Ordered gyoza and crab Rangoon's for appetizers. Shared the roasted pork belly and general Tso's chicken. The pork belly was good but we felt it needed more of a sauce then what was served with it. It tasted like a hosin sauce and there were only a few drops of sauce on the edge of the plate. Genera tso's, potstickers and crab Rangoon were so good. The sauce for the potstickers was a bit sweeter than a normal gyoza sauce, like it had plum or something in it. We also had a glass of sake and beer. Nope, not coming back. We were hoping we found a new favorite but the service was beyond slow, it was not even that busy, so they really had no excuse. Red 8 located in the Wynn Hotel and Casino has the biggest bowl of soup I have found. I had the pork and shrimp soup with egg noodles. You have a choice of one of five different noodles. A massive bowl which was my fulfilling dinner entree. Wifey had Mongolian beef with a side of brown rice. She shared with me. It had a nice kick to it with great taste. The quality of the food, or at least certain dishes, at Red 8 is trending down. As of a year ago, they had some of the best Orange Chicken around, but the recipe was changed some time in 2024 and now it is pitiful. More like Sesame Chicken, and not very good at that. Also, what happened to the Salted Fish and Diced Chicken Fried Rice? It used to be spot on, but now the chunks of fish are too large and it causes the entire dish to taste bloated and bland. Some of the food we had here was four stars, maybe even five, other food, only two to three, so the over all rating depends on what you order. Service is fast efficient and friendly. We had their Soft Shell Crab entree (Rock Salt & Jalapeño Pepper) and one of their signature dishes, a duck in noodles. The soft shell crab was a five star dish, a large amount of the crab, all crispy and fresh tasting, and well presented. However, the duck, as is the case with many U.S. Asian restaurants, was sub par, tasting frozen and freezer-burn-esque. I questioned the waiter on how good their duck was before ordering it, and he insisted that it was great, but it was not. Actually, everything in the duck speciality dish OTHER THAN the small amount (wasn't even that much) of duck itself, was great. They have a separate more private area for larger groups who are willing to drop enough money to qualify for that seating. Very solid Chinese restaurant at the Wynn. The Kung Pao chicken is the best I have ever had. The dim sum isn't quite worth it but it does the trick if that's what you are craving. The noodles are quite good. Singapore curry noodles and drunken noodles are the best of the bunch. The noodle soups were good from what I heard but I didn't eat it myself. Keep in mind some of the dishes are pretty spicy. Open floorplan and looks nice Service is great and they are attentive. Keep in mind you are at the Wynn so the price is higher and rice is separate. Disappointed I was expecting this to be good but it was just so so. My family and I had dinner here while in Vegas last week. I ordered the soup dumplings which were the best item of the night but only 3 to an order. I also had the hot and sour soup which was not good at all. I can get better at my local corner Chinese joint. My husband and nephew ordered the Kung POW chicken and they both agreed wasn't anything special. Service needs work as well. Omg where do I even begin? I love this restaurant the most out of all of the Asian options at the Wynn. I've dined at Wing Lei and Wazuzu and Red 8 is still my favorite. So much that I have been to this three times on two separate trips to Vegas. Wazuzu is more greasy and less flavorful than Red 8. Red 8 is fantastic on so many levels: Their dim sum game is good. My mother who is 70 stood in the cramped hallway for almost 20 minutes before they cleared a table for us. She is now sick in bed with covid-19. The hostess used our reservation to fill a spot on her list with no regard for the fact we are human beings. I could've given 5 stars but the chicken feet on the dimsum menu was tough. The flavor was there but tough. Ordered siu mai, shrimp dumplings, from the dimsum menu.... all good. I recommend The beef tendon egg noodle soup - so tasty and flavorful - real authentic chinese beef noodle soup taste. The Kungpao shrimp was good as well. Welcome to Vegas where food is crazy expensive, so if you are looking for a great dim sum deal go elsewhere. With that disclaimer out of the way, the food here was fantastic. Our party of six ate family style with a variety of dumplings, combo fried rice, BBQ pork and much more - and everything was excellent. I also went to Mott 32 while on this trip and I'd definitely say Red 8 wasn't as good, but it was also half the price so that definitely counts for something. In addition, nobody was disappointed with the food quality or quantity. If you like Din Tai Fung, then you should like this place - just expect the same caliber food for the Vegas surcharge and convenient location (if you are a hotel guest). read more
