Headed downtown to find a spot to eat. We stopped here because on my last trip I town we ate at their sister restaurant (Red Cow) and were thoroughly impressed. The trip to this one sold me once again. These 2 are must-stops! Red Rabbit is an Italian focused restaurant. I ordered the Cavetelli. Homemade crumbles sausage, clearly homemade pasta. Pure deliciousness. Seriously, I cannot over state this.....I often hope for a dish that explodes with flavor. This did this and more. The dis was not overly proportioned (which is probably good, b/c I would have eaten every but if it that was put in front of me). My co-worker played it safe and ordered the Chicken Parmesan; he indicated it was top notch as well. The environment was a bit loud at the dinner hour, & of course they were busy.....but overall the dining experience was excellent. Let's just say I'll be back next time I'm in Minneapolis. Didn't get a chance to ask but where'd the name come from? My roommate told me this was a must try. We shared the Banana Belgium Waffle and the Spicy Salami pizza - sounds like a weird combo, but it was like having breakfast first and then lunch! The waffle was delicious - but not too sweet. It was very crispy on the sides but soft are you made your way towards the center. Would absolutely recommend for breakfast or lunch. The Spicy Salami pizza was mouth watering. The ricotta balanced out with the salami perfectly. The crust was a bit too burnt for me, where it was just completely charred and I ended up peeling parts off because I didn't want to eat them. I also tried the ginger beer which was excellent! The smell is extremely potent and made me not want to get it at first, but I tried a sip and it was just the right level of ginger! Random thought - the lights here are sooo cute! Also they had a live guitarist by the host stand and the music was played out through the speakers - if I hadn't noticed him when I walked in, I wouldn't even have known it was live. The Italian Grinder was an amazing sandwich and has reignited my love for salami and pepperoni sandwiches. It was juicy, the sauce was tasty, bread crispy as hell, and I enjoyed the chips served with it while I munched along the sandwich. I also had a slice of a Margherita pizza, and I'm not the biggest fan, but it was fine. The Sticky Toffee Cake was also delicious and not overly sweet (if eaten with other people). Finally had the opportunity to check out this place after hearing about it for years. It's a cute little spot in North Loop of Minneapolis that was adorably decorated for the holidays. We started with the burrata which was amazing and I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup which was also phenomenal. The grilled cheese had sweet corn in it which was super unique. Reasonably priced, high quality food for downtown. The pizza and pastas also looked wonderful. Had great service and were easily able to split checks between a large group. I could not tell you why this place has such excellent reviews. But a caveat, we ordered takeout. My general rule is that Italian food is a disappointment in 90% of Italian restaurants. This place is worse than your local Olive Garden. I chose to get a house salad bc I thought "how can you mess up lettuce?" Well let me tell you, you can! The dressing was mostly oil. The flavors blended poorly (Parmesan was a horrible addition. Should have done mozzarella only). The random addition of herbs was a weird touch. I let my dad try a bite and even he said "yeah that's a one bite and never again." I ate it because I was hungry, and that's how I'd summarize the rest of the meals. I tried part of my dad's Italian grinder. It was so oily that the bottom bun was basically paste. I tried my fiancés spaghetti and meatballs. He thought the noodles were cooked properly and the meatballs were okay. But the sauce was pathetically boring. The store brand pasta sauce at my Harris Teeter is more exciting. I tried a bite of my nephews pepperoni pizza--way too salty. Like dominoes but without the garlic oil they pour on the crust (I've had to order way too many pizzas from there for clubs). My sister, the person who was most excited to eat here, didn't even finish her cacio e Pepe. When I asked if it was okay she said "I mean. A different sauce would have been better. Maybe the garlic bread dipping sauce." I didn't try the garlic bread or the bolognese, but the bolognese also went half eaten. So for the life of me, I couldn't explain how this place has 4.5 stars unless everyone is eating here after not eating solid food in a month. Do yourself a favor: keep scrolling. read more

Oh my gosh, what a charming place with charming staff and absolutely delicious pasta. The thickness and doneness of the noodles themselves were perfection. Such a cozy spot, too, with lovely decor and USB ports right under the bar. Wish I could've stayed longer and sat back with a glass of wine, but this was a stop on the way to the airport. This place is one of my favorites in the Twin Cities for many reasons! It is located in North Loop, which is an area friendly for weekend night gatherings. It serves excellent Italian food while not charging exuberant prices. It has a virtual waitlist that allows you to know how close you are in getting seated. It has great decor containing some images of iconic figures like Prince, Muhammad Ali, etc.. Although I would recommend changing the Michael Jackson American Gothic picture as back in the days it sparked controversies regarding the racist "monkey" word above Michael's head. In terms of food, first of all, out of all things, the sticky toffee cake is a MUST HAVE. I can safely say it is one of the best dessert items I have had anywhere in Minnesota! I have been to Red Rabbit a few times, and I get the dessert every time. I also recommend the garlic bread cheese curds as a good appetizer. For pasta, despite cavatelli being a popular item, I personally think other pastas are just as good! Definitely not saying that cavatelli is not good, but I am recommending everyone branching out to try other pastas, too! The shrimp garganelli, the mostaccioli, the impossible bolognese, and so on, are all just delicious. Even the pasta itself tastes very appetizing, let alone the sauce, the meat, and the cheese. Prepare yourself for a carb meal! Going back to desserts, I will also recommend the chocolate budino. As for the beignets, they taste good, but you will have to purposefully not expect southern style beignets to enjoy them, so that expectation does not clash with reality. There is nothing southern about merlot glaze that comes with the beignets, so just treat them as a separate individual entity to enjoy them! Next time I visit here, I have to try their pizza! Nowadays I just do not eat a lot of pizza due to diet, but the next time I do, I will make sure I give this place a shot! read more

