Such a gem on the strip. I've heard of this restaurant long ago, but there's not much hype about it. However it might just be the best dining experience I've ever had, ever! Surpassing all Michelin starred restaurants I've dined and other restaurants across the globe. Our server JJ was great and helpful, gave us a lot of suggestions and informed us on the dish and cooking. Whole service team was professional and welcoming. Restaurant isn't very big and all seatings are comfortably spaced and well decorated. Ambiance is great for sure! Beef Chow Fun was such a delicacy, although a popular and familiar recipe, this restaurant nailed it and my wife basically ate it all and just couldn't get enough. Really shows the skill of their chef. I couldn't taste the soy sauce so it should be the most traditional way and time consuming skillful method used. Every dish was great, beef broth was delicious, very generous in portion, fresh ingredients. Pea sprout is so tender and fresh, not a single bite is hard which is very hard to come by. You could just taste the love chef put into every dish, everything was made in house. Very sad we tried this restaurant just now, and they are closed until Friday so we couldn't try more dishes. This was our second time dining here. We came back because we really enjoyed several dishes on our first visit, but unfortunately this experience was more mixed. Three of the dishes we ordered were disappointing compared with what we remembered from last time. First, I have to mention our server, Ben, who was excellent. He was attentive, genuinely cared about our experience, and even welcomed us back with a glass of champagne. Ben did everything he could throughout the evening, and we really appreciated his service. I would give it only 2 stars but with the excellent service, I don't mind to give it another star to this review. The soft-shell crab was easily the highlight of the night. It was the first dish that arrived and was crispy, flavorful, and delicious. I would definitely order this again. Unfortunately, the next two dishes did not live up to our previous visit. The king crab leg egg rolls were very good the first time we came, but this time we could hardly find any crab meat in them. Ben kindly removed them from our bill. The BBQ char siu (叉烧) was just okay. It was edible, but nothing memorable, and we would not order it again. The biggest disappointment was the Maine lobster prepared Thai style. We ordered the same lobster dish during our previous visit and really enjoyed it because the lobster tasted fresh and the flavors worked well together. This time, however, the sauce tasted noticeably sour and the dish just wasn't nearly as good. There was also some confusion about the price. The menu listed the lobster at $128, but Ben explained that because the lobster available that evening was larger, the restaurant would have to charge more. We weren't thrilled about it, but agreed to go ahead. The final price was $158. Considering the higher price, it was especially disappointing that the dish wasn't as enjoyable as last time. Ben spoke with the manager and chef after we mentioned the sour taste. Their explanation was that they were using the same sauce and that perhaps the other foods we had eaten affected how it tasted. I didn't really agree with that explanation, especially since we are pretty serious foodies and had ordered many of the exact same dishes during our previous visit. I'll leave it at that and let others form their own opinion. There were still several good items. The Garden Lotus cocktail was light and refreshing. The xiao long bao with truffle was fine and well made, although the truffle didn't make it particularly special. The pea shoots/green vegetable dish was also good, although I wouldn't say it was quite as amazing as some of the online reviews suggest. Because Ben felt bad about the dishes we didn't enjoy, he treated us to a complimentary oolong tea cake for dessert. That was a wonderful surprise and honestly one of the best things we had all night. It was light, unique, and a very nice way to finish the meal. We still really like the restaurant's atmosphere. The dining room is beautiful, the tables are comfortable, and it feels elegant without being too formal. It was surprisingly quiet during our visit, with only a few tables occupied while we were there. Overall, there were some excellent moments, especially the soft-shell crab, dessert, and Ben's outstanding service, but the inconsistency between our first and second visits was disappointing. At this price point, especially with a $158 lobster, I would expect the food to be more consistent. Ben deserves a special thank-you because he handled everything professionally and did his best to take care of us. Had the best dinner here during our stay at the Cosmo