Well, this place is really quite difficult to rate. It's a unique experience if you've never sampled what is described as authentic Russian food. I've never been to Russia, so I can't vouch. The owner is quite proud of her creation and it's a fun adventure. Still, very pricey, things do take awhile to appear, and I believe that finer food can be found around town. Super interesting atmosphere and her care with her guests is lovely. Super cool atmosphere, with elegant china, booth seating, red leather couches, prominent bar, artwork. Almost David Lynch like in feel. I learned that true Vodka is flavorless. I didn't sample the $40 martini, but I heard it was nice. The beverages are very Russian and wines are only by the bottle, so just keep that in mind if you are just two. The caviar is beautifully served, described, subtly floured, and expensive. The borsch is very tart, chunky. Interesting, but you really need to like beets. The foie Gras is decadent and expensive I had the salmon in the puff pastry. Interesting flavors, especially the sauce, but I think I'm so used to cleaner food preparations that the combination didn't bring wild delight (and this was also $59). Other half tried the stroganoff, not on noodles apparently the more traditional style with a side of grains and small taste of a cabbage dish. According to our host, Russians do not eat as much vegetables and salads. I guess I'm too used to the American version as the flavors were odd to me. For me, not the finest meal in town and definitely one of the most expensive. Honestly, I think the better choice for the experience would have been just the vodka and caviar. Of course, not an option if you do not drink alcohol Reservations are a must on Open Table, but the availability can be deceptive. Firstly, Victoria is a treasure, and made our night super special. Secondly, Philip made fantastic drinks and was a true gentleman and very charming. We had martinis...I started with the Pepper Vodka martini, my wife the pickle Martini. I opted for that as well on my second drink. Then I moved to vodka on the rocks. Perfect! We had the Prince's Caviar. Our first time, both of us. We both preferred the Sevruga more...but both were wonderful. We then had the Foie Gras. Best we ever had. And we both LOVE Foie Gras. We split the borscht. Another first time for us both. A wonderful in-between course. Much better than we were expecting. For dinner, Charisse had the Kulebiaka. I had the Satsivy. Best duck I've ever eaten...and the walnut pomegranate...next level. The Kulebiaka was also wonderful, love the combination of flavors...but the Duck was one of the best pieces of meat I have ever had. Our anniversary was so special, Victoria made it even more so, and my wife hugged her (and yes...she teared up!) We will never forget this experience. We are both over the moon about the entire evening! The decor was traditional, Russian music was loud enough that we couldn't hear the conversations at the next table. If, like me, you rely on Open Table to make your dinner plans, then stay away from this place. This restaurant neither provides accurate availability information on Open Table, nor honors reservations. It doesn't matter if you come in reliance on Open Table showing plenty of availability that evening (and thus not needing a reservation), or actually make a reservation "just in case" - either way, you are running the real risk of being turned away at the door. When that happens, then just like us, you will find yourself walking around Rehoboth in freezing cold with your elderly parents, trying to find another place that can accommodate you on a weekend night. Save yourself some trouble. Go to a restaurant that respects their customers, and provides a reliable Open Table reservation system. The owner, Victoria, apparently cooks, manages the bar, acts as hostess, etc., and has too much going on to be bothered with little things like accommodating customers who come to her restaurant based on reservation and/or availability time slots she advertises via Open Table. It really doesn't matter whether or not you have a reservation. She may seat you, or she may show you the door, even despite having a half empty restaurant - you just won't know until you show up. And beware: if you give her any negative feedback on Open Table, Victoria will subject you to a nasty personal attack. That's been my experience. I took the time to share it here, so that you could save your family from having their evening ruined by Victoria. Oh my God! This place has met all my expectations and more! The atmosphere, the vibe, the service, the food... - everything was top notch! The most amazing thing is that the owner Victoria cooks the signature