My daughters bought me dinner for my birthday! I sit here typing in anger what just happened. We ordered 3 meals to go but when we got home there was only 2 meals and mine wasn't one of them. Spoke to the mgr and she apologized and said come back for the food and they would comp us some cake. I'm diabetic so this was more of a slap in the face. We just came here for a half dozen cheddar bay biscuits, cuz they are that addicting. This location is no different from the others in terms of quality and flavor... which is a good thing, so we always know what we're getting. The hours were different on Christmas Day, they were open from 1-8pm. So we came a few minutes before 1:00pm, and were first in line at the Take-Out counter. The other counter (for dine-in parties) was being served for about 10 minutes, before they got someone to start helping on the Take-Out side. I get it, they just opened for the day and were swamped with orders, being one of the few restaurants open during the holiday (I still think they could have prepared for that better). What happened!? The food quality has definitely declined! Below is a summary of what we ordered. - Biscuits: so disappointing. They didn't seem cooked all the way and tasted stale or a bad recipe. We asked for another basket hoping it was a bad batch but they all tasted bad - Side house salad: it was gross. It tasted like it was pre-made a week ago and was just sitting in the refrigerator - Pearl Harbor: was good - Cajun chicken pasta: this was actually the best tasting. I did some work in the South Bay Area, and got off early today. I went straight over here to Red Lobster this evening. I'm familiar with this neighborhood. I haven't been here in ages. Due to conflict of interest, I have nothing to do with Red Lobster for over year. So I really had a thing with a female part-time waitress named Samantha here and dated her a few times 10 years ago. So what? That was a very long time ago. That Samantha can never replace my first Latina Samantha in French class 16 years ago. Anyways, the vibes in here are so '99 or early 2000s. It's very dark and dingy, but still nostalgic. I had to get the Lobster Pappardelle Pasta with Maine and one of my favorite Langostine Lobster with Asparagus and savory Garlic Sauce, and a Mango Lemonade. And everybody out there knows the Cheddar Biscuits remain undefeated, just like the Texas Roadhouse Bread. The Lobster was cool, the Pasta was aight. They were generous with the Lemon in the Sauce. Arrival time 1:38pm Nobody at the host stand when I entered About 30 seconds later a host arrived to seat me immediately Ample parking but depending on which direction you're coming from, you may have to perform a uturn or other maneuver to get into the parking lot due to the dividers on such a wide street. Decor is old and dated. Walmart quality salt and pepper shakers. The crowd is older and relaxed. The music is bland and not exciting. There are cool mobile payment and game devices on the table. However, they are filthy and with covid I'd expect they'd be wiped down after each customer. I ordered an old fashioned but the waitress didn't know what that was or if it were offered. There was no attempt to ask the bartender so I just switched to a crown Royal on ice , no chaser. They gave me a very heavy pour and the perfect amount of ice. I wasn't offered a water on the side. I then ordered clam chowder bowl as my appetizer which came with their classic cheddar bay biscuits. It was about 12 minutes from the time I arrived until the time I had food in front of me. The clam chowder was about 95% runny broth. It had a few potatoes but oddly absent of clam. My disappointment was immense. The biscuits were delicious, thankfully. They appear short handed so service is abysmal. 1 waitress appears to be working a 15 table area. Entree arrived at 2:10pm Deep fried scallops are good. Light and crispy batter. Broccoli is cooked perfectly but it's bland without any sort of seasoning at all. Salmon appeared well done although I've asked for it to be cooked medium. It was about a 4oz portion. Crispy skin and light grill marks on the presentation side. Steak was closer to medium well, so again not done correctly. Eventually when my waitress came around, i informed her but didn't choose to send it back (I've heard stories about sending food back). The steak was juicy on the inside. I tasted salt, corse peppercorn and a pinch of spice. I was still not offered water the entire meal. I was also not offered desert. I gave her a $15 cash tip on a $51.13 bill. I've been to this location a bunch of times since my childhood and it's always delicious! My friend and I were seated after a short wait of ~10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. The ambiance is a nice dimly lit restaurant that has cozy fishing trip vibes. The complimentary cheddar bay biscuits were amazing as always. Love eating them while they're hot! Those can get you full fast but it's so hard to resist eating them. I got the shrimp your way (chose 2) and went with the new crispy dragon shrimp, popcorn shrimp, and a side of mashed potatoes. I loved my entire entree! The crispy dragon shrimp tasted like something they'd have at Panda Express. My friend also got the shrimp your way and chose 2, and she went with the popcorn shrimp and shrimp linguine Alfredo. The Alfredo was super yummy as well! Mom was craving lobster, so we went here. The wait wasn't long, maybe about 20 minutes. I tried to call in to get in the wait-list, but they don't do that (anymore?). It was cool though. The Almaden location in San Jose's temporarily closed with street construction, so I came here to enter a cheddar bay biscuit coma and wasn't disappointed. The service was good, the server noted they posted deals on Instagram and it was $5 margarita day. The margarita was as big as your head in a massive glass. Since it was Monday, I had ultimate endless shrimp. I polished off 4 plates of shrimp and 4 orders of the crack-infused biscuits. Walt wasn't kidding about his "favorite" shrimp and the jumbo coconut shrimp are a tropical paradise of enjoyment. Who was Walt, was it Disney? Nobody seems to know but he correctly favored this breaded shrimp. One can purchase the RL biscuit mix at the grocer and bake at home, but they just aren't the same as the restaurant...where they're served as hot as a nuclear reactor in a basket on your table. After two of the massive two-handed margaritas, one can summon the courage for more biscuits and shrimp. You then stop caring who Walt was and focus on the endgame of rolling yourself to the car and the long jaunt home down Capital Expressway. It's neat they have the lobster tank in the waiting area, but it means you can't enjoy watching the crustaceans in the tank from a favorite table or the bar. Red Lobster should just make the entire bar into a transparent tank in some location. The rubber bands erode any advantage lobsters hold over a weary patron, but nonetheless they'd still need to be safe from that village idiot who'd try and grab a live lobster after putting a lit candle out on the bar with a hand placed over the top. Here's the takeaways: 1. Nobody knows how long the Almaden Expressway location will be temporarily closed, or when the street construction will end. 2. Monday is the day to visit, with endless shrimp and drink specials. 