They are so nice here! We were seated right away at 6pm on a summer weeknight. It's a very cute, homey restaurant with a lot of natural light. The service and food is amazing at this restaurant. We ordered the wings, full rack if ribs, fish and chips and the onion rings. The portion of fish I received was enormous for me and it was thick. The onions rings were sliced so thin and had an amazing seasoned batter on them. Ribs were so easy to eat off the bone and the sauce that came with it was perfect. Decided to try this place given the previous reviews. We were greeted and seated immediately in the dining room in the front of the restaurant, which was good as they had live music in the other room. Between the music and that room being full it would have been difficult to have a conversation. Our server appeared immediately to ask if we had been there before and did we have any questions. He yolk our drink order while we looked over the menu which is not large but has a good selection of entrees and starters. We asked if the tater tots app could be adjusted somewhat and were told the kitchen probably wouldn't do that so we ordered the corn fritters. The corn fritters arrived and unfortunately they were fried way too long making them very hard to eat and very dry inside. The maple dipping sauce helped to add moisture. The entrees were the pulled pork sandwich and the 1/2 order of ribs. Both dishes came with French fries and artery sauce. The ribs came with a small amount of barbecue sauce to dip the meat into. Would have been good if the pork came with it as well. The pulled pork was very juicy and was served on a hamburger bun. The ribs had good flavor but it was good to have the added barbecue sauce as they were a little on the dry side. There was also a small slice of corn bread which was excellent. Very soft and tasty. The fries were a good sized portion, well fried and crispy .the coleslaw was unremarkable and didn't add to the meal. The cost for dinner was not bad considering the amount food that we were given. Seating was comfortable and once the music stopped the atmosphere was pretty good. We had a split decision on whether we were looking at a 3 or 4. We're at 3.5 I'd say but rounded up to a 4. Every time I come to the Cape, I search for BBQ, and I am almost always disappointed at how few options I find . Red River put an end to the disappointment. It is a combination of a welcoming atmosphere, a nice variety of food options, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. My dinner group was larger, and I saw on their website that they consider their restaurant small, so I called in advance. They said they could accommodate us but were not sure if we'd need to be seated at two smaller tables, but we were okay with that. It turns out they were able to seat us at one large table in their main room. The atmosphere there was casual and pleasant, with interesting wall decor and paintings for sale. The other room has the bar and is a bit more trendy. We were greeted almost immediately, and we were treated to the same quality level of service the entire evening. I would think the main draws here would be the bbq plates, which come with dense corn bread, coleslaw, and your choice of a side. I was able to sample all of them, and among them, the mac and cheese was my favorite. My potato salad had a very "freshly made" taste to it, and those at my table who ordered fries enjoyed their flavor. If you're not interested in a bbq plate, other options include entrees such as a shrimp basket, and various sandwiches and burgers. Also, all of our dinners came out at the same time, a big plus for a large dinner group. The only thing I thought might have been slightly off was the cocktail two of us ordered, a Lion's Tail. I like these because they use Allspice Dram. The drink should have a complex flavor combining the allspice, lime, and the sweetness of a syrup, but in this case the lime overwhelmed the drink, perhaps as in too much lime juice, not enough dram or syrup. Both of us agreed. Beyond that, all others at our table were completely pleased with their drinks, and this was certainly not something I would consider as any significant issue. It was a treat to find Red River, as well as a treat to dine here. I wish them success, because I hope to be back for future Cape visits. read more

The best description for Red River BBQ is: Meh. I had the chili followed by the Fish and Chips. Chili was OK, but the smoky flavoring was a bit overwhelming. The fish, which was a decent sized piece of cod, was breaded, then deep fried. It was greasy and had to be blotted off before it could be eaten. The 'chips', which were actually french fries, were good with the right amount of crunch. The waitstaff needs to learn how to do their job. When you take someone's napkin, be sure to replace it so that the customer doesn't have to ask the woman at the bar for another. When a customer asks for a plate to eat their fish properly, the customer shouldn't have to ask twice. The ambiance is generic. Not much of a hint that this is even a BBQ place. read more

