Ordered takeout from Red Bowl tonight through Door Dash. Per the receipt Naydelin prepared my to-go order. When it arrived there was not any lettuce for the lettuce wraps I ordered (not too big of a problem if I had lettuce on hand but I do not). I called the store and was placed on hold. When they returned she told me they were too busy to help me and to contact Door Dash for a refund, although it was not Door Dashes fault. I said well you have lost a customer. I was looking for a quick lunch today and was craving sushi, hence Red Bowl was where I decided to stop. I am impressed by the lunch sushi meal, which comes with two rolls and miso soup or salad for $12. The salmon roll was a bit small, but both it and the sweet potato roll tasted great. I thought it was a bit strange to play country music in an Asian fusion restaurant, so maybe the ambiance isn't why you'd go here, but it's a reasonably priced meal that tastes good. read more

Found this place with only 2 1/2 stars and still decided to give it a chance. Came in and were seated right away. Took a bit for our server to come out, but that could have been because we had to take the kids to the bathroom. When he came out he was very friendly. We ordered the fried pot stickers to start. When they came out they looked great and tasted just as good. They were crispy but not burned and the inside was tender and full of flavor. We also ordered chicken Lo Mein, which was a bit on the bland side. Pineapple chicken fried rice which I thought was great. The rice was cooked perfectly, the chicken was tender and it was all full of flavor. The beef with broccoli was also very good. The beef tender and flavorful while the broccoli was not too hard and not limp. My favorite had to be the walnut shrimp. So much flavor and just so very good. This place is not the best but definitely not terrible. If you have an urge for Chinese and are not sure, I would give this place a shot. read more

Normally I have no problems with Red Bowl. Tonight was horrible. I ordered online as I always do, and waited 20 minutes past the time it was supposed to be ready. While I sat, and sat, I watched one of the guys working the front of house do nothing but disrupt everyone else, interfering in the prep work, not delivering food, not taking orders. Generally just walking back and forth like a hyper cat not accomplishing a thing. And he evidently prepped my food, which he has no business doing, because the bottom of the bag and box is soaked in sauce, and there is nothing but rice in the box. You guys had better not have this happen again, because there are way too many other places to get Chinese food on the same road as you that don't do this. read more

Back again for another dinner. As usual the shrimp meal was big enough for 2 full meals. I got home with 7 large, and I mean large, shrimp. The jumbo shrimp are too large and have no flavor so this restaurant is smart and does not cook the super size shrimp. The fried rice however was pretty tasteless. I should have gotten some egg rolls or cream cheese wontons. My son ordered his usual stir fry but he is tall and eats everything and never takes anything home. Fancy cuisine is not his thing. The night was cold so I got hot tea. It came in a metal metal pot which kept things fairly hot. The parking lot needs resurfacing and is very unpleasant with cracks and potholes etc. but there are always plenty of spaces. Service is always prompt, and pleasant. read more

