I haven't been to a Red Lobster for years and on my way home from Longmont I saw it and thought about the Cheddar Bay Biscuits and my car just turned into the parking lot. I got the lunch soup and salad and a glass of Josh Cabernet. Of course the biscuits come with it. I went back in time to a much younger me who chose Red Lobster as my "birthday dinner" restaurant and I have nothing but wonderful memories of the food and the restaurant. I was greeted by a friendly host and seated immediately. My server was kind and efficient. The restaurant is more "open" than when I was a kid but still holds that nostalgic feel. The music is lively and not obnoxiously loud. The clam Choi was hot and delicious with lots of clams. The biscuits were as delectable as ever and tasted so good with the wine! Took my husband for his 55th birthday, I am extremely disappointed, after ordering him a seafood boil at $56 they offered no senior discount and only offered a scoop of ice cream for his birthday, when I asked if they could change it to a piece of cake, as he was extremely full, so he could take it home, they said NO. I had a 6oz filet $28, waiter asked how I wanted my potato, I said loaded mashed, I was charged $2.49 and an additional $2.99 for a salad, so I guess the $28 is just for the steak. I asked for a skinny margarita, noting that there were several margarita options but was told no after receiving a dismissive look. I then observed that was no bartender so I can only guess that the drinks were pre-made, perhaps canned. We ordered the mariner's boil. When asked which sauce we wanted, I requested just butter. The server said that would taste terrible and no one ever orders that! Having lived in both the south and New England, I have made and enjoyed many boils that were just butter. The boil itself was mostly frozen pieces, with the exception of the small lobster tail, that was served in a large plastic bag with a large quantity of garlic from a jar and butter. Mushy corn on the cob; pale, frozen shrimp; and difficult-to-eat frozen crab was a true disappointment. Only the lobster tail tasted fresh. Finally we ordered broccoli as a side but never received it. If Red Lobster is to survive they should reconsider their cooking methods and options for customers. Came on a Friday night. It wasn't busy at all they did have Covid rules enforced face masks to come in and at the tables. The waitress and waiters were all wearing masks. Our waitress was training someone and both of the young ladies were very friendly and helpful. They were on top of their game. The restaurant was clean and had a comfortable vibe to it. Everything we ordered was amazing and didn't take long to come out. I would suggest getting the grilled lobster. Not that the steamed lobster wasn't good but the grilled was just so damn good. This very Restaurant chain for seafood is my family and I's best pick when it comes to choices of all sorts of oceanic creatures for a full course meal and left over lunch for the next day. Generally as one of the best dinner choices. We generally go to either the facility in Westminster or Greeley, depending upon where we travel to in a specific chosen direction. But this particular location was unbeknownst to my family. On this day, I discovered this place simply due to the luck of on site work. It was over a hundred degrees and this Red Lobster was extremely accommodating, giving my coworkers and myself free drinks and pizzas. Normally, I do not eat at Red Lobster unless it is a special occasion, when I do, the Ultimate feast is my number one choice. As for the writing of this day, this very Red Lobster is now going to be my first choice, when my family and I are going out. As for myself, I'm externally grateful for the service that this location has provided and the pizza was excellent, ice cold water so refreshing. Whenever I'm given pizza, I "seafood" and eat it. My son was craving the biscuits so we stopped in last night for dinner. We were seated promptly and our server was friendly, taking good care of us. We had the calamari (so good and perfectly crisp without being greasy), the stuffed flounder, surf and turf and a cheeseburger (all difficult 12 yr olds order cheeseburgers at a seafood restaurant, amiright?). The biscuits were amazing as always and we plowed through our basket quickly. My stuffed flounder was good and definitely soaked in a butter bath. My son enjoyed his surf & turf and my daughters burger was pretty amazing looking with drippy cheese and a golden bun. She was too stuffed from biscuits and calamari to eat it, so we took it home for later. Good stuff. I never thought I would enjoy a chain as much as I did on my visit. The service was quick and attentive, my food was cooked perfectly, and the price was reasonable. You could add in some frills and presentation to make it more of a non-chain experience, but in reality, I wouldn't change a thing. Being a chain restaurant, the menu offerings are the same at all the Red Lobster restaurants that I've been to with no specials and they have same menu at all restaurants. (Thus, the average rating of 3 stars). More than half of the entreés are fried, battered or soaked in butter and not very imaginative. At first sight, the menu items are moderately pricey to pricey, but are actually a good value as they come with your choice of two side dishes and their "famous" biscuits. I ordered the combination of coconut shrimp and bay scallops which surprised me being served in a bowl of oil/butter (the menu didn't explain how they were being prepared and I should have asked, assuming they would be sautéed with a small amount of butter) with a small bowl/cup of lobster bisque (delicious) and a generic garden salad. My father (who loves Red Lobster) ordered his favorite fried shrimp (Captain Mike's?, or something like) and it was the daily special for Thursday, with a generic coleslaw and a baked potato with longustine topping. Both of us were unable to finish our meals and take-out boxes were readily available. We were too full to order dessert, but upon paying, my father received a free piece of cheesecake to redeem upon his next visit. (I guess that's a good way for Red Lobster to entice diners to return!) Our server was very attentive, efficient and upbeat. As we were the last diners that night, we observed the very thorough cleaning of the booths... every surface was cleaned and tables were moved to allow proper vacuuming and the booth seats were washed along with walls and fixtures. I'm a fan of Red Lobster's "Endless Shrimp". Shrimp Scampi can't be beat, but Breaded, Fiesta, and Linguini Alfredo and all excellent ways to enjoy shrimp! I have eaten at this Red Lobster for over 10 years and in that time the food itself has not really improved or changed. It is mostly what you would expect from a large chain type restaurant with the food being noticeably bulk generated with premade items. With the shrimp being I think their shining jewel, the Lobster is always insanely overcooked and almost inedible no matter how you get it cooked. AS far as their pasta dishes go, other than like the shrimp or crab alfredo anything else seems like its pasta in a bowl covered in a premade glob of scampi butter than just allowed to melt. The top 3/4 is just dry flavorless pasta with the bottom soaked in fat. Just feels rushed. Having been going here for a while I have learned how to manipulate my food from the normal to make it enjoyable, but if you are unaware of how or what to expect then prepare for a mediocre experience. Cheddar bay biscuits are on point though, when you can get them brought to you more than once. The all you can eat specials are usually pretty decent with new items as they seem actually prepared except for the crab which really just feels frozen and old and is usually dried out and overcooked. Most of the appetizers are very good like the lobster pizza and dip, and the desserts are fantastic, as well as the chicken dishes. If you want seafood, there are better places to go, but for convenience and knowing what to expect I continue to go. read more
