We've used Rack N Road (formerly Sports Rack) for more than 20 years and we've always had great service. Recently we were gearing up the car to drive our son to college and I noticed that my (20-year-old?) Yakima crossbars were rusted and swollen on the ends from the inside such that they would not fit through the brackets. Took them to Rack N Road for help, thinking I may need to replace them. They told me the bars I had were likely too long for our current car and that they could just cut them down a bit from each end to remove the corroded sections. Minor surgery, fixed while I waited... and all for no charge. Needless to say, we'll continue to be repeat customers. read more

Had a tonneau cover installed for my truck. Installation was quick but cover had a few scraps, especially where they tried to install a screw and the drill spun off scrapping the cover. After returning home and noticing the cover lose, I returned asking for them to look at it. They took pictures and said they would contact the manufacturer to determine parts/replacement/warranty. Didn't hear from them after 1 week, so called the manufacturer myself. Provided serial # and model of cover, along with described the issue. They tried contacting Road-n-Rack and talked to the manager, who implied they would contact me to resolve. Never heard from Road-n-Rack. Manufacturer apologized for their service and issue, and sent the needed parts for repair asap. Thank you to the manufacturer, but disappointed by the manager and assistants help with resolving the matter. Good products they sell, but this customer had a bad experience. read more

These guys were great; fast service, reasonable price, great customer service. And I didn't even buy the racks there. I had a set of used racks that I could not get to fit my car; then a piece broke, and I could not get the racks apart to install a replacement piece. Screws stripped and everything. Yeah, that was fun. I called Rack N Road, made an appointment for the next morning, was quoted a reasonable price for installation (I failed to mention the little assembly issue). It was no problem - I just dropped off the car with all the pieces in the back seat. They had it completely installed within 45 minutes, less time than the original estimate. I was also missing 1 of 4 attachment pieces for my box, they went in the back and found me a replacement, no charge. read more

Lazy....I have purchased hitches, rails, for different cars hell even a hulvanator kayak assist rack. Thousands of dollars. Purchased a new set of cross rails for a new car. After mounting them I asked about transferring the kayak assist system to the new cross rails. I was told it was easy. In fact, just roll in and we can do it in ten minutes or so. I pull in right when they open and I have everything in the car. I explain to the counter guy the issue and he does not even step outside to have a look at what I was trying to do ...he just said they were too busy. Maybe if you come back 5 hours from now. So I go outside and I mount the new bars. I go into the store and I look at the display and I can now see the crossbar has to be off and the kayak assist needs to be attached to the new rails.......come to find out when I gave up and decided to do it at home you need the attachment anchors to put in the new rails so you can attach the kayak assist. Must have been pretty funny watching a customer flail around and waste their time with something when the expert is right there and knows you have to have the right parts to make the switch over. When I got home I discovered that if I, in fact, had those parts it would have taken me at most 20 minutes to do the changeover. Nice one pal you lost a repeat customer for what? Not taking the time to understand the issue. I would save money if I was anyone in the market for this kind of merchandise. Buy it on Amazon and if you need to have someone else install it if you can't. Very poor customer service. 6-3-2019 10 am in Bellevue. If you are the owner of this franchise I would be concerned about the customers you are losing when employees get lazy and do not consider their words or actions related to service. A strap broke in a rack that I bought in 2005; though they didn't have the spare parts because they don't sell the rack anymore, they managed to find a strap for me, and one of the sales people found a way to use my existing strap hold with the new strap. They quoted $165 for an installation the manufacturer stated would take 30 minutes and Rack N Road promised to match any "reputable" installers price (except for the company that rhymes with 'U All'). I decided to take the project to my local garage/tire store. Thirty minutes and $52 later I had a perfect installation, and over $100 in my pocket.. I was looking for a good method of transporting my bicycles on my Toyota RAV4. I started out with the usual method of installing my own trailer hitch and using a trailer hitch bike rack. This did not work well as the bike rack rode too low and the bottom of it bottomed out when I hit bumps and scraped a great deal. I went to Rack N Road in Bellevue and they recommended a Yakima spare tire-mounted bike rack. This allowed me to remove my heavy trailer hitch and bike rack and replace it with one unit that sat much higher off the ground. I had Rack N Road install it for me and they did a perfect job. The Technician's name is Josh and he is awesome! He did perfect work and told me how to properly maintain the rack. This new rack works PERFECTLY, no more bottoming-out and it saves a LOT of weight from the rear of my vehicle. This place is a keeper!!! read more

Yesterday I purchased a set of Thule crossbars and ski rack for a new car. The sales rep was knowledgeable and helped me navigate the somewhat confusing landscape of rack options. I did a good amount of research ahead of time, and their prices were comparable to other sellers, including online (and very cool that they give a discount for leaving a Yelp review). The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they didn't have the rack I wanted in stock, and with a ski trip coming up I didn't have time to wait for back-ordered parts so took my second choice -- I'm sure this is the busiest time of year for ski racks, though, so understandable. read more