in Vegas. The service def feels like fine dining as it feels personalized and detail oriented. I have to shout out the girl working the host stand as she got us a last minute reservation at 7:30 when we walked up when they first opened at 5pm. She also helped me get the peking duck reserved for me and also suggested her favorite soup the Szechuan fish broth. She even ended up helping to make the peking duck wraps! We made it known to our male waiter we were a bit sick and suggestions were made that would work for us, complimentary tea brought out and lots of hot water with lemon. We ordered the peking duck (which was luckily in stock as we didnt pre order it) and the Szechuan fish broth and baby bok choy suggested by waiter. The szchuan fish broth was mildly spicy had almost Tom yum taste, plenty of fish, cooked veggies, very nice for our tired bodies. Plenty leftover could have served 4+ i think. The peking duck was so good!! They show it to u before and then make it for u on a cart in wraps. It was very delicious! Crispy skin and juicy meat. It's not that much at all, enough for 2 people. I legit had such a great dinner tonight. Ben really made it a special night for our family. He heard it was my mother's birthday and went above and beyond to help move us into the big private room. At first, there was a lot of confusion and miscommunication because we had originally reserved that room, but were told a light fixture was broken. Ben took ownership of the situation and somehow got everything handled for us in the end. The funny thing is, I honestly thought he was the manager the entire night. It was not until the end that I found out he was actually our server. That says a lot about how much he cares about the guest experience. He was friendly, professional, fluent in both Chinese and English, and made everyone at the table feel comfortable. The food was good, exactly what you would expect from a nice, upscale Chinese restaurant. But the real highlight of the night was definitely Ben. He went above and beyond to cater to our wants and needs, and he truly made the dinner memorable. Ben should absolutely be promoted. I do not say that often, but he deserves it. People are sleeping on Red Plate. imo, it's one of the more "affordable" upscale sit-down restaurants in Vegas, and that's doubly impressive considering the experience / service. You get attentive service and a fine-dining experience, and can get out for $80-100pp post tax and tip (depending how you order). And food is authentic Chinese food, extremely well executed, reminds me of places I went to in Hong Kong. Plus was pretty easy to walk in and grab a table. We got: - wok fried scallop - nice light dish, filled with tender, meaty scallops and vegetables - wok fried steak - super tender steak, my partner liked this more than the iberico collar (which usually is his favorite) - iberico collar (with honey glaze) - solid, tender pork. perhaps because I've been spoiled by really good versions of this lately, wasn't a standout rendition to me, but still an easy fan favorite. - truffle egg with shrimp - this was a special, but tbh I don't think the truffle added much. They are only open Thursday through Sunday so you best make reservations. We were able to get in last minute because someone didn't confirm their visit and wait time expired. I just want to tell them thank you ! Everything was perfect. We needed help with the menu and Ben was the man for the job. He was EXCELLENT! He brought out a special tea to welcome us to the restaurant. He explained everything to us . I needed a sweet drink which they don't have but the bartender came through and maybe they can make it a new cocktail with my name. I have photos of everything so start drooling ! I don't eat rice often and I left none in the bowl. Wontons came with their special made sweet and sour sauce. We order a second serving of wontons to get the sauce. The Tofu was so amazing! Crispy crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Yes yes yes! The scallops are nuge and served with veggies ! The soft shell crabs were the best we have ever had and my husband is from New Orleans. I am from Alabama but I know seafood. I came to Red Plate with my friends the other night. It is located in the Cosmo near Beauty and Essex. Keep in mind this restaurant closes relatively early so make sure if you're scheduling something kind of late it might not be ideal, but check their operating hours. We were able to make our reservations online before hand. Since we had a work meeting prior in the day we didn't get here until fairly late but they were still able to accommodate us. Our waitress was amazing. She really took great care of us. She recommended a couple of dishes and also made us feel very special in our dining experience. We started off with a couple