The BF and I were watching an episode of Top Gear where they motorcycle through Asia. It made me crave Vietnamese food so badly! I made him promise that we could head out to grab some just as soon as we got back to the Cities. We were about ready to head to Eat Street to hit up some of our usuals, but we decided to try something up in our neck of the woods instead. Saw the reviews for Que Viet and gave it a whirl. Perhaps it was our error in assuming the name meant that it was Vietnamese. There was nothing about the menu that reminded me of Vietnamese cuisine though. It seemed like straight up Chinese. Egg Drop soup, sweet and sour, lo mein... you get the drift. We landed on the asparagus soup (super bland), egg rolls (more like sausage wrapped in fried egg roll wrappers), beef lo mein (good, but better with hot sauce added to it) and the hot and spicy chicken (delicious!). Our server was so sweet and the portions were enormous. I will definitely go back when I am craving more of that chicken. So good! I think there are better overall Asian restaurants in town though. read more

I enjoy the eggrolls when I'm in the mood for something greasy and not good for me; the sausage and cabbage filling and super crunchy fried exterior make it one of the more unique eggrolls I've had. The beef with vegetables and chicken chow mein taste fresh with plenty of not mushy veggies which I appreciate. Unfortunately the low mein is exceedingly salty and the order of veggie low mein I had tonight came with several chunks of chicken (not enough to have been mistakenly given chicken low mein - and if that was the case then I would've been very disappointed with the amount of chicken - but enough to make me wonder how separate, if at all, they keep their meat and veggie dishes or how infrequently they're cleaning the woks.) Luckily I'm not vegetarian or vegan so it wasn't a big issue. Overall this is a convenient place to get takeout but it's not in my top 5. read more

This gets 5 stars from me for the egg rolls alone. I don't think I've ever had an egg roll as good as this. Even Than Doh's Vietnamese style egg rolls which are great, and high quality, but are way different then Que Viet's egg roll. Even Bona on campus who may have one of the best Vietnamese egg rolls around, while high quality and authentic, just doesn't compare. The difference is, Que Viet's is like a pork meatloaf wrapped in rice paper. My wife always gets the Egg rolls over Chilled Rice noodles , and it's amazing. I typically get the Spicy Chicken cause it's insanely good. I haven't found a spicy chicken that I like better then this one, and believe me, I've tried. The only one that is even close, is at Eden Vietnamese in Eden Prairie. My only beef, is that there is a bit of grizzle in the chicken and I usually spend some time going through and chopping out the bad parts. I wanted to like it so badly. We tried Que Viet for the first time on Saturday night and at first it seemed like a great choice. We stopped in to order takeout and the two employees that helped us were extremely nice. The food did not take long at all, I barely read two articles from the Onion while we waited. Upon getting it home, my boyfriend discovered to his delight that the egg rolls were akin to a small fried burrito and filled with more pork than he knew what to do with. He said they were by far the highlight of his meal (if only there were a veggie version too!) Based on the other reviews here that's a consistent experience. Other than that, the hot & spicy mock duck was good, but not really spicy at all, and the veggie fried rice with tofu was also pretty good........until we got home later that night, dove into the leftovers, and I chomped down on a shard of glass several bites in. This was after we had already eaten half of the dish earlier in the evening. Alarmed, we inspected the rice more closely and discovered more glass. It could happen anywhere, I guess. It certainly ruined it for me. Fortunately we read online that your stomach acid is more than likely strong enough to break glass down. Regardless, any place that I find numerous slivers of it in my food I probably will need time to forget before I go back. read more

I regularly do take out. Particularly for their to die for Egg rolls, my other go to dish is beef over rice noodles. They are friendly and helpful with suggestions. When eating in they were responsive without being a nuisance. The place was clean and accessible. You won't be disappointed if you eat here. read more

There really isn't anything bad I can say about Que Viet. The food is great and the portions are ample. There are a few things I can point out or recommend so someone who has not experienced Que Viet will know a couple of things ahead of their visit: --The egg rolls are amazing, but it would be nice if they threw another vegetable or two into the mix...this egg roll is ALL meat. --Don't ask for any extras that don't appear in the menu description of your dish. On multiple occasions, I've asked for mushrooms in my spicy chicken and got just two to four small slices, yet was charged for the addition...really, a buck a piece for mushroom?! It's almost like they don't know what to do if you ask for the extras. They would rather serve it to you the way they designed it to be. Yesterday, I asked for a side of broccoli to be stir fried into my house lo mien and I got three small pieces. I don't mind paying for extras, but I want to be able to really see them. --Expect to take food home unless you are REALLY hungry. The dinner menu portions can easily feed two. If you ride your scooter or your bike to any location, make sure you have a basket or a backpack. --If you are dieting or trying to eat healthier fare, everything here is deep fried or stir fried, except for the white rice. If you go to Que Viet in search of some tasty Asian cuisine, you won't be disappointed. It's not fancy, just darn good. read more

My future inlaws used to go here back in the '80s and recommended it to my fiance and I when we moved into NE. Of course they recommended the egg rolls and they did not disappoint. I almost have to mentally and physically prepare myself just to eat one! We now order take out from here quite frequently. I have ordered the hot and spicy chicken, butterfly shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and vegetable low mein and have no complaints at all. My favorite is the hot and spicy chicken. Yea, the egg-roll was amazing. That's it. The beef and veggies had NO flavor, and the egg drop soup had a nice broth and amount of egg and chicken, but it was bland, even for egg drop soup. We're moving just a few blocks away so I'll give it another shot, but everything else on the menu looks pretty greasy (sweet and sour, fried rice etc...) not what I want in a place that could have been my once a week take out place. read more

I'll echo the sentiments of a lot of past reviews: BEST EGGROLLS IN TOWN! An order of them alone is enough to fill you up. Meaty, mega-crispy, and extremely flavorful. My other favorite is the hot and spicy mock dock, a savory, spicy dish of mock duck and onions (even the onions and sauce is tasty on it's own) served over fluffy white rice. The portion is enough for two meals so it's great to share or take home for a late night snack or lunch the next day. The flavor is almost better the next day. I give it only four stars only because the meat dishes are a little gnarly. The sweet and sour chicken and pork seem pretty low quality meat-wise, but if you stick to veggie dishes you're golden. Went here craving Pho. I should have read the reviews before going as this is NOT a Vietnamese restaurant. I asked for some of my favorite type of Pho, nope. I then asked for spring rolls, nope. After that maybe a Banh Mi sandwich as a last resort, nope. I was told that "this is more of an American Vietnamese restaurant than a Vietnamese restaurant" by the waitress. I am going to go with a Chinese/American restaurant as an appropriate for this place. I tried the beef with vegetables and it left a lot to be desired. Very little beef swimming in a seemingly pre mixed/ frozen veggie medley with some jelly like gravy poured all over it. The only thing lacking more than the beef in this dish was the dynamics of flavor. I applied siracha sauce to every spoonful so it had any sort of flavor. The eggrolls are good, but not anything out of the ordinary. They are big, I guess that suits the all Caucasian dining crowd that I should have noticed when I walked in. If you want Vietnamese food, it is worth the drive to Quang's . Pho 79, or even the Vietnamese place attached to Mirage Bar on Old Hwy 8. This place left me bummed. read more
