It's is 10:30 on a Sunday and they have two checkout lines open with about 8 people waiting in each. Not good planning.

This is where we do most of our grocery shopping and while many other reviewers have commented that it seems to be an "upscale" kind of place I have never found it as such. I will say that they are usually pretty quick to help you and the staff is generally helpful. I have experienced mediocre service as often as good service in this Ralphs. I will say I have never received what I thought was excellent service, not once. In the last several weeks I have noticed the presence of a "Sales Manager" a gentleman with dark and curly hair. The service I got from him when I needed a coupon for Sobe drinks was the best I have got in here. There is another manager who works evenings and nights who I have in the past felt is irritated to help do their job. There is one major complaint though: I live in an apartment complex that utilizes quarters to run the washer and dryers and I usually buy a tube of quarters weekly to do my laundry. I am practically afraid to ask in this Ralphs for cash back in the form of a roll of quarters. They look at you that it is a huge inconvenience and make you feel pretty bad. It has gotten so uncomfortable that I started getting the quarters from Trader Joe's and I hardly even shop there but they are 100% happy to give the quarters. I thank them for their service every time too. Ralphs should make it their business to be polite when providing cash back whether it is an easy $20.00 bill or a roll of quarters either from the back of the drawer or from the money drawer at the front of the store. Don't make the customer feel bad for asking... One other thing. Please STOP blocking the doors on the deli side of the store at 7PM. You are open until 2AM and you block the doors. This would seem to be against some fire code somewhere. I find this extremely irritating as I am sure many customers do. Overall score is a strong B or a B+. read more

I like this Ralphs. It was pretty clean, easy to navigate, lots of selection, and fairly large. Nice spacious parking lot too. The deli service is always very slow. The checkout section moved very quickly which I appreciate, and the cashier was very friendly. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because the pricing here is very high. Meat is always very expensive and they try to fool you with "sale" signs by the meat, but the "original" prices are already absurd. The produce is always fresh, but again pretty expensive compared to other grocers. read more

This Ralphs is a standard store. All of the aisles are fairly organized and clearly marked. It is a pretty large space and easy to maneuver. The parking lot is large, as they share space with other businesses such as CVS and Starbucks. It's Saturday and I need to stock up for my work lunch. Time to go to Ralph's. BTW..this does not mean, I am not going out to lunch once-in-awhile. I was going to Burbank AMC 6 to watch a movie, but at the same time might as well get my food before the movie starts. I remember driving by this location, but never frequent Burbank grocery stores. The storefront looks like the store in Castaic Lake, but when you walk inside....You will never have thought this was Ralph's. I thought I was at some farmer's market or a Gelsons (which I have never been to). It was huge inside and the store had a relaxing setting. It was BEAUTIFUL. They have self-checkout, an aisle dedicated to cookware and the biggest service deli I have ever seen. Initially, I had trouble trying to find the monster sandwich, but I asked the service lady that they used to put the sandwiches on those island refrigeration with the cheeses and pizza, but they had another aisle for the sandwiches. I saw my sandwiches and found something else unexpected. A LUNCH PACK?! A sandwich with potato salad and chips?! What?! That is an ultimate lunch for me. $4.99 is a STEAL. The sandwich is huge...even bigger than the Monster Sandwiches that they sell. I have been to Ralph's from Van Nuys to Castaic and none of them sell LUNCH PACKS. Oh wow....I think you are imagining me drool. lol. In addition to my lunch pack, I got another Monster Sandwich ($3.99), 2 Frito Lay Chips ($0.99 each with coupon), and a bottle of Orange Juice for the road ($1.79 plus 5 cent CRV) Blasted CRV!! I used the self checkout and it was easy to use and when you use a coupon, the employee will have to scan it. I wish the machine would do it for you. My total was $12.80. This store was awesome. Friendly staff, great selections, and best thing ever is the ENVIRONMENT. I never felt so relaxed in a grocery store. I thought Marta Steward did something to this store. Lots of people here on a weekend, best to come in the evening after 9pm... Though I am a late night owl and usually come before the close so they might even know me by know and hate me as they have to allow me to finish my shopping and can't kick me out ;) Very clean store but the prices at this store are way higher than other Ralph's I have been to. Not sure why.. Produce is pretty fresh and a very clean store. Lots of parking, but beware of idiot's who are too lazy to put their carts back to the cart section and just leave them rolling around the freakin' parking lot to ding your car. I love this store and There is ample parking. The shopping center even has a new IKEA coming in next door, which is very exciting! The store itself is very clean, and you can see the managers out each morning, directing the visual appeal of the store, training staff, etc. They're really on top of things there and have great charisma. Even the public restrooms are kept super-clean and are stocked with air fresheners. I love their freshly-made tender chickens on-site at the counter. The chefs are friendly and are always cooking up new types of rolls.Their produce section is super-clean and organized with loads of fresh, organic produce, which is very important to my family and I. I'm not one to really Yelp about supermarkets, but I'm now a regular here since I work pretty close to it. My co-worker told me about their sushi selection and how it's "not bad for a supermarket." Skeptical, I decided to try it out. It's really not bad! Definitely not as good as Gelson's, but worth it if you're craving sushi. I also like how they have brown rice rolls available and they stuff the wasabi inside a little container for you so all you have to do is pour the soy sauce in there. Genius. The supermarket as a whole is very nice. It has that romantic dim lighting and looks new. My only gripe is that sometimes I like to shop during my lunch hour too and this place has a very small selection of organic veggies and fruits. They also have a Red Box there! read more

