My friend and I try to go to different places at least 3-4 times a month. We're looking for those special go to places for a good meal that we both like. We discussed food that we both would find appealing and Razoo's was the pick. We started with fried pickle puckers. Those were good. The rest of our food was not good. Everything tasted like cornmeal, with more cornmeal and grease. The catfish had a thick coating of cornmeal and the fish was really mealy. What a disappointment. I love fried catfish. Not sure what this was because it didn't look nor taste like catfish. Strips of something fishy. The slaw was bland and boring. The kind that will for sure turn your tummy into a hot mess pretty quickly. The hush puppies were burnt. Boo! The fries, well they too tasted like cornmeal. There was no distinction between the foods on either of our plates. It all tastes the same. We did have a good waiter. He made frequent stops to our table for tea refills. My friend and I didn't feel the need to complain. Neither one of us was taking home food for later. We just won't eat here again. This will not be our forever restaurant pretty sure this is our last visit to Razoo's. I'm sure I'll get that generic feedback from the public relation officer that will read " sorry we did not meet your expectations. I am a frequent visitor to Razzoo's but our waiter tonight lead me to writing this review. Josh was great! Josh was attentive, sociable, and fast even with his other 5 tables. He made sure we were well taken care of. Food was great as usual and came out in a timely manner. You can tell this location works as a true team. Great experience! We had a party of 16 on a Friday night and were seated In around 50 mins ( not bad). We were seated in a big open area and were even allowed to use the table next to us for the birthday cake and gifts. The food was really good from the fried pickles to my favorite...the boudin balls. My wife and I split the fried catfish platter and they even separated it the back for us ( most places I have been to don't). It was good and very clean tasting. We had a couple of drinks, the Long Island tea and my wife had the blueberry mojito and both although good, were both weak. The fish bowl that requires two people to order we couldn't even taste the alcohol in it. This is the reason for the four stars not 5 stars. Came here this evening with my family to celebrate my brother's birthday and we had a fantastic time. We started out by ordering the fried pickles and by the way, Razzoo's has some of my favorite fried pickles ever!! Their dipping ranch is also SO YUMMY!!! Next, we ordered one dozen of raw oysters and one dozen of chargrilled oysters. Those were also great. The chargrilled were very flavorful. I absolutely LOVE the butter on the oysters!! They came with bread as well and let me tell you, this was some of the BEST bread ever, it was just crispy enough and had warm butter on it! For the entree I ordered the chicken tchoupitoulas (I know, the word is a mouthful!). I thought that was great as well. And FINALLYYYY we of course had to order dessert And this was my favorite part. We got the bread pudding and I was blown away. If you come to Razzoos, you have got to try the bread pudding! Finally, the service was wonderful. Our server was new and in training and he did an impeccable job. I love how attentive he was and I appreciate him taking care of our family this evening! Definitely will be back. After our party of 3 adults, a teenager and 2 little kids(between 6 and 9 years old) ordered, and my 9 year olds food was delivered, I instantly KNEW that he wasn't going to touch the blackened Cajun pasta. When we've oxme in the past, there are no veggies, just chicken, pasta, and the spicy cream sauce, but although the meal looked so good, I KNEW he wouldn't touch the veggie dish. I let the server know and she immediately said..."oh my gosh, yes we changed the recipe. Ill fix it im so sorry." I told her it was no big deal and just to bring him some chicken tenders and she said she'd be right back. The next thing I know the kitchen manager is at the table apologizing. I told them again no biggie, he is just picky and won't touch a veggie. He to he he already had another coming out the 'old way' and not to worry. HOW SWEET IS THAT? 7 min later out comes a creamy cajun old version of the recipe that my kid instantly recognized & mowed down in 15minutes. First before I get started. Razzoo's Support the Tripp's! They do offer a military discount. Now let me also say this..all Razzoo's are NOT created equal. This is the best Razzoo's in my opinion. It was a lot of drink for sure! And it came with a toy gator lol So once we enjoyed the drink we absolutely enjoyed the food. We ordered the rat toes for an appetizer which were freshly cooked. They are fried jalapeños with stuffed crab and shrimp. I almost cried from how good they were. Now they were spicy so if you're a spice lover then this is for you. So then My husband had the Stuffed fish with red beans and rice. He is a talker, he talks too much actually bit at this time he was silent. So silent that I had to taste! The flavor was outrageous. He wanted a second helping but knew that would be kind of doggish lol. I ordered the stuffed shrimp. Now usually stuffed shrimp is fried but theirs is not. It's stuffed with crab and deliciousness. Food was great! I ordered the sampler and got a little bit of everything. I ordered the chargrilled oysters and that French bread babyyyyyyy was so good I asked for an extra order of it. My kids ordered the tenders and loved the spicy ranch ketchup it came with. My mom ordered some type of fish that was smoothed in gravy. She said she didn't care for it suggested it be served with a sauce instead. Service was terrible. I felt the server Amaya had an attitude as if she didn't want to be there. We pass by this place daily since it is close to our home but have never tried it until finally had the chance to try it out on my birthday. We went there for lunch on a weekday and was surprised at how it wasn't busy at all. There were people eating lunch but not crazy that your server couldn't keep up with every table. Appetizer: Cajun Cracklin' & Crispy Chips with Cheese dip Meal: Cajun Tricky Fish, Salad & Gumbeaux, Chippy Dipper Basket and Big Easy Cheeseburger I have to say, I definitely recommend the appetizer only if you feel not eating healthy that moment. Large serving of chicharron, and I mean LAAARGE! Most of them we had to break apart because it was so large and long that there's no way it would physically fit in one's mouth. Crispy chips with cajun salt is also great especially when you dip them both in cheese. Cajun Tricky Fish was blackened fish over dirty rice topped with crawfish etoufee. It was tasty, not too spicy, etoufee was the right amount with the rice. It was just a perfect size serving that will fill you right up. Gumbeaux was also tasty although that wasn't my order so I couldn't really make a more detailed review. I tasted it and from what I had, it was good. Both the Chippy Dipper Basket and the Big Easy Cheeseburger were both for the boys and are so so. How can you go wrong with chicken fingers and cheeseburger...unless you burn it! What inspired me to write this review was the service provided by Catherine (Katherine?). The bar and high tops were at capacity, as I'm sure it usually is on a Friday night, and she had her hands full. However, she was attentive, patient, and gave me some thoughtful recommendations. Went to the McKinney Razzoo's for dinner Saturday. Erin was our server and was so friendly. Dinner was great, my only complaint is I ate too much lol. We've come to this location several times now and have been loving it each time. My fave is the Etouffee but tonight we had the cajun wings, fresh, spicy, super crispy...definitely a great appetizer.
