If you're looking for a rich broth, this place is the spot! The meat was soft and the noodles had the perfect bite. I really liked their chili powder they have on the table, it adds extra flavor with the crispy garlic and crispy onions inside. The service was great.

Short, 10 min wait on a Sunday evening. Service was very fast (almost too fast... once you sit they immediately ask if you're ready to order and come back every minute or so until you're ready). We decided to try the highly recommended gyozas but they were quite mediocre- I would skip. Ramen was very tasty. Good, thick broth. The pork was outstanding!! And the egg was perfectly jammy. Toppings that come included are plenty. I also really liked that for $2, you can refill on a sizable amount of noodles for your remaining broth.

It was a date night on a Thursday evening, and the restaurant was packed. I've been coming here for a while, but this was my first disappointing experience. The food was still tasty--nothing major to complain about in terms of flavor--but the portions felt noticeably smaller, both the noodles and the toppings. I had the spicy miso, and my girlfriend ordered a lighter version. The bigger issue was the service. I understand they get busy and want to turn tables quickly, but it felt like we were being rushed out. As I was finishing up, they asked if I wanted extra noodles, and the moment I said no, they brought the check, even though my girlfriend was still eating. Right after we finished, they cleared everything off the table immediately, which made it feel even more rushed. Another small but frustrating moment: when my girlfriend asked for a lemon, the server seemed irritated and just said no, flat out. Overall, still a solid spot food-wise, but the experience this time didn't match what I was used to.

As much as I want to give this place a perfect score because their ramen was pretty good. Just have few things I want to share. First is the seating, though it may not be a big deal, the stools are too high for the table so it's hard to enjoy the ramen when you're hunched over so your back will start to hurt. The second, when we arrived there, there was no sign up sheet and we were just told to wait outside with the other customers. The good thing was that the other customers were nice so we all figured out who is next. For a restaurant, not having a sign up sheet is just mind boggling. And finally, the Japanese waitress, what's with the attitude and unfriendliness? Very un-Japanese customer service like. I'm well aware of Japanese hospitality but her, wasn't there that day. I guess she embraced American customer service culture. I might not come back or recommend this place.

We were craving ramen and found this spot. It was pretty good! I'm not a big ramen person myself I've only probably had it twice in my life and I enjoyed the light broth and thin noodles. The crispy chasu wraps were good. The chicken wings had good crunch but it was missing the teriyaki flavor for me i wish it had more sauce. I enjoyed the roll as well I just wish the pieces were cut thinner and there was less mayo. The inside was cute we sat at the bar and it was fun being handed our food and the service was nice.

Ramen is really tasty and flavorful. Restaurant is clean. It's a little small and can get busy. Staff was nice and fast. I would recommend this place. Definitely add their seasoning if you want some spice

My boyfriend and I decided to try a new spot. We got the koku tonkotsu ramen - the broth was delicious and rich and the meat was nice and tender. He likes this place better than Ramen Nagi!

There's the best ramen, there's my favorite ramen, and the crossroads where those meet is at Tatsunoya. I've been going here for years and found they have perfect balance of depth of flavor and consistency of it. Amazing food + Attentive service + jazz playing overhead = Great time and chill vibes. Here's what I recommend: Appetizers: Tatsunoya roll ($9.50): Best app in the biz. Seasoned rice, chashu, avocado topped with kewpie and seaweed. Teriyaki chicken wings ($9): Juicy, crispy with a deep sweet-salty soy flavor. Honestly the best chicken wings I've ever had. Asian Tortilla Chips ($5.50): Crispy wonton wrappers with a kimchi-mayo-chashu dip, loved it. Ramen: Jun Tonkotsu ($15.80): The classic. Perfectly balanced as all ramen should be Koku Tonkotsu ($16.80): The my go-to. Garlicky, rich umami and bold fatty flavor.

