We've been several times and each time it is consistent. I recommend this place when you want to be outside and people watch or watch the boats coming and going. A good place to pregame and watch at some appetizers. If your looking for a Michelin star restaurant, this is not it but (not a knock), but if your liking some place to where you don't have dress up and be in a relaxed atmosphere, then this is the place. I really wanted to have something nice to say. The view is quite lovely and if you go for the view you will be pleased. This is a waterfront bar / restaurant that is exceptionally popular. Why? I have no idea. When we arrived before 8pm on a Saturday there was an hour and a half to 2 hour wait. She really wanted crab legs so I decided to take the vibrating square and head to one of the bars. Service took forever at the bar. Finally scored 2 beers for $9. We waited for what seemed like eternity for our table to be ready. Once seated we were greeted in reasonable time, provided menus and sat directly in front of the band at a table covered in brown paper. We were starving and ordered the pimento cheese appetizer. This is probably the only solid positive of the evening. It is severed in a little dish with captains wafer crackers. For our entrees I chose the fish and chips and she the 1/2 lb crowd legs. It was delivered on metal trays and presented well enough. However that's where the pleasantries end. The $12 "1/2 lb crab legs" were laughable. So minimal it almost seemed a joke. My single filet of fish was crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. The coleslaw tasted overly sour. We ate quickly what was edible and asked for the check. $50 and 3 hours later we were still hungry but it was too late to rectify. We headed back to the hotel and vowed to never return if we wanted to eat. If you simply want a lovely view, overpriced and slow bar service this place has multiple levels to hang out in the crowd. read more

"Where are your scumbag friends?" - bartender to the bride at this disgusting establishment. We had a group of 15 people who wanted to spend money on drinks and shots. And this was the treatment we got. Nothing but a nasty attitude and a DIRTY bar. Seems like the bartenders weren't interested in making $500 for the restaurant or getting a tip. Came here for a quick happy hour meal and overall it was a lovely experience! My friends and I decided to sit at the bar and order a few shared appetizers. We decided to go with the warm crab dip, hot chicken sliders, jalapeño hush puppies and the pimento cheese dip. The cheese dip was delicious and refreshing, the jalapeño hush puppies were absolutely delicious and by far my favorite item that we ordered. The chicken sliders were spicy but juicy and unfortunately the crab dip was not great. Extremely fishy and could have been much creamier, would not recommend. I loved this place from the moment I saw it. They were one of the few places in town that did not require reservations, and that was good for us, because we did not have reservations. The atmosphere was very beach bar laid back. It is right on the water and had a very good vibe. There are multiple bars with no wait. The bartender was super fast, polite and friendly. The drinks were cold. We were seated within 30 minutes. My wife and I both had grouper sandwiches. The had large pieces of fish and were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The buns were fresh and soft. We also had the Calamari which was crispy with a really good sauce. My niece had a seafood dip and tortillas. She cleaned the plate. My other niece had fried shrimp and she dusted them as well. I agree with the other reviews that they should do something about the garbage smell at the front door, but once I was inside, I felt like I was at home. It was dirty, but in a good way. read more

