Ras noodle has delicious thai food, on par with some of the best and holiest in the walls. It's not the fanciest place, but the prices are good, the taste is good and while it's a bit far from anything I ever go to, it was worth the extra detour. The boat noodle flavor is thick and tasty. My favorite restaurant in L.A.! I have been coming here for more than a decade and this is authentic Thai restaurnt that has some of the best thai noodle soups among other things. I believe my go to dish, Doo Dee Noodles, can only be found here. The most delicious clear broth, 4 kinds of pork, dried shrimp, string beans, bean sprouts, cilantro, fried garlic and peanuts. They are happy to make substitutions and I have never seen better to go packaging. read more

This place has the most authentic Thai boat noodle, same flavor as the one I had in Bangkok :). I usually order it with flat noodles. The food come out really fast and fresh. Came for a lunch and it's a tucked-in a wall kind of store where it's not great for large groups, but if you are 1-4 people, it'll work out decently. The store has a small parking lot in front of it, but it's shared with different store fronts so parking can be difficult if you aren't lucky. The place doesn't have much frills, but it's neat and showcases their food, which I honestly thought was their main selling point, because it's really an unassuming place and you wouldn't necessarily try unless you are recommended the place, which was what happened for us. In total, we had their yen tao fu, boat noodle, duck over rice, Tom Kha soup, larb (pork) and pad se ew. In total, we enjoyed their food greatly. I am also glad the waitress told us to try mild first as their spice levels are not the typical spice levels and more of a Thai spice level. Which again, I'm glad as I could only handle their mild. The boat noodle broth had such a strong savory taste to it and it was absolutely delectable. The ingredients were plenty and the pork liver in it wasn't overcooked and it was just right where it's soft and supple still. The yen tao fu is a very interesting broth base where we were warned it has a tofu fermented taste and it's pink. We liked it very much and it was a very unique broth. The ingredients on top were also plentiful and it surprised us they gave snow fungus as well. The duck on rice was a simple, but plentiful dish with a good amount of each item (rice, Chinese broccoli, duck). The duck was supple, not dry, and decent flavorings behind it. The pad se ew was nicely coated with a sweet and savory sauce to it and what we liked the most was the wok hay (breath of wok/wok energy) was decent. You could literally taste it was freshly wok'ed prior to serving. The larb was nicely cooked and seasoned with no just the spices but the lime juices as well. Made a nice appetizer as it had a kick and tang to it. Lastly, the soup had a lot of galanga to it and lemon grass to it so it packed a heavy flavor profile. The seafood in it was cooked in the soup itself so it absorbed the strong flavors as well, which made the soup stand out by itself. All in all, well deserving of a decent recommendation and I would honestly come back to have them again. Well worth a try to formulate your own opinions. read more

I don't come to this place often because it reminds me when my mom was hospitalized across the street and doing what I do, I yelped what there is to eat in the area. I needed it to be quick and easy, so I can spend time with my mom. RAS noodle was across the street, highly rated and most reviewed, so I decided to check it out. It is amazingly bomb food. I really like their ground chicken with basil and fried egg over rice! I get MILD spicy because their MEDIUM spicy is Thai spicy, so it's very spicy to us Americans. Hahaha... Their coconut palm juice is my favorite coconut drink ever, it's pretty strong so I dilute it with water making it last longer. They have a parking lot in front, so it hasn't been a struggle to find parking. Lastly, service is pretty fast. Last call is 7:45PM so get your orders in! read more

Disappointed with my last visit to Ras. My mother in law specifically told our server that I only eat fish because I wanted to check if their soup broths are made with a vegetarian base besides chicken/beef/pork. I usually get their noodle soup but have been way more conscious about what broths are made of so I decided to get the shrimp basil with rice. Off of the menu and on the wall, we saw an appetizer with crab wrapped in tofu so we decided to get it so I can have something to enjoy before the meal. As soon as I ate a piece, I realized there was a mystery meat in there. When we were finally able to flag down our server, we asked if there was meat besides the crab and she confirmed there was pork. With the aforementioned comment about me being pescatarian and having a decent conversation about it, I think she should've at least told me there was pork in the appetizer especially since it's a shared item and it's not listed in the description. I honestly felt sick to my stomach all day because pork is a huge no for me. With very little options for me at this point, this place won't be at the top of my list any longer. I will add that my MIL is Thai and says this place is authentic so I do recommend it for people who don't like watered down Thai food. read more