I cannot thank the guys at RnR enough. I had received a $500 gift as a result of the VW diesel scandal and used it buying some bike racks for another car. I could not get them put on correctly so I went to see the guys at RnR. In my efforts I had managed to overtighten a nut and caused it to be stuck in place. They took apart my roof cross bars, got the rack off, fixed the overtight nut, and then put one of the two on my car for me while showing me the correct way to do it. When I asked how much I owed I was told nothing. To me, that is outstanding service. I've purchased things from them before but they don't know me as a regular customer or anything like that. THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS STORE IN BELLEVUE WASHINGTON AND GOD HELP YOU IF YOU ARE STUCK 2,000 MILES AWAY AND NEED THEIR HELP! A woman hit my vehicle causing damage that required 14 days to repair. My new, just installed Yakima cargo box went from the center of the roof to the side of the vehicle, which damaged the bars holding the cargo box. I called the people in Bellevue and it was hard to get information out of them, they could care less. After a while I was told that the bars would have to be changed. Because of the bar damage I was to put electrical tape on the bars to protect the bars then buy new ones from them when I returned to Washington in May 2014. My body shop repairing the vehicle was glad to help and called these jokers in Bellevue to ask about getting the bars and installing them for me, thus, handling the costs via the insurance claim I had against the other driver. We thought this would be simple. HA. Remember these are auto body people and not into cargo racks so they needed some input from Rack N Road in Bellevue, Washington. Rank N Road told them that they won't ship bars because it costs them too much and for the body shop to look up a closer location online. The body shop called me and you can bet I called Rack N Road in Bellevue. I spent $2000 at their Rack N Road store and was not happy with them and told them they had a no-customer service policy. They did the "used car salesman" shuffle as stated by Aaron F. in his review. I was told a long story about shipping costs; they don't ship anything because of the costs to them and have the customer look up locations on the computer themselves. I asked him to look it up for me as he had the computer right there in front of him and knew how to quickly access the information I needed. He did, but reluctantly. Then he had the nerve to tell me that he gave the information to my body shop. That is a flat out lie. If he did I never would have been involved, the body shop would have taken care of it, after all I am their customer and they give customer service something that Rack N Road does not do. I called my body shop with the information and knew for a fact that Rack N Road never gave the information to the body shop because the body shop reaction to the information was the same as mine.....total surprise; the shop to replace the bars we needed was located north of the auto body shop a few minutes away! I will never use Rack N Road in Bellevue again. I am from Bellevue and will do my best to spread the word. By the way, the owner, Josh, of Rack N Road in Bellevue called and left me a message stating that there was a misunderstanding and a miscommunication. Yeah right. I brought my vehicle in for service, needing a new chrome grill installed on my Jeep Patriot for purely aesthetic reasons. Somehow the vehicle got damaged, but it was never clear exactly who was responsible. Rack n'Road researched this incident thoroughly and to my satisfaction. I was impressed with their honesty, concern and effort to get to the truth. They made a reasonable offer that I agreed to accept, but only if they felt that there was a possibility that they had any culpability for the incident. Perhaps someone walking by inadvertently damaged it when Rack n'Road had the vehicle parked outside their facility...anything is possible. It was their honesty, integrity and determination to get to the truth that bumped this review up to five stars. Less reputable firms would try to sweep issues like this under the carpet. They have performed work for me in the past, and they paid attention to details that most shops would probably ignore, always having concern for my wishes. They ended up spending more time than expected installing running boards and Thule bars on my Jeep, but it was their attention to detail and their insistence do the job right that led to the overtime. I was happy to pay the extra because of the fine job they did, though they left it up to my discretion to pay the extra charges. It's always unfortunate when accidents happen, and sometimes we never find out the truth, but Rack n'Road stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for something they were not necessarily responsible for. This speaks volumes for their work ethic and their integrity. I would not hesitate to bring my vehicle in for service in the future, and would recommend their services to anyone who is looking for a reputable shop that stands behind their work. You always learn more about a company when something goes haywire. Do they step up and do the right thing? Rack n'Road did just this, and that's the highest recommendation I can make. read more

You know I am not a name brand or fancy service type of person. I am a money saver private label Safeway Select type person however when a place really impresses me with their customer service I like to share. Recently we had our Thule skybox fly off the car at 70MPH on I-90. It was secured properly when this happened. There were high winds, like Narrows bridge high winds. Two of my girlfriends were along for this exciting ride. I am so very thankful that the box flew off the car into the ditch on the side of the freeway without hurting anyone. 4 lanes of freeway on this Interstate at 70MPH + can you imagine having a skybox hit your windshield? It could have easily killed someone. We were able to retrieve the box safely and take it home to inspect. The latches on one side were ripped apart as was part of the box itself. The other two latches gave way under the extreme pressure this created. Husband and I were left scratching our heads a bit. These boxes are very expensive and you would think they would have a greater warning directly on the box if there were extra safety measures to take. We decided that since the box had been on the car for some time and latches work their way loose and need tightening... box was empty and lightweight against the wind that probably we did not take enough precaution. We purchased the box at Joe's and they are now out of business. I looked online and Thule does warranty these boxes but in reading reviews other people had a lot of trouble with the process going directly through Thule. We decided we would just buy a new box and would take extra safety measures in the future, tighten down latches, only leave the box on the car when using it and perhaps even add bungee cords for a little extra support. I've seen other people do that. We were prepared to purchase a new skybox and so my husband headed to Rack N Road. Upon speaking with a salesman there the salesman asked about what happened. He told us to bring the box in and he might be able to get Thule to replace it for free. We did and the salesman took pictures, filled out paperwork... we did nothing more. Two days later he called us and said Thule would give us a new box and since Rack N Road had them in inventory we could simply come pick one up. We did! Now we have a new box for free! We did also notice the technology on the latches has changed and is safer. We are still going to be more careful but wow am I impressed! That salesman could have simply sold us a new box. We didn't even buy the first one there and he did all that work to have it replaced! He made no money from us this time but he has won my business for life. I will always go to this store from now on and highly recommend it to others. What FANTASTIC customer service!! read more
