For arriving at 4:45pm on a sunny Saturday evening, I was surprised that we were seated within 5 minutes of the hostess taking our name (although there were only two of us). The hostess told us 15-20 minutes, so my sister and I went to the bar for a quick drink. There are no beers on draft, and the bottles are a bit pricy. House wines are $6, which is normal. The bartender was probably the worst part of the entire experience -- he just stared at us without saying anything for a good half a minute, then he said, a bit rudely, "do you need something?!" He gave us our drinks and our checks without a word, then walked away. By the time we paid for our drinks, our table was ready. Our waitress, Missy, was very attentive, funny, and nice. We came for the all you can eat crabs, and she never let us run out. She brought us water without asking, and kept checking in on us. My sister is what I would call a crab connoisseur, and she said they had the best crab legs she's ever had. Instead of boiling them, they use a $25,000 steamer, so it's worth the extra money! For $36 you get (all you can eat) the best crab legs, fries, a salad, and veggies. It's a wonderful view of the river, but it is kind of weird that they allow smoking when most people go there for the deck. The food isn't that bad and the drinks are overpriced, especially for what you get. While you might be tempted to enjoy the river view and outdoor dining, the main reason you should stay away is the god awful service. Save yourself the awkward eye rolls and almost open hostility and go to literally anywhere else. Went on a Friday night and had over and hour wait but it was worth it cause we lucked out with wonderful seats. Towards the end of our meal when it started to get dark the bugs started to become an issue. We both got the crab legs and they were just average. This was such a disappointment. We tried it for the first time on a gray Fall Saturday. The outdoor space by the river is inviting, and we had often walked by and wondered how the food was. Unfortunately, the food is not at all appetizing, and with Covid requiring the purchase of food in order to get a beer, this place is not worth returning to. The chowder was flavorless, but at least warm. The chicken wings were mediocre at best. The beers were supposed to be $3 each, but the waitress tried to charge us full price until we pointed it out to her. The beer selection is also not particularly good. This was my second time. Both times was put on list stating 1 hour wait. People were sat before my party even though I was next on the list. Time wait was over 1 hr 45 mins. The big guy was very rude both times. I know I was supposed to be next because I had just checked the list and I was told I'm next. When a man came up from the water and asked if there was a table available and the person he asked said I'll see what I can do. Came here for the first time, wanting crab legs. The wait was over an hour which wouldn't have been so bad, if it wasn't for the DOGS taking up seats at the bar. Yes! Oh and if you happen to be the unfortunate soul to sit next to them, make sure no drool or fur gets into your butter! If you're a woman at the bar forget it. The guy bartender gave us the nod like we'd be served in the near future but it was not true. He never served us. I listened to him and every guy he called "bro" and "buddy" and all of that. Clearly not going to wait on a woman and he never did serve us a drink. Thank god there was a female bartender. She didn't want to wait on us but thankfully she did. Later in the night he drank vodka and spit it out with a lighter. Congrats, bro. This place is weird. Clearly successful because of its location. My husband ordered a beer and asked for a water, the bartender delivered the beer and no water. My husband asked the bartender THREE DIFFERENT TIMES for a water the bartender proceeded to roll his eyes each time and ignore the request. I want to like this place. Sitting outside near the river, the potential for the smell of flowers, great drinks, decent food, friendly staff, but they throw it all away to cater to smokers. So at some point or constantly, depending on who's nearby, you'll smell cigarette smoke while you eat, drink, and "enjoy" the outdoors. I get that it's outside, but skunks are outside, teargas is outside...in other words, it doesn't matter if it's outside. Go non-smoking and cater to the 95% of people who enjoy the outdoors without smoke. This place is so cute- I honestly don't know why there aren't more riverfront restaurants in Pittsburgh. My boyfriend and I met another couple here on a gorgeous summer night for dinner and drinks. It is definitely has an amazing atmosphere and is perfect for groups. The wait sucked (45 minutes but we expected that) and they don't take reservations, but we enjoyed a drink at the bar while we waited. The food was average but good-- definitely nothing over the top and obviously not exceptional seafood since this is Pittsburgh. Dear Redfin Blues, I can't begin to express my disappointment in your establishment. Such high expectations were set when we were greeted at the host stand and sent of for cocktails on a 20 min wait list (which apparently never existed). After 30 mins and seeing literally 4 parties that noticeably came in after us be seated, I reminded the host who directed us to the bar that we were still waiting. After 20 more minutes and 2 more parties getting sat (one who sat themselves) I approached a blonde woman seating and cleaning tables to let her know that we could be removed from the "list". To which she replied "what list?" And didn't even bother to apologize... nothing was offered to assist us in our search for sustenance nor was there anything offered for our inconvenience. Fortunately, for us, the disaster at your restaurant lead us to discover a new place, that we have decided to frequent. So, thank you for f**king up. read more

In the running for one of the worst restaurants in Pittsburgh. If it's your first time in the city, please don't go here. Looks great from the outside but everything else about it is terrible. As a group of four we waited over an hour for a table even though we saw multiple tables left vacant. When we approached the host about it, he lied and claimed he had texted and called us to notify us our table was available. We received no such calls or messages. This is 2016, that "oh I tried to call you" excuse doesn't work anymore. Bar service was terrible but our server Amy was actually great. Food was decent view was alright. the setting of redfin blues is supreme. in just a short drive, you feel like you're not in the city anymore with the water views and breeze. you can watch the more-well-to-do folks on their motorboats and listen to the lounge singer. the food is good, but not superb. but nothing can really compete with the surroundings anyway, so good is good enough in this case. the best part? you can take a walk around the beautiful trail on Washington's Landing after your meal to stretch your legs (and your stomach), and to catch a gorgeous pgh skyline view. read more

Some of the members of our party ordered crab legs, which came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. The rest of us waited an additional 45 minutes until a manager came over to explain that a pizza we ordered was taking longer than expected and would be out in "4 minutes". 15 minutes later half of our party needed to leave. The wait was reasonable and the staff both at the bar and hostess/waitress wise were all very friendly. However, I was very disappointed in my dish. I got a lobster roll (one of my very favorites) and maybe only two bites of it didn't come with a crunchy surprise (shell from the lobster). It was very off putting and I will never think about getting that dish from Redfin Blues again. One of my friends at the table got the lobster mac and had the same issue, which she didn't mention until seeing me pick shell out of my mouth after a bite. A piece or two is generally expected, but from such a highly suggested restaurant with fairly high prices to boot, I was definitely expecting more. The rest of my table got a beautiful salmon salad, shrimp pasta, and buffalo shrimp. They were all more than pleased with their meals! I appreciate Redfin for being open and for their positive attitudes, hustle, and concern/measures taken for safety during this crazy time- if not for all of that, this review could have easily been a two because of how let down I was over my meal. Don't count me out for visiting again- but definitely count on me having a better grasp on what to order! read more
