This is one of our favorite neighborhood eateries. Tonight's dinner was exceptionally delicious! Had the fried white fish which was fresh, flaky and yummy! Lastly, do yourself a favor and try the coconut cream pie!! It's made in house and was one of the best coconut cream pies I've had! read more

Aida was wonderful! She is such a sweet soul who loves what she does. She actually interacts with the people she serves and gets to know them a little before taking their order which is nice. The food itself was delicious! I got the Benedict sampler which came with a bacon, sausage, and ham Benedict! All three were delicious. My wife got the avocado Benedict and loved it as well. Mighty fine breakfast!!! First and foremost, Iced Tea was super fresh!!! Hubby got the Chicken Fried Steak - was a handmade one with really good gravy!! He added jalapenos, they had just come off the grill! His eggs were perfect over easy and the hashbrowns were great! We both passed on the breads, though everyone around us seemed to enjoy their biscuits and the pancakes. I ordered the chili cheddar omelette. I know, it sounds like a heartburn breakfast, but it was quite good. The beef inside it was mildly seasoned and the cheddar complimented it well. It was covered with their chili, really good and not too greasy - flavorful but not too spicy for those afraid of that! My side of sliced tomatoes were good, I added their flavorful seasoned salt on those. The portions were generous, the service was great, and we were happy to hear they open early each morning, likely when we'll make our next appearance!! Lunch menu sounded great, too! Went for lunch today. Had the fried chicken dinner. It was very good tender and moist, breading was crispy and not soggy. Mashed potatoes with cream gravy, corn, salad, and cornbread as good as always. Topped it off with apple cobbler à la mode. All in all an excellent lunch. read more

I just moved to Dallas and the one thing I really miss about home is my mom's home cooking. Don't tell my mom but I came here last week and I miss her less now! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and the portions were HUGE. Everything's bigger in Texas but this felt like the Republic of Texas before the Compromise of 1850. My girlfriend had the eggs benedict and the eggs were perfectly poached! I wish I took a picture but the food looked too good so we ate it all before we had a chance. We'll be back though! read more

Great mom and pop cafe. Stopped in on a late Sunday morning for breakfast and were not disappointed. Our girls both ate everything on their plates which speaks for itself. Service was great, food was out quickly. Our waitress was attentive. Owner/manager was up front greeting everyone and walking around ensuring every one was doing well. Horrible experience. My daughter and I were totally ignored and they were not very busy. Our waitress got a six top 5 minutes after us. She took their order first, then went and got drinks for another table before finally taking our order. This six top left 15 minutes before us because she was attentive to them. I ran out of coffee twice and never did get a refill after that second time. When she brought our food she said she would be right back with silverware but was gone over five minutes. We started trying to eat with a spoon from the coffee. By the time we got silverware after asking for it a second time our food was cold. She never once stopped again. Never once asked how the food was or if we needed anything. When I tried to talk to the cashier/hostess she would not even speak to me. Just looked at the floor and rang us out. If you're wanting to come sit down at cafe with no intention of getting served food, this is the place for you! Got seated and took 15 minutes for the front of house manager to ask us if we needed drinks because no waiter had picked out table up. We then sat there for another 20 minutes with orders ready yet no waitress had even bothered to great us. Very disappointing because it had a small country cafe vibe and I'm sure the food would have been good but I'll never know because I never got the chance to try it. read more

Eating here is always an experience. The owner (James) will usually greet you at the door or come by your table to shake hands. The waitstaff is good and very friendly but its usually full so you might have to wait to get a table. They absolutely have the best bacon in town! Their breakfasts are the best. Lunch is good with homestyle cooking but the chicken fried steak was/is a huge disappointment. Everything else is excellent! I usually dine there 3/4 times a week so I definitely like it! read more

My husband and I went to Red Truck Cafe for the first time today. He had breakfast and I had lunch which we both enjoyed. Love the decor and it's just a cozy place. The owner checked on us several times and we enjoyed chatting with him. The waitress were all very friendly and helpful. Especially loved the America flag hanging from the ceiling and nice calls out to our military on the menu. Neat place, we will be back. read more

You would not think of a fillet steak at this restaurant, but I tried the fillet steak, and it was amazing. They have a peppercorn sauce you can get on It and I believe it was the best tasting and tender steak I have ever had. read more

Just tried this place for lunch. Ordered to go a BLT with Avocado. Gotta say that it was great. Bacon was flavorful and crispy but not over cooked. It had enough avocado to taste it in every bite. I loved that they cut the sandwich in 4 pieces. The only bad thing was the fries. They needed salt. But they do add a packet of salt with the utensils. But otherwise, it was delicious. I went in today to try their lunch. Was crowded, but they were able to seat me quickly. That was the last fast thing. I waited for 5 to 10 minutes after being seated and no one had come to take my drink order. I noticed that other people had empty drink glasses. I realize that with the crowd, they were busy, but that just means that the staff should be walking around that the customers are being served as well as taking care of all new customers. I was hungry, so since no one had been by, I just walked to the front, dropped my menu at the cashier station (no one was there) and left. Don't think that I will be back. read more

A different special every day at a darn good price! Prime Rib on Saturday nights for only $17? Unheard of. And it's fantastic! I pretty much eat here every Saturday night now. I've had about half of everything on the menu and I've never gotten anything bad. This is my go-to place for comfort food and also for STEAKS! They have steaks that are as least as good as the big steak houses but for just over half the price. The staff is always friendly too! It's my favorite restaurant in town. I can go here every day of the week if I wanted and not eat the same menu item twice and it all be good! read more