The "Wood Grilled Oysters" ($16.75) with fresh herbs, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and Parmesan were delicious. The grilled flavor was prominent. However, I felt disappointed and ripped off, because 2 out of the 6 oysters were so small that you can't even see it was there in comparison to the standard size (see picture below). It happened to another person in my table as well. It was missing ~33% of the entire appetizer per order. If there isn't enough oysters available for a full order, it is not right to serve customers scraps. If you order the "Chicken Parmesan" ($18.50), it comes with two chicken pieces and could potentially be split and filled up two people, if they also eat an appetizer. read more

I went to Red Rabbit last night with some co-workers and we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely. I would highly recommend Red Rabbit to anyone in the Minneapolis area looking for some great food that is very reasonably priced with a great atmosphere. It would be a lovely date spot as well. When we were seated we were greeted by our wonderful waiter, Ian. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. And very helpful when we were choosing what to order. I would highly recommend to have Ian as your server, especially if it's your first time at Red Rabbit. We started off with some drinks which in my opinion were not to my liking. I also am not a fan of super strong drinks which the Mi-Thai was super strong. The cup was so cute and had a little tiki man on it but the taste was just not there for me. My co-workers had also said that their drinks were too strong but that is the only negative piece of Red Rabbit in my opinion. The food was fabulous! Everything we ordered came out hot, was wonderfully presented and tasted delicious. We started out with the arancini which were like little rice balls. It came with four and they were wonderful. Full of flavor and cane out hot! Highly recommend for an appetizer. My one co-worker and I decided to split a Cesar salad with chicken and one of the restaurants more popular dishes called the shrimp garganelli. We enjoyed both of them and ate every bit of it! My two other co-workers ordered the bolognese pappardelle and the gnocchi. They both really enjoyed theirs as well. The portions were a bit small but I would recommend sharing two entrees because everything was delicious! We got the vegan bolognese ($14.50) which is made with Impossible meat and an in-house vegan cheese; it was tasty and interesting, though had a hard-to-pinpoint salty undertone I didn't love (but didn't hate, either). The vegan pizza with housemade cashew cheese and Impossible sausage ($16) was really fabulous with an excellent, wood-fired crust and high quality ingredients. Pro-tip: get the chili agave sauce on the side. It came that way for my takeout order, but had it been drizzled on, it would have ruined the pizza with unwanted sweetness. Nearly 600 reviews and a near perfect five stars usually means you're going to be in for a good experience. In the case of Red Rabbit the hype is well deserved. To begin with the space is enchanting. It's an older building that's been refurbished and re-purposed as a restaurant. The tall ceilings and older windows give the restaurant a certain character that you wouldn't have in a newer constructed building. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart. We were so intrigued at how she seemed both nervous, but also confidence in her jokes throughout our stay. She made us feel welcome from the moment she said hello. The food was magnificent. I had a cup of their vegetable soup, and finished with chicken Parmesan. Both were expertly prepared and flavorful. There were so many items on the menu that looked interesting. We sat in a booth across from what appeared to be an original brick wall from the old building. The bar on the other side of the wall had plenty of space to grab a drink or enjoy a meal. This is the kind of place that makes me love Yelpers. Took my oldest son and his girlfriend here last night. It was the first time meeting her and this was a perfect place. She is a finicky eater and we were originally going to go for Ethiopian food. I'm not as adventurous as some, but I am always up to expand my palate. Life's too short for burgers and fries at every meal. I figured the girlfriend would be nervous enough to meet Dad, so let's go somewhere that she didn't have to stress out about the food too. This was my second time at Red Rabbit and I can tell you it was 100% more pleasing than the first. The first visit I had the breakfast pizza, which is actually amazing - rich with an egg and potatoes in it but if you want the full Italian taste of this place you have to go traditional like the second time around when we visited. We had just finished a 3 hour walk and hadn't eaten much all day so we were ready to carb load. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, margarita pizza, and the pappardelle. How amazing!!! All of it, amazing! Margarita pizza honestly was one of the best I've had since we visited Italy a few years ago. The sauce is perfect and the burrata with basil gives it the perfect taste + it's from the wood oven which makes everything right in the world. The spaghetti and meatballs makes you feel at home. Not a ton of flavoring in the sauce but the meatballs alone are filling and flavorful. The pappardelle has amazing sauce and so many flavors to go along with the fresh home cooked noodles. It's a heady dish and you won't leave unsatisfied. If we didn't have pizza crust I would recommend ordering some bread as a side to soak up leftover sauces on the pasta dishes. This was one of the best Manhattan's I have had the pleasure of experiencing! We started off with the Wood Grilled Oysters. They were awesome. Lots of flavor packed into them, almost like you get with Chargrilled in New Orleans... but more Italian forward than Cajun. We then went with the Fettucine Alfredo with a Shrimp. It was good, but not as rich as I'd like in an Alfredo sauce. The shrimp were large, but the dish itself was a little on the small side. I'd rate it a 3/5. Two additional standouts were the meatball (awesome flavor) and the New World Margherita Pizza. It was packed with Burrata, more cheese than I've ever seen on a Margherita.