Service was good- I would give that 4 stars, but the food was disappointing. I ordered a lobster roll and extra crispy fries. I got soft fries and a mixture of lobster, celery, and sauce on a dry bun that had simply been sliced open. Not toasted, no garlic butter or Mayo, nothing- just the bread. The lobster filling was ok, but there was too much bread and it needed some serious help. This place is where frat boys go to do frat boy-ey things with other frat boys. With that said, they're still Southern frat boys so they're still very polite. Anyway, I'm not necessarily here to judge on the clientele but instead on the food and service. The food: I had she crab soup, fried seafood platter, and smoked wings. Out of all the things I ordered, I enjoyed the smoke wings the most. They were super flavorful and juicy. The seafood platter was good as well but I can't really see fried seafood being to hard to pull off. The seafood, however, tasted fresh and the scallops were really big. The She Crab soup, I've decided, is far from being one of my favorite soups but I guess I can see why other like it. I love seafood soups like New England Clam Chowder, Manhattan Clam Chowder, and Cioppino but She Crab soup just seems too delicate of a flavor for me. If it's any consolation, I think the She Crab soup here is better than at Hall's. One thing I do very highly recommend is having an early dinner, then hopping on the sunset cruise right off of Red's dock to have a nice evening out in the harbor, then coming back to Red's and finishing off the night with some live music and drinks. Two of us sat at the bar, as some of our 7 folks (yes, on Memorial Day) wanted to eat here. Service slow, and the place was slammed, packed. The wood deck type flooring shows (and smells) its age. Maybe they could steam clean it to get the hurling smell away. (Don't know that was the source, but it certainly smells like that.) We were given a beeper and told it would be two hours to be seated for dinner. After an hour we checked, and it was up to 2 1/2 hours potentially. Was in Mt Pleasant on business and wanted to grab a quick bite for lunch with a nice view. Reds came up and I arrived with high hopes. It was a nice day and I headed for the outside bar. The view was great and it was very relaxing. The service was ok even though I was sitting at the bar. Started off with the Shecrab soup and then ordered off the menu for the main. They made me a Grilled Tuna sandwich (which was made from the Tuna Tacos). Both were ok. Nothing to write home about. I think that when you come here, you come for the view. Ate there tonight and things did not go well, Jalapeño hush puppies were cooked great but zero jalapeño flavor or bacon, had the smoked wings for my dinner, they were rubbery and very disappointing. If I was just looking for a place to pound beers with my friends in a pre-covid world, this place would have been ideal. Unfortunately the horrors I experienced were nothing close to ideal. The reality is outside of the wonderful views, everything about this establishment was an utter disappointment. We asked to be seated somewhere that was indoors but was open air since the wait for the true outdoor seating was substantial. We were told we could be accommodated and instead we were stuck with regular indoor seating. It was a crowded room, no social distancing and not a mask to be found anywhere. Not on any customers. Not on any staff. Our table was broken. Not just wobbly, but broken. We asked our server if we could move to another table but she was not accommodating to us. And then the food came. To say it was one of the worst dinners I've ever eaten would be an understatement. The food was downright terrible. We started with an order of nachos and they were the most grotesque nachos I've ever eaten. Stale chips, a drizzle of cold queso, wilted, shredded lettuce, bland, jarred salsa and a pile of tepid, unseasoned meat just thrown on top. No cheese, the nachos weren't baked. The nachos at Taco bell or your average ballpark would be gourmet compared to the slop they served us. Next, my wife and I both had Shrimp and Grits. We figured any self-respecting restaurant in the South Carolina Low Country would have a decent shrimp and grits. NOT!!!! They were terrible. It was a big bowl of slop. 4-5 unseasoned shrimp, instant grits and a glob of what was described as Tasso Cream Sauce but it was really a white gelatinous ooze that no self-respecting southerner would ever think of as a legit cream sauce. When I asked for the check, our server saw that we had only eaten one or two nachos. Instead of asking us if everything was okay, she just brought us our check and away she went. This place is great!! Crowded, great atmosphere, waterfront, and lots of seating options. I've been here twice - once for drinks and once for food and was happy both times. The pimento cheese dip was perfect to share and the grilled shrimp was AWESOME! I ordered it with 2 sauces and could eat that over and over again. Looking for a nice evening out by the water? Then look no further. This little gem is right off of Shem creek, where you can dock your boat, or drive right up. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants and bars right off of the water. They have indoor and outdoor seating, heck they even open up the rooftop occasionally. They also have 2 full service bars and one small bar they open on the weekends and other extremely busy nights. Entertainment is an understatement I have come here on a Friday night and seen bands perform live, and it's always a good selection of music. Great place to hangout and chat with your friends. Now the food... this is like the king of population seafood items! My favorite is the A L L you can eat crab legs on Monday nights ( E V E R Y M O N D A Y). It does get extremely busy so make sure to be there before 6pm if you don't want to wait to long for a seat. Furthermore, their other food selections are pretty awesome, I normally get something seafood based like bbq bacon wrapped scallops or shrimp, but the burgers and shrimp n grits are FANTASTIC! I would like to add that it's perfect for all seasons, that have heated lamps on the deck in the winter and tons of fans and AC vents in the summer. This is definitely one of my go to hangout spots and would highly recommend you trying it out. read more

