Flour is a little over $3. Tripa is extra. Got the pastor, brisket, and barbacoa. Honestly everything tasted very average. Not bad but not amazing either. 3 tacos was filling enough. At 8pm on a weekend, the DJ started going off and the music went way up!!! I was shocked. Ha just not what I was expecting when wanting to catch up with friends. Been there many times. Most of the times its 4 stars at most. But this last visit was very disappointing. I asked for chilaquiles with eggs. The sever informed me that there would be a small up charge for the eggs since it was lunchtime already. I didn't ask how much. I said it was fine. When I get the bill I noticed I was charged $8 for 2 eggs. I voiced my complaint to the manager and he wouldn't even make eye contact. I paid. I won't go back. Food is decent. I ordered the crunchy tacos, a few $1.50 street tacos, and the caldo de res pollo soup. The crunchy tacos I chose had ground beef and it was salty. The crunchy taco shell was stale and didn't taste fresh. It tasted like a store bought taco shell. The street tacos were good which is where the two stars come from. The meat was very flavorful and I just love simple street tacos! The soup was decent. The flavor of the broth was oily and nothing special about it. The amount of chicken versus potato's and carrots weren't a good ratio. The thigh and drumstick were very small. I had to doctor this up with my own seasoning. I really hope this place was just having an off night in the kitchen. I love to support local, non franchised restaurants and I'd like to defiantly try it again and try something different. read more

Complementary chips and salsa were good, the agua de piña was good as well. The tacos were not good, I ordered chicken tacos and it was boiled chicken (chewy parts of the chicken) The fajita wasn't even fajita, it was shredded meat with fajita seasoning. What makes this taquería worth five stars? Taquería Cristina meets all the conditions of my so-called "Trinidad de la Taquería" 1) Amazing salsa that transcends description. Cristina (a middle-aged woman who owns and operates the place) serves up a steaming-hot bowl of smokey (punch-you-in-the-face-with-flavor-but-not-spicy-heat) salsa. This is simply the best salsa I have ever tasted in my life. I even got a huge 20 ounce to go container. I also like that the salsa is served at the table very hot. The salsa does not come alone, oh no. There is a bed fellow. You also get a free bowl of black bean dip with your chips as well. 2) The place is well-decorated and clean. Cristina runs a tight ship. You will sit in apparently decommissioned church pews and marvel at the wall decorations which are from Aguascalientes. For those Mexican food connoisseurs, the food is Aguascalientes-style and the Mariscos (seafood) are Tampico style. At nights there is a live band playing all of your childhood favorites, such as "La Mariposa del Taquería" or "Mi Corozón quiere Tacos" 3) The prices are cheap; which I guess is standard for Taquerías. I've seen this place for the past few years and finally decided to stop by for some tacos. All I can say is that if your looking for some grade A, cheap Mexican tacos then this is the place. I normally prefer paisanos tacos but this place is closer and cheaper. The tacos are simple. I always go for the fajita kind. Just meat, cilantro, onions, and grilled onions and salsas on the side. I went in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon expecting a very limited menu, and was rewarded with full-on Tex-Mex. It is very good and very cheap. The best? No. Great value? Definitely. I can't claim to have tried everything on their menu. And a few of the things I have had were not memorable in any way. But their tacos are mothertrucking good. Are they the best tacos in the world? Probably not. The best in Dallas? I doubt it. But are they the best tacos under $2 in the NW Dallas area? Definitely. At least as far as I've found. And they have a variety: beef, chicken, carnitas, pastor, barbacoa, tripas, lengua, chicharron, and probably some that I'm forgetting. I prefer the pastor. But all that I've had are pretty good. And, again, cheap. They have tables, a bar, or you can walk in or call ahead for take out. And everyone is friendly. Our first impression upon walking in was that we would be getting some authentic Mexican food and we were right. This place is cheap and has some really great food. Their black bean dip and green salsa that you get it really great as they use grilled jalapenos which give the salsa that great smoky flavor. The downfall is that we had a lukewarm service. Our waitress got some of our orders wrong and didn't seem to have a friendly and welcoming air around her. When checking out, it was prompt but still felt like we weren't welcomed. I could be missing the mark and the staff could just be not as friendly and social, but we didn't feel that welcomed after leaving. Care for some tacos with your grease? I can't say I was impressed at all by this place the food was simply below average. I'm not sure what other people have eaten there but there tacos were just not very good. I may have been on what looks to be one of their worst days or I am the only person that's ever eaten bad food there. I know there are so many choices in this area but I don't think I would ever have this place anywhere on my top 20 list. I did go very early on when they were first starting so maybe they just didn't have things situated very well. Authentic Mexican food with good service and nice atmosphere. We stuck with the basics, enchiladas and a selection of tacos. Very solid and tasty. Delicious black beans come with the chips and the salsa is super spicy, but really good. The guacamole was among the best I've ever tried. I'll be back to try out the breakfast. If I could've given this place 0 stars, I literally would have. Some of my friends and I walked in, sat down, ordered water and chips, and waited 20 minutes to get served. There was maybe 8 people in the entire restaurant other than us. My Go-To Taqueria: They do most things very well at Cristina's. When dining in, they start you off with chips and a very tasty salsa and a black bean dip that is out of this world. Pick any of the taqueria staples (tacos, tortas, sopes) and you will not be disappointed - great price and good tasting. If you are feeling a like seafood, sample some of their selections like fried catfish or shrimp tostadas. Two things I do not recommend: chicharron tacos and shrimp tacos. Perhaps it is a lack of palette sophistication, but I had trouble eating both. Hints: On the weekend they do tamales - a dozen for less than $10. My husband and I first started going here when I was pregnant, we would get a bunch of beef fajita tacos and chow down. I went there today with my 10month old son and its a great family place, the wait staff is nice and they speak both english and spanish which is nice, you can go straight to the counter and get a to-go order or you can dine in. I love that they have daily specials I had the monday special which is 4 corn tortilla tacos topped with cilantro and raw onions and with beans and rice on the side and this only cost me $4.99. I love the tacos I love the dinner menu, everything is great there, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great mexican food and for a tight budget. This is one of my fave Mexican restaurant and thier tacos are some of the best! The owner is super super nice and I always have a chat with her when I'm there. I usually get togo but I have eaten in a few times and the service was good, attentive and nice . the only reason it does not get five stars from me, is because they have only recently started giving lemons and the diced onions on the side, instead of the delicious sauteed onions and LIMES. Tacos have to have limes not lemons! As a side note, yes the tacos are greasy. But these are authentic street tacos and if they weren't greasy, I'd be highly suspicious. The food is great! On my first visit I ordered the 20 tacos for $20 for my boys and I. It was delicious. So I decided to return. I asked the waitress if the same special was available, and she said yes. I ordered the same only to have the waitress return to say that I would have to order separately the same amount of tacos. Why? I'm not sure other than it would only increase the cost. So my order went from $20 to $32. I guess it was their way of getting more $ out of me. I will probably return because the food is authentic, but I'm not to happy about the way they raised the prices. I could tell the waitress was only doing her job but she was embarrassed. Great food. I generally go for the tacos or fajitas. It's family owned and open fairly late. They have a number of specials throughout the week, including 12 tacos for $9.99 (available Sunday-Thursday), which is a great deal. They carry a good selection of Mexican sodas too. On weekends, they have live music in the evenings. It can be pretty fun, the crowd is mainly Mexican and many of the staff don't speak any English (but, they can generally figure out what to get for you). read more