And the fried rice was horrible. When the waiter (really cool guy) ask how was my meal; I didn't hold back. The food taste different from the prior management. Meaning the prior owners did a decent job with the meals. The waiter did try to get my meal taken off, but new management said no. And I don't have a problem paying for a $47 dollar lesson learned. If you come on here to be a half assed "critic" saying "food way okay, price was okay, kinda recommend" you should grow up out of those pull ups and get a life. Service is amazing, staff was respectful, and the ambience was traditional yet modern in comparison to other Asian kitchens I've frequented. If you want to be mistreated and serve like you don't matter. Because this place has the worst service, I've seen in a long time. The waitress is dressed like she's sitting on the couch wearing sweatshirts and slippers. I ordered a salad. They brought me my salad after my meal I mean like way after. Did not get a drink when we first sat down waited 10 minutes she walked by several times and finally said have you been helped yet and there's nothing on our table. Clueless could've cared less. She was servicing the customer behind us. I'm pretty sure we were sitting in our section but we still were ignored for many many minutes. We ordered water, and when she came back with the water, which also took a long time we ordered our food. it was just two of us, and the place was not that busy at all.! I would avoid this place, unless you want to be mistreated and ignored as a customer. No one should be treated like this with the cost of food these days. This was my first time at Red Bowl in Monroe Mall. I had heard a few friends claiming it was a good place for sushi. I thought I'd give it a try since it was near by. I was seated quickly, and my server was attentive. I ordered the lunch special for $6.00. The presentation and food was fresh and delicious!! When the bill came, I was charged for the drink I ordered. The server and I felt it read the drink was included and explained the manager said he wasn't taking it off. I expressed that Red Bowl needed to make the menu more clear. The manager then quickly came to explain "all his regular customers know you have to order the drink to get the special!" I told him this was my first time, and I had no problem paying. However, it read like it was included in the price. He kept going on about it. At this point he was making people look as he was loudly ranting. My poor server looked embarrassed. I came in for a lunch with a coworker on a week day afternoon after the scheduled lunchtime where wasn't too crowded. The lunch prices are good. The location is prime being at the mall where you can shop and have plenty of parking. Upon entering I was greeted immediately seated, however the waitress speak English which made it very difficult to place an order, ask questions, get recommendations, get specials, or make certain changes to an order. I honestly could of got over it if she wasn't rude. No smile, stood and waited at the table until we paid the check, etc. I was baffled by the waitress having limited vocabulary in English and clear rudeness. When my guest and I asked about the restrooms the waitress walked off so we assumed she didn't know how to explain it and followed her. She went to the kitchen area. We thought she was showing us the restrooms, but eventually figured out how to get there by looking around. The bang bang chicken is squared in structure. Haven't seen chicken like this before and I do not recommend. The generals chicken had a nice glaze to it, however after eating this meal my coworker and I became very lethargic. Finding good food in Monroe can be a challenge , especially if you don't want something that is thrown in boiling oil first. Red Bowl is the best Asian I've had here and is better than I expected for a mall restaurant. Their $5 lunch is good, just know you have to purchase a beverage, so it's more like a $7 special. 2 sushi rolls and salad or miso soup. I suggested the salad with the Ginger dressing. You can get ranch anywhere and the Ginger here is VERY flavorful. Their sushi rolls aren't huge but if you don't wolf it down, you will be satisfied but not stuffed. Another notable item is their Bento Box. It is a full meal with many options. The wait staff is always pleasant and the food is consistent. The fact that 2 can eat for under $30 makes it a regular choice for us. Oh yeah....half price sushi after 8pm is great too! read more

Me and friend went to dine in at Red Bowl Monroe, NC attached to Monroe Mall. We sat down and our server came and was nice. We got our food and drinks and everything was good. We both ordered the cashew chicken lunch portion with a salad and spring roll. We did not know and were not told that that salad would be an extra charge of 4.95. When we got our bill we asked our waiter if it was included in the lunch portion and we were confused about the wording of the menu. He called for his boss name David. David came out to our table and started speaking to us in an aggressive tone. He said that he has never had this problem before and that he was too busy to deal with this. When we asked if he could explain the menu he said that this issue is a language barrier and did not have time (the menu is in English and he is the OWNER). We then gave up trying to explain our confusion and he yelled "give me, give me!" when asking for the menus back. He snatched the menus and then threw his hands in the air and stormed off. I have NEVER been treated like this before at a restaurant for asking about a charge and confusion regarding the menu. I do not care about the extra $4.95 I just wanted to understand because I thought it was included. I will NEVER support this business again. If I could give this place zero stars I would. read more

I really enjoyed lunch at Red Bowl earlier this week. This was my first visit to Red Bowl. I have driven past many of these in the past and have yet to try one. I was unsure of what to expect as I had heard mixed reviews. One major plus was the price point. I spent about $10 on lunch which included an egg roll, half of a spicy tuna roll I split with a coworker, and a sesame chicken and fried rice entree. I was a bit skeptical after walking in and observing a not so friendly odor, but luckily it soon dissipated. The service was truthfully 4 stars, but I really enjoyed the food and had an overall pleasant experience and great lunch! read more

