Queen Mother's serves excellent fried chicken sandwiches. I highly recommend ordering online and placing your order early or they may sell out. They have great options, like honey butter, mumbo, and Nashville hot. They also have a little cafe that you can eat in. Staff is friendly. I ordered the Virginia honey butter and waffle fries. The chicken is so big you almost need another bun. And it's juicy and tender with the perfect crust. I'm an awful photographer so my picture does not do it justice (and I was trying to eat because a girl was hungry). And I love that the buns are all-toasted and not just an afterthought, line at so many other places. The fries are good but need more seasoning and more evenly spread seasoning. Next on my list is the mumbo or Nashville hot--can't decide which but am definitely looking forward to it. aI really struggled with this review. I waited for 24 hours before posting it. I really wanted to love Queen Mother's Chicken; but alas I cannot. The chicken sandwich was very good, the fries were nice and crispy and the homemade lemonade was good, not too sweet; which is always a plus in my book. The service was not good, after telling me to order from the person working the counter disappeared and finally i had to ask her to ring up the order for her. One of my most memorable chicken meals was in Springdale Arkansas at the AQ Chicken and people drive to get some AQ chicken and their unbelievable rolls. There is a line outside on most days. It was kind of tricky locating, but its pretty much across the street from Wendy's, and I parked out in front with no issues They share a kitchen/establishment with a coffee/tea business... So when you go in, just tell them you're here for "Queen Mother's" and they will take your order/menu on the side and cash you out on another register. I got the original chicken sandwich which comes with their signature sauce, and there "famous" fries to include a ginger ale soda Chicken Sandwich- Came out fresh and hot!! (they cook to order "allegedly" so my wait time was 10+ min or so) not a big deal, I was chillin and listening to music they had playing.. Wasn't in any rush Sauce- Taste like mayo, mustard, ketchup mix.. it was good and complimented the sandwich well! She (sandwich) was "thick" too!! Wow Bread- Warm Brioche bun, that was nice and "airy" Fries- I was told was their famous fries that is cooked in duck fat The fries had a nice lite "dust" of seasoning on them... Saw this place online in a few articles and videos so we decided to grab a quick dinner. We placed an order online and got the Honey Butter chicken sandwich, the duck fat crinkle fries, dirty rice, and a side of Mambo sauce. Parking wasn't too hard but it was paid street parking right next to La Covina Cafe. Not sure if they have a garage nearby. Order wasn't ready on time but seemed like they had a lot of orders going out. A decent amount of people eating in so they might've been a little short staffed because there was only 2 people I saw working. The food traveled pretty well. The sandwich had a great crunch and was juicy. Lots of honey butter gave it a nice creaminess and sweetness. The fries were also pretty crispy and the mambo sauce was a perfect dipping sauce. The dirty rice was arguably better than Popeyes! Wish I had more but it had a good kick too it. I happened upon this establishment because I was at a local park and looked for restaurants within the area. I saw the incredible ratings and had to come check it out. The range of emotions I experienced while eating this sandwich! At first I couldn't decide between 1) wanting to keep it all to myself and 2)wanting this business to be successful so that I can always come back and get the sandwich. I'd like to deconstruct all my food and assess the quality of each element individually. This sandwich stood up to the test flawlessly. I tasted the brioche by itself, fresh and soft unlike anything I've ever had. The crust on the chicken is well seasoned, and the texture of the crust is shatteringly crisp. In addition, it has that flavor of well cooked flower products where can tell the flower doesn't have a raw taste it has a strong toasted taste. I've heard of people frying their chicken to the point that it is the color of mahogany. That's what this is. This is not a sandwich that has been sitting under a heat lamp. I thought the honey butter with vanilla might be too much for me, but I found myself stopping every bit of it up with the bread! The duck fat fries and LEMON PEPPER ketchup (!!) would've been amazing on their own. But this sandwich was everything I needed it to be. I had to know more. How did this start? How are they going to handle the inevitably explosive growth? I'm really interested, from a business perspective. So I had to stock down the owner and learn more. It's a great story. In Portland, ME, there was a 2+ hr wait for Duckfat's famous fries and you can get these any time. They are even better if you put them back in the air fryer later. The shop is located in a shared culinary school/nonprofit/kitchen space, so don't be alarmed that it does not have its own storefront. Look for the entrance to La Cocina (they are also doing their own amazing work to create hospitality jobs and build community). There is usually a sign out front for Queen Mother's. I street park on Lincoln St. by the Wendy's. I will say their hours are sometimes odd to me, so check that they are open before you make a trip. Everyone who works here is always friendly. Wow. My husband and I are always on the lookout for a good chicken sandwich so when this place come across our radar, we knew we had to check it out. As other customers have mentioned, this place doesn't have a storefront that says Queen Mother, but you enter the same doors as The Cafe La Cocina. Go in and ask for Queen Mother's Chicken and they will direct you to the menu and where to order. Ok, for the good stuff- the chicken!! I ordered the original and my husband ordered La Reina which is a cheese pupusa on a chicken sandwich (whatt). I wanted some spicy so I got the spicy mambo sauce on the side which was absolutely perfect (sweet/spicy). The chicken breading was crispy to PERFECTION. But, I have to say, my husband was the real winner here- not only crispy chicken but a pupusa on top?! He kindly let me have a couple bites and I seriously couldn't do anything but roll my eyes at the flavors I was experiencing. Wow. Absolutely mouthwatering. It came with a spicy tomato sauce on the side (similar but even better to the sauce that typically comes with pupusas). I know what I'm ordering next time I come! A cherry on top to this whole experience was that our food was taking a bit longer than expected (more than 20 min) and Chef Rock himself came out with our food to apologize (he said it was a longer wait than it should have been) and offered some sodas on the house. We ended up chatting a bit and he is such a genuine, sweet guy. It was a pleasure to make his acquaintance and hear about his inspiration for his creations. This was my first, last, and only time dining at Queen Mother's. I went there to try it for myself on a Wednesday afternoon at around 2:30 pm. I made sure to pick a time when they weren't very busy. Sure enough, when I walked in I was the only one in there. So, I thought I'd get the best of their customer service and food being prepared unrushed. The cashier was a bit rude to me when she told me that I was ordering at the wrong area. That was my first time there and didn't know that they had another establishment in the same spot. She didn't know it was my first time because she failed to ask me. She didn't attempt to give me any suggestions on my order and it overall didn't make me feel very welcomed. I ended up ordering their Queen Mother's Classic Chicken Sandwich with a side of Dirty Rice (because I love a good Dirty Rice). The sandwich had almost a burnt flavor to it... almost like it had been refried a second time. Luckily, the sauce on the sandwich saved it. It still was a 6.5 out of 10 for me, only due to the sauce saving the rating by a couple of points. Their Dirty Rice was unseasoned and unflavorful with only a few specks of meat in it. I give the Dirty Rice a 3 out of 10, which was only because the rice was fluffy and hot. So, my overall rating is a one star due to the lack of customer service and the food was also a no-go. read more

I went when they first opened and I was blown away I went for dinner at a chicken sandwich and it was better than Chick-fil-A since then I've been back a few times to have the brunch I always get the Belgian waffles and the fruit compote. The waffle alone is not your typical waffle it is like biting into Sugar heaven it is a mazing.
