We haven't been in Vegas since 2012. We got away with Frontier Airline last weekend. Dropped by Cosmopolitan and decided to book this beautiful restaurant for dinner before going to the show Mystere at Treasures Island. The restaurant is on the 3rd floor of the Boulevard inside the hotel. We're greeted pleasantly and sat down right away. The restaurant looks expensive and it kinda. Our server was "Howie", quite humorous and attentive, we did have a great conversation. We're joking about the little cup of soups and appetizers. My wife loved the mixed drink that they have Blossom something that had all the nice liquor in it. I always go with Sweet Vermouth before dinner. We wanted the minced beef egg flower soups, they come in individual cups. This one was excellent, very tasty and hot (not spicy hot). We had appetizers chicken with lettuce cups again, small lettuce wraps. This one is very uniquely prepared, with pine nuts, never had one like this before, we really liked it, quite different and delicious. The next one was soft shell crabs, my wife is always a lover for this type of dish. She kept complementing how good it crunched and flavorful. She wanted 2 orders but we already ordered our favorites, Singapore noodles and Taiwanese Spicy beef noodles soup. The spicy beef noodles soup was the best one we've tasted so far and we went to many Taiwanese style restaurants for these. The soup was just right with the spices and salt, very flavorful and the beef was quality meat, extremely tender and tasty. The noodles cooked just right, not soft not hard and chewy, I was joking with Howie, they used linguine, and he ensured me it's NOT. After all these food we only had stomachs for a little taste of singapore noodles, and this one was perfectly cooked with curry. We brought this home for my daughter and she loved it so much even reheated. This will be our Chinese restaurant in Vegas regardless how we joked about the quantity of the dishes. My husband and I were looking for a place to eat for date night, and Red Plate caught our eye while we were strolling around The Cosmopolitan. The entrance itself looked really inviting, with a rich color palette of gold, deep mahogany, and red accents. The big fancy open doors basically lured us in, lol! We were promptly seated not too far from the front. I felt like we walked into a different world, sitting at our side corner table. We ordered Lobster Sui Mai and Black Truffle Xiao Lung Bao to start, both of which were delicious in their own unique ways. The Sui Mai was more of a classic traditional, perfectly balanced flavor while the Xiao Lung Bao had a nice unique twist with the sauce that came with it. For dinner, I ordered the Spicy Singapore Rice Noodle with BBQ Pork and Shrimp which was a solidly good plate and actually not spicy at all; it was more of a lightly flavored curry noodle dish. My husband ordered Beef Fried Rice with Black Truffle and Egg, which I had to steal a bite of. And it was AMAZING. I honestly liked it a lot better than my dish which was good, but not as flavorful. I also had jasmine tea with my dinner which went really well with my dish. For dessert, I had to order the matcha crepe brûlée when I heard it was on the menu. So delicious and so different in the way that you'd expect it to be! We also received a small plate of complimentary various sweet bites which were all so good (the key lime piece was my favorite!). My husband and I were just talking ten minutes ago about this place again, lol! If we could, we'd be going back again tonight, haha! We had 6 o'clock reservations on a Monday night because we were going to a show. We ended up getting there about 20 minutes early and were the only people in the restaurant for at least a half hour. I think there was only one or two other tables there by the time we left. The restaurant has a beautiful entrance and interior. Our server came by right away and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. When we said still, she asked if Fiji was fine. Obviously that's an upcharge, but she didn't mention that. She recommended the Lotus cocktail and I loved it. Great presentation! For the food, we also asked for recommendations and ordered the lobster dim sum, black truffle rice, and the filet and loved it all. Our other item was the sea bass and it was good, but our least favorite. Mario came and deboned the filet. My one recommendation on the food is to slow the courses down. We ended up with all of the food on our table at once and it was a little much. The only real criticism was that they charged $5 for each little soda! We eat out a lot in Vegas and almost every place has free refills. At a minimum, they should tell you it's a charge each time they refill the glass. Went back to my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. Not what I have experienced in the past. The food was still good but not as flavorful as in past visits. The service was what really stuck out. Not the excellent and attentive staff as before. Didn't recognize most of them. Felt very pressured to order what we're the most expensive items. Got takeout from here and confirmed I will eat inside next time I am there without dogs or am comfortable leaving the needy beings under someone else's supervision. Potstickers for the win. When on a menu you have to order and compare to every other potsticker ever had. This one is at the top of my list. It had the right thickness of dough and a size that could be cut in half or eaten in one bite. This is an often overlooked feature of a potsticker. Lobster Shu mai was the richest version I ever had. It caused my brain to simultaneously process "I want more" and " I should not have another one". The one forgettable app was the overpriced king crab spring roll. The Shanghai noodles with shrimp and pork was excellent. It had a little too much cumin(?) for my wife's taste. The Spivey tofu was pillowy and creamy and the sauce was a perfect compliment. If you are not a big fan of tofu, this might change your mind. When picking up the food we saw a whole Peking duck. Must have! Looked so crispy and tasty. Next time. read more