You guys are crazy if you guys don't like ACTUAL HOMEMADE THAI FOOD. The food is so bomb!! I highly recommend getting the (medium spicy) boat noodles, basil crispy pork over rice (with crispy fried egg), and Thai sausage. That's usually my go to. But whenever I take my hungover friends, we would get (mild spicy) Tom Yum, Pad Thai (mild spicy), and papaya salad. It's so good and it hits the spot. The service is nice. Came here for lunch on Sunday afternoon. It's not a huge location but it had enough seating and AC on a hot day. We ordered a variety of dishes, I had the drunken noodles. I asked for medium spice, which was pretty spicy for me. Glad I didn't get the very spicy! The pad Thai was a bit sweet for my taste but good. The crispy pork came with more veggies than pork, but the pork was tasty. My friend tried the iced coffee, which was a bit too sweet. I had the Thai tea which was good. I'm not sure why this restaurant is so popular. Authentic? Ok, sure. However, is not good! Perhaps it's popular bc this place specializes in Thai style noodle soup dishes (like Thai version of PHO) in the San Fernando Valley area that is not common at most regular Thai restaurants - unless you travel to Thai town in Hollywood. That being said, I think this restaurant is horrible! Thai noodle soups break down (broth, toppings, noodles) : -Broth: waaay to much MSG and too sweet (use of sugar) ;absent of a real recipe. -Toppings (proteins - various meats): tough as h $ll to chew! Try it. Your mouth will get tired. I don't think they tenderize the meats in any way. - Noodles: rice noodles ok, anything "egg noodle" NOT al dente and overcooked; and All other dishes (stir frys, fried rice, etc) has a weird sweet undertone...did I mention ton of MSG! This restaurant seems to do well and has a stable following to keep it in business. However for those that grew up eating quality Thai "pho", Had it in Thailand before, or has a picky palate - you will not like it here. 90 percent of the folks that eat here are Thai it seems...perhaps for nostalgic reasons? I ordered the tom yum soup and drunken noodles to go. Service was quick. Both orders were medium spicy but a bit too spicy for me. Maybe that's Thai spicy or maybe I'm weak with spicy. One of my go to for a quick Thai craving because their portion is just right and their service is quick. My favorite is their Tom Yum Noodle soup and Thai Boat Noodle Soup basically any noodle soup is good. Oh did I tell you it's spicy and drooling worthy? Stopped by here in between appointments at Kaiser. Just a quick walk down the street on a Friday afternoon. Most of the tables were filled (as it was lunchtime) so I got my food to go. I love Thai fried rice and this did not disappoint! The service was fast, even though it was clear they were busy. As with most family run businesses, an older lady was running the register. She was very busy but polite. I only waited a few moments before the only waitress came to take my order. I wish I had time to try their noodles (since that seems to be their specialty)! I would definitely come back. The fried rice was very authentic, the subtle flavors were divine and there was plenty of chicken and veggies. Small tucked away thai restaurant with great staff and plaza parking in front. There's usually a few diners here but the servers quick to get you seated and get the food out. Their noodle soups are all good (tried the boat, doo dee, and duck), and the larger size was perfect for one hungry person. The doo dee and duck were my favorites, suuperr flavorful. For the boat, the fish balls were kind of meh. Highly recommend flat wide noodle whatever you get! For rice dishes, grilled pork was really dry. We also tried duck and basil crispy pork based on recommendations, but the crispy pork was ALSO really dry and brittle - felt like I chipped a tooth eating it. Duck was definitely better by a lot - probably the best out of the three. Not the biggest fan of their rice dishes, and I would've preferred a few more greens to balance out the rice and meat. As an omnivore, 2 cucumber slices with a full plate of rice and meat is... Surprisingly thai iced tea was also one of my favorite things we ordered and it's really cheap for the size. Pretty good Thai spot not too far from my house. Read some great reviews so decided to order dinner from here. We weren't super hungry but saw that they closed at 8pm, so we ordered our food around 6:30. My husband got the Ton Yum Noodles which normally comes with pork, but added shrimp. I got the Doo Dee Noodles, more because of its name and it was listed as a popular item. Food was ready by the time I got there - overall friendly service. My soup was pretty tasty - I'd probably prefer less meat/pork - there was bbq pork, pork bones and ground pork and dried shrimp. I will try the Duck Noodle soup next time. But overall the food was good and it seemed pretty legit. Would definitely come back and try some of the other dry noodle dishes. read more

Earlier this week, my coworker introduced me to Pa Ord's tom yum and boat noodles down in Hollywood. I literally couldn't stop thinking about how good it was so I yelp searched a place closer to home that serves it. SO happy to have found a restaurant that's authentic and just as good here in the valley! The small soups are $5.50 and the large are $7.50, so cheap!! You have four different noodle options to choose from: pho, flat, thin, and egg. Just a warning that their spiciness levels are probably different from what you're used to. I can usually handle medium at other places but I'll stick to mild here, as it's already got me teary-eyed and sweating. I leave with my mouth and lips on fire, but it's worth it. read more

For fast, cheap, and tasty noodle soup this is where you should come. I've had their Tom Yum, duck noodle soup, chicken noodle all with pho noodles. I've also had their rice entrees: basil with pork and crispy pork with Chinese broccoli. All were flavorful. Something new on the menu are crepe cakes. It's made by an independent baker. I recently had their coconut flavor one and enjoyed it after my meal. Parking can be limited during the usual busy lunch/dinner rush as they share a small lot with other small businesses in a plaza.
