We were pleasantly surprised at the excellent service by Javi at the Red Lobster on Rt 59 in Naperville. His service was excellent. Pleasant smile and greeting , gave us time to look at the menu, attentive but not too over powering. We ordered the New England Lobster tails which were cooked just right and delicious. The service at red lobster has never been anything to brag about this specific location is specifically rude, understaffed, and generally unenjoyable. There's a weird sense of misery in the air that is certain to ruin the mood of any meal. The bartender with the green hair is specifically rude and actively ignored my black sister and myself for 15 minutes without serving us while the restaurant is quite literally empty. We went to Red Lobster to celebrate a couple of birthdays. It's been a while since we'd been there. Wow. The service has gone downhill. Our server took our drink order. Took a while to get them and, even then, not all at once. Took our order. Biscuits showed up 15 minutes later. (I'd forgotten they were part of the deal.). Food came a lot later. Had to ask for utensils. Items missing. No water or offers to bring any. When the things they'd missed were delivered, our server was gone so fast we had no time to ask for anything. Asked if we wanted dessert. My wife did. Slow again and, again, no utensils. We arrived at 6:00 on a Monday night. Not busy. The food was fine. The place was clean. Me and my family went to Red Lobster as we are all Gold members and love going out to red lobster for lunch and dinner. We came Friday September 29,2023 for dinner and left fed up and unhappy with the poor service and lack thereof. We came in at 7pm and waited till 8pm for our appetizer which was only one queso. Our main course took another hour as well as a second refill. Multiple tables dealt with the same thing and even complained to speak to a manager to which staff said she was not working today. But we all noticed there actually was atleast an assistant manager on the floor named "Danny" who never once stopped at any of the tables to ask if anything was okay or to subdue the chaotic environment within the restaurant or help the overwhelmed staff who seemed to be pretty new but atleast trying their best. The servers were all pleasant and friendly they just needed some support and help which the manager on the floor tonight never gave them. Tables were walking out without paying left and right as no one for hours came by tables to help close them out so they left instead of waiting hours for someone to help service them. This was a terrible experience and I highly doubt me and my family will be back anytime soon to this location. We came in at 7 and didn't get to close out our tickets until 10. read more

Unacceptable service. We did the call ahead seating and were told 30 - 60 minutes. No big deal, but over an hour into our wait the host still couldn't give us an accurate time for when we would be seated. Yes, we had a larger group, but the disorganization of the host stand, the unsupportive manager lingering over their shoulders, and the lack of customer service was disappointing. Next time we'll go somewhere local and skip this place altogether. Don't waste your time or $$. UPDATE: I would be remiss to not mention Jeremiah at the host stand. My family and I were planning a fun night out and we were unsure of a place to have a nice seafood dinner. We realized that we pass this restaurant almost daily on Route 59 and never think to stop. Why not? Everyone's tired of all the uppity seafood restaurants in Naperville where you pay $60 for a half-mediocre piece of steak and a frozen lobster tail, anyway. Upon arrival, you are greeted by live Maine lobsters in a tank, so you know your food will be fresh. We were then graciously welcomed by Byron, who was one of the most polite waiters I have had in years! He was very knowledgeable and gave useful advice at the bar about cocktails. I had a Berry Mango Daiquiri that was absolutely divine. When we moved to our table, it was impeccably clean with comfortable booth seating. I ordered the Lobster Tilapia, which was hearty, fresh, and delicious. As I remember fondly from my childhood, the Cheddar Biscuits were sublime. Angelleca also visited us halfway through our meal and was extremely attentive. In short, Red Lobster may be a chain, but your experience there is atypical - rather, it encompasses the ambiance of a fine seafood establishment. It has been A LONG time since I had eaten at a Red Lobster. Had not eaten here because in years past the food just wasn't very good. Placed a "to go" order and had the lobster linguini and dessert. No drinks and total cost was $37!!! The pasta was very bland and lacked seasoning. I also think the lobster was under cooked. The apple pie dessert was ice cold and I tried to microwave it for a couple minutes. I think a McDs $1 apple pie tastes better! The pasta dish could have passed for a FROZEN procreases microwave TV style dinner and not a fancy $30 dish I paid for. This place is pretty busy and the servings fresh. We had a 20 minute wait on a pleasant Friday evening. Their cheddar biscuits are delectable. The $10 lobster pizza made for a nice, light dinner. Wife had the salmon and flounder dinner and it was a nice meal. It's been ages since we came here, and I think it's been remodeled at some point. How do you forget the sauce for the crab cakes on