Upon first impressions, the decor and overall aesthetic of the restaurant is stunning. It makes you feel like you're truly in a fancy establishment. The service was really good! All the servers were extremely friendly and helped us with anything we needed! I will say that we actually accidentally stumbled upon this place (we intended to go to Scarpetta next door). But since we were already seated, we just ate here anyway. Food: I'll say this, the food is decent BUT the prices are just outrageous for what your getting. Gourmet prices with none of the taste. Worst service on the Strip. My palette has experienced 5 diamond establishments in Chicago - Spiaggia, Alinea, etc., so my idea of high end maybe stretching it for a 'hot, new' restaurant at Cosmo. We were surprised with a dinner invitation from my former comrade-in-arms, who, 26 years ago, served together in the Navy. Using the tried and true buddy system that was ingrained in our code of conduct while on liberty in Scandinavia, my former enlisted, now retired officer buddy was my partner/wingman/shipmate half of a European wrecking crew. Initially, we'd planned in grabbing a couple of slices at the hidden pizza shop on the 3rd floor, but we were running late (as usual, nod to the wife) and were redirected to Red Plate instead. Met by my buddy and his fiancée and his 19 month old princess. On a side note, this child is as precocious as she is precious. Well behaved and sweet, so atypical of a baby nearing her terrible twos. The crowd was well dressed and admittedly, I was shlepping cargo pants and a hoodie while everyone else in our dinner party was respectably dressed for the occasion. Cmon, cut me some slack - we were there for pizza and ice skating on the 4th floor. The waiter came around and asked for our drink order after delivering some hot napkins for our hands. Nice touch. My buddy ordered an appetizer of lettuce wraps or 'minced chicken in lettuce cup' for the table, but mainly for the baby. We also ordered the braised spare ribs in sweet and sour sauce, congee with preserved egg and pork (hundred or thousand year old egg, depending on the region in China), beef fried rice with black truffle and egg, and Mongolian beef in a rice noodle netting. The piece de résistance that was off menu was a massive bone in ribeye (think brontosaurus size)that was off-menu. This masterpiece was served over hot stones and topped off with a whiskey that added to the flavor. Admittedly, the whole presentation was beautiful, but the first impression was disappointing. Believe me, I was futilely searching for some redeeming qualities in flavor that matched everything else. The earlier 'dive' Chinese restaurant that received sterling reviews provided a baseline of expectation that I hoped would have been easily surpassed by Red Plate. Unfortunately, the congee was absurdly bland. The braised short ribs was average and of no outstanding quality. The Mongolian beef was nothing special and lacked even the prerequisite 'heat' that the entree should exhibit. The dishes that I enjoyed were the fried rice and the xxxxxx. They were nothing that I'd order again and were unworthy of the price that they demanded. The service was absent and inattentive. We had to ask multiple times throughout the meal for items that went ignored the first time. The only waitstaff who deserved an honorable mention was Youza, who kept our drinks and utensils full and handy. This too, didn't add up. The ambiance of the restaurant was gorgeous. The expectations of service that normally accompany such a place didn't match. Overall, the lasting effect of a restaurant that was trying too hard and ultimately missed the point. I am confused by the high ratings given by other patrons. I can only chalk it up to the 'Vegas Honeymoon', where visitors are more forgiving of the experience as they're already on a high of being in Sin City. I would not recommend Red Plate to anyone. Not when for similar cost, you'll be treated like kings and get a delicious meal from one of their neighbors on the same floor only a few feet away. read more

