The food was good, though I feel they went a little heavy with the basil on the lasagna. Both of us enjoyed our food. I like that they keep the wine all separate at the right temp for the type. And that they have large red wine glasses as well as a decent tap list. Tip we went at 1:40 on a Saturday and they served brunch menu only till 2. Luckily they do have some lunch items on that menu. Will definitely be going back! Went for brunch for the first time this past week. The staff were attentive, the ambience was great and to top it off, some of the best food I've ever had! We started with the beignets as a spur of the moment decision, and boy did they not disappoint! Don't leave without having these. We Might even come back for these alone Then we ordered our entrees. I chose the breakfast pizza ( normally not a lunch for breakfast gal but this caught my eye) and my husband had the Cavatelli Pasta after a recommendation from our waiter. Was visiting friends when we went here - reservations are a must. My group started with delicate, clean (no grit) oysters. Each of us ordered a different pasta dish so I got to taste deliciousness all around! Pasta was perfectly firm and the sauces were rich and flavorful. My wine was recommended by our server and it was just right. The restaurant seating is comfortable and spaced well beyond hearing others' conversations. The location of Red Rabbit is in north loop where there is plenty of street parking available, so that was really nice. I went here after work on a Monday (no wait for a table!) with a friend because this is her go to place for pizza in north loop. I got the chopped pizza, which is essentially a chopped salad on a pizza. I was pretty disappointed with it. The pizza was very greasy and on the salty side. A puddle of oil was also waiting for me underneath the pizza. It might just be the chopped pizza, but my first visit to Red Rabbit was not so great. My husband and I came the other night to celebrate our anniversary and we had a wonderful time! Let's start with service! Huge call out to Jolynn our server, they were so kind and helpful and really added a lot to our experience. Honestly every staff member we interacted with was both professional and fun. It was a busy Saturday night but we never felt neglected. Now to the food and drinks! It was an extremely hot evening and I ordered the Frosé (several times over), it was so refreshing and had a great sweet sour balance. For appetizers we were lucky enough to come at the start of oyster season and had several options to choose from. I got the Katama Bay oysters and they were fantastic. Slightly sweet with a nice brine. We also got the garlic bread cheese curds and they were delicious and well seasoned. For entrees we got the New World Margherita pizza and Meatball Hoagie respectively. We jumped in too quickly to get pictures but we both were very happy and both had enough for leftovers. We also got the Chocolate Mousse Torte to split and it was so rich and creamy. It's also gluten free which which is nice. My boyfriend and I came here to enjoy some of our favorites: Burrata: One of the best appetizers on this menu. Comes with a creamy ball of burrata cheese, broccoli pesto, tomatoes, and micro greens to put atop crostinis. Superrrrr good. Very bright, lovable flavors. Wood-grilled wings: Some of the best seasoned and juciest wings I've had in a long time. The char on these is great, and the creamy parm dip on the side has me asking for a to-go box. For just the sauce. Orecchiette: A decent pasta feature with delicate flavors including peas, prosciutto, baby spinach, and small noodles. It was too boozy for me, so my husband drank it and I got the Dark But Safe. It was really good! Made with amaro montenegro, goslings black seal and their house ginger beer. The food: We made it just in time to order their happy hour house oysters for $2 each. Last week we had just had oysters in Boston, and the oysters at Red Rabbit tasted just as fresh & delicious! Next we had some bruschetta. It had thin slices of bresaola, arugula tossed with a lemon vinaigrette and topped with large pieces of shaved parmesan. It was delicious and came with 2 large pieces. Perfect for sharing. We decided to share a pizza and a pasta. We got the old world Margherita pizza. It was awesome. The sauce had a little kick to it, the mozzarella was creamy and there were massive leaves of basil on top which was so fresh and all came together perfectly. The crust was crispy and a little chewy. Just as it should be. We got the bolognese pappardelle. This was my FAVORITE thing I ate at Red Rabbit. The noodles were thick and fresh. And the house bolognese sauce was ridiculously good. Okay, Red Rabbit, now I see you. After my mediocre first visit, I was invited back, which that in itself was a wow factor. They care enough about making a good impression that they reached out. It took me a bit to return, but I came on a date night with my husband. I joined the waitlist on yelp, good thing cause walking in at dinner time on a Friday night is a hangry persons worst nightmare. It was so crowded, everyone in the waiting area was ass to ass, belly button to belly button. So, yeah, join the waitlist or you'll be waiting for an hour. We grabbed a drink at the bar, the Japanese cocktail might be one of my new favorite drinks. I had the old fashion later and that too was made well. For food we tried the ricotta orange-garlic bruschetta, beef tartare, gnocchi special