Second time to Vegas, first time staying at Wynn Resort because of Ali Wong show and my room was comp by my cousin. My parents only like Chinese food, Red 8 is our first choice. While waiting for our room in tower suite, we had a late lunch in Red 8. I wasn't surprise the restaurant was busy during this long weekend. My parents were acting crazy when they see the variety of dim sum in the menu but as well they are not too happy with the price. $10 for a Shrimp dumplings...... (they don't understand behind that $10, there are a lot of people working hard for that ) it took them few discussions to place the order. 4/5 FOOD -Good that the shrimp dumplings and the shanghais dumplings did not make them disappointed. 4/5 Ambience- The restaurant is pretty open and sometimes can smell the smoke from the casino. Not as quiet as the restaurant has no window, very open to the walkway, especially no carpet on the restaurant floor. After all these positive comments, where all those stars deducted from ???? 1/5 -SERVICE........ I always think Las Vegas should have the best service in the States or in the world. I am a very reasonable person, I will never blame a new property or a new restaurant but Wynn and Red 8 has been in the city for quite a decade, how can you let your employee treat your guest in an impolite way. Um..... to be reasonable, politeness is arguable, I think she is not polite but she may not think this way but bad attitude can be universal. The waitress with a ponytail kept kicking my mom's chair when she passed by, spill sauce on my back when she pick up dishes from the table next to us. She did realize but when I looked at her and trying to flag her over for additional order, she walked aways from us. I heard she was speaking to other staff in Chinese about our order, something like we are ordering too little. City of Sin is about money money and money but please realize you need to provide good product and god service to get good tip !! Anyway, no reason to come back. Price and value. I really don't mind to pay for $40 per person for lunch in a 5 star hotel in Vegas ..but rude service (waitress to be EXACT) dropped the value. I seldom spent time on social media but this is the worst experience I ever had in Vegas. I should have read some review before I stepped in this 3.5 star restaurant. We came here with my younger kids and we werent exactly sure of the menu as we were unfamiliar with some words. Our waitress already had that judgmental vibe from the start. Didn't care to explain when we asked her. Me: "What is Har Gow?" Waitress (name starts with "D") : "Its Dumpling" --with duh! attitude and facial expression...uhh yeah we see that, its what it says in the menu. Hoping she would elaborate more but nope.  Me: So what's difference between Har Gow and Shanghainese dumpling ? Waitress (name starts with "D") : "Both steamed" ---- thank you..... The service was absolutely terrible and we felt really rushed to order, eat and pay our checks. Our waitress abruptly took plates away without really asking. Is Vegas really lack of nice and knowledgeable people to work in hotel industry ??? This waitress should be out of her job the first day she work in any hotel in San Fransisco. Her attitude and the way she answered each questions were pointless. Feel bad with the rest of the team in this restaurant, Dim Sum was not bad, seems better than some good Chinese restaurant in SF, one black sheep can got a team down. Management should do something. I think its service had gone down..i would say this restaurant has one of the worst customer services on the strip....took for a long time to get someone to get our orders...asked for sauce-not delivered....asked for napkins- not delivered (had to walk to find someone to get napkin).. mess up with the check..took another 10 minutes to get corrected..pretty much there is NO service here..had to walk to someone to get stuffs...EVEN if i asked for something..half of stuffs are not delivered..pretty much being ignored...I had to waved her down and ask for refills, I had to waved her down and ask for white rice, I had to waved her down and ask for a fork for my 5 year old nephew, I had to ask for more napkins, I had to ask them to clear some plates off the table. You get my drift. They weren't busy, only 5 or 6 tables including us. Waitress basically took our food order, collect payment and that's it. Didn't bother to check up on us, she actually walked by our table several times and didn't even smile or stopped and asked us if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Typical, they think they came just come here and make bank on us.. Maybe it's the lack of training or they just don't care. Many many Other places to eat. Need to un bookmarked them. Its a July 4 weekend, my relatives in town, otherwise I will never willing to go to the strip and this is really unfortunate to have this experience in Red 8. I was so stupid not to read the review before I brought my relatives here. I was here few years ago for convention, my dining experience wasn't the same. Now 5 stars pricing, 3 stars food quality and no star service. First let's talk about the hostess at the entrance, rude and full of attitude. Yes we are not regular guest, we didn't tip you