of the shrimp. We did one as a sashimi preparation, another one was a Thai style. We also got a couple of the dim sum options. We got The pork potstickers, lobster shumai, the black truffle Xiao lung bao, and also tried the caviar taro puff with quail egg. We were told that the caviar taro puff with quail egg is one of their signature dishes. All the dim sum dishes were amazing. Everything but the taro puff came in a set of three. For entrées, we got the prime beef filet mignon with king mushroom. I was a huge fan of the mushroom and also the sauce that the filet mignon came in., we also ordered the Peking duck which we had an option to have two preparations. We were able to get them in the crepe skin and also we have the option to get the duck meat in a fried rice or noodles. I also ordered an iced tea. I'm not sure what kind of tea or wise but it was amazing. It seemed like they actually had to brew the tea and then poured it over ice for me. I am shocked I never knew about Red Plate throughout the years of visiting Vegas. Recently learned of this establishment and wanted to try. I assumed it was new but they've been around since 2018! It's located on the 3rd floor of Cosmo and between Scarpetta and Beauty and Essex. The restaurant is visually stunning; embellished with elegant decor and furniture that exude warmth and charm. While the bar area is somewhat compact, sitting around 4-5 seats, I don't see it as the type of place where guests would gather solely at the bar. Instead, it strikes me as more of a family-style restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu! They serve elevated, classic Chinese dishes. I must admit, I'm a sucker for caviar so when I saw the Caviar Taro Puff on the menu, it was the first item I ordered and I suggest you try! Many of the main dishes offer tableside service. I believe the tableside service enhances the overall experience because it adds intimacy and ensures that all guests feel well taken care of. The staff are incredibly informative, friendly and entertaining! I've learned a lot of new things during dinner, from fascinating facts about the food to insights into the process and culture. I absolutely recommend trying the duck, but remember to place your order in advance-- I think it's 24 hours ahead. The lobster was fantastic, incredibly meaty! I also indulged in some spot prawns, but I requested for them to be served sashimi style because I simply LOVE spot prawn sashimi. They also offer the option wok fry the head for you in their XO sauce, and let me tell you, it was phenomenal! I wish I had ordered more of that. I have never had the chance to dine at Red plate due to their availability or never open the days I'm in town. Finally was able to go, here's my experience; Very friendly and attentive staff. Here was the first sign to leave was when they kept telling my bf to read the menu because some of the menu was in Chinese. HE IS VIETNAMESE!! not the same language. Anyways, forward to our entrées. The order: The duck (which my bf has ordered earlier in the day). Reminder: you have to pre-order. The SKIN was crispy 4/5. I'm sad that you get NO meat. They take the duck away and if you want it, you have to pay more. Like what?!? If you want an amazing ENTIRE DUCK, go to Komodo at the Fountainbleu. You get to eat the entire duck, and it's been one of the best ducks ever. Oh yeah, and you get to actually eat the meat!! Next plate was lamb chops: Ordered what was on the menu, then waiter came out saying they had an off menu style of lamb chops. Which we opted for, not bad. 3/5. Nothing special about these lamb chops, but also not bad. Good to order if you need your lamb fix. Also, this off the menu item happened to be twice the price as the listed one on the menu. Plate of fried rice: Their fried rice was nothing special in my opinion. For $100 for the plate, NOT worth it. It was literally a side bowl of plain/ unflavored rice with masago on top. Last plate, ordered the COD fish; It was a steamed fish in sauce. Tasty 3/5 for my liking. My bf is Asian and he thought it was 4/5. Not bad! This is where the service went bad, they failed to tell us the price of the fish was $150 per pound! They just came out and said it was 3 lbs. the fish was not worth the market price. (Order at your own risk). We each had 1 drink. Drink selection was very poor. Not a lot of drinks were available. The ambience was quiet, 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. Should have taken it as a sign to leave! We left feeling cheated of not knowing the pricing before hand, but we paid because we ordered and it's "fine dining". Just disappointed that we've had been wanting to try this place just to be disappointed, robbed and lied to. And lastly, after dinner I was SICK which ruined the rest of my 4th of July! Indulgent