What a great experience. I came later on a Friday evening. I love their concept of grabbing a menu, finding your seat, and when ready going back up to counter to order. They were patient and explained the process given it was my first time. Food was lovely. I even got an extra mushroom noodles from the kitchen that was extra. They also have some outside seating. Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor.

Chill casual restaurant, order at counter with indoor and outdoor seating available. I came for a weekday dinner and it wasn't crowded. The food was great! I have celiac (gluten-free) and I'm vegetarian, and while it's not a dedicated GF facility, they can take precautions and have plenty of options available. We had the chickpea tofu curry, which is actually tofu-like cubes made from chickpea in a tomato curry sauce with peanuts. It was a great savory and well balanced dish. The tea leaf salad was also great, though the vegetarian version has no substitute for the fish sauce so it's probably a bit less savory than the original. Enjoyed the unique delicious food here overall!

Admittedly, I have only had takeout from Rangoon Bistro. I intend to dine in soon, and they just moved locations in SE. Most recently I ordered the Laphet salad and the "KPS" also known as very large dumpling. Both were good. I might actually like them to be smaller, as the dumpling was a little gooey, and the salad took me so long to eat that it got a little soggy. They're very unique flavors that I don't crave all the time, but when I want them, these hit the mark. I'd love to try it their curry, potatoes, noodles, or chicken next time.

I was truly impressed with this restaurant! The food was perfectly seasoned and super tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors were balanced. The carrot salad was a unique and healthy treat. The crunch of the carrots tossed in a bold lime and fish sauce was balanced with a hint of sweetness and chili spice. The roasted peanuts added more texture to the crunch. It was nice to eat that with the other dishes we got like a crunchy pickle addition. The large dumpling was yummy- it was juicy and bursting with meat. The chili soy sauce it sat in was nice to drizzle on the other food we got. The pork spare ribs just fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. It wasn't too fatty bc it was braised. They had nice caramelized fried shallots on top for extra flavor. They had a special hot toddy that was the best I've ever had. Served with bourbon, mezcal, lemon, honey, tamarind and masala- it had a nice balance of spices and tang. It was perfect as we sat outside enjoying a mild evening with our dog. Service was fast and friendly!! The staff are so sweet and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do!

Great food and even better service! We stopped in for dinner and were promptly seated, with a quick note to order at the counter. The cocktails are pre-batched, but don't let that fool you because they were all superb. The bartender did an excellent job bringing out the spices and nuanced flavors in each drink. For food, we ordered: Laphet/ Tea Leaf Salad kyet thar kyaw /Chicken and Rice Khao pyane sane All dishes were flavorful and beautifully balanced. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were genuinely kind and took the time to chat with us about the drinks ,they could tell how much we were enjoying them! A wonderful spot all around with great food, thoughtful drinks, and warm, engaging service. Highly recommend!

That was a lovely meal. The potatoes and salad were unlike other dishes I've had. I enjoyed the noodles with mushrooms too. Delish!

Rangoon Bistro is a very good and very charming local spot. VERY unique menu (be sure to get the giant dumpling), and expertly-cooked food. Portion sizes are generous, and perfect for sharing. The fried chicken was a particular standout...VERY crispy and very well-prepared. Parking is street-only, and the area is VERY busy, so be prepared to park a few blocks (or more) away. I highly recommend stopping in for some outstanding food (and a restroom in the adjoining yoga studio...quaint).

A laid back Burmese spot with delicious salads! The texture and flavor combos in both the Tea Leaf and Ginger Salads were very nice. Easily my favorite dishes of the night. The Beef Curry and Fried Chicken were decent. Found the meat to be a tad dry but flavors were good and really enjoyed the coconut rice. Mushroom Noodles were tasty too. Noodles were well-cooked. Staffs were friendly and helpful with peanut allergies. It's a fun and unique meal but I'm not rushing to go back.

Great Burmese food in the breathe building off Hawthorne. Perfect place for a snack / meal after yoga. All the dishes I've had here a good. Prices reasonable and spice level is just right. They are moving a few blocks east in Mar 2026

We got the tea leaf salad, ginger salad, fried chicken, mushroom noodles, and the beef and potato curry. The salads were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend - the mixture of textures were delightful. The mushroom noodles were the definite standout though! I was disappointed by the beef and potato curry- the beef seems quite dry and the dish was nothing special but everything else was a hit! The portion sizes were also quite generous.

I'm a sucker for good Burmese food. I always must have my fix when visiting Portland! We stopped by here after hanging around Mt. Tabor since it was conveniently nearby. We got tea leaf salad, fried potatoes, 3 pc chicken with coconut rice, and beef curry. Everything was DELICIOUS, we over-ordered, but no regrets at all. Service was good. Great inside decor, however the bathroom was also shared with a gym locker room, so not the most convenient, but fine nevertheless. Would come back if I'm in the area!

Fantastic! This is the second time I have been, and I was blown away by the food. It's so good and definitely a little different from your average restaurant. Went for a work dinner, we ended up getting some of everything, and I loved it all. Order at counter and they bring it out to your table, super fast service for a bigger group (7) which was great!

This small restaurant had tables and counters set up for customers and it was busy. They were very efficient in taking orders at the counter and bringing the food out as it's ready. We ordered a few different things to share with our group. A large dumpling, a spicy carrot salad, two orders of fried chicken with coconut rice, and a pork noodle dish. Plenty of food and it was all delicious.

Dumpling was very good but ribs, fried chicken, and carrot salad were all mediocre at best.