You know Cosmopolitan is my second home so I was shocked to learn I had completely missed the Hogwarts like train stop entry to the legendary "Red Plate" by Chef Yip Cheung. When I learned about this spot, I added it to my bucket list of Vegas must haves. Everything I read and saw online about this spot made me beyond hungry. As soon as I could lock a reservation for a family feast I made it happen. This trip out we killed the Lobster Sui Mai, Caviar Taro Puff, Black Truffle Xiao Lung Bao, BBQ Iberico Pork with Honey Glaze, Large Spotted Prawns, Braised Sparerib in Sweet and Sour Sauce, Pan Fried Chilean Sea Bass, Spicy Rice Noodle with BBQ Pork and Shrimp, a Whole Peking Duck, and finally the Bird's Nest Egg Tart for dessert. Trust me when I say that duck was so good, like carnivorous dinosaurs we could have eaten an entire flock of them. ( Pro-Tip: you have to pre-order the duck or they may not have it when your party arrives ) Make sure everyone gets one of those truffle puffs too, they are to die for. The staff is super helpful when designing your feast, and I can't wait to go back to try the Whole Suckling Pig and the Stir Fried Lobster with Lemongrass and Thai Sauce. If you have a hard time finding this amazing spot, it's in between Beauty and Essex and Scarpetta. P.S. If you have a little one that needs a high chair, this is one of the few on the entire strip that has one. They look super cool too. Waiters/ tried to force/talk you into ordering more and to spend more than you can eat. If you order lobsters, which they charge per pound, they will tell you that a lobster weighs approximately 2 lbs but you will get a bill of 2.9 lbs. They continually ask different waiter to come and rush you to order. If you discuss a dish with one waiter but have not yet commit to ordering it yet and order another dish from the manager, they will bring and charge you for both. read more

Dining here almost ruined everyone's holiday spirit. The restaurant is not transparent about pricing and as many others said, uses a very aggressive sales strategy to pressure customers to order. We were "strongly recommended" to preorder so we put in an order for a soup and some Pecking ducks a few days before our reservation. When we got to the restaurant, they told us the soup was $688 (after tax and tip it came out to almost $900) and the size was smaller than a ramen bowl!! We politely asked to not get the soup because we were not expecting to pay so much for a small bowl of soup, and they told us we must order it because we preordered. How on earth can you forget to tell us that a tiny soup would cost $900? Even 3-star Michelin restaurants don't have the arrogance of assuming that their customers can casually spend $900 on a soup. Moving on to the pecking ducks, even though we paid for 3 ducks, they would not serve us the whole duck but only the meat wrapped in pancakes prepared by the staff. We asked if we could have the skin and whatever was left of ducks, and they said we needed to pay extra for those. We get Pecking ducks all the time and this was the first time we were told to pay extra for a duck that we already bought !! We also got tricked into ordering $1,050 cods. We preordered 1 cod, which was $108 per pound. When we got to the restaurant, no one told us how big the cod would be. It turned out to be over 3 pounds, which we would never know especially because what we got served seemed so little. But that was not the worst part. The wait staff casually mentioned to one person of our group in private that we should get 3 cods but did not mention the price and weight of each fish to her, so we ended up getting charged for over $1000 for fish alone! The water they served was another horrific experience. We opted for the "regular" water (the other option was sparkling water) and they started pouring us $11 Fiji water without bringing it up. From that point on, they just kept opening new bottles of Fiji water and pouring whenever they got a chance. We ended up spending $154 on water alone. I would like to point out that, even if customers choose to pay for some fancy water, the restaurant must ask if they want another bottle when the current one is finished. No restaurant can keep a running tab on the customers without asking !! Finally, all this urgency of preordering and rushing us to order the minute the first person of our group arrived at the restaurant was somewhat made up. The restaurant was half empty throughout our dining time. To Cosmopolitan: we went to the front desk hoping to get some help the next day. The staff member we worked with was very friendly and showed his sympathy. We could see that he really wanted to do something for us but unfortunately it was not within his power. We have gold status at Cosmopolitan and will try to get Platinum status soon. This is a hotel we genuinely enjoy staying at and the service overall is excellent. We are simply appalled that this restaurant operates in such a different manner than the high standards we have observed from Cosmopolitan. I hope Cosmopolitan can take some actions before it harms the hotel's reputation in a more substantial way. read more

An awesome experience! We made reservations for a group of 5 on a Saturday night. I'd recommend making a reservation as the restaurant itself has limited capacity. I had the Golden Lotus cocktail and it was delightful! It's a gin-based yuzu drink with jasmine tea. The cocktail comes deconstructed, the gin/yuzu in a small carafe and the tea is served in a small glass tea pot. It was fun mixing the drink to my own taste and I refilled my cocktail glass 2-3 times (quite the bang for your buck with this cocktail)! We ordered the xiao long bao which was pretty good! The broth was really robust and flavorful. We also had the Peking duck to share and I'm glad there were 5 of us! The whole duck comes steaming straight out of the kitchen and is carved tableside. The servers then wrap pieces of duck into a set of small "tacos" using thin flour pancakes, fresh sprouts, and