I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! When you call the guy on the phone he is always busy but makes sure to take your order quickly so that he can get your pie cookin. The crust is something that only a pizzexpert would know how to do....sourdough crust...come on...heaven!!! I tried the basic pies - cheese, sausage, pepperoni. They were all pretty weak pies. Which is unfortunate because they are one of the few to deliver to my house. They were also surprisingly expensive. A large cheese and a large one topping (not even the x-large) with a $7 off coupon and a coke was still $30. And the guy on the phone couldn't figure out the credit card machine. But they were nice, got the food here and didn't forget the coke. I have to admit, I'm shocked by the negative reviews of this place. The pizza is delicious and huge. I feel like you get what you pay for; its definitely not the least expensive pizza I've ordered but the quality and price is far better than Round Table or the other more well known chains. And you get SO much pizza! You HAVE to try the garlic bread with cheese. Its unbelievable! I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Delivery is always fast, they always quote me 45 minutes but I usually get it in 30. I would give this place 5 stars, but I do agree that the man on the phone is not especially friendly. I went there the other day at 3 PM and the door was locked, even though the open sign was in the window. I knocked and no one heard me. I came back about 5 minutes later and they were open. Why were they closed for that brief period? I was hungry, but almost went home. I ordered a slice of pizza and it seemed like it had just come out of a fridge. It was really soft and gooey, and just not very good. It was cheap enough, but not worth my 3 bucks. I've been going to this particular Red Boy since the 80s and 90s (when Patrick owned this franchise) and am only now writing a review because it's so much worse now. Patrick's pizzas were awesome, and we'd order whole pizzas back then. I don't eat pizza that often now, so when I do, I get two slices with extra mushrooms. That costs $7.50, $8.00. Even five years ago, they would have lots of sauce and lots of mushrooms. Now there's a thin smear of sauce and a scattering of mushrooms. Eh. The location is really convenient for pick up, though, right on the Miracle Mile. I'm sad that I have to find some other place for the occasional pizza itch. Redboy used to be a favorite, for over 10 years, but today we ordered at 4:45, we didn't receive our food for over 2hrs and 20mins. It arrived cold, undercooked, to the point the crust didn't even rise and it was super soft on the bottom. There was so much cheese that the crust was completely covered on one side, so much so that was stuck to the box. I called and the young man and woman I spoke to on the phone were pleasant and understanding. They said another would be sent over immediately. An hour and a half later- a second cold underdone pizza shows up. I call and the young lady was apologetic, and said she was an emergency driver, but other driver wasn't allowed to let her deliver orders. What the F?! Normally I would think that was a weird thing to say- but given how sincere both of them were it seems like there's an issue with another employees screwing up. They have been inconsistent the last few times. One of the drivers had had unkempt dirty clothes, with over an inch long dirty yellow fingernails. We felt bad for him, but switched to Doordash because, come on, you can't work in food service like that. While using Doordash- their delivery driver showed up with our food. Odd right? We were so surprised- but it then made sense why our driver wasn't responding to our messages. It's really a huge shame. It used to be a solid place. We will probably give them a chance again in a few months, our house hold hopes they can get it together. read more

I think other reviewers are confused about this place it's the red boy on miracle mile. The Red boy that closed is on 4th IN downtown. I'm not defending this place as delicious over the top great pizza but it's the only one that opens until midnight. They are only a take-out establishment with no where to sit. Spent 50.00 on two pizzas. Simply asked them to keep paper plates in there car so when someone needs some they have them with them. The owner says you have to ask. that is there policy. The "Red Boy Special" pizza is my all-time favorite, always has been. It took them an 1.25 hrs to get it here, but that's to be expected. Allowing a half hour to prep and cook the pizza, it's fifteen mins to my office sans traffic. But I ordered this at commute hour when it easily takes 30 mins to get from Red Boy, San Rafael to my office. So I didn't expect it faster. The pizza was wonderful as always. The last few, I've gotten from Red Boy, Larkspur and I haven't had good experiences there the last year or two. The dining area and restroom are terrible, the Red Boy Special hasn't been as good and the team running things there is shabby. As regards the dining area they should either make it really, really nice or shut it down and do pickup/delivery-only like the San Rafael store. read more

The crust is the best part. Sour dough. I always get the Red Boy Special - it's the definition of what a pizza should be. My fiancée really loves the homemade blue cheese and the fresh made buttermilk ranch is also another fav for dunking the crust. All in all a reliable and great pie. I've had many a pie from Red Boy and (as a former Brooklynite) consider myself a bit of a pizza aficionado - they do a great job and load up the toppings. It's a bit unique in taste (not boring) and I have never been disappointed. No skimping on the portions here - I can eat some pizza, but there is always plenty left over. The pizza warrants 4 Stars ... but it's just a bit overpriced in my opinion, so that means 3. I'm giving four stars to the huge single cheese slices, which you can eat at a small counter. I go out of my way for them, and the kids I drive around feel the same way. Otherwise, we've had takeout a few times in the past, and I'd have to say that's more hit and miss and less memorable (and a bit on the more expensive side). Since my rating is low, I feel like I should break it down a little. Pizza quality: 5 stars, truly wonderful pizza, I couldn't ask for one that tastes better. Customer service: 1 star, horrible, and I mean that. They took forever, I went in there for a slice of pizza at the same time this other dude did. They where super rude to both of us, eventually the other guy just left, I hung out and it took over 20 minutes for them to get the slice ready. No big deal you say? They where putting the orders they got on the phone in front of mine even tho I was there longer. Not only that, after waiting around for over 20 minutes they botched my order too, gave me the wrong ingredients (it was still amazingly delicious) and there was CHARCOAL all over the bottom of the pizza. Now I don't mean the pizza was burnt, I mean it had pieces of burnt pizza on the underside because they apparently don't clean their oven as much as I'd personally like. Despite my unhappy experience I was still going to tip a couple bucks until I asked about a side of ranch dressing. The man said that'll be 90 cents. Wait a minute.. did I miss something? I just sat here for over 20 minutes, you screwed up my order, where a rude little punk and you're going to charge me for a side of ranch, and not just charge, but charge almost a dollar for a little tiny bin. Why the big deal you may ask? After all, it's just a buck. It's the principle of the thing! Most places give you a side of ranch for -free- if you're going to charge make it something small like a quarter or something. Well I hope they enjoy that 90 cent bonus from the ranch dressing, because it cost them their two dollar tip. Price: 2 stars. A slice is about 3.50. Good amount of pizza for that, I approve. If you get any size larger then a slice, unless it's an extra large you arn't very good at math. Their full sized pizza's are absuredly over priced compared to the deal a slice of pizza is. I recommend the slice. So why 2 stars you may ask? Well, the pricing is really skewed as I just mentioned, however that isn't the reason for the low star rating. It's their charge for ranch dressing, as I just mentioned. -end rant- Go here if you want good pizza and don't care about service. Memories of my youth are filled with flashes of chewy sourdough crust; tangy, flavorful sauce and just a touch of burn on the edges. What you get now is a shadow. Red Boy Pizza has been in Marin going on fifty years. They have a pizza called The Red Boy's Special that is incredibly good - if you're a meat eater! I've always gone to the Larkspur store but have had a couple of so-so experiences there recently, so now I order from this store and have it delivered. I've ordered it twice in the last two months and both times they were on time, courteous and the pizza was wonderful! One of the two deliveries was outside of their posted delivery area, but the person who took my order said no problem. read more