The barbecue in this joint is delicious, at least the Pulled Pork that I had was. Tender, luscious and the RRBBQ sauce was just terrific. Enough left over for a pork and slaw sandwich the next day. Our server kindly popped in some extra sauce for me without asking. In spite of the fact that the mac and cheese was a little dry and not hot, and while 2 of my corn fritters were undercooked, we'll definitely go back. Visited Friday, July 26, 2024 in the afternoon between lunch and supper. Only one other party was there, likely due to the time of day and the phenomenal beach day weather after three days of on/off rain. Restaurant was clean, orderly and well laid out. The server Jess was friendly and helpful throughout. My wife started with a Red River Spicy martini which was excellent. They offer a variety of mixed drinks, wines, and a respectable selection of beers in bottles or on tap. I had a Cape Cod Beer Beach Blonde draft which was very good. Ordered 1/2 rack spare ribs that came with cornbread, coleslaw, and potato salad (other side options available). Meat was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. BBQ sauce was delicious. Everything was excellent including potato salad that included little cuts of mozzarella. My wife tried the RRB tater tots that were very tasty. My daughter ordered fish and chips (always a risk at a bbq joint) but the fish was perfectly cooked as were the fries. In spite of good portions, no food was left over which is very unusual for us. Best meal we had all week and will definitely return. Red River BBQ is officially on our got to list! read more

Went there for dinner last night. All four of us were very impressed with the food, service, and vibe of Red River. I had a half rack of spare ribs. Others in the party had a smash burger, brisket sandwich and fish & chips. All diners at the table were super impressed with the quality of the food. Four home runs! I think if you can make great fish & chips at a BBQ place, the kitchen must know what they are doing. Really nice French fries and Mac and cheese sides, too The place was packed even on a Wednesday night in the off-season. Our server Courtney, who apparently was covering most of the restaurant, was so efficient and hard working that we felt like she was just taking care of us. We wanted to like this place more but the food wasn't as good as we were hoping. It's a really cool looking place and our waitress was really really nice, but most of the food was either too greasy or just way too burnt. The fries and hush puppies were practically inedible and the cod with the fish and chips seemed somewhat burnt too. If we went back I'd choose pretty much any other food, although the Mac and cheese was pretty good. Seeing all these other reviews I think we maybe went on an off night, but if you go and you get burnt fried food don't be afraid to send it back. read more

Outstanding meal, excellent value. Heard that RRBBQ was acquired by a new team, so we decided to give it another go. It's original incarnation was, let's be honest, underwhelming at best. The new chef is absolutely crushing it. Massively intense flavors, properly calibrated, well presented, and intelligently distributed. We started with two small plates, the corn fritters and crunchy shrimp on grits. The former comes out piping hot with whipped honey butter and maple syrup dipping sauce. The last time I recall such crazy good, mouthwateringly sweet fritters was at Latham's in Brewster, probably in 1965. Yes, a Proustian flashback on this one for me! The shrimp was snappy, full of fresh flavor, and napped in a drizzling of tangy BBQ sauce with nectarine garnish. Honestly, I haven't had such amazingly tasty food here since things got stale at L'Alouette in the early 1990s! What a great opening salvo to a savory BBQ meal. My wife and I shared a "large plate" of a half pound of succulent prime brisket (four glorious slices!) , served with a zesty cole slaw, a delicious tranch of jalapeño corn bread with honey butter, and a side of mac and cheese. The brisket is tender, lightly smoky, and deeply satisfying. That bark, that ring! I'm so glad we shared because it's a lot of food. My only modest reservation concerns the sides: the cornbread was slightly dry, and the mac and cheese was too wet. There needs to be a happy middle here, because the brisket is decidedly not juicy. That's *not* a critique, because I think it's perfect. But for this style of BBQ, I think a firm, stiff Macaroni Pie with cheddar would be more aligned with the overall theme. One other thought: it might be nice to offer an array of sauces. The house sauce is sweet but tangy, but it might be nice to have an astringent, vinegary option... If it's your first visit, try ordering an assortment from the appetizer selections. Three or four should do it unless you're Andre the Giant. Jeremiah runs a lot of specials on different nights; Sundays