Awesome family owned and operated restaurant. I've been in this tiny plaza many times to visit the Filipino grocery store and the La Favorita market. Never noticed Real Thai until I was in the area googling for lunch.. These guys make the best rice, mixed with any meat choice. My group had one plate mixed with crab and another mixed with chicken. I was loving both, dreaming of more as I type this.. Got in on the garlic wings, decent flavor but didn't hit home as strongly as others.. We also had the Pad Thai plate with medium spice. It was definitely on the spicier side, but manageable. I was too full to try the mango sticky rice we got last, but I was told only good things about it.. Friendly service, very clean restaurant. Curry didn't taste the same as usual and hardly had any eggplant when I asked for extra. By the time they brought extra out it was cold. I've written plenty of reviews for Real Thai Food and they were always five stars. I felt the need to write an update to my review because my last visit left me confused and disappointed. I stopped by last weekend for my usual takeout order: Vegetable Pad See Ew, Papaya Salad, Glass Noodle Salad, Vegetable Pad Thai, and Spicy Eggplant Vegetables. Several of the dishes tasted off and one of them was rancid. The Papaya Salad had tamarind flavor in it, so it was fruity and too sweet. There should be no tamarind flavor in regular Thai papaya salad. The Glass Noodle Salad was rancid. It had a meat-gone-bad sour smell and tasted like it too. It was extremely off-putting. It also didn't have the right ingredients in it - no celery or cilantro and too many green onions. The Vegetable Pad Thai flavor was also off. There was a heavy fish sauce taste. The only two dishes that were normal tasting was the Spicy Eggplant Vegetables and Vegetable Pad See Ew. The rice that came with the Spicy Eggplant Vegetables were mushy and old. Not a single grain could be separated from the mush. I have no idea if they have a new chef or we were served old/bad ingredients, but I am so confused and disappointed. I'm going to give it one more go at a later time... but if this is how it's going to be, I'm going to stop coming here. I will make another updated review some other time to see if this place is redeemable. read more

Located at SE corner of Chapman and Gilbert street in an old run down shopping strip mall. I probably never would have found this place. However don't judge a book by its cover and this place simply rocks Placed a takeout order of the chili basil combo with tofu and chicken. The owner was really nice while taking my order and told me he would bring the food to my truck when it's ready. After a short waiting period he came out with the food nicely bagged and a complimentary Thai tea. So on my drive home, my truck started to observe all the different flavors and I couldn't wait to taste the food. At first I was a little bit skeptical when I opened the box but when I started eating I was overcome with all the different flavors. This spot is a family owned business, and the owners are so friendly. I have ordered their chicken pad-see-ew a few times now, and it never disappoints. It has been consistently delicious every time I have ordered it here. The spices, texture, and the way they cook the chicken is perfection. Their Thai tea is pretty good, especially for me since it's not too sweet as most places make their Thai tea. My partner ordered their chicken special fried rice, and according to them, it is good in comparison to others he has had from other restaurants, this one has actually been good.
