This used to be my favorite place to watch a Packer game. I don't know if it still is. The prices keep getting higher and they got rid of $15 bottomless mimosas, replaced with an increased $16 for one single bottle of cheap bubbly. Sigh... I do like how they use the bocce ball court for tailgate style seating. Although I wish they gave more than one rinky-dink TV stand for 3-4 chairs. There should be at least 2, maybe more to fit drinks and food for multiple people. It's not enough space for purchased items and not very sturdy. The person seating customers was really weird my last visit. I arrived when they opened (early for the Packer game) and she didn't really ask where I wanted to sit (the place was 100% open) and when she tried to put me at some side table (wtf I'm here first I should get my pick), I told her I wanted to sit in the bocce area. She then said they "weren't ready". So I said to her, I see chairs, I see tables, what's "not ready"? She said there were no menus already sitting on the tables. Really? I guess I'd think anyone with common sense would simply hand me the menu. She said it was "manager's policy they had to be completely ready before I sat down". Clearly, management is having communication issues if as the FIRST customer arriving, standing outside cause I wanted to be early to get a seat, then for staff to tell me I can't sit because a paper menu isn't on the table is a real oversight. Get a clue, please. This is silly and a poor experience for the customer. Also, staff acted like they didn't know anything about the menus or specials. This shouldn't be the case. Asking about the menu are standard questions, this is something a worker should know from a thing called training. For example, what are the specials today? (Even though in a perfect world staff would be telling me vs me having to ask, but you know people get away with it, so). Staff new and old should know the specials because Mgt should tell them. That's how it works. And even worse, was when I got the answer from a staff member -- "there are no specials". Ummm, it's right in the menu once I read it, so staff shouldn't act oblivious. I don't understand why it's so hard for servers to know the menu, it's the most basic level of the job. One of them did return later to give me a printout of the drink specials of the day. So, good on them. It was 40 minutes after they opened. And after I already ordered my drink, but, k - thx. For so many people coming specifically for football, and they know this, cater to that crowd. Have game day specials for the duration of the game! I feel taken advantage of in a way now they have this Packer following and are just going to take the fun and deals away. I won't choose Rheinhaus for the next game and will go with one of the 4-5 other Packer bars in the area that I have to choose from to give my patronage to. Back in August I made a stop here before the Padres/Rockies game for dinner. Highlight of the meal was the curry wurst appetizer. The portion was generous and the sausage it self was tasty. I also really enjoyed the pretzel. It was heavier than your typical mall pretzel from Auntie Anne's, but it was still full of buttery goodness! Our visit to The Rhein Haus was the first time for us. We wanted to try German style food and beverage so decided to R H. prior to the Eric Church concert. The restaurant is on the corner of 14th and Market, at the former Old Chicago. We had reservations but still had a 30min wait. The restaurant boasts a spacious dining room but not all tables were occupied. The upstairs room was close to empty and they do not capitalize on the ample outdoor seating space. It seems staffing is the issue because we were late getting waited on as well as much time passed before for our dinner and beverages arrived. Yikes....we were late to the show! Anyway the food was ok (the goulash bland and the spätzele too cheesy). However kudos on the jalapeño brat and for having a Radler on hand! The latter saved the day! read more

My husband and I went today after he read reviews saying they had great schnitzel. Well, we started with the pretzel, which was good but salt wasn't evenly distributed and the cheese fondue was thin. We tried the pork schnitzel with apple slaw, mashed potatoes and spatzle. The pretzel breading was a lot like an egg breading, which is not good on pork schnitzel! The lemon caper sauce was also a little strange. The spatzle is different with Parmesan cheese, ok tasting. We also got the apple strudel which was partially warmed, and flavor wasn't bad but could definitely use improvement. This was our first time here. It appeared that they had a lack of servers because service was slow, and they did not seat people, even though they had empty tables. Food is meh, but I don't really love German food (sausage, meat, etc). We ordered a to-go German platter, and my husband ate most of it. I did eat a lot of potatoes... but that's not really a meal. The pretzel was really good, but you can get a soft pretzel a lot of places. We also came here for a "day-after" wedding brunch, and they were NOT ready for us. Doors were locked when we first arrived, food wasn't ready, and no coffee (for a lot of hungover folks). First I'd like to say we are of German descent and we know German food, when we travel we seek out German food restaurants. Kudos to our waitress she was wonderful, but the food and atmosphere fell flat. The Bier was great. I will say the owners have put a lot into the decor of this restaurant, but when you play rap & pop music the atmosphere is gone. The food I'm sorry to say fast food tracked. From the time you