This is the second time we have eaten dinner at Redfish in Port Orford. It is a lovely, quaint restaurant & bar overlooking the Bay & Battle Rock. You can also watch people walking on the beach & fishing boats. The view is beautiful! We started with the croquettes which they served with a delicious sauce. Then we had the Clam Chowder. Which was also excellent. I compare all Clam Chowder to Ivars, and this one didn't disappoint. I had Clam linguine which was loaded with fresh clams I removed from the shells & a light cream sauce. My husband had the Sable fish, which was sautéed & served with Polenta & olives. Very good he said. Our server was very attentive & made great recommendations for wine, beer and food. We didn't have dessert which looked yummy, but opted instead for an after dinner walk on the beach. I definitely recommend Redfish when you are staying in Port Orford, Gold Beach or Bandon. What a shame, such a beautiful view. Really poor food. Four of us and nobody enjoyed their meal. Scallop app was horrible with the worst gnocchi I've ever had, scallops were not seasoned and the sauce was broken and tasteless. Croquettes were bad. Caesar was ok but bad croutons. Steamer clams were cooked fine but the grey sliced button mushrooms made the broth grey and off putting. Wife had the sablefish and did not enjoy either. Even the kids mac and cheese was bad. Maybe should consider going down in their price point and doing casual food like fish tacos. Not at all worth the $250 I just shelled out for an extremely disappointing dinner. We noticed the establishment when visiting Battle Rock. We have a dog so we're attracted to the outdoor seating. However, since we weren't hungry, decided to wait for another day. I don't know if they allow pets on the patio because when we returned a few days later, the weather conditions were such that we had to eat indoors. Upon arrival, we didn't realize how small the restaurant was inside. The staff member greeted us and advised us that only bar seating was available. Understandable since it was Memorial Day. They were very busy and apparently had unexpected staff shortage but they handled everything graciously and were nice and personable. The cocktail menu had unique selections and quality ingredients. We enjoyed The Battle Rock and The Whale Flower. We had Crispy Oysters, Lamb Shank, and Sablefish, everything was delicious. Clam Linguine wasn't available when we were there so hopefully next visit. The beautiful setting, amazing food and beverage, awesome Chef, and wonderful team of servers, made it an enjoyable experience. We definitely plan on returning, but will make a reservation next time so we can enjoy the view from a table. read more

Came here with a party of 11 and were given the best customer service by a young lady server. She went above and beyond in making our experience a memorable one. She even took us out on the patio to make sure we got a family photo out on the deck at sunset! The food was excellent! We got two types of salads and enjoyed both. I'm vegetarian and the chef put together a special plate! I was very impressed by the array of foods prepared for me! Save room for dessert - we had blueberry cobbler, pomegranate lime cheesecake, and toffee bread pudding. Each one was excellent! Great eatery in the small town of Port Orford. We made early reservations just in case it was busy. It wasn't as it was on the early side for dinner. They have a new chef and they really know how to make it work. I ordered the salmon entree and they were able to substitute the side dish for me as it had tree nuts in it. My allergies couldn't abide that. All in all looking out at the ocean and enjoying a great meal with great service was a huge plus. A great stop. We stopped at Redfish on our way from Eureka to Florence, OR. The overcast lifted as we sat at our window table. The two man wait staff was efficient. We enjoyed our Oyster Po'Boy, a delicious, drippy sando. We also ordered a garden salad (assorted lettuces, microgreens, hazelnuts, carrot shreds, caramelized onions) dressed lightly with raspberry vinaigrette. We later agreed that we should have skipped either the salad or the fries we added to our sandwich order (they were big steak fries, done just right). Hard choice. Lots of locals in for lunch, always a good sign. Nice selection of beers and wine and an extensive cocktail list, too. Highly recommended! read more

Spent our weekend driving to Oregon with the family. Seen his restaurant since it has a nice exterior and interior with the view of the oregon coast. Kinda expensive, the service is great but the food is not. The pad thai is too sour for me. The elk burger is not good and very dry inside. Their clam chowder is okay since I've tried a really good clam chowder. Only good thing about their food is their clams. Super fresh and has an umami feel to it. We might not go back again. My friend and I traveled to the Oregon Coast just for a weekend and were staying in Port Orford. Super quaint town, and my friend did some research on some restaurants to try and this one came top of the list per reviews and what not. So of course we came one night for dinner. I'm not gonna lie, walking in, it's one of the nicer places in town and reading the menu we both we both kinda got excited because we had a feeling dinner was going to be fabulous. Unfortunately, it was lackluster. The best part of our night was the beautiful view from the patio and toffee cake, that's seasonal. Other than that, everything else was just ehhh. And for the "fine dining pricing" it was underwhelming. Again the menu looks promising but the execution with flavors and seasoning is just blah. Our waitress was sweet, gave recommendations. They were out of oysters, I would've ordered those. We tried the empanadas, everything presentation wise was beautiful. But taste, these were a 6/10. The sweet potato's were the tastiest thing on this dish everything else just didn't merry well and was lacking seasoning. My friend got the chicken and the only thing that saved the chicken was the Boursin cheese stuffing. Other than that it was a tad dry and the polenta and veggies were bland. I got the lamb shank per the waitress' recommendation. Looked amazing, but the lamb didn't really fall off the bone, and there was absolutely no flavor. I swear someone forgot to add salt or any seasoning to the au jus or lamb. The potatoes were ok and the broccoli was just steamed with no seasoning either. We were just expecting to be wowed by amazing flavors, especially with the great reviews, and Oregon having a reputation of amazing food, but this was anything but. We did chat with a local later in the week and he told us that when it first opened it was amazing with great chefs, but after awhile the amazing chefs moved to bigger cities and the food just hasn't been the same. Maybe they had a bad day when we came in, but it wasn't our favorite meal. read more