Russian/Ukrainian dishes herself! She is originally from Ukraine. She shared some of those recipes she got from her grandmother. That definitely gave extra unique and exclusive touch to this place overall. Coming originally from ex-soviet country and being a Russian speaker - I had to try borscht. Oh my my my - that was THE BEST borscht I've ever had! I also loved pelmeni! My bf had beef stroganoff- sooooop good! Victoria is amazing, friendly and personable individual, she made sure we had great experience, guided us through the history of the place, the signature recipes they use for drinks and food. Speaking of drinks - they use the best quality vodka only for their delicious martinis! And let me tell you - the martini glass size is 7 oz! That's way more that the average 3 or 5 oz size cocktail anywhere else! And I can tell with 100% confidence - I've had the best chocolate martini I've ever tried! And i did try plenty in the best places in NYC back when I lived there. I also tried Bloody orange martini, my boyfriend had Rasputin - both were amazing! This is the place where you can't go wrong with any drink or dish. And that is the ONLY place with Russian/Ukrainian food in the whole Delaware! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! On July 22nd I attempted to make a reservation for my July 30th birthday. I called the restaurant and a number for Victoria, whomever that is, and also left numerous messages of my request. After no return calls I did make a reservation for Sunday, Aug 1 via open table. I received an email on July 31 that my reservation had been cancelled, no explanation at all, just that it had been cancelled. I called the restaurant to ask why but of course, no answer. Then I called Victoria, and of course no answer, but about 2 minutes later I received a call from Victoria, I know this because of caller ID, only to be hung up on, probably because she didn't recognize my voice. Needless to say, I will not be going to Red Square. It's a shame, I'm a huge fan of caviar and my wife bought caviar from there in the past, but no more. We were welcomed by the owner Victoria upon arrival. She explained in depth about the vodkas and martini choices. I Recommend all of them, but definitely try the special of the day. Small and intimate restaurant. We were greeted by the owner when we arrived and were seated. She explained vodka to us and we both ordered a drink, which were tastey! We ordered borscht, a smoked salmon appetizer, beef stroganoff and seared duck. The food was amazing! There was time in between the appetizers and the meal which was nice. We didn't feel rushed. We ordered appetizers to share and the smoked salmon was so fresh and delicious. The Stroganoff was traditional and flavorful, the duck was so tender and the roasted vegetables were perfect. We followed the red square website instructions and made a dinner reservation through Open Table at 6:30pm on Tuesday. We came to the place at 6:30pm and the restaurant was closed. Nobody reached out to us to let us know they would be closed. Their website said they were open everyday at 6pm for dinner, even the sign at the restaurant door said "We're open". Yet we got there and the door was locked and the lights were off. We called and left voicemails but no response. We got an email later in the evening from Open Table that the reservation was canceled by the restaurant. We think this is unacceptable because: we were excited to try the food, we we're celebrating a birthday and we didn't make any other dinner reservations therefore making it very hard to find another last minute restaurant to accommodate 8 people in the busy season. Be aware. Very misleading website and they do not care to check their reservations and reach out if they plan to keep their restaurant closed. read more

If you are a devotee of caviar and/or longing to sample a broad swath of Russian vodkas, this is your place. Also, the food really is delicious, albeit pricey. So, why the mediocre rating? To warn off the casual diner who thinks it would be nice to try "something different." First of all, you absolutely must make a reservation, and as many of noted on Yelp, you might still be turned away. The night we came, we did have a reservation and were admitted, but we saw the owner turn away a couple who had no reservation and offered to dine at the bar if no table was available. The restaurant had only 5 customers (which included us) the whole time we were there... but perhaps the owner didn't want to hurry people (or her staff) if others were coming an hour later. Another thing to know is that the owner is very opinionated! This can be delightful, if you want to be enlightened about Russian vodka--but also