with rabbit, and spicy salami pizza. The bruschetta was excellent, maybe my favorite of the night, nicely charred flavor, creamy with chunks of garlic, and a light orange finish. Beef tartare had an arugula topping, which made it quite bitter. Spooned on top of the perfect house chips curbed the bitter notes, but more citrus would have been better. Not the best tartare I've had, but I didn't hate it. I really enjoyed the gnocchi, I found it so comforting. My husband, on the other hand, didn't love it as much. It reminded us of chicken noodle soup, but elevated. The gnocchi was perfect, soft, buttery, and "light." I'd order this again and again on a chilly night, and I'd be happy not to share with the husband. I ordered the spicy salami the first time around too and thought it lacked flavor, not this time. I definitely knew the honey chili was there. The crust was crisp and chewy. Super yummy. Overall, the parking still sucked, but the food was awesome, and the service was even better. It was a very pleasant experience except our waiter was eager to go home and was very impatient that we stayed long (not past the closing long, just during the normal business hours). 1. Good food/drinks Cheese board wasn't impressive. Roasted cauliflower: was so huge in portion. It is the entire full cauliflower in its full glory, I was shocked to see it. A bit of a work to cut and eat it, but tastes amazing. It needs to be shared, I dare you eat the whole thing alone. Old fashioned was actually surprisingly good. They have full bar, so you can get most drinks you'd like here. 2. Service Somehow from the get-go, our server was so rushed and obviously needed to get off work early that day. It made our experience very uncomfortable. The food was good, place was good, great weather for patio and company was good, but when the server gets agitated more we order was very weird to say the least. Constantly moving and cleaning the table that is already clean next to ours was like a sign to tell us to get the f*** off. At the end, we couldn't take it anymore and moved to the bar inside. The other waiter was perfectly fine and there were many patrons on his side of the patio still left. Bartender inside was super nice. 3. Atmosphere It is a straight up normal bar look inside and very comfortable and cozy patio outside. highly recommend to sit outside. Food: We are lovers of the St Paul Red Rabbit and finally gave Minneapolis a try before a show this evening. The spicy salami pizza was a little weaker than St Paul with a less generous helping of cheese on the top as we've had in the past. But the main courses were excellent; the salmon was delicious and juicy and I love the grain salad it's paired with. My boyfriend likes the Shrimp Garganelli with their house sausage added. It's an explosion of flavor. Those are our three favorites, and 100% worth trying out. Venue: A very small parking lot, plan for street parking. They have a small patio area. Red Rabbit downtown Minneapolis pleasantly surprised me. I've been to the St Paul location many times but I actually prefer Minneapolis now! I went on a Saturday night at 7 pm without a reservation and waited about 45 minutes. Grabbed a drink at the bar and the wait flew by. Love the big booths! Feels very private. The pasta gives vibes that it's made in house (can't confirm if thats true but idgaf if its true or not it taste like they are and thats good enough for me)! I always get the Cavatelli, in the picture below I have a little leftover burrata on it. Other hits; Shrimp Garganelli, fettuccine Alfredo (trust), and the Bolognese. Honestly, I'm giving RR 5 stars simply because delivery is so freakin' fast. We live in south Minneapolis (almost Richfield) and the food from the North Loop location gets here faster than joints in our neck of the woods. Since I'm a simple guy, my go-to's are pepperoni pizza, wings with this amazing Parmesan dipping sauce (great also for the pizza crust), and Italian chopped salad. My wife and I were in town for her birthday and we stopped by Red Rabbit based on a recommendation from some friends. And let me tell you, sublime. After not being able to figure how to work the online reservations we arrived to Red Rabbit and encountered a packed house. The hostess said it would be an hour long wait, but it only turned out to be 20 minutes. Plus, they send you a text when your table is ready so you can mill about the neighborhood while you wait. It was a win win situation. The atmosphere was awesome. You can go for a friends' night out, a date night, a family function, or anything you desire. It's a bit loud, so just be aware that you may have to project a bit. Our waiter, Jared, was phenomenal. He was very kind, attentive, and had good recommendations. Top 10 waiter I've ever had. Per his recommendation we ordered the pizza rolls as an appetizer because they were out of the burrata. The pizza rolls were not as you'd expect. They were a sort of pepperoni roll up with cheese on top served in a cast iron skillet, with the sauce on the far. Far exceeding expectations. Definitely recommend. My wife ordered the Italian sausage cavatelli, some reviews said it lacked flavor, but we disagreed and loved the spicy sausage. Note: they go heavy on the olive oil, but it's still great. I ordered the chicken parmesan with pasta on the side. Oh my. So good and so plentiful. They give you two chicken breasts and I was only able to finish one of them! Great place for delicious food