three consecutive orders? I emailed customer service the first time, the second time I called the store and now I'm posting online. Made reservations for 6 at 5pm. When we walked in they put us on the waiting list. They had us wait for 50 minutes after I checked multiple times with the hostess. The hostess are very incompetent. It was like they were just trying to finish the food on hand. My fish was rare and it took awhile to have it redone even tho there were about 5 people in there. First time in a long time since i've been to Red Lobster. My Mom was in town & she had a gift card, so we went for dinner on 7/21. We both got the Shrimp Topped Crab Cake with Zucchini. I should have taken a pic, but with Mom I just didn't want to be rude. The Crab Cakes, definitely not what i was expecting, i sure as hell would not call that a Crab Cake, at best it it was a Crab slider. There were 2 medium size shrimp on top that were about the same size of the crab cake; if it was 2 inches in diameter i would be shocked. The thickness, a White Castle Slider is thicker. Honestly, this was much more of an appetizer than a meal. For a $19.99 meal, i expected an actual Crab Cake. I went in there, having not been for so long, an open mind to give them a fair shake. They also had only served one when there should have been two. The only good review was Mike, the bartender & the person who took care of me. This was a "to go" order. Yes, it's a Red Lobster. You probably already know what to expect: it's nothing fancy, no surprises, but decent food for the price. (The Lobster, Artichoke and Seafood Dip is probably about eight million calories, but it is delicious.) I'm not a fan of the pasta dishes, though; best to stick with straight-up seafood. If you are of drinking age, you must - MUST - get the Sunset Passion Colada (a piña colada with strawberry). The last time I went, the waitress asked if I wanted to add more alcohol for like, an additional dollar. Obviously, when someone offers you more alcohol for a dollar, "yes" is the only acceptable answer. The drink came in an ENORMOUS glass with a sidecar of rum. I looked like an alcoholic and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend was embarrassed to be seen with me, but it was SO WORTH IT. read more

Red Lobster used to be the place to grab an inexpensive seafood dinner where the quality wasn't bad. You had a good meal for a decent price. Over the years though, this location has went downhill in both food quality and service. The last time I went here with my boyfriend, we had a horrible experience. It was slightly busy for a Friday night but we were seated immediately. We waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. I don't need my ass kissed but damn at least say "I'll be there in a few minutes." It was another 5 minutes before both our drink and dinner order was taken down by the waitress. We should've known better and left. The Cheddar biscuits and Caesar salad arrived and everything was up to par with that. But when we asked for more biscuits (it's unlimited and why not), the waitress comes out with only one extra biscuit for two people. There was no explanation like "we ran out" or something along those lines. Just a basket with one lonely biscuit. The dinners were not any better. We both ordered the Seaside Shrimp Trio. My entrée came to the table and looked like the food had been dropped after it was on the plate. There was butter and garlic sauce everywhere and just looked unappealing. If that wasn't bad enough, the shrimp scampi contained only four tiny shrimps. Now I've had this special before so I know there's a lot more on there than that especially for the price you're shelling it. I asked the waitress and she said the scampi always had that amount of shrimp in it. The service was atrocious. Apart from everything mentioned above, our drinks weren't refilled and it was another 15 minutes to get the check. My eldest had his birthday dinner here last year, so we had it again here this year. Well this time around was a HUGE disappointment! It was a Wednesday evening and the place was almost empty. The hostess immediately sat us and was friendly. Our server, Ru, was attentive (a little over, in fact). But this is the LAST TIME we will ever eat here and here's why: 1. You would think that a seafood restaurant would have nailed down cooking seafood, right? I mean, how hard is it to boil crab?!? The crab legs were so salty, I felt like I was drinking ocean water! We had to slather the crab meat in that clarified butter sauce to tone it down. The table next to us also complained about their crab. I made sure the waiter knew to tell the chef that the water they must've boiled the crabs in was over-salted. The manager should know about this before dinner service. (Like make sure the kitchen staff know how much salt they should use per pot). I honestly don't think the kitchen had the proper staff. 2. The whole 1 1/4 lb lobster was literally just steamed and dumped on a plate with, I kid you not, marble sized potatoes! We literally had to white-knuckle open the lobster tail with our bare hands! We had the tools to crack the claws open but the tail was not trimmed at all! OMG I have never been served lobster like this where there was absolutely no care from the kitchen on how to present a $32 dish!! They literally just plopped the steamed crustacean onto the plate and did not care how the diners we're going to eat it! On top of that, after struggling and nearly bleeding from cracking the lobster shell, the lobster meat was like rubber!! It was over-cooked!! And we ordered 2 of these dishes!!! GRRRRR... 3. The broccoli sides were over-steamed as well. WTF was the kitchen staff doing?!? Playing Candy Crush? Because the waiter was nice overall, we didn't give him a hard time about the food. That was the kitchen's fault, not his. But I do hope that this place closes down. There was absolutely no excuse for the disappointing quality of their food on a non-busy weekday dinner service. If you want amazing seafood (and better garlic dinner rolls), go to Chinn's On 34th in Naperville. Spend your money there. It is soooo much more worth it! read more