My review, based soley on the turkey sammy bought as dinner for the trip back home. Toppings, salty; mostly black olives and salty pickles, yuck. The turkey, a skimpy serving and again salty, bread; soft and fairly tasteless. Seriously the worst deli sandwich I've ever had and I'm including Subway in this list. I've made some trips to this Ralph's location a couple of times, it's conveniently located in a shopping center next to a CVS, Starbucks and Togos. The store is always kept clean, aisles are pretty spacious, so you can really take your time. The service/deli area is definitely bigger than other ones I've been to, but never tried any of their food. Plenty of parking, even on a busy weekend. Never had a problem Shelves are always bare whenever I go in. Either they're out of stock of a particular item or they don't carry said item anymore and forget trying to get a team members attention, I feel like they're non-existent at this store. Like others have said this location could care less about social distancing. People crowded all over the place. Not cleaning the carts. No announcements to keep a 6 foot distance other than whats on the floor. No limits to how many people go into the store. If you care about social distancing this place isn't for you. read more

I like this Alameda store. The only reason I give 1 star to draw attention to what happened just an hour ego. A black employee, braided hair pulled back commanded me to leave the store! I had my face totally covered with the mask.I've never seen her before, her name could be Marilyn, don't really remember. She seems followed me all the way from the flower counter to dairy department, told me my nose had to be covered. OK,you are right, but being so so rude? My favorite Ralph's branch. I alway drive between Burbank, LaCrescenta, & Sunland because of my job. So I always like to stop by at this location to do my groceries before I go home. This cross street is my favorite neighborhood & I'm glad that there's Ralph's in there. The store size is huge! And also very clean and well organized. There were times were I needed assistance or had a question, the staff have always been caring & nice & so are the cashiers whenever I don't do the self-checkouts. I highly recommend this location. The first time I walked into Ralph's, it was like coming home. Back in Salt Lake City (where I was located prior) we have Ralph's, although there they are known as Smith's. Thank you corporate America and Fred Meyer for making this possible. All jokes aside, Ralph's is neither the best nor the worst place to do your shopping. It is comfortably mediocre across the board. 95% of the time it has what you're looking for. Maybe not the highest quality version of what you're looking for, but they do have it. And that's not to say that Ralph's doesn't occasionally surprise, because year after year I see that more high end, organic items appear on shelves. It's gradual, but noticeable. I live for the self checkout. It's definitely one of the reasons I continue to come to this location. And fuel rewards. I've saved up to $2.00 on gas before, and trust me, ESPECIALLY in California that adds up. It's definitely not on Whole Foods, Bristol Farms or Lazy Acres pedigree, but it's a decent enough store for basics. The rewards program they have really can be helpful if you're someone who doesn't mind the familiarity and basic-ness of it all. read more

They still post the hours as 1 AM, but claim to be open to 12 AM. However, they seem to close at 1145 or earlier. Staying open longer would keep us safer, but at least fix your damn signs and keep the shelves stocked. read more

This Ralph's is the most convenient location for me. Though I prefer Trader Joe's to any other grocery store, this Ralph's is okay. I actually like their prepared sushi, I get it almost once a week. It's definitely not from a restaurant, but as prepared sushi gets, it's decent! They always have long lines, ALWAYS! My best bet is to do the self checkout when I don't have a lot of items. Otherwise, I stand in line for a loooong time. They have a good selection of food and it's always clean. There are not a lot of salad bar type options at this store. Also, they don't have a pharmacy, you have to go to the CVS that shares the same parking lot. This is a pain, as I would prefer to be able to do everything in the same store. read more