I honestly don't like fighting crowds to eat so I never went to Tatsunoya despite great reviews for their ramen cause there was always a line! The hype has died down and I plan to go again to try the food fresh outta the kitchen. I recently returned from a trip to Japan and was missing ramen so much I wound up ordering some from here. We ordered: - Koku Tonkotsu: rich tonkotsu with chunks of pork back fat and thin noodles--not sure if it's still hakata ramen if the broth has pork fat chunks - Spicy Miso Tonkotsu: slightly spicy with a rich umami taste, came with thick noodles and pork fat as well - Gyoza: standard gyoza with a nice porky filling (not overly filled with vegetables) Both ramens were delicious, the broth is some of the best I've had stateside. Unfortunately, even though Tatsunoya is from Japan, the noodles don't come close to ramen noodles in Japan :( they really lack the chewiness of freshly made noodles. Price is pretty standard but no means cheap, almost $20 a bowl and adding a ramen egg is $3!! If you're paying the same at most ramen places in the city, Tatsunoya is one of the most authentic options available.

Mostly here to shout out their vegan ramen, which is one of the best I've had at a restaurant and features a broth with incredible body and flavor (very rare in a plant-based one, sadly). There is not much else vegetarian on the menu besides their edamame, but I would gladly return again and again for this ramen. We were lucky that there was no line for the restaurant around 6 pm on a Friday, but it was certainly accumulating as we left.

Ramen Tatsunoya in Pasadena is a solid choice when you're craving a comforting bowl of ramen. It can get busy, during peak hours. ::Food:: I ordered the JUN, which features Tatsunoya's original mild tonkotsu pork broth. The broth was rich and creamy. The pork flavor was well balanced and comforting. The noodles had a nice bite and held up well in the broth. Each component came together nicely, and the bowl felt thoughtfully put together. This is a great option if you like tonkotsu that's flavorful but on the lighter side. ::Customer Service:: The staff were welcoming and friendly. Our order came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything arrived hot and well prepared. ::M's Notes:: -Indoor seating -Parking options include street parking, nearby lots, or garages.

I came here on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. The line wrapped around the side of the shop. I thought the wait would be hell but my boyfriend and I didn't wait for more than 10 minutes. We both got the koku ramen. The broth was very flavorful and rich. The fattiness of the broth was actually pretty addicting. It was a bit on the saltier side and I didn't mind that. There were two pieces of meat and the bowl of ramen wasn't as big as other places. I actually thought everything was delicious but at $11.80 a bowl, the price was a bit steep for the portion. Parking is all right. They have a structure and there's street parking. Unfortunately, they do not validate.

    Jun (mild pork tonkatsu broth)
    Vivian Q.

4.5 stars I have passed by this spot a few times and finally stopped in to try the ramen here. I ordered the Jun, which is a lighter pork tonkatsu broth, and found it to be perfectly flavorful for my tastes. The chashu melts in your mouth, I just wish there were more pieces! I also added an egg, and although it was the right consistency and seasoning, it was unpleasantly cold. This place is definitely popular so it can get crowded.

    Not at this location

Went there today (4/11/23) and they were closed. Will they reopen soon?

I drove by yesterday 4/12/23 around 5pm and they were closed. There appears to be a sign in the door but I didn't park to go read it

I went there today and they are closed? they will open back on tue 3/21/23

    Are they closed?

Are they closed permanently? It's stated it closed on google! :(

They are on vacay until 7/15. To reopen on 7/16.

Is the Pasadena location still open? On google it says "temporarily closed" and the phone number isn't working.

It's open and their Ramen is on point

Hi, will there be vegetarian ramen available in April?

They only have the seasonal menu chicken shoyu and Italian for April.

Are there vegetarian options? I see conflicting answers on here.

Where can you park and do they validate?

Not sure about parking validation but you have 3 parking lots within walking distance that offer 90 minutes of parking free. Go to this link and choose "Park and Walk" lots: https://www.oldpasadena.org/visit/maps-and-parking/

Do you have gluten free noodles?

No, there are only one kind of noodle

How much are the ramen and are there any vegetarian food?

The ramen bowls are about $13, and while meat can be removed, there is only pork broth unless the seasonal ramen they have is different.

We ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen($15.99) and Tonkotsu Ramen($16.99) for our own bowls and the snowy karaage fried chicken ($7.99) to share. The two ramen bowls were extremely delicious. Portions are very much standard which is great. Presentation is always a high standard when it comes to ramen and this restaurant upholds that standard. The flavoring were just perfect, nothing too overwhelming and not too salty as well which is always great to see. Love each and every bite. The karaage are absolutely delicious. One of the best I've ever eaten. Deep fried served with mayonnaise which adds tons of flavoring. Even without the mayo, it's very flavorful regardless, the snowy flakes adds a bit of texture to each bite as well which makes this a top tier dish. Highly recommend. Overall, a great ramen restaurant. We left the restaurant very fulfilled and excited to add this to the list of top restaurants in California. If I'm extra hungry I will add extra noodles but their other appetizers such as their fried rice have never really wowed me, but hey, not for me. One thing that I do not get even though I am rating five stars is why they serve extra noodles immediately with your bowl of ramen. By the time you're done with your first portion of noodles, the second portion is a noodle brick that you have to pry apart in your bowl with your chopsticks. Ramen Tatsunoya handles "kaedama" wayyyyy better in the respect that it's to order and they bring it out almost instantly after you order it with extra green onions, wood ear mushrooms, etc. Tatsu definitely has the ability to pump out a bowl of ramen fast - so I know they could do this too with just a little extra care between front of house and back of house staff. Please consider it. Your customers ordering extra noodles will immediately notice a quality difference getting to eat fresh noodles!

HAKATA SET (Your choice of: Tonkotsu or Miso Ramen, comes with Mini Spicy Tuna Don, Chicken Karaage 2 pcs, Tsukemono) This was one of the set items for the lunch special. Chose the miso ramen. The miso ramen had a very strong white miso flavor. Didn't hate it, as I do love miso, but it was a little too much miso for my liking. Typical curly ramen and it was cooked well. Loved the jammy egg too. It was a soy marinated egg. There were also three pieces of chashu too! It was good, but slightly overcooked. The portion of the ramen was medium sized and was surprised they didn't bring a smaller size since it was a set meal. But happy they were generous! Spicy tuna don was a small bowl, but they gave a good portion of spicy tuna, which was delicious. Chicken karaage were two pieces of chicken and it was just okay. No tsukemono was served with the meal. Overall the meal was satisfying. I think the price was fair for what was given. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good, friendly and attentive customer service. No complaints! Rates: $1.00 first 2 hrs, $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for the full day. I liked the set menu, it was good for the price and I would like to return to try their other lunch menu items, whether it would be a set menu or a la carte.

My kids and I actually preferred the less premium fish. The ramen was okay. Didn't stand out from other ramen restaurants. But you do get a lot of food out of the set.

They were incredibly kind, checked on us every few minutes, kept us updated, and even comped part of our meal and surprised us all with complimentary dessert. That level of hospitality really stood out. A special shoutout to Sho, who took over our table. He was so charismatic, friendly, and genuinely made the whole experience so much better despite the wait. Honestly, if he ever decides to stop working here, he would make a great bombshell on Love Island The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was great, and everyone we interacted with was so sweet and attentive. Even though the wait was longer than expected, the amazing customer service more than made up for it. We really appreciated how much the staff cared about making things right, and we'll definitely be back!

Love this spot. Shabu is fresh, delicious and authentic. The Kurobuta Pork Loin is very lean and tasty. The Black Angus Ribeye also very nice. Their ponzu has something else added but really nice. Not sure if it had a dash of sake but love their ponzu sauce. Lunch time at counter for shabu fills up quickly so be ready to wait in line if all shabu stations are occupied. Still worth the wait. Once seated, you'll get served fairly quickly. Excellent and very friendly service. Love our initial experience here. Definitely will be back. Happy Eating!!!

Popped into Noodle St. in Old Town Pasadena for an early lunch, and was thrilled to discover this…read moresmall chain offering Asian fusion creations. It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.