annoying, when she gets judge-y about the addition of vermouth and a twist of lemon. Also, if you enjoy having a glass of wine with dinner, you'll probably need to buy a whole bottle. Since we didn't want a bottle of wine, I ordered a second blood orange cocktail, (costing $20 apiece) which is lovely to start an evening, but not a good pairing with dinner. Overall, we loved the food, the drinks were great, and the experience was amusing. I felt like we had wandered into a private club, at which we were being evaluated as to whether we were worthy of what was on offer. Would I recommend it to others? Really depends on your willingness to chance whether you'll get in, and your willingness to accept the good and the bad. First the good then the not so good. We went here last Friday night with my family. We were a group of ten and practically the only guests in the restaurant. The owner was incredibly attentive and explained every item on the menu. The martinis and food was delicious. The not so good was that after spending nearly $1000.00 on dinner we all left hungry. The portions for the price are very (seriously) small. One of the $21.00 appetizers was 4 small steamed mushroom dumplings in a butter sauce. The beef stroganoff was good (I've had better here in Boston - St. Petersburg restaurant) and "served" with buckwheat groats literally a teaspoon on the side. I've never had caviar before but now I'm completely spoiled! Had the Prince Gourmet which included two caviars, toast points, Cream fresh, and some little pancake things that I forgot the name of but were delicious. I was there with my parents who throughly loved the smoothness of the vodka in their martinis-the staff was excellent, had great recommendations, and shared the story of every part of the Russian culture. The owner Victoria is a pleasure to talk with and will gladly discuss and even educate you on her homeland vodkas and meals. This restaurant seems completely out of place on Rehoboth Ave, and we walked past it for several years. Finally we wandered in 2 years ago, and it has become a mandatory stop for us on a night out in Rehoboth Beach. First, the vodka selection is awesome, and the bartender does some of his own infusions. Second, the caviar is amazing, and they do it right, with blinis, creme fraiche and clarified butter with mother of pearl spoons. You do NOT get what you pay for. First off, I got the mushroom ravioli as an appetizer which was $19... literally 4 medium size pieces of ravioli. No garnishing or anything and even the mushrooms were so thin and shredded. Waste of money. My friend got the olivier salad. One scoop and BARELY any chicken which was $15. It definitely tasted refrigerated for awhile. We asked for bread and it never came. Took them 30 minutes to make 2 martinis and it wasn't even that busy even though the owner claimed it was packed for her to handle. Never coming back. read more

The drinks are all very good, strong, and made with good vodka. We had the dirty martini and pomegranate martini last time. The bartenders are engaging and will remember you. My wife and I try to visit Rehoboth Beach at least once a year. We love the town but relish its fine eateries as much as its beach. But we kept bypassing Red Square. But this year we went by, saw it would be open that evening so decided to give it a try. And now we're kicking ourselves for waiting this long. This restaurant is nothing short of a find. An oasis of spectacular cuisine, not to mention they feature around 200 varieties of vodkas and a fascinating line-up of incredible vodka cocktails. Our favorite was the pepper vodka cocktail. And the pour is more than generous. Nothing in this restaurant is pre-prepared, so if you don't appreciate a slow meal presentation where you're treated like a valued, visiting family member, maybe this isn't your type of place. As for us, we appreciated that Victoria, the owner and chef, carefully went over her menu offerings. We started with a lovely caviar sampler. Umm. By the time we'd finished this course, out came my beef stroganoff. I could have drunk the sauce it was so good. No exaggeration! Diana ordered Satsivy, a luscious Georgian dish consisting of roasted duck breast in a pomegranate and walnut sauce accompanied by drunken plums. Oh, yes, it is as good as it sounds. Even better. Although I could go on and on (and already probably have), but I cannot recommend highly enough this wonderful restaurant with its inviting and rich environment. Tried the flight of Russian vodkas, each served in their own chilling glasses. Tried the Salmon Alexander (blinis, salmon, creme fraiche, salmon caviar, caper berries) and the Russian mushroom pasta (like ravioli). They were terrific!
