I have to add my voice to the developing chorus of raves for this local repair company. This morning, while finishing up some laundry, our dryer let out a bang, and then its running got significantly quieter. It turned out that the drum had stopped spinning...Damn! After a brief and feeble attempt at figuring out what was wrong, I quickly concluded that I was beyond my depth and turned to A friend and she told me about Richards Applaince . I called them and steve the tech came out that afternoon here is how it went - Found a shoddy part inside the dryer, and offered to replace it for a very reasonable price (it was a cheap pulley that clearly contributed to the wearing down and eventual breaking of the belt). - He also helped me replace the terrible ductwork in the back of the unit that was trapping tons of lint and blocking the exhaust from the dryer, killing its efficiency. - Got underneath the whole washer/dryer unit and adjusted the feet, leveling the unit properly so that the washer drum could spin properly. Through all of this, I could tell that he felt a sense of responsibility for not wanting to leave me with a unit in bad working order, and wasn't trying to scam me into spending more money. And the final bill proved this out. The extras only cost me about $40 on top of the original work order of replacing the belt. These are honest and forthright people who I can fully recommend for any appliance or A/C problem you might have in your home. It's sad reflection on our society when finding a company like this feels like a major achievement, but regardless, I want to help spread the word. I will be purchasing my next Appliance from them for sure and not from lowes or home depot where they have noooo service at all read more

First - I am not sure of the other review's on this site. Since calling them a week ago, it has been nothing but a great experience. First phone call - I tell them about my dishwasher issue (granted it is 14 years old) and they listen. Then I ask about an appointment, and they say how's tomorrow? Wow, no wait. That is great. They show up next day, and diagnose the issue after taking a hard look at the machine. Technician goes back to the store, then calls me with part information, says if the parts doesn't work, they will return it. So I am only still into the initial visit diagnostic charge (plus any other labor and only the part price IF it works). Wow, can't believe it!! 4 days later, I get a text that the part is in and to call and schedule. So I do, and guess what? They have time the next day!! (Less than 5 days before Thanksgiving!) I had to change the time and they gracious helped to move it out 1 more day (actually tried to get me in that morning of my appointment first). Technician shows up, and in 30 minutes, had the part replaced and so far so good. Said to let him know if there are issues, since it is an older machine and we only tried it a few times. Really good person!!! I highly recommend giving them a call. Family owned business and they are looking to provide good, quality service, something we lose with the big box stores! Remember - sometimes in life our attitudes can make a big part of our experiences. If we try to treat each other well, it's amazing what the pay if forward model can bring to us. I called Richards Maytag yesterday, Wednesday November 19- looking to have a dishwasher installed by Thanksgiving. Nobody laughed at me, as they did at several other local appliance stores I called. In fact, the owner encouraged me to come and visit the showroom, I did this on my lunch break. He helped me pick out a dishwasher. He was kind and considerate, no high pressure sales. Would you believe it was installed today- ahead of the window they had given me yesterday for installation. There is also a piece of mind that comes withe the fact that they stand by their products! They had tried to help me fix my piece of crap two year old, very expensive Bosche but it had a damaged mother board and NO repair service! (I bought this at Tri-City Sales in Ipswich, MA- Buyer beware, they told me to contact the Bosche 800 number!)the service at Richards Maytag is unusual today's throw away world is an understatement. I don't usually write reviews but this one is well deserved. I went on-line and diagnosed my fridge inop with posted videos, went to this store because they were the only ones in a 60mile radius that had the fan I needed. I installed the new fan,didn't work. I suspected a faulty new fan according to videos on diag so I returned back to store. The Gentleman ( I believe was the owner) did NOT give me hard time in any way. He went upstairs ,grabbed a new one and helped me bench test it at his store...we couldn't get either one to work. He took my number and gave me the new fan to try. On my way home I received a text message on how I was testing incorrectly. With his help I got my fridge up and running again for under a $100. To replace this fridge would be over $4k so I will be referring Richard's Appliance to anyone with appliance needs in the future. Our refrigerator died unexpectedly after a power outage. It was very old do we decided to replace it. Unfortunately we were on a time crunch because it was a rental property and the first tenant of the summer was arriving in a week. I called Richards, gave them the max dimensions I could fit and asked what they had in stock and how soon could they deliver if I purchased an in-stock fridge. The woman on the phone was very thorough and gave me my options. I selected one and they were able to deliver, install, and take away the old one two days later. We have also had them at that same house to repair the oven and the cooktop. We have been very pleased with the service we have received. I prefer to use local businesses so I am grateful for our experience with this one. read more

