Definitely didn't live up to the reviews today. Maybe they had an off day. Couldn't have been more than 1/2 slice bacon in my omelet. Same issue with my sons skillet. Hash browns, potatoes, biscuits, all nothing to write home about. Coffee was slow. Oh well, some days are like that. read more

Food was ok. Hard to mess up bacon and eggs. My issue was with my treatment. I am hearing impaired and was asked to turn down my phone. I said that I am hearing impaired but still asked to turn it down. Talking loud and laughing it up is okay. If you are handicapped, at least hearing, I would suggest someplace else. read more

First time here, seated with a group of five about 11:10. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and we settled in for a nice meal. Wait time between when we ordered to when we were finally served our food was a least 20 minutes. I ordered a short stack of pancakes and a ham slice. The pancakes I received were barely warm, dry, with one visibly falling apart on the plate. Ham was tasty but like the pancakes was almost cold. Can't say enough good things about our server, but waited a long time for food that just didn't measure up to what I expected. read more

It was Memorial Day weekend and I thought we would give this new neighborhood diner a try for breakfast. For starters, we were seated by a young girl who possessed an attitude similar to someone who was serving jail time. Not a single friendly word but a grumble about what did we want to drink. Not off to a great start. Our server showed up promptly but seemed averse to making eye contact or conversation for that matter. Her nose was buried into her remote order taking device. On a positive note, the food came out promptly delivered by a different person. Again, the warmth you would expect from a neighborhood eatery just wasn't there. Guess we should consider a different neighborhood next time. The food itself might be deemed standard fare by some, but my standard would be tasty and it did not meet my standard. In my life, I have never seen so much margarine applied to a piece of toast. Really should have taken a photo of it so you could grasp the unpleasantness of the situation. On second thought, I don't think you should have to suffer. I know I won't make the same error again. read more

We use Yelp almost everyday so we can explore different places to eat. We were looking for something for a Saturday breakfast and discovered this place. The reviews looked good so we gave it a shot. The place is clean and we were seated right away at 9:30 in the morning. Motorcycles out front is always a good sign regarding breakfast. Our food was very good and the prices are reasonable. I would give it another star if our order is taken quicker next visit. Yes, we will be back. This will be a go to place for breakfast. I am sure we will also check it out for lunch. I got the Red Truck Cafe omelet and it was great! Omelet came with biscuits, gravy and hash browns! The owner is the old manager of Poor Richards and he brought the PR model over here and it shows! Good cheap diner food at a classic mom-pop neighborhood diner: friendly overworked staff who miss the simple things like utensils at the tables, refills, and inquiring if you need anything at any point you are there. I ordered the CFS with three sides: sides were yummy, CFS was diner average but honestly for $8.99 is was on par. Ate here last week. Had their cheeseburger. Average at best. Fries were $3.50 and not very good or plentiful. Avoid them. Service was pretty bad. Had to wait a long time to order and get drinks. I asked for refill and never received. Wife had eggs and bacon and said it was good. In my opinion Poor Richards Cafe clearly better in food quality, amount and price. Came here for breakfast earlier in the week. My Coffee was always full and my server checked on us frequently. I had ordered an Egg White Omelette with a side of Fruit and Toast on the side. It was delicious , I enjoyed every bite. This place has an at-home feel. It's decorated nicely and it has a warm cozy feeling. Staff is very attentative and we really enjoyed the food. I went as a group and the location was picked by someone else. I knew nothing about it. Wasn't expecting anything special, but was quite impressed. My experience (and that of the rest of our group based on comments) was that the selection was wide and all of it was well prepared. I got the Red Truck Skillet and found it both delicious and reasonably priced. I don't remember the spelling of our servers name (Teththiania ?), but she handled our large group with aplomb and grace, even when our number grew from 10 to 11 and tables had to be shifted. My family and I have gone here twice from my father-in-law's recommendation. I absolutely love their breakfast items here. What stood out to me the most were the employees and how well they accommodate. For example, I'm someone who loves chewy bacon - I can't stand crispy (it also hurts my teeth) but the cooks actually read the ticket and made it correctly!!! We go to so many breakfast spots and they ALWAYS mess up my bacon but for once, this place got it right! I also love how the owner consistently walks around and checks on all tables. Super sweet man. They've got a wide variety of items on their menu which works for when others crave something else beside basic breakfast items. They also have great pricing based on the time of day and age groups! The only downside to this place is that their pancakes are on the drier side than other places. It's too cakey and dry for our preference. It crumbles quickly so we just get toast instead now. read more

