Based on this shop's ATRA membership and numerous positive customer reviews, I visited the shop. The shop was very busy, but Paul took time to meet with me. After listening to a description of my truck's symptoms, Paul said it may or may not be the transmission, but he'd need to see the truck to know for sure. I had the truck towed to Paul's shop the next day and, within two hours of delivery, Paul called to advise that the transmission was fine, but the engine had a (suspected fuel-related) issue. Paul kindly recommended a nearby diesel repair shop (Lead Foot Diesel Performance) and he even scheduled a tow for my truck. Based on my experience with Paul, his shop would be my destination for any future transmission repairs. I went through with a full rebuild. The second I got the car back, I noticed the torque converter locking at very low RPMs in overdrive, bogging the engine down. A couple days later, the car started banging into drive and reverse, then started giving me back shots when it downshifted into 1st gear at stops. They told me it's the shift kit, even though the kit they used is supposed to solve jerks and clunks, but who am I to tell the techs. It didn't fix anything. The car still drives like bum and is honestly really annoying to drive. I also had a common bulkhead connector leak after the rebuild, which makes me question the entire rebuild. They told me to take it to the dealer, but seeing how Ford operates after a $200 diagnostic fee, it's not worth it. This shop charged me $4,500 for the rebuild, which is more expensive than other shops in the area. I chose them based on reviews. I'm giving 1 stars only because it hasn't blown up yet at 2.5k miles, but that's about it. They won't even tell me what torque converter brand is in the car, and they put the blame on anything as long as it's not the transmission. The invoice is extremely vague. I don't know if you should take your car here or not. There are different scenarios and models, so my outcome may not be like yours. Nothing is wrong with my differential or driveshaft. The car was silky smooth before the pump failure. These issues happened day one after the rebuild. My daughter had her car serviced, and it was returned to her 1 & 1/2 months later with the backs of her driver and passenger seats peeled off. Mike, the owner, says that it was because of it sitting in the heat at their establishment. With that explanation, that would still result in the fault being on the company because of them leaving the vehicles outside in direct sunlight and heat. The owner Mike showed no empathy or concern and blamed the Georgia heat and BMWs manufacturing. My daughters car has sat outside in the direct heat and sunlight for over 6 years, as she does not park in the garage, so that excuse would not make any sense. The owner Mike yelled, was very defensive, and stated that it was not his fault and that he will NOT fix her seats, after being questioned about it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I would recommend taking your vehicle somewhere that will fix whatever issue your car is having, and return it to you without additional issues.