for table, is that why you don't care? I witnessed a guest give her money for a table, at that moment I was thinking---should I do the same thing.... hell NO. Ok finally seated, I waved for service, an employee passed by two times without acknowledging us. After 20 mins, a server finally stopped by and she was the one who ignored us for two times, yeah, Hi, good afternoon. Ordered some dim sum, 2 entrees out of 4 entrees were wrong.........I understood its a busy weekend, but I did not have a discount for bad service. Even worst, when we told her the entree came out wrong, she stopped us from talking and pulled out her paper note pad, flipping from the back to the front, then told us she didn't do anything wrong.............. wow. I have been coming here on and off for a few months. The service at this place gets worse every time we come. We had to wait over 5 minutes to be seated several servers and the manager just walked by without saying anything. I then asked the manager should we seat ourselves she said no and then a couple mins later someone came to seat us. Once seated the same young female server came greet us our quickly but then had to wait for her to come either for drinks or order would took over another 20 mins. The robotic reaction from her is seen. I think she is famous on some recent comment. The appetizer we ordered came out quick, but the rest of our food took over 25 minutes to come out.... things seems missed out every time. yes this is a high volume restaurant but staff for it... no it should be train good staff for it. The female server who served us only had two tables including us in a Sunday afternoon, she was running around like a crazy dog already. We felt so annoying when she ran over and kicked our chairs. Only Chinese restaurant opened for lunch and my parents in law like only Chinese food. Although bad experience last time, still need to come. Being a guest, we just do not need to gamble for good service. I was feared to see that server's face and I was so good luck that we had HER again. I really don't know what to describe this lady. Bad service ? Non existent service ? Bad personality ? Our orders were all messed up. Food came out before drinks, dim sum orders were wrong. This is a small restaurant located in the Wynn, so be prepared for long wait times during peak hours. Luckily, we arrived right when it opened and were seated immediately. The restaurant has a modern Chinese vibe and offers a good variety of Cantonese dishes. The waiters were attentive, and while the prices are on the higher side, that's expected for a restaurant in a luxury hotel. I really enjoyed the chef's special hot and sour noodles--they had the perfect amount of heat, which was perfect for someone like me who loves spicy food. The XLBs and spicy wontons were decent, though nothing particularly special. The BBQ platter was a highlight for me--it allowed me to try all the BBQ meats without having to over-order. The Hainan chicken was nice and tender, and the beef chow fun was very satisfying, with that distinct wok hei flavor. I stayed at the wynn for my honey moon and my wife was craving for Chinese food. I had many great Chinese food all over the world, however this is the BEST Chinese food I ever had in my life. I don't remember the name of our dishes, but we had a dish that had tofu and seabass with black bean sauce which was the best! The atmosphere was very modern and clean as well. Our waiter was very attentive and took a picture for us. Also, manager (Scott) came to our table and explain all the food and wine that we were having. He made our dinner even more enjoyable. Thank you very much for all of the red 8 staffs who gave an unforgettable experience. The price was little bit expensive but it is definitely worth it! Long wait --- expected -- its holidays-- hostess with bad attitude Service need a major work When we finally got seated and a young waitress ordered for us immediately, not knowing when we'd see her again. Food came out fast and piping hot thankfully, which was the only saving grace. Service was a disappointment. It was an entertaining part guessing what will be happened next. Two times someone approached our table with wrong food items, no one apologise to us, of course the waitress seems never exist after ordering. Every dish that I had was enjoyable and slightly different from the mainstream versions. The chicken lettuce cups (basic I know) were light and flavorful. The spicy pork with bell peppers was decent; everything I expected and nothing that I didn't. But the deep fried chicken with chili sauce absolutely made the meal for me. The sour/spicy flavor balanced well with the light/crispy crust of the chicken. Highly recommend this dish. Overall the meal was good. Red 8 has a nice atmosphere and the restaurant itself it's beautifully decorated. The service was also good. However, I was upset with the food during my experience. I ordered the crab Rangoon which had a strong fishy smell and taste to it. The texture of the filling did not seem authentic. I also got the shrimp and wonton noodle soup, and that also had an overwhelmingly fishy smell and taste. I only took one bite and asked for the check because I was scared to get food poisoning! read more