My fiancé and I stopped in last week for a quick brunch before errands. We live in the area and we're excited to hear of a new low key diner in our neighborhood. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was about 1/3 full and people were talking in hushed tones because there was no music playing to drown out other table's conversations. I was craving Egg's Benedict and my fiancé ordered a scramble. Food came out fairly quickly, but my poached eggs were over cooked to the point that they were hard and the hollandaise sauce had an odd taste and almost a grittiness to it. My fiancé's scramble was ok, but the biscuits and gravy side left something to be desired. I will say, our hash browns were perfectly crisp though! Overall, service was great, but the food was pretty sub par. I would also recommend playing some music in the restaurant as it made it a bit awkward when there weren't that many tables seated. read more

I've been passing this restaurant on my way to Nadine' Music Manor since it opened. Great décor, and I do love those 1948-1954.5 GMC/Chevy pick up trucks. We saw this cafe while driving to eat somewhere else. I am so glad that we stopped because the food and service is amazing. We had the Red truck breakfast and the chicken fried chicken. The eggs, hash browns and bacon were on point and the chicken fried chicken is probably the best that I've ever had. The mashed potatoes, fried okra, and green beans really took the meal over the top. I have lived in the area for 3 yrs and have driven past Red Truck Cafe hundreds of times. Even remember when it was going by a different name. I love diner style arrangements and have planned for a long time to try out this place. I decided today would be the day. I ordered delivery, requested the chicken fried steak and eggs and fruit cobbler, with a sweet tea. Here's my remarks on a indirect experience: 1) The order arrived in a timely manner and food was still at a proper temp to enjoy and eat at arrival. 2) The cobbler came in a cup with an individual cup to keep the vanilla ice cream. A great way to store the dessert properly while enjoying the meal. 3) I ordered a biscuit and sausage gravy side, which came in a separate container with a separate cup for the gravy. And plenty of it, may I add. 4) In short everything was packaged well and no messy issues. Eating experience: 1) The chicken fried steak was huge, a little to much, so I now have leftovers. The steak was cooked/fried perfectly. Seasoned well and plenty of gravy to accommodate the steak. 2) The hash browns where traditional for any restaurant. 3) The eggs, fluffy and restaurant traditional. 4) The gravy was exceptionally good! For some reason, I have only been able to find good gravy in diner settings, while other restaurant styles have poor gravy skills. Props to Red Truck for very good gravy! 5) While there is only one biscuit included in the side, it would have been nice to have either ordered a second or have the biscuit be larger. One because the biscuit was so good and two, there was lot of gravy and the biscuit complimented the gravy very very well. 6) The fruit cobbler, which happened to be apple, was warm and well made. Again, one of those food sides/desserts that can only be made well in diner like settings. I'm curious if it is possible to order a whole pan of the cobbler, because it definitely tickled my palate. Plus, vanilla ice cream was provided to accommodate the cobbler, which I didn't expect, so it was like a double score on the dessert. I also got the sweet tea. While McDonald's is known for supposedly having the best sweet tea, I believe they have found their competition. Can I say that?...Yes, I just did! It tasted like the old grease. The fish had the grey part on it and tasted so fishy disgusting. I couldn't eat it. The fries and green beans were average, the coleslaw was ok, but warm.