a yummy savory sauce (like hoisin sauce). After assembling a few for you, they'll leave the assortment of ingredients at the table for you to DIY. Then they take the rest of the duck back to the kitchen to make a fried rice or noodle dish for your table to share (we chose the fried rice). It was really fun watching them carve the duck right in front of your table and a wonderful interactive experience to craft your own little duck wraps. The fried rice was also delicious and definitely enough to share with a group. All of the servers were very friendly and attentive. Just in case any guests were unfamiliar with the custom/tradition of the food, the servers took time to explain the best way to enjoy each dish. Although it may be considered a bit pricey, you're truly paying for the experience. I think that's the perspective you should have if you're planning on dining here. The food was good, but it's the exceptional service, interactive presentation, and attention to details that make Red Plate unique and worth trying! read more

The only pity is they gave very little quantity, assuming we have 10 people a table, it will not be enough for everyone to have more than one piece. We had a very friendly and extremely knowledgeable server named Ethan and got the recommended Surf and Turf dinner. I have never had live steamed Alaskan King Crab. We came here for my mom's birthday dinner. We ordered: black truffle XLBs, abalone tart, the BBQ iberico pork, scallops, and clay pot rice. My favorites were the BBQ pork and XLBs. They gave a generous serving size for the bbq pork. The amount of truffle you taste for the XLBs was also just right. Of all the items, the clay pot rice was definitely not worth it. It's $88 and takes 2 hours to prep. You need to call ahead and let them know if you plan to order it. The clay pot rice was nothing special and for people who have not had this before may have different expectations. Service: I'd give the service 4 stars. They would hustle when necessary. Offered change of plates when needed. Also gave my mom a free birthday dessert. Ambiance: very small restaurant, doesn't feel as elegant as the other restaurants at the Cosmo. Had dinner here last night and it was delicious. We made reservations in advance on open table and were seated immediately after check in. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and elegant. I liked that the tables weren't cramped together and it was a quiet ambience. There were 6 of us so we ordered a selection of goods to try. Drinks for the table: Pellegrino for 6, oolong tea service for 6, and I got the moonlight cocktail. The drink service was great, not once was our water or tea was empty, the service was attentive and on point. The cocktail was also pretty good, I liked the dragonfruit garnish. Food: 2 orders lobster shu mai- we didn't care for this one, it didn't taste like lobster. They tasted like regular shrimp shu mai. 2 orders truffle xiao long bao- this one was a hit at the table, it was pretty good. They pair this with red vinegar and ginger. They also handed the table spoons to eat this one. Caviar taro puff- it was so good! If you like taro this is a must try! I love how the caviar paired with this dish Okra with minced pork- this was also really good, the sauce and pork really cooked well with the okra as it soaked a lot of flavor. Peking duck- we got a huge duck and it was carved table side and they paired it with sprouts and hoisin sauce. They used warmed pancake/tortilla, the duck was cooked well and tasted great. Wish they had bao instead because a few of our tortillas were hard. With the Peking duck we chose the fried rice option and it was also made very well. Salt and Pepper lobster- this one was the favorite of the table. We got a 2.5 lb lobster and it was cooked perfectly. The flavors were delicious and the server even helped removing the shell for some of them. This is a must order!! Chilean sea bass- This is another must order, the fish was also deboned by server. The flavors and the crunch was delicious. The fish had such good texture. I love Chilean sea bass and they made it so good. We all loved this one. Taiwanese beef noddle soup- this was also good, the broth was nice and spicy and flavored very well. The beef really captured the flavors of the broth. Filet mignon with mushroom- this is also amazing! This is another must order, the filet was so tender it literally melts in your mouth. The quality of the filet was good and the mushrooms were also the perfect pairing. Please order this, it really is delicious. Desserts: 3 order of Oolong creme brûlée- this was a very rich dessert. It had a lot of oolong flavor and was a lot. I ate a couple bites of this and got very full. 2 orders of the black sesame mocha- each order comes with 3 they are on top of a bed of peanuts. The server showed us to roll it around and eat it, it was very good. It was also served with ginger sweet tea which was also delicious. Mango mouse cake- this is good for the mango lovers. This has a black sesame base and it was so good. The mango was nice and sweet and not too overbearing. Overall this restaurant was really good and the service was also great. Small restaurant comparatively, and there are a few seats that potentially share a bench with other dining parties, and they are too close for a restaurant like this. However, the short rib special took us all by surprise. They only