3. The service here was good, ample parking but a longer jaunt for many. 4. The beer on-tap is awful, Blue Moon's the only acceptable choice and it's not very good itself. They need to update and upgrade their draft beer with decent local craft brew. My girlfriend and I went Friday night 11/8/24 and were honestly very impressed. The food was good, the ambiance is very nice, a very pleasant evening and meal. We split the ultimate feast where we got a lobster tail, 2 snow crab clusters, shrimp scampi dish, shrimp Alfredo, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and unlimited biscuits. Many people within my networks don't care for Red Lobster. I actually don't mind them and actually sometimes -- crave for their food. My girlfriend and I stopped by for a quick dinner to catch up. The food isn't the absolute best but it does the trick. I usually shake it up and order different appetizers and entrees. They have plenty of pastas, steak, and seafood options. You can build your own combo with whatever sides (standard or premium) so there will something to offer even for the pickiest eaters. Unlimited bread rolls but be careful -- they are addicting especially when they arrive nice and hot to the table. I've never had any issues with customer service here. This past week, we had a death in our family. With that, we all flew down to the San Jose Bay Area California to give our respects. This is one of many Red Lobsters that we frequent when in my home town. We used to lived in the Evergreen foothills from the 1980's through 1999. When we arrived, no one was at the desk and we waited for 12 minutes to be asked how many. When asked how many ppl, we told them 12 ppl, but only 8 of us were at Red Lobster, at that time more to follow. The time tables were 7pm PST, on a Saturday May 06, 2023. Less than 30ppl total in the restaurant. They refused to seat us, due to our party had not all been there. Note, we always get appetizers and drinks, plus we had two extra small children. We waited another 8 minutes before we told them that we wanted to be seated and the rest of our party can sit at anther table. Waited another 8 minutes to put a table together for the eight ppl. We were seated at a table for 14. We were then told that when everyone shows up, no table would have to be added. Side note at this time, three of us that were seated are frequent customers, and I mean a few times per month. With that, we told our waitress that the party would be late and they can sit at another table, since Red Lobster was fairly empty. We order appetizers and drinks, came in a timely fashion. Ordered our meal, and then one of the hostesses (in the middle of our appetizer) changed the tables, we guess since we told the waitress about our party sitting at and table Our meals came nicely, and in good time. My wife order was incorrect & at the end of the meal, we were billed for the incorrectly meal & the one she received. No refills on any waters, ice tea or sodas. Not asked about any drinks or kids drinks. My son ordered an extra lbs of crab (see in photos) on several pieces (inside crab) were mild and brought it to the attention of our waitress. She seen it and agreed it was some type of disgusting mold. She Asked if she could take it to her manager. We never seen a manager, but was told it was mold from being left out to long and they would replaced it. My son was done with his entire meal when, He/she manager sent out one small piece of a crab to replace his "cluster" of crab! This visit was not big, but did exceed the $300.00 mark and this Red Lobster needs some serious retraining & employees. This particular one has some really poor issues. Afterwards, I looked up on several internet sites about Red Lobster, now days with a score of a D+ and that this CEO, Kim Lopdrup is at the lowest of other food places of equal. Plz take the time to read "Red Lobster Executive Team The Red Lobster Executive Team is rated a "D+" and led by CEO Kim Lopdrup. Red Lobster employees rate their Executive Team in the Bottom 25% of similar size companies on Comparably with 10,000+ Employees. Employees who have been at the company Less than 1 Year and employees who have been at the company 2 to 5 Years are more confident in their Executive Team, while Non-Binary employees and the HR department think there is room for improvement. Out of their 5 competitors, Joe's Crab Shack, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Chili's, Red Lobster's score ranks in 6th place." I would say to avoid this Red Lobster at all cost. We have been to many Red Lobster in many states and by far this one is the worst. We should have been seated right away. My wife's order should have been credited. Refill refills ie water, ice tea. The entire lbs of crab shop have been replace and or not changed. The manager should have came to our table with an Apology. Not insulted with a single carb leg for a Cluster. Again, Managment needs to be retrained or replaced. Went here for a birthday party (party of 10). Two of us ordered the all you can shrimp, took 40+ mins after served to get my sides, we wanted more shrimp but no one ever came by the table. My girl order the full lobster, no pick or small fork to get the meat out. Only after we asked for the check, someone asked for just a few coconut shrimp we never got, the waitress obliged us. They have a decent lunch selection. Both orders were $15.99. I ordered the sailors platter. I wasn't a big fan of the Panko breaded fish. The shrimp scampi didn't seem fresh at all. The baked potato was a mini version The best part was the popcorn shrimp. The fish and chips weee actually pretty good. How can you go wrong tho. They also charged us for our iced tea refill. To be quite honest with you, I've never been a fan of Food chain restaurants. I just think the dishes are mostly generic and the flavor just isn't there as much. However, my husband, father-in-law and I recently dined here and I have to say how impressed I was. Henry was our server and he did a fantastic job at tending to our every need. The ambiance was also nice considering it was an early Friday. I think my favorite part was the Shrimp Carbonara my husband ordered. It was so creamy and flavorful.
