They're like the only Sri Lankan spot outside of LA. Super friendly service. Gotta get the lamprais and the coconut sambal. Hope they bring back string hoppers. Small little restaurant with like 5 tables. Can get packed.

Hoppers with Kithul Pani (not on the menu)

We went back to Rice N Spice and ordered a bunch of food to go. The restaurant is clean and well kept, but a bit small. The staff was so friendly and kind and even found some Kithul Pani (which was not on the menu) for me to eat with my hoppers as it was a favorite memory as a child in Sri Lanka. All the food was freshly made and absolutely delicious!! It made for a perfect picnic. We will for sure go back again.

A very cute little space behind Disneyland. In Anaheim. Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and limited menu options. Searing isn't spacious but lot of customers were taking carry out orders. We got the biryani and the godamba roti We're very good Highly recommend if you wanna try something new!

Rice N' Spice is one of the few places where you can find Sri Lankan cuisine in SoCal. You'll definitely want to try the Lamprais (curry and rice), Hopper (curry and rice flour crepes), and String Hopper (curry and rice flour noodles). With each dish, you get to sample a variety of different flavors. Hoppers: The hoppers are round basket-shaped crepes made of rice flour and coconut milk. The crepes are thick and fluffy at the base, thin and crispy at the edges. One has a soft egg, while the other three are plain. The beef is tender and the spices in its curry sauce is tasty. The coconut sambol is a flavor booster of freshly grated coconut, shallots, and chilies. I like to tear off pieces of hopper, add meat, scoop some lentil-based vegetable curry, top it with coconut sambol, and mop up the curry. Lamprais: After unwrapping the banana leaf, you are rewarded with rice cooked in broth and topped with a curry of pork belly and eggplant. You'll notice spices such as cinnamon and black pepper. Hidden within the treasure bundle is a fish cutlet, which is a crispy croquette filled with minced fish. The pineapple curry is sticky and sweet. Break up the hard boiled egg and use it to sop up any remaining sauces. Ordering: You may have to wait a bit for someone to show up at the counter. After you order, your food will be brought to your table when it's ready. Dining Area: It's a cozy space with six tables. Parking: There's an L-shaped strip mall lot.

This is the only local Sri Lankan restaurant and it is amazing! The staff is incredibly friendly and always welcoming. The food here is unique and delicious. I love the godamba roti with any of their curries. Their sambol is my favorite anywhere. I take it home and use it on my sandwiches. I can't recommend this spot enough

If you want to try Sri Lankan cuisine, you can try Rice N Spice in Orange County. They have a variety of items on their menu. Service is quick and the food was delicious. I tried their Godamba roti which came with 3 sides. Everything here is delicious.

It was our first time trying Sri Lankan food. A co-worker recommended for us to eat there and did not disappoint. We ordered the #2 lunch packet, #4 lamprais, #5 pol roti and #6 roti dish! They were amazing and had great flavors. Then we tried the pink drink called Faluda. We also tried the desserts like sago and the other dessert with cardamom and nutmeg! We took photos with the owner and she gave us some snacks! Thank you we enjoyed the food very much!

On our quest to try new cuisines, we discovered Rice n' Spice and had a great experience. We ordered the Kottu Roti, Hoppers (Sri Lankan crepe/egg crepe), and the Lamprais. All were ordered mild, but there was still a good kick. Favorites were the Lamprais and Kottu--both had rich flavors with a great balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. They also offer complimentary water from a dispenser, which helps cool things down. The restaurant is small with about five tables (first come, first seated). You order at the counter even if you're dining in. A lot of people were picking up to-go orders, so it felt a bit cramped near the counter with folks waiting close to the tables. Overall, I would recommend trying this place out!

    #19 String Hoppers

I can't believe there is such amazing Sri Lankan food just right outside of Disneyland for amazing prices. I've had Sri Lankan here in California only a handful of times and this spot is easily the best I've had in my life (so far). Their menu is vast with a lot of different proteins and sides included, and you get to pick how you eat them (think of it like a carb of choice). I was thrilled to see so many vegan, plant-based options here to choose from, so this was a hard decision. We ultimately decided on #6) Pal Roti Combo and #19) String Hoppers, both with veggie curries and spicy coconut sambal. Each was priced at $16 and let me tell you, it came with a lot of food. The coconut roti was delicious and coupled well with the curry, jackfruit, and sambal. The rice noodle patties were such a fun way to enjoy everything as well, almost like a chip or tortilla. Everything tasted great, had an awesome kick, and filling. While the ambiance inside isn't amazing, it's still a comfortable spot to dine in and enjoy some fabulous and unique South Asian island cuisine. I am so ready to come back again and try more of their dishes because everything was just A+. -- Funny enough, I had this twice in one day. I was attending a friend's wedding party and he ordered the same food from here for my vegan friendly meal.

First and foremost this place is best! And! I did forgot the name of the food that we ordered, not a great help on it but! Show them the pic! See my pic! You'll drool over it! It's best! Seriously like best!!!! The spices are wild but not too taming on the flavor! And!!!!! Freshly made with awesome plating! That egg stays well in the middle! Oh my! Definite best time here! I skipped the spoon though... used my hands instead! The service is good and fast and the place is clean! Price wise, it suits the best you can get!

