I called Red Ribbon five times one right after the other to place an order for pick up. No answer. I walk in and of course it's not busy. Sidenote, I've called plenty of times before to place an order so this should have been the first sign it wasn't gonna be a happy trip. When I got there, and I ordered the palabok party trays and asked for the eggs on the side, I was met with a dumbfounded look and response. The cashier said to me that the eggs were in the middle. No, cashier, that's not what I asked for. I need the eggs not on top the palabok and in a separate container. In how many ways do I need to describe to you the way in which I want my palabok tray given to me. On top of that, I could heard the kitchen workers teasing both the cashier and indirectly me because of the way in which I presented my request. Was craving halo halo and wanted to go to jollibee but they were closed so I came here instead and hands down I like their halo halo better, it's not super sweet, it's perfectly sweet, they use banana ice cream instead of Ube ice cream! Loved it!! read more

I'm glad to find one at SoCal! They serve cakes that are very light, airy, not super sweet - just right, and with varieties of flavors too. So far, my fave cakes are: - Ube Macapuno cake (purple yam + coconut) - Mango cake - Brazo de Mercedes (it's like super foamy egg white cake with sweet custard) Other pastries I recommend: - Sansrival (I only buy it in slices since I get tired of it when I buy the whole box - sugar overload!) - Mamon I haven't tried their savory options yet. But I want to try the empanadas next time :) About the place, it's located in a Filipino Plaza, besides the Seafood City Supermarket and Jollibee. The place is clean, staff are helpful, and they also do special orders for cakes (birthdays, anniversaries, etc). Minus one star, because sometimes, they can be repetitive on selections. They have several ready-made dishes to order from a display counter (sort of like chinese food). The food tastes great! The bread is made fresh. And its really cheap. Even, I always love to get some breads from 85. The down side is that the place is pretty shabby looking with little parking (mostly curbside coin parking only). read more

Being an American, almost every cake or pastry that I have purchased, the sugar out weighs the flavor of the baked goods or toppings.This bakery is the complete opposite, the mango and chocolate cakes are my favorites but all are delicious. Red Ribbon is a pretty well known Filipino bakery - especially the cakes. I have plenty of non-Filipino friends that pick up cake from Red Ribbon for birthdays and special occasions. For years, my family would pick up Ube, Mango and Mocha cakes there for birthdays and get togethers. The cake is always fantastic! Now, this is the first time I've ever gone into it alone and also the first time I wasn't picking up a big cake. I went in to pick up a slice of Ube cake for my bro Lucas P. since there really isn't much Filipino stuff near UCLA and I was heading out there to hang out. I walked in and there was a family looking at cake designs and a couple people in line for the register. It was pretty chill. I grabbed a bag of Pan De Sal and waited in line. It moved pretty quick and when it got to me, the lady asked me to move to the register on the other end of the counter. I didn't mind walking over there, but the way she talked to me made me feel really uncomfortable. It was as if I was bothering her or something. Um, okay? This is kind of your job, right? No matter, I thought, she could just be having a rough morning - we all have those. So why the one star? Well... She got my cake and rang me up. It was just over $4. I only had 3 dollar bills and a 20 - so, I hand her the 20. She opens the register for change and lets out an exasperated sigh. "Don't you have something else? It's only $4." Umm...okay...now she's making me feel bad? I show her I only have $3 and tell her I'm sorry, but still she is annoyed with me. Why is it MY fault that YOU had issues with breaking a damn $20 bill?! It's not like it was a C note or anything. Geez. In any case, she hands me the change grudgingly and I continue to apologize. As I walk away, I hear her scoff and say to another employee (in Tagalog), "Do you have any change in your register? She took all of mine." Uh, excuse me? B*TCH, just because I spoke to you in English doesn't mean I don't understand your sorry butt. If I wasn't halfway out the door, I probably would have turned around and mean mugged her, but instead I just walked out pissed as hell. Overall, not worth my time. Customer service goes a LONG way with me. You can have the crappiest food, but if your service is good, I'm definitely going to note that. When I have a bad experience, it takes a lot to get me to go back. I'm not the type of person to give attitude and I'm not one of those nagging customers. Treat me well and I'll treat you well. Isn't that just common courtesy? Next time I need a cake, I'm driving to Cerritos - they're service can't be worse than this. 20 more minutes of my time is worth it if I don't have to deal with ish like this again. read more