and a nice date! Walked right in on a weeknight without a reservation, seated in a cozy corner. We started with the garlic bread cheese curds which were nicely crunchy on the outside with a gooey cheesy inside, probably could have used a bit more garlic. We tried the spicy salami pizza which had great flavor (wasn't actually very spicy) and the cavatelli with really delicious sausage in it that had a nice fennel flavor. There is lots to like about this place. The bar has a great comfy vibe and the selection of wine and cocktails is really great. We stopped in early on a perfect-weather Thursday hoping to score a table on the nice patio. We ended up waiting about 45 min which was totally fine-we sat at the bar, had some of the sweet and savory bar nuts an a couple of cocktails and easily passed the time. The patio has only a few tables (which are all under the control of the hostess) but also some open seating at some comfy couches that are first come first serve. The patio was about half shaded at 6:30 but their were large umbrellas to help out the other tables. Service was super friendly and the food (mostly pastas and pizzas very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the Gemelli (cream based pasta with ham, sun dried tomatoes and peas), my wife raves about the spicy sausage in the cavatelli while her mom enjoyed a glutten free option. We could all use a little comfort food right about now. Thankfully, Red Rabbit is here to feed to masses (literally, they offer an expansive take and bake menu to feed hungry families of 4-6). Living nearby, I had probably walked by a hundred times before biting the bullet and giving it a try. This is not because I didn't want to - in fact that couldn't be further from the truth. I had browsed their menu over-and-over, each time becoming a little more indecisive on what I wanted in the moment. During a recent rainy weekend, I walked over after placing an online pickup order for two. Known for their savory pizzas and pastas, I opted for the meat-free Impossible Bolognese and Spicy Salami pizza. I've been in a real cauliflower kick recently so I threw in an order of the Roasted Cauliflower as well. SERVICE: Service was friendly, prompt and used great social distancing practices (pickup is through a back patio window). Several parties were ahead of me but my order arrived right on time. They have dedicated parking right by the restaurant, which is a plus, but it's also very walkable and bike-friendly from elsewhere in the North Loop, Downtown East/Mill District, Northeast and downtown. FOOD: The restaurant champions it's dedication to using local and fresh ingredients and it delivers. I've never ordered an Impossible Bolognese and haven't eaten red meat in over 15 years, but it tasted just as rich, hearty and satisfying as I can remember of a traditional order. The Roasted Cauliflower is a giant half head covered in delicious pistachio mousse, olive oil, rosemary and tumeric. I was told the Spicy Salami was full of flavor, from the large salami cuts and heaping helpings of ricotta, to the warm crust. The spicy honey on top delivers a nice kick. VALUE: Red Rabbit can be a budget-friendly option for singles and families, depending on how they order. Traditional pies and pasta are very affordable and deliver on large servings ($13-$17). More unique dishes like the cauliflower, and cocktail kits can be quite spendy. Add in gluten-free crust and meat, and prices can balloon closer to $25. But make no mistake, this is destination that has helped put its North Loop neighborhood on the map, so I'm fine with paying extra to support a local biz that gives back and brings customers to the area. I cannot believe that I haven't been to Red Rabbit yet until today. Where have I been going all these years? From the moment we walked in I could tell I was going to really like this place. Their ambiance is set right away with dark lighting, comfortable seating, and melancholic decor that really works well together. You could come here for a date or for a casual dinner with friends. We were seated then greeted by the friendliest waiter I've had in a long time. He was energetic, open to questions, and super knowledgeable of the food, favors, drinks, just everything on the menu. When we asked questions, he was patient and didn't seem annoyed or impatient like some wait staff are when you ask questions. The service along already spoke for itself. He asked us if we wanted sparkling or still water and convinced us to do sparkling with a real lemon and lime added, super nice touch. Onto the food. Their menu is separated into starters, salads, oysters, pasta, pizza, desserts, etc. Easy to read and follow. We decided to go with the shrimp garganelli pasta and the Yukon gold pizza. To start, we did the pasta croquettes. The croquettes were so unique and flavorful. It was a pesto pasta in a deep fried ball form with delicious red sauce around it. You get 3 per order and they were worth a try. The shrimp garganelli was amazing. Honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while (I've been to Italy so I have high pasta AND pizza standards). Pizza was also amazing...I moved the pancetta to my friend's pieces since I don't eat meat but even without it, it was bursting with the most interesting combo of flavors. I would order that again for sure. Woodfired pizza is the way to go and Red Rabbit does it right. Overall, I'm 100% coming back here when I want some good pizza and good pasta.