First, Rick from Richards Appliance came out when our dishwasher was leaking and found a faulty seal in the door. Didn't try to sell me a new one and for the cost of a new part and labor, we got 14 more months more out of the unit. Second, the next year our dryer just wouldn't turn on. After checking the circuit breaker and thinking it was dead, had Rick come out again and he found a loose connection in the controller and now it's working normally again. If he told us we needed a new one, we would've believed him, BUT HE DIDN'T! Honest, competent service in a time when you don't expect it any more. You just can't ask for more. read more

I have been doing business with Richard's for 20 years now and continually find him to be professional, prompt, and courteous. I have a 3-family home and need more appliances than most folks do (I have bought 5 stoves, 5 refrigerators, 2 washing machines, 1 dryer, and 1 dishwasher during this period). His pricing is fair, deliveries prompt, and repairs work - no extra visits because the appliance wasn't fixed right the first time. That said, I do often use Consumer Reports to make decisions for appliances, and a few times, Richard's didn't carry what I had set my heart on, but I have bought roughly 80% of my appliances from him. read more

We recently had several appliances break down over a two month period. We looked at several stores and felt like we got the most information from Richards Appliance. They also honored their sale price, even though the sale had ended over a week before. We were very happy with the ordering and delivery process. Since then I have gone there with questions, looking for other items etc. They are always helpful and have gone above and beyond...even getting me a free stovetop after a boiled over pot of water left stains on our new stove. My dryer was stuck on Sensing mode. I wrote an email to Richard's Maytag, using the website, and received an answer first thing the next morning. Bill sent me a schematic of the part that was probably giving me the issue. I was able to remove the part and bring it down to the shop. Bill performed an electrical test on the part and sure enough it failed. He actually gave me the new part for free! Thanks again Bill!!! I have been doing business with Richard's Appliance for many years. Our appliances have all come from them over the years and the installations have been top notch. We have also used them for all the servicing over the years and would not use any one else! The last refrigerator we purchased from them had an issue and they responded quickly to try to fix the problem. Within days, they replaced the refrigerator no questions asked! I was in their store Monday for just a few minutes. Only because as soon as I walked in everybody's attention was on me. Of course I went to the pretty lady at the counter. She ask for my my telephone number entered it in the computer She sent up an appointment to look at my washing machine that I did not buy from them Craig the technician came out the next morning and removed a small wire from the washer pump He told me to try it and if the pump failed within the next 30 days they would come out and charge for the part only So far so good I would recommend them as a good honest company read more

My parents are in their 80's and their fridge went down during the covid quarentine. I called Richard's and while he was not doing service calls, he immediately offered to walk me though the issue. This included him diagnosing over email. He sent links to videos on how to make the repair and waited for me to show up at his store to get me the part I needed. By far the best service I have come across in a very long time. Talk about being there for his customers. I thought this is important to share with all of Richards customers. My friend went to Richards for dishwasher parts on 09-11-15 and was greeted by the owner who promptly located the needed parts. Richards appliance has always been a great company to work with. Most recently, we called because our dryer was not working. We do a lot of laundry every day with pet bedding and blankets, so even one day without a dryer and we get very backed up. They were able to come out the next day to repair it.
