That was a lovely meal. The potatoes and salad were unlike other dishes I've had. I enjoyed the noodles with mushrooms too. Delish!

Great food and even better service! We stopped in for dinner and were promptly seated, with a quick note to order at the counter. The cocktails are pre-batched, but don't let that fool you because they were all superb. The bartender did an excellent job bringing out the spices and nuanced flavors in each drink. For food, we ordered: Laphet/ Tea Leaf Salad kyet thar kyaw /Chicken and Rice Khao pyane sane All dishes were flavorful and beautifully balanced. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were genuinely kind and took the time to chat with us about the drinks ,they could tell how much we were enjoying them! A wonderful spot all around with great food, thoughtful drinks, and warm, engaging service. Highly recommend!

Great Burmese food in the breathe building off Hawthorne. Perfect place for a snack / meal after yoga. All the dishes I've had here a good. Prices reasonable and spice level is just right. They are moving a few blocks east in Mar 2026

Rangoon Bistro is a very good and very charming local spot. VERY unique menu (be sure to get the giant dumpling), and expertly-cooked food. Portion sizes are generous, and perfect for sharing. The fried chicken was a particular standout...VERY crispy and very well-prepared. Parking is street-only, and the area is VERY busy, so be prepared to park a few blocks (or more) away. I highly recommend stopping in for some outstanding food (and a restroom in the adjoining yoga studio...quaint).

A laid back Burmese spot with delicious salads! The texture and flavor combos in both the Tea Leaf and Ginger Salads were very nice. Easily my favorite dishes of the night. The Beef Curry and Fried Chicken were decent. Found the meat to be a tad dry but flavors were good and really enjoyed the coconut rice. Mushroom Noodles were tasty too. Noodles were well-cooked. Staffs were friendly and helpful with peanut allergies. It's a fun and unique meal but I'm not rushing to go back.

We got the tea leaf salad, ginger salad, fried chicken, mushroom noodles, and the beef and potato curry. The salads were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend - the mixture of textures were delightful. The mushroom noodles were the definite standout though! I was disappointed by the beef and potato curry- the beef seems quite dry and the dish was nothing special but everything else was a hit! The portion sizes were also quite generous.

I'm a sucker for good Burmese food. I always must have my fix when visiting Portland! We stopped by here after hanging around Mt. Tabor since it was conveniently nearby. We got tea leaf salad, fried potatoes, 3 pc chicken with coconut rice, and beef curry. Everything was DELICIOUS, we over-ordered, but no regrets at all. Service was good. Great inside decor, however the bathroom was also shared with a gym locker room, so not the most convenient, but fine nevertheless. Would come back if I'm in the area!

Fantastic! This is the second time I have been, and I was blown away by the food. It's so good and definitely a little different from your average restaurant. Went for a work dinner, we ended up getting some of everything, and I loved it all. Order at counter and they bring it out to your table, super fast service for a bigger group (7) which was great!

This small restaurant had tables and counters set up for customers and it was busy. They were very efficient in taking orders at the counter and bringing the food out as it's ready. We ordered a few different things to share with our group. A large dumpling, a spicy carrot salad, two orders of fried chicken with coconut rice, and a pork noodle dish. Plenty of food and it was all delicious.

Good atmosphere and nice staff. We got the giant dumpling and potatoes for appetizers. The dumpling was a little heavy on the vinegar but the seasoning on the potatoes were amazing! For entree we got the ribs, pork noodles, and fried chicken. Good flavors and portions. Overall: 7/10, Get the potatoes.

My curious friend and I decided to try Rangoon Bistro for Burmese food, and we were not disappointed! You order inside at the counter, choose a table inside or outside on the patio, then a server will bring your food and clean your table afterwards. The person who took our order was friendly and offered helpful suggestions. We shared the Lahpet Salad which had a unique combination of green tea leaves, shredded cabbage, crunchy peanuts, and garlic and fish oil. I also ordered the Shan Khao Swe - rice noodles, pork, mustard greens and peanuts, and a large dumpling which was indeed, gigantic! We enjoyed our meals and liked the interesting flavors and added crunch from the peanuts. Definitely check this place out!

While traveling, I stumbled upon Rangoon Bistro on a mission to find some good vegan food. Their Mushroom Mala Ci Chet ($18) was bursting with rich, spicy, earthy flavors that made each bite more satisfying than the last. I left feeling both full and incredibly satisfied with the dish. We were a large group, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our dishes were served, piping hot and beautifully presented. The space itself is spacious and warmly inviting, perfect for settling in with friends or family and truly enjoying the meal. Rangoon Bistro is a vibrant, affordable gem that's sure to make any vegan (or non-vegan) food lover's heart happy. An absolute must-visit if you're craving bold flavors and a memorable dining experience.

Uh wow! What an amazing meal! We ordered the special crispy potatoes and the fried chicken. The crispy potatoes were incredible! Crispy on the outside but the inside just melted in your mouth. I've never had anything like it! The fried chicken was juicy and so flavorful. The coconut rice that came with it was also a great touch as the sweetness balanced out the salt in the chicken. Very cute and small place with a chefs table so we got to watch the chef cook. Overall, an excellent meal and I already can't wait to come back!

While a few things stood out, the meal as a whole didn't quite hit the high marks I was hoping for. Here is how it broke down: The Starters (The Highlight): Karaage (Fried Chicken): This was easily the best part of the meal. The pieces were large, juicy, and had a great, ultra-crispy crunch on the outside. Takoyaki: Decent texture and well-presented on a long plate with plenty of bonito flakes, making it a solid appetizer to share. The Mains (A Bit Average): Spicy Ramen: The noodles had a good chew, but the broth lacked the deep, rich complexity you expect from a really stellar ramen. Even with the spicy paste mixed in, the flavor profile felt a bit flat. Chashu Don (Rice Bowl): While it was a generous portion packed with chopped chashu and minced meat, it ended up tasting a bit monotone after a few bites and could have used more balance or a punchier sauce. Overall, it's a fine spot if you want a quick, filling meal, but the flavors didn't quite wow me enough to make it a standout. Solid, but nothing mind-blowing.

Dearest gentle readers,…read more A most scandalous correction must be issued how careless of me. The establishment in question is none other than the divine Grassa, a name that now rolls off the tongue with the same richness as its most indulgent fare. And oh, what fare it is. Here, along the lively stretch of Portland, one may witness noodles brought to life before their very eyes fresh, authentic, and handled with a confidence that borders on audacity. These delicate strands are then enrobed in a mac and cheese so decadently composed, so brazenly elevated, that it dares to redefine comfort itself. And just when one believes it cannot be improved enter the pig belly. Crisp, tender, and unapologetically rich... a finishing touch that transforms the dish into something whispered about in only the most exclusive of circles. Yes, dear reader, this is the sort of indulgence that lingers long after the final bite... the kind that ruins lesser versions without remorse. And so, with that final truth properly set, I take my leave once more. The tales of this fair city draw to a close, but not without leaving behind a most delicious legacy.