I can't remember if I've tried Sri Lankan food before but this was a refreshing, enjoyable experience! As soon as we walked in, someone walked us through all the popular items on the menu and took time to explain what each one was. There are dishes with rice as well as their version of rice noodles. This is more of a self-serve kind of establishment where you order at the front counter, pick up water and utensils, and bus your own trays after. I forgot the exact name of what I ordered (it's number 3 on the menu and apparently one of the most popular) but it had lamb (you can choose your protein), seasoned rice, a boiled egg, and some veggies, all wrapped up in a banana leaf. The meat was tender and seasoned well, and I enjoyed pairing it with the rice. I got to try some of my friend's roti as well and it had a subtle flavor. The parking lot is small and limited (shared with other businesses in the strip mall) so you might struggle to find parking if you come here during busy hour. We came around 7 pm and luckily found a spot quickly. The space is relatively small, with a 4-5 tables that seat about 4 inside, and food comes out quickly. I would come back to try more items!

Chicken Lamprais ($16.99). So good! 1/12/2024

I am still in love with the food at Rice N' Spice! This is the only Sri Lankan place that I go to and it continues to serve up delicious food! I always call ahead to place an order for pickup. Wait times vary, but it generally takes them 45 minutes to prepare the food. Occasionally, their phone lines are so busy that I can't get a call in even after several tries. That's frustrating, but I can understand since they only have one person working the front and a few people in the kitchen. I wish they had more people working here to cut down on the wait times. My stars are for the quality and taste of the food and it is phenomenal! My go-to here are the Godamba Roti with Lamb ($17.99), Chicken Lamprais ($15.99), and Chicken Lunch Packet ($15.99). It's a small place that is self-serve only. I personally don't mind since I always get my order to go.

I was comfortably surrounded by locals, which always makes me feel like I've found something special. I sat at a small table for two by the window. The lighting was warm and sunset-like--bright enough to read the menu and feel alive, yet ambient, like the height of golden hour. The space felt sophisticated but still chill and low-key. It was airy, almost like dining inside a series of curtained cabanas. The service was excellent: attentive without being stuffy or haughty. When I asked for recommendations, I received confident and specific answers. The food arrived fairly quickly, and my appetizers came out with perfect timing, giving me plenty of time to enjoy them before my entrée arrived. I ordered the Mackerel Croquette and the Shrimp Kurrypanada. I enjoyed both. The croquette was mild and flavorful without tasting fishy. The shrimp kurrypanada had deep flavor, and there was shrimp in every single bite. I give both a 7.8/10. Next came the Mango Pineapple Lassee. Perfection. Not too sweet and not too thick. I almost drank the entire thing before my dinner arrived, but somehow managed to hold back. By the end of the meal, though, every last drop was gone. 10/10. For my main course, I ordered the Deviled Chicken. It tasted like Sri Lankan soul food--deeply spiced and tossed with fresh tomato, onion, and bell pepper. Smoky, spicy, and absolutely phenomenal paired with the fried rice, which was lighter and airier than Chinese fried rice while still holding its own flavor-wise. I give it an 8/10. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and flavorful food. So yeah... I left here feeling like I had just returned from a solo trip to Sri Lanka.

This is a mostly takeout / grab and go spot, but there were a few tables inside and outside as well for dining in. It's a small shop with a variety of menu items kept in heated trays at the front + some items made in the back kitchen as you order. They had their mango lassi already in cups placed in a fridge that you can just grab after ordering. Prices are fair and portions are big enough where 1 entree + rice + naan was enough for 2 to share. PARKING : Plenty of parking in a shared parking lot with the stores in the plaza, you won't have an issue with finding a spot! FOOD/DRINKS : Butter Chicken - Comes with a big portion of rice! Overall I would say this is more mild in flavor than other butter chicken that i've had. Good portion of chicken and it was soft, but I felt like it needed something a lil more. Prob not the first place i'd go looking for butter chicken, but not bad for the value. Garlic Naan - big portion, came out warm and soft. good to dip in the butter chicken! Mango Lassi - Typically I know mango lassi as a sweet, creamy mango yogurt treat. Howver, this one was less balanced and leaned more heavily on the yogurt, which was tart. I didn't taste much mango (perhaps this was an off-batch). I did not finish it but might try again next time to see if it's better!

The inside has a mom and pop feel. Seating is limited and most people do takeout, but they do have…read moretables inside. Everyone that I have encountered there has also been super nice and offer samples if you aren't sure what to pick. I was pretty iffy on Indian food previously because the first time I tried Indian food (at another place) I had terrible stomachache afterwards. This place really changed my mind. The food is great! My favorite is the Black Pepper Chicken, Veggie Korma and the Eggplant. Most things have a nice kick to it. The Garlic Naan is always recommended, but the regular Naan is pretty good too. The size of the Naan is huge! I'm not sure if that's normal, either way it's a great portion and always have leftovers for the next day or two. Definitely recommend trying this place.
