San Pedro is starting to grow on me with another hidden gem! I've heard that there are many great breakfast/brunch places in San Pedro and this is one of them. My friend and I arrived here on a Saturday morning around 11am. Since we opted for first available seating, we were led outside to their small patio. The waitress took our order and the food arrived shortly after. I had the veggie scramble with breakfast potatoes and a lemon muffin. I pretty much licked my plate clean and did NOT feel uncomfortably full. The veggie scramble was made with fresh veggies such as mushrooms, mini broccoli, tomatoes, onions, and zucchini. Everything tasted "light" and not much grease was left on the plate. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked just right. I had a couple of bites of the lemon muffin and I really enjoyed the small lemon chunks, it made the muffin unique in texture as well as taste. It wasn't too sweet or dense. Service was friendly and efficient. Portions are fair. Credit cards are accepted. What more can I ask for?! By the way, street parking only, but not too difficult. read more

Usually I won't venture down to Pacific or past unless I'm headed into downtown San Pedro for some event, but Rex's is so f'ing tasty. My favorite? The French Connection with fresh fruit. I order it without melons (honeydew, cantaloupe, etc.), and it still comes out plentiful and beautiful. Get it with turkey or regular bacon inside...both are delicious. The coffee is great, too. My friend is a huge fan of the cinnamon lattes. I have yet to try one, but I trust her judgment. There's usually a bit of a wait during breakfast/brunch time on the weekends, but do not let this deter you. It's one of the best places to eat in San Pedro, and the staff is really nice and accommodating. If you can handle the riffraff hanging around in the area, it's definitely worth the wait. I came here with my three coworkers yesterday. The cafe is very clean and stylish. There is also outdoor seating. There is plenty of 2 hour parking on the street adjacent to and in front of the cafe. Our service was great. Our hostess and waiter were very friendly. The bathroom was older but clean. I ordered the Teriyaki Stir Fry with Chicken. It had plenty of rice. It was tasty. However, if I return I would not order it a second time. It was pricey for the meal I received at 8.95. My coworkers ordered the Burger Lunch, Patty Melt, and Rex's Omelet. All three echoed what I wrote above. One of my coworkers did not like her potatoes and the waitress happily changed them out for fruit. As such, Five Stars on the great service with no 'tude! I respect all opinions that I read on this board about Rex's. I also appreciate all the restaurants that San Pedro has to offer for the locals and for us who work in the area. As such, I think I would prefer eating any breakfasts down the street at the Omelet Waffle Shop. The burger..I would prefer the Brewery. Patty melt, well I guess those are good anywhere. Rex is my favorite breakfast spot in San Pedro. This place is small and quaint, but this only adds to the charm. The waitresses and busboy are all very sweet and accommodating. My family likes to come here on Sundays and the servers never miss a beat. Coffee and water stay all the way full. One of their staples is of course the green eggs Cabrillo which is great. Poached eggs are always cooked perfectly! Al dente! This past visit I had a cup of yogurt and granola with a side of one poached egg. This was a perfectly sized meal for me. The granola is made from Rex's from scratch! The low fat yogurt was great, not sweet at all and perfect level of tartiness. They topped it all with bananas which were fine. Cozy lil restaurant w a patio made for doll-sized ppl. Decently good.. Esp since there seems to be a lack of anything decently healthy in the near vicinity. Veggie omelet had carrots broccoli n the slightest sprinkle of spinach (not even sure how they managed to pull that one off cause there was such a minuscule amount hahaa) but I could see a few lil bits of it. Came w salsa verde and ketchup and a side of fruit. We were starved from the full day of swimming around a pool w no break so we inhaled it but, as hungry as we were, it still wasn't a stand out ommie.... But don't unbookmark them! it's pretty much at the top of the list as far as good options on this block so keep this place handy just in case u find yourself needing a bite. A taste of Berkeley in So Cal! Finally, a great breakfast place that feels like home! From the attractive decor to the variety of customers to the tasty and healthy menu, this is a fantastic place and worth the drive! I love how they ask if you want regular or turkey bacon, and the "side of fruit" is a bowl of fruit salad. Not the average cantaloupe and honeydew! Your other side options are potatoes or brown rice! Yes, brown rice! I feel healthier just writing this review! I had the Green Eggs Cabrillo which is eggs benedict with spinach, ham and jack cheese. Delicious! And I didn't even miss the hollandaise. I think next time I'm getting the Eggs Benny which is eggs benedict with sausage patties. Tom enjoyed the Mexican omelette with chorizo and he swapped the bell peppers for ortega chilies. I can see why. It's great. I had the Huevos Rexeros (see pic.) So good. The refried beans had a nice smoky flavor. All the food was high quality and pretty healthy for what it is. I had a pancake on the side. Glad I just ordered one. It was huge! I couldn't even finish it...but it was delicious. Our band Hutchie spent a few days recording and playing shows in San Pedro and this is by far the best restaurant around! The food was fresh, reasonably priced and the hospitality felt like someone inviting you into their home to cook for you. Great options for vegans and people with dietary restrictions. As a vegetarian, really happy here. At least 3 vegetarian egg options, the standard veggie omelette, a vegetarian chili omelette, and a soy chorizo omelette. Four stars vs. five as the vegetarian chili omelette was just ok. Wife liked the 'standard' vegetarian breakfast burrito. Will be back to try the other veggie options, the suspect the number of stars will improve. Service was great. We drink a lot of coffee and the cup was *always* full and hot. A big plus. They have 2 options, one comes with eggs and sausage but it only has two slices of French toast. The other option has no eggs and sausage but comes with three slices. I seem to be on a lucky streak. Rex's is a small cafe on the the corner and has little parking. This is a great little place that, if I lived here, I could be a regular at. The restaurant is clean and bright. The service (Jessica?) was great. Both my daughter and I had the stuffed French toast with eggs and sausage. Eggs and sausage were good and very hot, nothing special, but the toast was delicious. Not sure what they stuff it with, but with the fresh banana and strawberries it is delicious. The prices are pretty reasonable for this area. My only complaint would be the Cappuccino. Not a fan of the coffee but I'm kinda snobby with coffee. Cute little cafe that I came to for breakfast after going on a hike at trump trails. It was a Sunday around 11am and surprisingly there was only a 5 minute wait so even better! Staff was friendly too and made sure to check up on us every few minutes. Lots of choices to choose from so it made it harder to decide on what to get lol but I ended up getting the breakfast wrap with fruit. Potion size was a bit smaller than what I expected, but it was still filling. Their stuffed French toast looks delicious so ill have to try that next. Came here with some friends for brunch. I'm pretty particular when it comes to chilaquiles, so when I saw reviews about Rex's, I decided to give their's a try. I'm glad I did! They were REALLY good -- crispy, flavorful, filling. My favorite chilaquiles are from Nena's in Stockton, but Rex's are pretty dang good.
