After 5 months due to COVID they're finally back open! I've been waiting and waiting. Of course it's take out only. They have a "suggested" menu on the window but you can order however you like (just as usual). They will write down your order, prepare it in the back, and make it. Beware! I am writing this post to warn others. I've been coming here since they opened. Have always loved this place. I recently read in other reviews that they started charging a service charge of 6%. Today we had lunch there and I felt totally taken advantage of although it's my fault. I should've known better after what I read. We were finished eating and I asked for the check. The lady working said just meet me in front and I will ring you up. Okay, kind of weird. Just give someone their check if they ask for it. But whatever. So we walk up and my husband scans his card and she then flips around the iPad asking for a tip. I then say, don't you charge a 6% gratuity now? She says yes we do. I then tell her I think it's a little shady that they charge 6% service charge when it's not posted anywhere and they refuse to give me a check where it shows that and then ask for a 20% gratuity on top of that! Whatever you do, don't order takeout. Let me share with you my experience. Let me start off by saying, that I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and have always found it to be exceptionally good. It was always clean and the food was always delicious. However on this particular occasion, I needed to order takeout. I told the lady at thefront I want to take out and she said let me get you two big bowls. My thought was that they were being generous because I'm taking it out not sitting down with all you can eat. After getting my two meals packaged up I went to the front and then gentleman put them on a scale and said that will be $60. I was kind of dumbfounded. I can sit here and eat as much as I want for $16.99, however if I take it out, it's by the pound so each meal cost me $30 a piece. If you bring a kiddo that dosent like noodles, no problem. They have a mini buffet with french fries, onion rings, and egg rolls amongst other finger foods As for the bowls... delicious. Good for the price. Dknt out too much oil for them to cook in my opinion. It goes a long way. You will definitely be full leaving here. Alright here we go, so I've lived near here for about 2 years. Tried to eat here maybe 6 or 7 times total. First time, food was pretty good, decent price. The lady working the front was rude but hey, usually that's an indicator of fire food from a hole in the wall. Didn't see it online so was a little annoyed but they show on the door in person that they close at 3pm and reopen at 5pm. Cool, it is what it is. Third & Fourth attempts, arrived at 8:30 because online said they close at 9. They were closed. Said on a new paper that they close at 8 now. Interesting but ok. Then arrived at 7:30 few days later, 30 minutes before they were to close, and it was closed. Fifth time, got food, in and out quickly it was fine. Cost maybe like 16-17$ for the meal. Slightlyy more expensive than i remembered but still a very Solid B+ overall Final time, came at 7:15, sign said closed the door was locked but people inside still. I knock and he opens the door and tells me to-go only, that's fine. I make my plate and the grill man was surprisingly ruder than i'm used to. whatever i just want my food because i'm starving starving. Take it up to pay and my meal was $30. same meal i got last time. almost certain the last visit actually had more of everything. They had doubled the price per pound.. hahahahaha The restaurant is closed for TWO hours in the middle of the day and still is incapable of remaining open until listed close times. Every visit I was met with a new ruder employee, and the price DOUBLED within the span of a month, max. This establishment is actually laughable and I swore on all 4 of my grandparents' grave I would never in my life return. Went there previously and this place do not qualify for any reviews that is more than 1 star. When I was there, place is almost empty (2 tables included me). Very limited selection of meat, and even less on the vege(a lot of them are empty), and doesn't look fresh. While there are not a lot of choice, we still grabs whatever they had. Went to this pace quite often while in graduate school at The Claremont Graduate University. It was always a great place to get an inexpensive meal that soon became comfort food. I have incredible memories from the Mongolian BBQ as we called it, as when Dr. John Hick would bring his classes here to continue discussion after... well, class discussions and he would enjoy a Tsingtao with his meal. The only other ones I can think of in the area are Great Khan (or whatever it's called now) at Victoria Gardens and Big Wok Mongolian Grill on the corner of 4th and Milliken. This is better than the Great Khan and is basically the same as Big Wok. The Rc Mongolian BBQ Buffet is a good value for your meal money since it's all-you-can-eat. If you've done Mongolian buffets before, then you know what to expect: several types of thinly sliced frozen meats, a plethora of fresh vegetables, and a variety of sauces for your bowl. Pile it all up and they'll cook it up for you in a few minutes. I liked that they had an additional hot food section with sesame flat bread, rice, won tons, egg rolls, soup, and other dishes. Unfortunately, besides the rice and bread, nothing looked all that appetizing. To be fair, we did visit after the dinner rush, so perhaps a lot of it had been sitting for a while. Place looked really clean I'll give them that. The food was very dry. I added beef & other meats to the order and only received very few of the meats. Been here a couple of times now and I've always had a good experience. The staff is very attentive when it comes to picking up your empty plates and refill your drink. This place also offers shrimp which I have not seen at any of the other Mongolian BBQ places I've been to. It's a AYCE Mongolian BBQ/mini buffet. Parking - easy. Lots of parking spaces in this lot. Service - the staff are all very friendly. They are also super helpful if you've never been to to a place like this and need assistance. Mongolian BBQ - How it works? You grab a bowl, and go down the line of raw meats and throw them in the bowl. You get to a section of raw veggies, and you add the ones you want on top of the raw meat. Add noodles, or don't. You get to the sauce/garnish sections; they have little recipes on the wall to follow, or make up your own sauce. Throw all this into your bowl. Hand it to the person standing at the huge, round, cooking surface. And they stir fry your creation for you! Buffet - They also have a small buffet section with various goodies. Steamed rice, sweet and sour pork, tons of deep fried goodies, soup, stir fried veggies, yummy sugared doughnuts, etc. They even have a soft serve ice cream machine with cones.