have five of them a night and they are well worth it, don't pass it up if you have the option. It had flavors I've never had before. It's cooked over rocks and drizzled in cognac. Every other thing we got was also excellent. Service started a little meh, but progressively got better and better. Rep Plate was great for my 50th birthday. The menu can be overwhelming so we asked our waiter and he really broke it down for us. We wanted authentic dishes, not kung pao chicken. We ended up with a plethora, started with the chef trio app, get it 3 diff dishes (2 of them were vegetarian), plus tofu starter (girlfriend), and lobster dim sum. For meals I got a fish special, Turbot steamed, it was so moist and delish, see pic, snow peas shoots/leaves, and stir fried broccoli. Beautiful decor. Food was good but not worth the money. Spent over $200 for dinner. Ordered the lobster Shu Mai appetizer (4 pieces), crab spring rolls (only 2 pieces), an order of vegetable fried rice (which had absolutely no flavor), 4 pieces of whole prawns ($16 for each prawn), and an order of stir fried filet mignon with mushrooms. Also order 1 signature cocktail ($16) & 1 large bottle of Pellegrino ($8). Nothing to write home about; maybe we ordered the wrong items. The prawns were yummy with a delicious soy based marinade. I would have been just as happy with the dim sum place just a few doors down for 1/2 the price. Maybe better to go here with a large group as there was only 2 of us. read more

OUTSTANDING. Service plays with you if you like to play; friendly and courteous. Unpretentious but high class. Allows casual dress but wouldn't recommend for you become a part of the ambiance and it is gorgeous. Low light, crisp, but warm and modern room. Geometric asian design. And the food? We had the Mongolian Beef, Spicy Singapore Noodle, Xiao Long Bao, golden lotus cocktail, and Japanese whiskey (forgot the name). Excellent level of spice. Beef well made and tasted just like Mongols. Kidding kidding. It tasted exactly how I expect Mongolian Beef to taste. Spicy noodle was spicy enough to dry out the noodle but it was very good. A great "sticky" noodle for people who like spice. The shrimp in the dish were perfectly cooked. They popped in your mouth! Our server Howie was amazing and gracious. But everyone there was great. It isn't the price if Jasmine so you'll do good coming here. For two people we ended up paying $160. That's amazing for how classy it is. 好吃 Impressive. Vegas' fourth Strip based, high end, contemporary Chinese restaurant wows with flair and flavor (but it doesn't topple my favorite). Flavors span China. From a re-imagined impossibly light taro puff dim sum topped with osetra caviar to roasted suckling pig with its ethereal delicate crispy skin and juicy, porky flesh, to impossibly tender, uber flavorful whole braised abalone in a rich, velvety umami supercharged sauce. Outstanding. Less expensive for luxury dishes than its competition, but NOT cheap. Expect to pay in excess of $100pp for food alone. IMPORTANT: Do NOT order your neighborhood Chinese favorites, ie Mongolian beef. No matter how good, you will walk away knowing you spent 400% more than at home. TIP: Suckling pig and Peking duck must be ordered at the time of your reservation. Do get the taro puff with caviar ($19.88), suckling pig ($288.88), and the abalone ($298) already mentioned. None will disappoint. Adding to the meal, the Peking duck ($118.88) is well made. Skin properly separated from the duck, reasonably crisp. The meat, well seasoned, well roasted. Juicy and flavorful. Good house made hoisin sauce brings it all together. Finally the spot prawn requested wok fried ($16ea), good eats. Cooked from live, served shell on. Firm, sweet flesh with concentrated oceanic flavors in the creamy head fat. Eat the shell and all for the "shrimp chip" experience. I only wish they had their egg clutch. More live seafood on offer sold by the pound. Unfortunately a lack of stomach real estate would not permit more. Very good, efficient Asian service. Well chosen wine list with selections that pair well with the bolder flavors of Chinese food. High Vegas resort markup. Definitely worthy of a visit but if you're ballin' out of control, not my top pick in the City. read more

The food was good, but the service was terrible. We just had two people, and we already ordered the clay pot rice which is supposed to serve 2-4 people. When we have the menu, the waiter kept recommending the expensive seafood. This is ok since I know the more expensive food we order, the more tips he will get. But since we only had two people, we didn't order any seafood. However when the rice is being served, the waiter kept saying it will be good to order fish and goes well with the rice, and this made me uncomfortable since we already decided not to order the seafood (it turned out to be a good decision since we couldn't even finish the rice due to the large portion) Another thing I am upset is we ordered a bottle of water in the beginning, and we just finished it when we finished our meal. However the waiter just opened another one without asking whether we want another bottle, and charged us twice. I know you want to make more money, but this feels like making ordering without customers permission and I am not happy with it. The food was good and also was the atmosphere, but the service was really bad and need to improve. read more
