Mother's Day takeout. This was seriously the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The crab and cream cheese wontons were cold and stale. The beef in the Mongolian beef did not taste like or have the texture of any beef I've ever had before. The chowmein was flavorless and the walnut shrimp was over cooked and the sauce was on the side??? Weird. $47 and it was barley edible, we threw most of it out. The new owner is from Taiwan. He owned a well known restaurant in Bay Area before he moved to Sacramento. The Taiwanese beef noodle is as good as or better than in Taiwan. If you enjoy the real Taiwanese food, this is the place. According to the owner Mr. Chong, there will be more Taiwanese food such as soy bean milk and Chinese donut in about two months. For those who only order chicken chow mein, and sweet and sour pork, this is not the place. read more

Decent Chinese food. Fried rice was excellent as was ma-po tofu. We dined in and were also given a large container of white rice. Service is good with friendly staff. I did not, however, like the way they do their General's chicken - they use battered thin slices of chicken (the kind usually in stir fry) and then sauce it. Too much sauce to chicken ratio for me - I prefer the chunks but perhaps some like the thin chicken better. Still tasted good; just not for me. Food was out quickly and still piping hot. Interior has some booth tables and a couple large tables with a lazy-susan for larger groups of up to 8-10 I think. Would come again! read more

This place is under new management. The food is absolutely delicious, with the freshest ingredients direct from the Chinese market around the corner. Try the Taiwanese beef noodle soup! I love coming here for lunch. It's rarely busy. I order take out and it's typically ready in 5 minutes. Never a long wait. I typically get king pao chicken, broccoli beef or wonton soup. All have been delicious and the portions are usually a little more than I can eat in one sitting. Staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

Food is old ): I wish it wasn't, because I love eating Chinese food, but the food here is old and stale. I should've taken the hint when I saw the place empty on numerous occasions. I've eaten here a couple of times and I'm not a fan even though I wish I was living so close. I will say I really like their potstickers which are fresh and made to order. They do take about 20 mins so call ahead or expect to get your dinner before they come out. read more

Ordered something yet when i followed up they said they didnt receive it. So i had to have my family wait again for our dinner. Got confirmation on my phone that it was received. Went to pick it up the second time around and then received a notification on my phone that it is ready on the first link that they said they did not receive..something is just not right here. Mostly more misses than hits. One of the misses was a distressingly bland and gelatnous verion of Egg Foo Young. There really was no flavor or purpose to the dish and the sauce was literally inedible. Strike two goes to the Pu Pu Platter, but in this case I prefer to call it the Poo Poo platter, because most of the assorted appetizers tasted like crap. Strike three goes to the NOT Hot and Sour Soup. No kick and no sour makes for a boring soup. In fairness, the Pot Stickers were OK but not earth shattering and the service was friendly enough. Oh, and another good thing is if you ask for spicy, as I did with my Mongoliam Beef, they make it spicy. I'm glad they did as it scorched the flavorless, rubbery beef into oblivion. read more

Seriously this place is my favorite Chinese food. First of all, if you don't get anything else, PLEASE get their pot stickers. They are HANDS DOWN the best I have ever had. They take 20 minutes to prepare, so if you are ordering take out, plan on that, at least. The family is fantastic that owns it, they have such a loyal clientele and it seems is based mostly on take out. Every time I eat there (we are actually headed there now for my dad's birthday dinner, it's his favorite place too) the place may not be packed, but you will always see someone waiting for their take out order, seemingly nonstop people pull up and grab it to go. There is another place in EDH about 1 minute away from me that I used to frequent until I found Rice Express, and I have not gone back since. I agree with other reviewers, the exterior leaves much to be desired, and there is nothing special about the inside.But the fact that they are still kicking while being one of a COUPLE of businesses in the ghost town that is Briggs Ranch Plaza says a lot about their food. I love it. I love Fat's as well, pot stickers are better at Rice Express, I do NOT like PF Chang's, if that gives you a point of reference for my tastes. When I arrived at rice express I was aw struck. The tables looked like poop and the food did to. In all it was so gross and I was sick after. I am pretty sure that that meat was human meat and was at least 10 days old. The sauce tasted like cow farts and almost made me barf. In the end the experience was horrible. The amount of English able to be spoken was a an F(fail) and was highly disappointing. This place literally sucks and I would have a heart attack if I ever have to go again. read more

Rice Express is wonderful!!! They have great food along with great service. There was a place that I went to all the time in Citrus Heights but their service was terrible when my sister introduced me to Rice Express I was soooooo happy. I drive all the was up to Folsom from Citrus Heights when I am having a craving for Chinese. This place is the best!!! Try their pot stickers, love them just call in advance to order them because they are made from scratch when you order them and they take 20 min while the rest of your order does not. read more

We've tried Rice Express several times now. Every time we have had it our stomachs have hurt later. The chicken dishes we have had are very tough and hard to eat. The flavors are good but not work the chewiness and stomach aches. Potstickers and cream cheese wontons are very good. The won ton soup is also very good and probably not to blame for stomach aches. We will be looking for a different local Chinese place to frequent from now on. read more

I was not aware there was new management when I placed my order and realized the food smelled different on the way home. Everything is different. It tastes fine, but is not the same flavors I was expecting. I think the sweet and sour sauce flavor has gone way done, as well as the cream cheese wonton quality. Went here for the first time with my father for lunch. When we entered the place we were the only ones there and there was a strange smell permeating the establishment. It was at this point that we should have turned around and frequented another establishment. However we trudged on into the unknown hoping that our initial impressions were not correct. We ordered 2 appetizers the fried shrimp and the cheese filled wontons. They also brought us hot and sour soup. The shrimp were hard and over cooked with all juiciness being purged out of them. The wontons were ok. Then on to our main dishes. My father got what he always gets which is General Chicken and I got the thai basil beef. The thai beef was alarmingly spicy with streams of sweat and regret pouring from my scalp. My fathers General chicken is still haunting him at 8:40pm as he has been to the restroom 4 times and is nauseated. If you value your digestive health I would not frequent this establishment. read more

Rice Express has been around for a long time. Their food remains consistent and unmatched by any of the other local chinese food restaurants. I recently tried their Szechuan Chicken with Chow Mein Noodles and was very pleased. Egg rolls are NOT greasy. Won Ton Soup - great. Food amount - mountains! Friendly staff and owners.... they know you by name and face. We used to love the food at rice Express but after the got new owner the food is not as good and the portions are half the size they used to be and the price has gone up I was mostly disappointed in the calamari appetizer it used to be the best calamari I've ever had with a large portion size now it's about 1/3 the size and not nearly as good and they forgot to give us our egg rolls very disappointed will never go back way over priced!!!! read more