We had a great experience at this location today. We stopped in for dinner and crab fest, and it did not disappoint. Our server, Shaniya, was awesome. She was attentive and very pleasant. The manager on duty was attentive as well; she checked in on us and other guest ensuring we were having a good experience. I had the new Crab Imperial with an add on of 1/2 lb Bairdi crab legs and the hubs had the create your own trio with Walt Shrimp and whiting fish. first time to red lobster in years & it was amazing! service was great. when the biscuits came out they were so warm and fresh, they made my whole body warm. i ordered a creamy and cheesy shrimp linguine.... 2 DIE FOR. the most AMAZING pasta i've eaten. it came with a grilled shrimp skewer & its was decent, not the best. & i also got creamy lobster smashed potatoes which were amazing. highly reccomend. would come back soon. the drink menu is amazing as well. read more

No wonder the Red Lobster brand is failing. There is no sign of the Red Lobster I grew up with. When I was a kid, Red Lobster was my favorite restaurant. It also was home to my favorite food, the seafood fondue. Ever since they decided to revise their image and shed most of the former menu items, Red Lobster has been frequented by me less and less. My husband took me here Sunday, and I can honestly say that it will be the last. The restaurant was busy and we had to wait 40 minutes, no big deal. When we were finally seated, we had sat down for less than a minute before our waiter asked us our drink order. I hate when this happens! Not only because it gives the waiter an excuse to ditch our table if we ask for more time, but it also leads to hasty drink decisions if you don't want to wait for your waiter to return from who knows where. I choose the latter. So while waiting for our drinks, the 11 year old gem sitting behind my husband, felt the need to repeatedly kick my husband's seat. When our waiter returned with our drinks, I told him the issue, and instead of doing anything he walked away. Then a manager walked by, told him the issue. He then walked over, asked if they were alright, came back and told us they would be leaving soon because they were done with their meal. At this point I was about to ask for our check and leave when our waiter returned. He asked if the kid was still kicking, and he had never stopped. Finally after 15 minutes, he went over and asked the kid to stop. Overall the food was bland and overcooked. Out of everything I had, only enjoyed my coconut shrimp. Even the biscuits seemed watered down (less cheese and garlic). I will never go back, especially to this location. If management is reading this, I hope you feel ashamed of how your restaurant is run. Customer satisfaction is important to running a business, we never even received an apology. We arrived around 6:15, it is now 8:30. The wait for a table was rather long, that can be excused. A popular restaurant on a Sunday, sure. What was completely unacceptable was the ridiculously long time it took for everything to get to us. We were seated around 6:30 and didn't get our appetizer until 7 and our entrees until 7:45. Drink refills were slow and so was replenishment of bread. We didn't even get our first round of cheddar biscuits until we asked for them after receiving the drinks (all non-alcoholic fountain drinks) after a strangely long wait. None of the servers were in the weeds and even found time for two of them to take lobsters out of the tank for another tables kids to play with. There was absolutely nothing to complain about concerning the food (aside from ridiculously high amounts of salt, but it's a chain restaurant, so it's par). service was slow to near non existent. We like coming here because it's very family friendly. The food portion is definitely worth the price. I like how they always have new items in their menu. The service is pretty good too. We've never had bad service, even with the trainees. If you download the app, you can get free appetizers or desserts. Just scan your receipts to earn points. I have ordered from this location several time and my experience has always been good. Last time though, I noticed that I ordered a meal that was $53 and some change. Few days later, I noticed my credit card had been charged $63. So someone there helped themselves to some tips I never authorized. Of course, I disputed the charge. Bottom line, I can't say this is a recurring issue, as it has only happened to me once, but I'll advise anyone that dines here to keep their receipts until the final charge appears on your credit card statement; probably a good practice when you dine anywhere.