Every main dish on this menu should be at least $10 cheaper. I'd go back for cocktails and appetizers, but other than that... Food: execution on plates priced at $39 and $44 ranged from sad to negligent. The lamb shank and potato's gratin were so unseasoned that my bf added salt, which NEVER happens so....you know....Then the half duck order had an over cooked leg and undercooked breast. Medium rare is proper duck temp, slimy rare is not. Taking it back, refiring, and sending it back to us overcooked was also not my fave. Duck is really hard to get right! So don't try it if you can't do it at scale. The duck was also supposed to come with a savory cheesecake- we had to ask for that since they forgot to add it. Both plates came with unseasoned broccoli...Al dente...Again, if the plates were $10 cheaper I'd probably be ok with it. Service: servers seem to have a rotation rather than sections. They were incredibly stretched thin for a place this small. No one asked me but I'd recommend team service where everyone helps everyone and tips are shared at the end. Or hire a manager who has some higher end, or high volume, restaurants on their resume (maybe both? Idk) Overall: I'd go back for apps and cocktails but fool me once on those mains and that's it, y'all! read more

Redfish is one of the best restaurants on the southern coast and has always been a favorite of mine. They have gone through some recent menu changes that leave me with questions (see the awful hamburger picture from their limited "pre-dinner" menu) , but they also produce some lovely dishes. I would recommend arriving for lunch or dinner and avoiding their "in between time" unless you want to enjoy some drinks before receiving the full menu. Reservations are also very helpful as they are small and spots are often called in advance. read more

Four of us had dinner tonight at Redfish and it was absolutely delicious! Between us we had salad, the lasagna, the fish and the chicken and they were all great. Been coming here for nearly 15 years and early on it was mostly for the view. The food was good but the service was ass. Then they hired a new chef out of PDX around 2018 I want to say and the food took a big step up and so did the service. Considering the view it was no doubt the best restaurant on the south coast. Those days have gone as they hired a new chef about a year ago. Came here on NYE, had reservations, no oysters, no clams, menu was uninspired, chicken was overcooked and the "last" halibut was no better than solid. Very good service and some legit desert saved the occasion but I'm not sure this is the guy for the job. read more

Enjoyed lunch at Redfish, and the view is a 10 out of 10 it reminded us of Maui. Just beautiful, and the service made us feel truly welcomed! I had been craving steamed clams for weeks, so I was excited to order them. Unfortunately, they were full of sand lots of crunch. The broth, however, was delicious; I just wish the clams had been cleaned first. We also tried the clam chowder, which had great flavor but was served lukewarm, almost cold. Have had many good experiences at Redfish. Not on Friday, 4/3/2026. We were greeted, served water, ordered beverages. The restaurant was not crowded: Three servers for four tables. We sat for 20+ minutes ready to place our dinner order. No beverages came, no "we will be right with you," - - nothing. The servers were chatting behind the bar and paid no attention to us - we were treated like we were invisible. I made eye contact with one server who walked right past us. It was very uncomfortable to be left just sitting there for an unreasonable amount of time. When we decided we had waited long enough, no one even came over as we got up from our table. It was not a good experience at all, and management needs to know about this experience. read more

Surprised at the negative reviews. We dined here last night to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a fantastic experience. Our server, Monica, was outstanding from start to finish. We started with cocktails and the steamer clams, which came with two nice big slices of homemade bread for dipping. Then we split the garden salad and shared the salmon and sablefish pasta for entrees with a half bottle of wine (extensive wine list...love places that offer half bottles). Dessert was a tasty peach-blueberry crisp with cinnamon ice cream. Our only complaint was the excessively salty aioli that came with the salmon...clearly someone tablespooned when they should have teaspooned. This is a popular restaurant with a classy ambience and an awesome view. I didn't have reservations on a Sunday, and it was booked up. I was kindly offered a seat at the bar, and was made to feel welcome even though they were super busy! I am not a seafood person, so I went with the Redfish burger. It arrived quickly, considering how packed they were. The service was very kind and personable. The burger was high-quality and delicious! The meat was flavorful, and the other components were top-notch as well. The white cheddar cheese had a great aged quality, and the chipotle aioli lent a smokey complexity. It was rich and messy, all of the things I love in a burger, but with some sophisticated touches. The fries were great too! I was really glad to experience one of the best restaurants in the area.