Chinese food, by Yip Cheung the previous Chef of the high-roller "Talon Club" at Cosmo. The name comes from Qing dynasty royalty which only ate food on red plates. We had their classic Cantonese dishes in a much more humble way and it definitely made us want to try eating the fancier versions. When we arrived at Vegas a friend of my wife invited us to their room to eat some great lunch they were having, I was a bit disappointed to find chinese takeout food but we were hungry and started eating it. I immediately noticed the chow fun was very good, not at the same level as Pearl River Deli in LA Chinatown but still very well cooked and delicious. The gai lan was also perfectly timed with a great amount of crunch and a fresh vibrant green color. After seeing black truffle shavings on the XLB I knew this wasn't ordinary takeout and asked where it was from. One of their friends cooks at Red Plate and got us some of their food during a time when they were normally closed, the second day they got the same hookup and this time we dove into it happily knowing the quality would be good. read more

I had the privilege of dining there with a group of friends on a busy Saturday night and the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I loved that the servers explained to everybody what they were serving because half the table was not Chinese. It made the experience inclusive, welcoming and far more enjoyable! The only odd thing about dining here is that they don't have their own restroom in the restaurant. Patrons have to use the public one in the hallway outside of the establishment. We arrived around 8 pm on a busy Friday night and thought we were very lucky to snag a table for two when every other restaurant on the Cosmo 3rd floor had a 1-2 hour wait. The host was very friendly and welcoming and told us we were in luck as they just had 2 cancellations and the restaurant typically books out 3 months in advance. However when they escorted us inside we immediately saw it was only 40% occupied. Our waiter was also very friendly but showing presumptive old school gender and cultural assumptions, suggesting that men typically don't order the HK-Tini because it's pink and assuming I'd want a fork because I'm not Asian. The menu and offerings also didn't cater to masses but very authentic Chinese. Our meal was delicious however for $100+ per person, you're better off going to literally any of the other restaurants in the Cosmo or Genting Palace in Resorts World if you have your heart set on authentic Chinese food. read more

We had dinner reservations here on a Thursday night at 7:30pm. It was the first night that the restaurant was open that week. We had preordered the peking duck. Ambiance is very nice. Our server was clip and efficient. He didn't really want to explain the menu. He said we had ordered the duck and that was plenty. He also stated that at 7:30pm on the first night they were open all week that they were out of the pork with honey glaze. We did watch them serve it later to another group. Not sure what was going on there. He did allow us to order the rice noodles without shrimp but it also didn't have any pork either...it was just noodles and some veggies. Good flavor, though. The peking duck was very good but the two young ladies who served it were extremely deadpan and disinterested. The bill was a little different. I had already checked my credit card statement and the peking duck had been charged in full on my card and paid for. Imagine my surprise when it was on my dining bill, too? When questioned, they appeared very surprised that it had been charged in full on my card and immediately sent a credit notice/refund to my card. Then I got to pay for it again. Food - 5 stars and what one would expect at a Michelin 3 star but is somehow flying below the radar and I don't know the politics enough to explain why that is. But the food is simply amazing. Started w the sweet corn soup w foie gras and that alone would have satisfied me if no other dishes came out. The smell and texture and flavor. Could build a restaurant empire around that soup. Service - 5 stars. Vicky is a professional and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and beyond. High IQ and EQ and made the dining experience next level. The other staff are excellent and very attentive but not intrusive at all. They knew when to leave us alone in our conversations but still execute timely presentation of next course and also clear up used plates. Flawless. Ambience - 5 stars. Elegant, modern, Asian but not cheesy and most importantly very comfortable and cozy. Can't recommend Red Plate enough. Sorry Wynn and Bellagio but the best Chinese restaurant in Vegas is at Cosmopolitan. No debate. read more