it's 50 cent wings. Thursdays feature smoked prime rib; unbelievably delicious and a very generous cut. Jeremiah's 2026 Super Bowl menu? How about a whole hog and all the sides served buffet style for those eating in, or an outrageous "to go" BBQ combo meal if you want to eat at home. We don't eat out much in summer because - crowds, but I saw a post about smoked prime rib and alerted hubby. I haven't had prime rib in ten or so years. We got there early at 4:45. This was a huge treat, tasty and I had a lot left for breakfast with eggs. The lads managed to devour most of theirs. Christian was our sever and was very attentive. Highly recommend smoked prime rib. Such a delicious rich flavor. While there were only a few tables when we arrived, it was crowded by the time we finished. Will return to RED RIVER Barbecue! Food is a 4!!! However, gave a 3 due to small portion sizes of Brisket , Mac and cheese side, lukewarm food temperature & ambiance. We happened to drive by and noticed that the old L'aoellete French restaurant that used to vacate that spot was no longer. A barbecue restaurant had taken its place. Sooo we thought nice change - let's give it try. Overall we're glad we did. But I must say when we stepped in, we initially weren't sure. It's a bit bare bones - don't let this dissuade you. From our perspective it appears as though they switched out the food from French to Barbecue fair, hung a couple pictures here and there and used everything that had been there before - including white linen table cloths covered with fresh brown paper(after each party vacates)-we're thinking that they're putting their money into the food and the attentive , friendly waitstaff. Food was tasty but all items were lukewarm. Would have preferred them all hotter (if that's word?) Ordered some delicious onion strings and tater tots covered in barbecue, brisket, sour cream and cheddar cheese for apps! Both quite tasty! Then I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs which was very tasty - meat fell off the bone ! In our book that's always a good sign for ribs! Strangely though, I couldn't finish the 1/2rack (comes with Cole slaw & corn bread) and typically not finishing a meal is a rarity for me haha . So my husband finished them off. This turned out to be a good thing because although tasty, the serving size of the brisket he ordered and the Mac and cheese chosen side were both on the small side? RRBBQ is definitely now on my permanent visit list. Fantastic food, fantastic, friendly staff, and very comfortable atmosphere. The drink menu nicely compliments the food. I never take the time to write reviews but I had to spread the word. My family and I had the best i mean top Knoch experience at dinner last night. When I tell you the food is the best Cape cod has seen in a long time. The amount of gluten free options is well beyond most in the area. Besides how great the food is the staff was great as well. Our server Courtney could answer anything thrown at her about the menu and got all 8 of our drinks and meals correct without using a pen. I have to admit we were nervous something would be wrong, but after watching her serve the room we knew we would be ok. If you are looking for good food and excellent service give them a try. Definitely a must try if you are on the cape We stopped in after a long day I had the brisket platter the brisket was tender and juicy 'em with just the right amount of smoke for side we had cowboy beans which were very good and the corn bread which was awesome The potato salad and French fries were ok. 'Just a few blocks across the street from where I live, Chef Moi tried this place within its first week of operation. I experienced/felt "nah" as food was lackluster mediocre. Service was way too "Country-Cowboy" casual themed, superficial and our waitstaff was oblivious to basic courtesy. Today, the emphasis, ambience is far less country-cowboy (yay!!). I encountered only 3 people at the bar, no one but me seated and still the waitstaff is scurrying for people who have yet to come. When a young gent from the kitchen surfaced to quench his thirst, I asked him about the menu and recommendations. The waitstaff failed to recommend anything other than what I ordered. They might have wanted to recommend add-ons, upsell?? Regular, full meals come w/cornbread and slaw, my $28 *special* did NOT. The meal was marginally better this time than last, although the side of slaw I ordered was so salty it was inedible. Waitstaff remains the same and fails to recognize the needs of the customer. I had to hear a lot of derogatory talk about "work" from the two waitstaff attending. They appeared to be more consumed with themselves than the customer's dining experience. The kitchen really needs to do 'pre-meal' w/FOH. Panna cotta (my FAVORITE) was a dessert choice, (and complimentary for Mother's Day) but my waitstaff didn't know what the flavor nor sauce was... good thing it was complimentary because one bite in was another "No." read more