order it's suddenly on your table. We will agree the Spatzel & Red Cabbage, and potato salad were really good. The jagerschniztel with mushroom gravy left much to be desired. Pork cutlet was dry, the mushroom gravy was a thick puddle on top of meat, not a thin gravy sauce. The house made sauerkraut was very dry, no moisture to it at all. We tried the Berliners for dessert, straight out of a freezer, they were still very cold in the middle. They were not beignets as listed on the menu. The reason I reviewed this, because too much has been invested to be less than ordinary. Your staff are great but the food needs attention. If you're going to advertise as a German restaurant then let your atmosphere reflect it. Playing Adam Levine & Michael Jackson music made it feel like any other cheap food chain restaurant. Why? 1) Because they are OG Packer fans 2) they opened their doors bright and early for Pack Nation We stopped in on a recent Sunday and found ourselves right at home. The space was wide open with a bocce ball green - which they had turned into another viewing area - which totally made the most of the space! We snagged a spot right up front with the ability to see the projector screen and although the space was a little makeshift (think camping chairs and tv trays for tables) it felt totally like WI. Our server seemed to have the entire dining area and yet managed with ease. We opted for bottomless mimosas and cheese curds while others in our party chose traditional breakfast items and spiked coffee. Our waiter was quick to get us our drinks but after that he seemed to disappear. Every time we would look for him, he seemed to have found his way to the hostess stand so he could keep her company. It took us a ridiculous amount of time to get our food orders in, we then had to wait again for him to flirt with the hostess before we could request napkins, and another long gap before being able to request dessert and our check. We would be understanding if the delay was due to them being busy but this was simply not the case. The dog did come say hello though, which was a highlight. If you'd like a round of food poisoning this is the place to be. We ordered the pork schnitzel with apple slaw as well as macaroni off the kids menu for my son. After taking a bite of each it was very clear the dairy used for the sauce of both had spoiled. The apple slaw was also super mushy and tasted spoiled- not tart like you would expect for green apples- spoiled. We had to flag the waiter down and explain. He rolled his eyes and wanted us to "close out" our bill without offering for us to place a new order or have the items removed from the bill. We weren't looking for free food- neither meal had more than a bite taken out of it. It took going to the host stand and an extra 30 minutes to get a manager over to have the meals we didn't eat from the bill (because they were unsafe). The manager was apologetic and I tried to emphasize someone needs to check their dairy. Possibly a refrigeration issue? It really astounds me that it left the kitchen at all. I have never sent food back at a restaurant. I am definitely not the only person vomiting after eating there last night. Other than the clear health concerns, the German potato salad was burned (how do you even burn potato salad), half of the meat on my husbands plate was dry and overcooked, and we couldn't even get our son to eat the prepackaged cup of applesauce because upon further inspection it was labeled "unsweetened." During our post baseball wander about, we stopped in at this German themed, bocce court having drinking hole and enjoyed a beverage and a snack. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable and eager to help my boyfriend find a beer to suit his tastes. They also crafted a perfect cucumber jalapeño Rita for me - not too sweet and with a good rim of tajin. The drink had the perfect ration of sweet, heat, salt and spirit. I thoroughly enjoyed it! For snack time, we had the pretzel which was warm, buttery, salty deliciousness. Made even better with a dip in the cheese fondue alternating with the mustard - a blend of the sweet and spicy and the whole grain, per our tender's reco. I really had high hopes for this place as we love German food, but were sadly disappointed on every level. We came down here for a late lunch/early dinner today. It was really easy to find, which was nice and the online reviews left us hopeful and excited to try this place out. There was no street parking available, so we used the parking lot right next to the restaurant which had really tiny slots and cost $12 for just 2 hours. That is no fault of the restaurant but it was an unexpected expense I hadn't planned on. Upon entering the restaurant, we saw some nice outdoor seating. We walked in and the host just kind of just looked at us. I immediately indicated that we needed a table for 2. There was no "welcome in" there was no smile on his face...nothing. He sat us in the same ice-cold manner...no smile, no "enjoy your meal"....nothing. It was really offputting to be greeted in such a manner. A host's job literally is to make people feel welcome upon entering an establishment. Anyway, the 2 of us were sat at a table large enough to fit 6 people. The seating was awkward to get in and out of as it was just a long picnic-type, tall, heavy bench. After a while, our waitress came and greeted us. I ordered their Rhein Haus Lager which came in 3 different sizes: 12 ounces, 1/2 liter, and 1 liter. I ordered the 1/2 liter. The beer was cold and really good. I am used to ordering lighter beers and this was exactly that. We wanted to try a little of everything on the menu, so we ordered the small pretzel appetizer with cheddar cheese fondue dipping sauce. The pretzel came out right away. It was extremely dense and dry. The cheddar "fondue" was very running and liquidy. I had to dip my chunks of dry pretzel multiple times just to soften it up enough to be edible. For our meals, we ordered the pork schnitzel which came with a 1/2 grilled lemon to squeeze on it, a creamy sauce on top with capers, and a small mound of shredded green apple on top. For $23 I thought it would come with sides...it did not. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes, which cost me an extra $6. The schnitzel was just average in size, not worth $23 for a piece of oily, fried pork. It was not very tender at all. The mashed potatoes were semi-cold and not creamy. My daughter ordered the Denver Brat with tater tots (which were extremely salty and tasted just like the ones at Burger King) and some Kasespaetzle (cheesy spatzle). The brat was huge. She said that she liked it, although she did not finish it. The spatzle tasted extremely oily and like old oil. That is literally all we both could taste. We thought the meal could be redeemed with dessert, so we ordered the German Chocolate cake. It came in a small cast iron skillet and had a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. If there was a way to describe the taste of a "diet" chocolate cake, this would be it. It was the least chocolatey/non-sweet cake I have ever had. Neither of us could finish it. I am no stranger to German food, as having a German grandmother, I have made it many times. Everything was either dry or tasted as if it was cooked in old oil. For a total of $116 for lunch (with tip and parking), I cannot say that we will be back. read more

We were getting a bit nostalgic for our Berlin days, so we decided to come here for our monthly date night. The food at Rhein Haus is nothing like the German food we had while living in Berlin, but it's still fantastic in its own way. We started off the meal with a pretzel, which was soft, chewy and came with a beer cheese dip. For our entree, we split the pork schnitzel. It came with a refreshing apple slaw that made me feel a little less guilty about our indulgent meal. The highlight of our meal was the warm potato salad with bacon; it's quite the improvement on other potato salads I've had in my life. I must get my hands on this recipe somehow! Next time, I'll be skipping the overcooked käsespätzle, as well as the German chocolate cake that reminded me too much of an oversweetened Pizookie. Wurst Platte $14: this was a large plate with a variety of wursts for us to try. To be honest, I couldn't tell which was which, but we liked them all! This was a good pick if you have enough people and want some variety. Flavors ranged from savory, sweet, to mildly spicy. Unfortunately, it did not include the curry wurst, which I heard great things about. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The curry wurst is incorrect, the schnitzel has a cream sauce and apple slaw on top. Schnitzel is so dry it's almost impossible to cut through. The spaetzle is burnt. Pan fried is one thing but this is straight burnt. The sauerkraut is enough to make my German family cry, it's cabbage in dill pickle juice. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night for dinner and it was full of larger parties, I could definitely see why! It was a great experience for us, but it seemed like an awesome place for a group to chat and share some great food and beer. Two floors of big tables and we saw some huge platters of (delicious looking) sausages going to other parties! My favorite was the currywurst and my husband loved the sliders. Currywurst was nice and snappy and I only wish there had been a bit more curry powder on top! The sliders were a great mix of flavors and textures, the sauerkraut and slaw really cut through the bread and Schnitzel to produce a great bite. The pretzel wasn't my top pretzel (I've had many ), but it went well with the Obatzda dip - which tasted exactly like pimento cheese. The spätzle was our least favorite, but still tasty, especially after we mixed in some of the tableside mustards (three types!) to boost the flavor. Okay. I am from the Seattle around where the original Rhein Haus is, but I gotta tell ya, this Rhein Haus in Denver was just freakin' awesome! I had such a blast here! My friend and I came here for the Seahawks game, as the Mile High Sea Hawkers, the Denver 12s set up their watch parties here, to of course, cheer on the Seahawks! We knew we were at the right party when we saw the Seahawks flag flying outside the restaurant. The Seahawks party was upstairs where the entire space was taken over by 12s! The space is really open and large, with plenty of seating for a crowd. There are TVs everywhere, so no matter where you sit you have a good view of the game. There's also cornhole. There was even a 12th Man Menu! How cool is that? In addition to the brunch menu that they serve here, there is a Seahawks-themed menu offered during the games. My friend and I also had a Lyft offer for a free mini pretzel, which is what we started with, and an IPA. For my meal I ordered the chicken strips and tots, which actually was way better than expected. How good can chicken strips be? Apparently, really good from Rhein Haus. The food was alright, not my favorite German restaurant. Its kind of like a fusion there. I still miss the German restaurant in Las Vegas The pretzel was quite dry :( it comes with three dipping sauces, if you want an extra one, you will need to pay extra. read more