Red plate is the truly the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been in the states. They have the most authentic Cantonese dishes and that is rare to find in the states. Besides the amazing food, Vicky, the restaurant manager always surprise me and my husband with their secret menu. 100 pts customer service attitude. Last time she even has prepared a bday cake for my friend. If you have any chance to visit the red plate I would highly suggest you to go look for Vicky to book your reservation and design a menu for your dinner. Highly recommend! read more

So excited they are back open! We were able to try them out last night and it was amazing! Our server was Chris and he was helpful, informative, and very attentive. The food was perfect. The flavors blended together, every bite was perfectly balanced. We started with the Pork potstickers - amazing. Had the chicken lettuce cups and they were light and flavorful. I don't eat seafood but the 2 people I was with LOVED the Spotted Pawns, and the soft shell crab dish, along with the Abalone in cold sake. The truffle dumplings were absolutely fantastic, the Prime beef was melt in your mouth, and the truffle fried rice might have been the best rice dish I've ever had. We had two different desert, I liked the Yuzu Mango Mousse and Black Sesame Cake. Flavors were really well done. And as the check came so did a small chocolate plate which was nice. I had the Moon Festival cocktail and it is now one of my favorite cocktails ever. So refreshing and flavorful. My husband hates "sweet" drinks and even liked it. Also tried the Hundred year of thoughts and I don't like whisky but I really enjoyed that drink too. Overall 10/10. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, easy to find (floor 3 of the Cosmo), staff was great, and food was amazing. read more

I got so sick eating here!! I've eaten at almost every restaurant in this casino multiple times, it's my favorite hotel on the strip and I stay here often. We wanted to try this place before I left this time, didn't eat anything all day waiting for this and as soon as I ate I started feeling it. ALL NIGHT I TERRIBLY SICK!! When our appetizers came out I told the waiter, "remember I said no onions" he told me to pick them out and never offered another option! Another 3 piece appetizer came out and one piece fell on the floor, they didn't offer to replace it rather it was our fault so be it The sea bass was very good, but honestly think that's what made me terribly sick. The won ton soup had no flavor and the noodle were lumped in the bowl and didn't taste good at all!! How do you mess up a noodle?? It was beautiful in there! I would give them the benefit of a doubt, but it seems like this place thrives on not mentioning prices to customers when they order and they absolutely need to. I was also victim to ordering a cod that I was told was 3 LBS. But I wasn't told it was 150$ per pound . No cod is 150$ per pound, and if it was, it should have been disclosed before the bill came out. Now let's get to the duck. You pay for the whole duck . They only carve you the skin of the duck. And when you ask for the meat, they tell you it's an extra charge for that. When you already paid over 125$ for the whole duck. I am vietnamese. I've eaten whole Peking duck my whole life . We get whole ducks with pounds of meat in Little Saigon for 30$ . So to be served skin only and charged more if I want the meat is pretty absurd. If you want an amazing duck, go to Komodo . My family had a delicious meal here, so we visited here from LA again this time. We ordered 3 peckings duck that we always ordered ($128.88)and this menu was served with fried rice. And ordered additional dim sums and noodles. The taste was a little salty, unlike before, and after we finished the peckings duck, the fried rice served. After we finished the meals I checked the bill and found out that 2 of $99 was added. but the restaurant workers didn't even say sorry. Menu descriptions at www.cosmopolitan lasvegas.com is Pecking duck cost &128.88 includes fried rice. By the way, $99 was removed from the bill and they added the fried rice $28.88 on the bill. Don't let the pictures fool you. -5 stars if possible. You basically pay for the service. Greasy food and you don't get the whole duck, only the skin part of the breast. Oh! And a few wraps that they prepare for you and it consists of only the skin. Complained about the duck and all we get for the meat is very little meat cooked into low mein that's "not on the menu", which cost $18 more for something we should've got with our $118 preorder duck. The beef truffle fried rice had a few shavings of truffle and a few pieces of beef and was greasy and salty. Did I mention that the fried rice was about $50? Stay away. $230 this, and whole duck just for show to take a picture. I wish it allowed me not to select a single star. read more
