The presentation of food is gorgeous. Most of the rolls are spot on. Their fried rice is the bomb. The interior is cute and the service is good, except during the happy hour. I think the prices are a little much for some of the portions. HOWEVER, the happy hour is ridiculous. I get that people in Milwaukee, and on the East Side in particular, need to feel exclusive as though every restaurant is a diamond in the rough or that because you've eaten at a place you're some sort of foodie god. I get it, it's one of the more irritating things about living on the East Side. So I feel like Rice N Roll's Monday and Tuesday only 4:30 to 5:30 happy hour is just catering to people who feel entitled to be special. It's a gimmick, nothing more. Also, not all rolls are half off. Rumor has it they're going to offer ramen soon, so if that happens, I'll definitely give it a go. read more

Living within walking distance of this place is dangerous for my wallet, but oh so good for my tummy! I've eaten in twice so far and had it delivered 2 or 3 times now. Every time trying something new and delightfully surprised at how scrumptious everything is. The flavors are fantastic and the variety is refreshing. The tempora is the best I've ever had. Perfectly flaky and crunchy with a flavor unlike any other sushi place I've been to. The tempora eel roll is a fantastic example of perfect tempora. The curry dip with roti bread is also delicious, though messy to eat. The one time I wasn't totally happy is when our crab Rangoon was still slightly frozen in the center. You'd think offering Thai and sushi would water down quality, but I think it only compliments each other. I'd this was a movie, I'd give it 2 thumbs up. My new go-to Thai takeout place! I've always wanted to try Rice n Roll and I am happy to say I'll be back. If you're in the mood for great pad thai / sushi this is the place. I ordered mine to be delivered and it was at my house in less than 30 minutes (crazy!). I got the vegetable pad thai and the shrimp tempura roll. Both of them were absolutely delicious! Every time I've gone here for sushi (specifically maki), the fish is always fresh and the display so aesthetically pleasing. My friend once ordered the fried rice and it actually came out in a real carved pineapple! Start out with the deep fried avocado and spicy tuna, so yummy! I've had the clumsy bueno (Shrimp tempura, avocado with soy paper, spicy crab, tempura flake, unagi sauce & spicy mayo), call me crazy (Spicy tuna, spicy mayo, tempura flakes & Sriracha) and double tap (Super white tuna, avocado, jalapeno topped with salmon, spicy miso mayo sauce & black tobiko), all of which were fantastic choices as I always like to have at least one shrimp tempura roll and one with raw fish! I definitely have to come back to try the other rolls, preferably during one of their awesome happy hour deals as some of them can be pricey. For take out, I highly recommend the thai cashew nut with chicken. It's satisfying and texturally brilliant--and you'll have enough left over for lunch! Ordered take out for dinner and it was ready right when they said it would and the pick up was so quick and easy. I got the pad Thai with chicken for an entree and it was delicious! I had heard good things about their sushi, so thought it would be a good place to try it for the first time! I got the ACA roll and I thought it was pretty good! I have been to all of the best sushi places in MKE, and I think this has the best-tasting sushi! It is a great place to come with a group, as they accept reservations and will do separate checks if you ask. It is also great because if you are coming with people who don't like sushi (I know... how can you not like sushi?!) there is a large Thai menu that people should be able to find things to order off of. The presentation of the sushi here is often really cool... huge boats, and things like that. If you were celebrating something special, I bet you could ask for it if you wanted! It's a nice small place. The sushi counter looks very clean and the chefs have decent knife skills. The rolls I have had off of the menu were very good, but the lunch specials looked and tasted like leftover gas station sushi. If you stick to the more expensive stuff, you will be very happy. Had to try this place about a dozen times before writing this review, you know for quality control... Spoiler, all dozen encounters have been fantastic. After a particularly long weekend on indulging in a few cocktails sometimes you just need to order some carry out and after 6 years of living here Rice n Roll has established itself as my go to carry out destination. I have never actually eaten in the space but its a nice little spot with some good outdoor seating, Ill have to make that a priority. Down to the dirty deets, the food here is just impressive. My go to is the Thai Cashew Chicken, and my god is it delicious.(ive had most the chicken dishes and nothing is bad) This place must have have a garden in the back because the vegetables are really fresh. Next up the chicken, we have all had some pretty awful chicken from an Asian carry out place. You can tell that Rice N Roll has chose a higher grade of chicken and that alone is enough to keep me coming back. Located off Brady street, rice n roll is one of my go to Asian restaurants in Milwaukee. It has a great menu of Asian fusion that pulls from lots of different cultures and cuisines. Rice n roll offers not just a great dinner menu, but also a lunch and take out menu. I've used rice n roll for everything from delivery take out on weekends to lunch dates to large party birthday dinners, and I can say that the service and food has always been great! Some favorites are their various sushi's. Crunchy shrimp and eel rolls are very affordable for high quality sushi. With the option to upgrade to black or brown rice it is definitely worth the price. For appetizers, the spring rolls are very unique. They're served cut up in single bite servings with a shrimp on top. I know when I eat spring rolls that my favorite part is eating the shrimp so having some in every bite is a pleasant surprise. Another favorite are their fried rice options. The offer a Caribbean served in a pineapple, basil which reminds me of Vietnamese fried rice, and the restaurant named rice n roll fried rice that comes with an assortment of vegetables protein and nuts, served in a edible fried bowl. I've had all of these options and can't chose a favorite out of the three you can't go wrong with any of them! For desert, I'm a fan of their coconut ice cream. Their two nations lunch menu is very affordable at $10.95 and has huge portions. I had a noodle entre and sushi options and had leftovers afterward. Rice n roll is a Asian great option in Milwaukee and has been a frequent go to for me. Great and friendly service every time! They were very welcoming and even helped cater to our 10 person party when ended up taking over half their booths. Some tips are to come prepared to look for parking. Street parking can be a hassle sometimes and the parking lot near by has always been full when I went. The crab rangoons are not worth the price. They are like the size of a tater tot and you get 8 for $7..... That seems ridiculous. I can justify spending that much on 8 if they are normal size but this was far from worth it. Another thing is that I ordered this as delivery and was quite disappointed. Not only did my order take well over an hour to deliver but my order of crab rangoons were actually ice cold. I understand that food is losing heat while out for delivery but this was frigid. It was pretty good--full of grape tomatoes, mushrooms, and chicken. Not like what I was used to in Thailand by any means, but tasty. I had the special salmon toro nigiri; it was presented nicely and very good. The beef salad, made spicy, was also very good--I liked the apple bits. Unusual for this type of salad, but it worked! The layout of the menu makes no sense and is totally confusing let alone hard to really determine what you might want to order. The young waitress was very sweet, the food good but as mentioned, the menu challenging. The waitress was on top of a garlic allergy of one in our party. It was very nice to see her concern and the serious approach that the kitchen took to be sure that they were sensitive to the allergy! I would select by pictures on Yelp rather than try and read the menu. In any event, enjoy a meal in this tiny restaurant. Oh, they have a "Happy Hour" from 5:30-6:30pm.
