sitting outside in the square watching the stray cats and enjoying the breeze. One of the owners was actually our server, and her husband is the chef. You can really see the love that went into the food. I loved my Veggie tostones, and my friends said the ceviche was fantastic. The only recommendations I'd have for them moving forward is to add more unique cocktails to their list and to put some food & cocktails on actual happy hour instead of just $1 off drinks. We went here for lunch during a conference at the Phx Convention Center due to it's proximity. While I know that it must be hard to manage when large groups arrive at once and are all on the same schedule, AND all want separate checks (so they can expense the meal) this place didn't even come close. We ordered almost immediately after we sat down. I was in a group of four, and the first of us got out food about 15 minutes after we ordered, we each got our food in sequence and all three of my companions had already finished their meals before I even got mine. Our server started out apologetic at the beginning of the meal and by the end just admitted to being in a bad mood. The food was fine but certainly not worth the wait.
