My husband and I went to Renae's the other day for breakfast. We are both in the restaurant industry, and both left there saying how well everyone worked together as a team. That's huge with us. Food- I had the chicken fried steak, and my husband had the pork chops. Both our meals were delicious, and would order again. Extremely busy, but only a 5-10 minute wait. Quick turn around on getting orders taken, delivered, cleared, and set for the next group of customers. We never felt rushed to eat quickly and leave so another group could be seated. Extremely friendly staff as well. I would rate a 10/10 if it was possible. We WILL be back again soon! read more

I haven't even got my food yet but i am having a great experience so far! They are very clean here, the seats and tables are actually wiped down really good. They have refilled my coffee and water frequently, i appreciate how much they pay attention to that. Ok before i could post this review our food came and my girlfriend found a hair on her food (brown)....... i look forward to trying this place again but it sucked having a good time spoiled by a hair, every bite we were wondering if we would find another. i hope its super rare that this happened so i am optimistic! read more

We were looking for a new breakfast place on a weekday morning and decided to give this place a try. On walking in, you get that hometown feel that I love and everyone was very welcoming. We were seated right away and ordered. I had pancakes and my husband ordered chicken fried steak. We both had decaf coffee. The food came relatively quickly. The pancakes were very good, and rather sweet. I really enjoyed the bacon as well, thick and hearty. I would definitely order it again. The chicken fried steak wasn't as good; the breading was really thick and seemed undercooked. The hash browns were burnt and dry, my husband left most on the plate. The coffee was okay, but when I got a refill it tasted very bitter. I like black coffee and it was bitter even after I added creamer. For $40 with tip, I'd rather go somewhere else. read more

This place is close to where I work. I have had breakfast here a couple of times, and lunch once. The plates are big for breakfast, I think there are some who could share with a friend or SO. Today I had a patty melt with the clam chowder. The patty melt was very big, and they made it for me on sourdough as I do not enjoy rye bread. It was a very good patty melt, one of the best I have had. The clam chowder was a disappointment for two reasons- the one dollar upcharge, which would not be an issue except for the other thing. That other thing was that it was served lukewarm. The service is very good, they sit you quickly, get your drink and menus, take your order without delay. This is a very clean café. The ladies who are serving the food are very kind and helpful. A great place to eat, but watch that clam chowder-not worth it. Update- I have been eating here too much, I guess. Service can really be slow. I was here last week again. It was twelve minutes to get our order taken. Almost forty five minutes later we were fed. With one hour for lunch, that does not work out. We stopped at Renae's for breakfast this morning. We saw the food on Facebook postings and it looked delicious. You would never know the cafe is in this center so keep looking it's there. We were immediately greeted and seated. They have lots of friendly people who work here. It's really cute inside with nice roomy booths and tables. They have a large menu with lots of breakfast and lunch options and side options. I saw a lady at a table across from us with a huge bowl of oatmeal which looked yummy. We decided to go with a Bako Omelette and a Meat lovers Omelette. The bako omelette had bacon and tomato and onion topped with sour cream and avocado. The meat lovers of course was full of meat. They were both moist and the gravy is delicious. I saved my biscuits to take home. I appreciate the options of cottage cheese instead of potatoes for us watching our carbs. Pancakes please! I'm a sucker for amazing pancakes and Renae's definitely delivers. Of course their other menu items are great as well but pancakes are my thing. Service is great everyone is always super friendly especially Amber, she's extremely personable and is quick to serve. I also really love the custom wooden flags made by Renae's husband, we plan to purchase a blue line flag when we begin decorating my husband's man cave. I would give this place a zero if that was an option. The food is good, but they are terrible as far as following Covid-19 safety practices and standards. While still in purple and red tiers the owners decided to open back up for indoor dining. The wait staff does not wear their masks properly, and while they have a tent up blocking off several parking spots outside their establishment, it's not being used. The frame has been blocking off parking spots for several months while their customers take parking from other businesses! They are beyond inconsiderate and I will not spend my money here! read more

Half way through my meal I noticed you could see in the tiny packed kitchen, the kitchen staff was shoulder to shoulder, and only one of them had a mask on! Looking for a good place to grab a bite to eat has become the number one choice of breakfast and lunch for me and many of my friends. Renae and all the wonderful people that are here have become more than food service employees to me, they are precious family/friends now. I haven't ever felt as welcome anywhere as I feel when I arrive at Renae's Cafe. Everything I've had from the menu is awesome and like the service doesn't disappoint. Bottom line, you've got to try it, I just wish they were open for dinner. read more

Large portions, lacking flavor and seasoning not sure why people like it so much. Tuna melt was probably one of the worst we have had think it had Jack cheese doesn't pair with tuna. I will never return to this place ever!!! Went to go eat and no social distancing and sanitizing and no gloves and face mask, walked into the worst waitresses ever! Snotty all around, only came to take my order then rudely slides my plate across the table where my food almost comes off the plate, so unreal!! better yet, i was sitting close to the kitchen so i can see the cooks not wearing gloves, sweating, and grabbing there face while touching the food that was being served! I just saw this place next to a laundry mat I go to and thought I would try it . I called in an order and walked over to pick up the girls at the front were very polite and sweet my order was done really fast within 15 mins. Really affordable for a lot of food. I called in to have food to go. The service was great and quick. I ordered fish n chips and a side of fries. I picked up my food and ate it at home. The fish was ok. It should be more crunchier and not so soggy. The fries on the fish and chips was very soft and soggy. It was not crispy at all. This place can be a confusing find for out of towners as it's located in what the eye interprets to be an industrial park setting. However, upon successful location you are greeted with that typical cafe/diner ambience. It's a warm environment and family friendly. The food is good here and you get a lot of food for the price. The reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is this: the tables in the middle get all the air conditioning and fan circulation. It was 60 degrees today and my family got sat at a table and my children were shivering. Not sure they needed the air on yet. We asked but they didn't want to stop or turn up the temperature. Renae's is a common haunt and I was excited to go back post SIP but sadly was disappointed by the state of things when I arrived. None of the individuals dining in the restaurant were wearing masks and those who were serving DID have masks on but they were pulled below their noses. What is it with Bakersfield and thinking that having a mask that doesn't cover the nose is OK? None of the people actually cooking the meals were wearing a mask. That's the most important place for a face mask! They did have good spacing for the non booth tables and sneeze guards between the booths but they might want to use every other booth rather than every booth. I know it's hard to operate a sanitary restaurant - so many rules, am I right? - but think it's particularly important to have a sanitary restaurant during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. read more