This shopping center gets so busy!!! Anyways, I aimed to go here for a birthday mango cake for the boyfriend. The party size was reasonably priced for $26! I was surprised... because at the Moreno Valley location, that price would get me the smaller sized cake. Mango cake was delicious. I was also looking into buying Taisan bread, but it looks like they only sell them in 3 packs. I would buy, but I'm on a diet and a budget so maybe next time lol. Service was nice and quick... there was a long line and there was one person cashiering and another person getting the order... which was a good system. Also they did the lettering on my cake! Very nice. They serve other cakes, like the mocha, ube, tres leches, etc, which are all good. They also have savory bakery like pandesal, ensymada, empanadas. The cakes presentation is beautiful and it taste as good as it looks. its light n fluffy with the right amount to frosting. The bottom tier of my friend's wedding cake was toffee crunch and it was soooooooooo GOOOD!! The top tier (there were only 2 tiers total) was some mango but the toffee crunch was so good that I didn't even eat the mango cake. For the longest time I didn't know where her cake was from but I've been thinking about it for the past year and now I've found out! I'm so glad there are many other Red Ribbons (especially up here in NorCal) so I will visit and have some more cake! read more

Love this place! Empanadas, empanadas, empanadas! They have the worlds best. The beef and the chicken are both amazing. The beef is slightly sweet, but still savory. The chicken pure savory. I am addicted to these things. The crust is heavenly, they arent oily, and they keep and heat up perfectly for breakfast. Their cakes are good, but I tend to prefer Chinese/Korean/Japanese bakeries more as they are less sweet. A good cake item here is the Mamon, these have lots of butter to counter the sweetness. Their chocolate and brownies here have too much sugar for my taste. The presentation is nice on their decorated cakes though and the people are usually friendly. read more

I received a mango roll from a co-worker on my work anniversary and I am so glad this was my first introduction to Filipino food! I don't normally have a sweet tooth but this was something I would go out of my way to get again. Sweet enough that it was definitely a decadent dessert but the pureed mango and light fluffy white cake were so airy that I didn't feel guilty at all. I rarely love a dessert but the ratio of frosting to cake and the fresh fruit filling were a special combo and I felt special that someone got this for me. I don't recommend this place!!!! Most of the employee esp the manager talks loud.. the louder voice ever! We don't want to know your business so, can these management change! Please oh gosh!!! I am obsessed with Red Ribbon! I usually come here with my lolo and lola or even ask them to pick up some delicious palabok for me. I LOVE THE PALABOK!! The bad part of it is sometimes the palabok can be a little cold on some areas and I don't like the fact that they reheat it.They should cook it daily like panda express or something, but overall I love the big platter or the palabok with a slice of cake deal. One problem is the drink is not as cold, they should leave it in the fridge longer but again overall I love this place. read more

Empanadas are good, customer service is horrible. Waited in a long line and then when I got to the front counter to place my order, there was no cashier (they were busy packaging a cake for someone). Then another cashier comes to the front counter where I'm waiting to order and she is counting the money in the cash drawer. Then another manager comes out from the back to ring up the other people waiting for the cake. So there were a total of 3 workers in the front and none of them even acknowledged that I was standing there waiting to order. They lacked common decency, manners, and even mediocre customer service skills. I will never come back here! read more

Service is good. Prices are a little much compared to the portions for party trays for pancit. I even called a bunch of times to call ahead, no answer until my 6th call.. when I came in it didn't seem busy but then again don't know what the problem was. The large tray for pancit was around $20 that serves 4-7 people. Pretty cheap but I assumed the tray would be a little bigger. But still one of my favorite places to get pancit. read more