Certainly some things that can be fixed, like not having the small carriers at the door (must find at the checkout), the parking lot in general, and some other things. I attempted to Purchase balloons from the floral section yesterday 4/20/2017. I walked in, nobody was servicing this area. I asked a cashier to call someone to help me blow up some balloons. She paged someone 3 times, while I was waiting there for 15 minutes, that person did not arrive. I went over to the manager and asked if he or someone can help me blow up some balloons. His response was "the person is not there, I will page someone else" and so he did, and so I waited for 10 minutes. Grand total of 25 Minutes. I asked if he could please just blow up a couple balloons. He was soo incredibly rude and basically told me to go away. I did not catch the manager's name but he was of Hispanic descent with a mustache. I was planning to purchase other items that day but the behavior of the staff and this particular manager was inexcusable, therefore, I will never shop at Ralph's ever again. read more

Ralphs! How I love thee. When I first moved to California, I figured I was going to need to establish an allegiance to a new supermarket chain, like I had back East. (I'd grown up with Stop & Shop, but Shaw's has since stolen the crown.) Anyway, I tried out my local Ralphs, Vons and Albertson's; Ralphs is the closest to where I live, so it was first on the list and easily the best -- the Vons on Pass Avenue has freakishly narrow aisles and is overpriced; the Albertson's just off Hollywood Way has a strangely bleak vibe that makes me fear the End Times are just around the corner (which I guess means that the Apocalypse will take place near the corner with Verdugo). Ralphs has it all -- super-friendly staff to start with. The cashiers always say hi, and the manager and security guards now say "Nice to see you again!" The produce is very fresh, and there is a more than adequate selection with a good organic section. More fresh herbs would be nice, but eh. The deli has just about every kind of meat or cheese for sandwiches you could want, and tons of ready-to-eat things like salads, noodles, etc. The bakery stuff I've had is pretty good too. Aisles are wide and long, and the variety is fantastic. The beer and wine aisle is particularly good. Only thing they could use more of is a selection of British foods, which I was used to in Connecticut -- I miss my Mint Viscounts and Lucozade. I agree the bagging could be better, but I tend to do self-checkout so if it's not done well it's my own fault. My mom came to visit the other month and she accompanied me to Ralphs. It got the Mom Seal of Approval, which is the ne plus ultra endorsement for me. read more

This Ralph's is much improved. It used to be very slow and I'll equipped to handle the early evening rush of shoppers. They have added self check outs, and keep more employees on staff than once before. Post remodel, I'd say this Ralph's is the best Grocery Store in the Lake-Alameda neighborhood of Burbank, if not all of Burbank. You will pay for the quality of food and cleanliness of the store, but with a Ralph's Club card it all tends to work out reasonably. read more

I like this store. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The managers actually care about the store. My favorite part is the baking section. It's super well organized and it's easy to find all the spices and things you need to cook or bake. The produce is fresh and if something expires soon they sell it for super cheap. I wish Ralphs had an app that's as fluid as the Vons app, but that doesn't reflect on this store in specific, obviously Exiting the parking lot can be a pain. You may have to wait a light during peak hours ALSO: They play upbeat tunes in the store, which I appreciate. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm a loyal Ralph's customer , and I do 90% of my grocery shopping at their store ! I usually shop at the Buena Vista location but their bakery dept was no longer taking cake orders for SuperBowl weekend , so I drove to this location . Let me tell you their customer service SUCKS!! Here it goes : I walked up to the bakery counter and a blonde lady was standing there so I asked her if I can place an order for 2 cakes , she looks very annoyed at my request and proceeds to tell me she's busy and the manager can take my order . I ask her where is the manager ? Can you call him ? She tells me no I can't , can you look for him ? He's around here somewhere . She starts to describe what he looks like , so I can look for him .. I asked her again to call him and she continues describing him and saying I think he's coming right now ! Obviously this lady didn't want to take time out of her busy schedule to help me out , so I walked out of the store and took my business elsewhere . SideNote : I made several attempts to place the order by phone prior to coming in and no one answered the phone ! But seeing how annoyed she looked , I'm pretty sure they ignore phone calls too ! So glad this isn't my local Ralph's ! read more