Ok so I like this place for the most part but the lighting.... the lighting HAS to go!! It's so dim and yellow, not an attractive hue. Food is always delicious and hot. Drinks stay filled. Really wanted Koumi today but forgot they are closed on Mondays. I didn't remember this until after I had already gotten three of my coworkers orders for Koumi. When I realized they were closed I called Red Bowl because it's close and they too offer hibatchi. Every one of these dishes were disgusting, and I'm not saying that for dramatics. Two of us had chicken, one had steak and I had steak and shrimp. The rice was mushy, the steak was dry flavorless and so chewy my teeth still hurt. The chicken was covered in black pepper and still bland. These meals smelled as though prepared in old oil. We literally ate the veggies out of the boxes and threw the meals in the trash. That's $40 plus out the window...or should I say in the trash can. I do not recommend them for hibatchi. Totally NOT worth it! read more

My family and I came in one night after visiting joann's next door. The experience was terrible compared to the red bowl we are used to. Everything from the food to the take out boxes and utensils were cheaply made. We were told that due to the coronavirus we had to preorder our food and find a table ourselves to sit down at. Ok fine. So we try to order and the Menu is completely different. So we pick something new and go sit down. I ordered sweet tea and we were given gas station styrofoam cups with our drinks in it. I take a sip of my sweet tea and it was bitter tea and extremely too much sugar. (So much sugar that it makes the tea turn) Then we get our appetizers and food all in to-go containers. Once we dig into the sushi the seaweed paper in my sushi was super chewy and my wife's nigiri had some discoloration in the rice. We asked about my wife's food and the "sushi chef" looked at it like he couldn't find anything wrong. The over-all feel if this restaurant is that it is piggybacking off of Red Bowl's name and cutting all possible costs. Everything is cheap and even the food is suffering. We didn't even have an actual server because the owner got rid of them because of "the coronavirus". Instead they have servers become cashiers who refill your drinks. What kind of experience are you trying to give people? The person who took care of us was the only bit of joy we got out of the visit. She was such a pleasure and she deserves better than getting paid crap while having to share all of her tips. And I wonder who she's sharing tips with? Hopefully not the sushi cook. She's the reason this place got two stars, not him. Don't serve sushi if it looks like it was prepped in the morning and left out all day. Raw tuna isn't fuzzy and if the sushi chef can't see that then we won't be back. We could have gone to McDonald's and gotten the same experience without paying $40 for sub-par food. Bad sushi can kill people. Everyone who reads this please save your money thinking you are coming to an actual Red Bowl. This location is a great example of a franchise built on a good brand, but then all cost are cut so low that it's standards aren't even close to the original concept. And if you think I'm being to harsh on my critique then visit the one in Aberdeen and compare the two. It's night and day. ate lunch this Saturday around 12:30-1:00 and got the $8 lunch special which is 2 rolls of sushi with a soup or a salad. i had the 88 roll and the red bowl roll with a salad with ranch. The red bowl roll was good but the 88 roll and the salad didn't taste quite right. I ended up eating it all anyways which was a big mistake. Went to the bathroom but the door was locked so i stepped outside and before the door closed i just threw up everywhere and the employees watched along with a mother and daughter who were picking up a to go order. I went back to my table and the owner asked me if i was okay and i had told her something was not right with my food. she asked my girlfriend what she had to eat which was also the lunch special but two different rolls. she the saw i had already paid and pretty much told me there was nothing wrong with my food and she hopes i feel better. This is a good place if your hungry and want a quick bite. I didn't enjoy my meal and ordered several items. The shrimp tempura appetizer was actually frozen panko breaded shrimp and the sauce was not sweet but vinegary and the flavors didn't mesh. The sushi was ok. I ordered a salad and the lettuce was wilted and if you can't serve fresh iceberg lettuce I can't trust anything else you serve. The service was the best part of the Experiance.
