    Amazing hostess
    Jamie M.

Five stars aren't enough for the incredible hostess at Red 36! She greeted us warmly while we waited for our group to arrive, but her kindness didn't stop there. Mid-meal, she came over to play with my toddler so I could eat in peace. She went way beyond her job description and showed true heart and empathy for a mom trying to enjoy her meal. That level of hospitality is unforgettable--thank you for going above and beyond!

This is a cute place on the water. The experience was decent. My boyfriend and I differ on opinions of our food. The service was also decent, a bit slow with our food but nothing crazy. I had a local beer and lobster mac and cheese. The mac was decent but I think it could use a bit more seasoning and did taste overly fishy to me. My boyfriend had a glass of wine and started with oysters (not pictured) and the had seared scallops. He raved about the scallops saying it was delicious and he enjoyed his food. Overall, for me I didn't love my food but service was good and so was the ambiance!

The service is always friendly. The views, inside and out are perfect. The food is always delicious. Today they had a 5-spice tuna sandwich that was off the charts good!

Second time coming here and it was consistently good both times. We shared the lobster mac and cheese for an app which was amazing! Had the lobster grilled cheese which was very good. The froze was good as well.

Pretty good food! You are definitely paying for the atmosphere. We ordered the crab Rangoon fritters for an appetizer and the scallop risotto. My 10 month old is a very messy eater which I normally pick up myself at the end of meals when we eat out. 3x thru the course of my meal, various workers came over and swept under my son, my daughter and I and kept giving us dirty looks. It made me feel like I had to apologize profusely after having a check of $180. Wouldn't be back but due to service alone. The food and views were great.

I got a tiramisu expresso martini ($16) and a special blackened halibut ($38) and grilled faroe island salmon($36). The expresso martini was absolutely fantastic, that cold foam was light and airy with a good sweet taste. A very solid martini! The halibut risotto was probably one of the best fish meals I've had in the area. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. The risotto and sauce were super savory together and mixed really well with the fish! My only complaint would be some of the chairs there not providing much support. Besides that, the food here was amazing! I would easily come back here! Food(50%): 9.4 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 8.3/10

Delicious food, nice staff, and wonderful views! The happy hour is the best part! We had the hot lobster dog, and it was very fresh

Before heading to mystic i had looked up where people recommended going for a lobster roll, & red 36 was shared a bunch. I'm so pleased to report it did not disappoint. The weather was perfect, so sitting outside was a delight. The service, food, atmosphere, and vibe were amazing. My lobster roll was delicious and even my non-seafood eating Dad found something to eat! Would absolutely recommend!

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening around 5pm. We were able to get a table for 4 immediately. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Parking is easy in the big lot. Inside is nice and right on the water with great views. We ordered a crab tuna appetizer that was a special. The fish tasted good but it was kinda small and hard to split. The rice was supposed to be crispy but it wasn't very crispy. I then ordered the seared 5 spice ahi tuna sandwich which I enjoyed. But I felt like the bread overtook the sandwich and there wasn't enough flavor. The sandwich was $26. Prices felt a little high just because of the location on the water.Overall a nice meal though.

We had dinner here after arriving in Mystic for the night. We were looking for good seafood, a view of the river, and a good glass of wine. It delivered on all plus more! The lobster roll was delicious and very meaty. My husband got a cod sandwich and it was super flavorful. Our server was so nice and explained about the two bridges that move to allow ships to go up and down the river. FYI...there is parking in front of the restaurant and you don't have to pay $25 for the lot at the entrance.

I really love red 36! I've tried a bunch on the menu, including the crab dip, lobster roll, salmon, and the things pictured and it's all been really great. They have a nice happy hour too, in the bar area but you can make a reservation for a high top bar seat and that counts for happy hour. Service has always been pretty solid, even when they're busy

    Michelle C.

Friendly attentive service! Ate outside on upper deck with pretty views of the water and boats. The hot buttered lobster rolls we ordered were delivered super fast (actually arrived before the oyster app). The only downside was my first bite of my lobster roll had shell in it. And my second. Kind of ruined the experience for me especially at the expensive price we paid ($41).

Lots of happy diners at the patio bar.
    Valerie W.

This was (for me anyway) a hidden gem! But based on how busy they were it wasn't hidden from the rest of Mystic. It seems everyone knew about this place to dine! It's right on the water and surrounded by boats. Great ambience, attentive staff, and delicious food! I ordered a Perro Salado based on the recommendation of the sweet ladies sitting next to me. It has tequila, aperol, grapefruit and Prosecco and it was delicious. And it seemed like the perfect place to order my first CT lobster roll. It did not disappoint. Sweet, savory and generous chunks of lobster warm with drawn butter on a roll and served with crispy fries. The fries were a bit nubby (would've liked longer fries....these seemed like scraps) but overall I enjoyed it and can't wait to return.

I don’t believe so because in order to get to the deck, you need to walk through the restaurant. But I’m not 100% certain

Would reservations be needed for a weekday lunch?

They don't take reservations but there's tons of seating.

Is it kid friendly and do they have a children's menu?

Yes they do, but upon request

    Is it fancy or casual?

    It's causal.

What is the name of the marina that the Dock side of restaurant sits in?

Seaport Marine ... restaurant is between train bridge and mystic river bridge. Parking for restaurant is in boatyard. Docking available in harbor ... restaurant feels like it's suspended over water!

I am absolutely obsessed with everything here. I made reservations for 5:45 pm on a Monday night…read more We actually came a little before 5:15 pm, because I was absolutely starving, and they were so kind/accommodating. They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

I've been here multiple times for dinner and brunch and definitely had a good time…read more The deviled eggs are amazing! They also have a pavlova dessert that I highly recommend. The staff members are always welcoming and the aura of the visitors -since we became a nation seem ever-present. Bravo DPI... See you soon. On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. Parking was a bit of a challenge but by far worth the hunt. If you are looking for a very friendly restaurant with a historical beginning and great food... Look no further. DPI is a definite re-visit for us.