Red's is where you go in Mt. P on a beautiful day to sit next to the water and have a drink. It's a perfect way to remind you why we live in this great city. As far as the food, service, and cleanliness of the place, all less to be desired. Two of my girlfriends went to the bathroom after our long drive down from North Chuck and both came out talking about how disgusting it smelled in there. I've been in there before and unfortunately know of this stench they spoke of. Leading me to hold my bladder for two hours until we got somewhere else! This visit we also got a few apps. Red's Own Creek Wing, Five choice scallops wrapped in bacon, fire grilled and basted in our own BBQ Sauce. and the Saku tuna dredged in Prudhommes' Blackening Spice. I'm pretty sure the spice on the wings and the tuna was in the south what we like to call Old Bay! That's exactly what they both smelled and tasted like. Then I went to get a bite of one of the "five choice scallops". I don't know who's choice it was to serve those, but it was inedible. And I'm pretty sure it was not a scallop. I took one bite of the overcooked whatever, and that was that. We wanted to have her return them and comp the bill, but our server was never around so we just ate the cost and paid and left. So my advise is, go with a group for a few cocktails and fun in the sun, and head somewhere else for food and cleanliness! Oh and the lot is closed right now b/c the parking garage is almost complete and you can pull in there and park on the bottom floor. A guy in a golf cart was coming and going back and forth from the lot to Red's and T&T's. It was one of the best parts of the day b/c he was so fun and drove like a mad man!!! read more

Right spot for great view and an interactive boating life style feel. This is a fairly typical bar, bar food, bar style, but a good mix of family friendly and party on! My wife had peal and eat shrimp and a burger - great. I had the fried seafood plate - it was really good and I couldn't eat the fries and half the coleslaw because it was a large portion of food. Fish was especially fresh and tasty. Didn't really expect that but it was. Drink was ok - Mule - seemed premixed and syrupy but the beers were ice cold so two thumbs up. A rustic convoluted restaurant on the banks of Shem Creek between Saltwater Cowboys and Tavern & Table in Mount Pleasant, SC. Inside and outside dining with view of the creek available. This is definitely the budget option. Lilly our server was kind and considerate and much nicer than the hostess. The food was average and on par for the cost. I liked the coleslaw and the fried fish but everything else seemed like it came pre packaged. Not that it was bad but the onion straws came out cold. My friend and I arrived 30 minutes before the kitchen closed, and we sat at the outside bar. Although it was pretty cold outside the big heaters surrounding the bar and tables made the outside dinning area very comfortable. We ordered the crab soup, and some nachos for starters. For our entree I ordered the fried seafood platter and my friend ordered a burger. Everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection and the portions alone are enough to brag about. Aside from the amazing food, and attentive staff, the music selection that they were playing definitely created a fun and relaxing vibe. Red's Ice House sits right on the creek, which allows you a beautiful ocean view. The front of the restaurant serves as a massive parking lot, allowing free and easy access parking. Overall my experience was definitely a memorable and fun one. I absolutely recommend this place and I also look forward to visiting Reds again in the near future. Underwhelming. We walked in (5/11) and the place had a 1.5 hour wait. The hostess was not very professional, barking at fellow staff and very gruff and abrupt with guests. You got the sense that they didn't care if you waited or left. We waited and made our way to the bar for a drink. The atmosphere at 6pm was a bit like a college Darty. The rooftop deck bar was so crowded and loud that I questioned if it was even safe or legal to have that many people in such a tiny elevated space. We took our drinks and left the top bar. Once our table was ready we were excited to finally eat. We started with the lobster corn dip. It was very bland and tasteless. For meals, I got the grilled seafood platter, and my husband got the lobster Mac. The seafood platter was delishious but for 39.00, the portion was lacking. Also, the pineapple slaw was so spicy that I couldn't even eat it. The mac and cheese was much like the dip, flavorless and boring. The atmosphere in the dining area was fairly similar to the rooftop bar. Loud and party-esque. The table beside us had young people coming up constantly to visit and party/drink. 6pm! I felt like I was at a college party the entire meal and was a guest onlooker. The other thing that struck me was the security guards circling around the restaurant. That should have been a tell tale sign. I would never return. The meal was mediocre, the prices were high, the atmosphere wasn't for us. Lots of better options close by. read more

The worst customer service I've ever received from a bar tender (which is saying slot) took place at the outdoor bar near the entrance the night of Saturday July 13th. A blonde young woman wearing a hat went up and down the bar twice servicing everyone else without serving or acknowledging me. She also fed atleast three rounds of shots to what appeared to be a group of her friends that hung out on the side of the bar. They appeared to leave without paying for any of them, of course. At least twice I watched her take shots with them. If you're not a friend, good luck getting any decent service in this place. Lastly, parking is terrible and expensive. Plenty of better restaurants and bars worth checking out instead. The local band that played, however, was excellent. read more

Reds has such a cool environment that it's somewhat easy to overlook the subpar food. The service however is harder to overlook. They are known for being snappy, rude, and aggressive. Even to the kindest of customers the staff is unimpressed. I have never been and had a good experience with the bartenders. read more
