We have used Richard's Chem-Dry several times over the years, and have always had excellent service. The last visit was a couple of weeks ago. Matt did an excellent job, and really worked hard on a couple of problem areas we had. He was very thorough and careful to not damage furniture and adjacent areas. The carpets look great, even though they are several years old. It is a very professional family owned and operated business beginning with the appointment scheduling, text reminders of the upcoming appointment, and contact prior to arriving. I'm so happy to have found Richard and his (family) business. As someone who worked as a Chem-Dry carpet cleaner for my dad throughout high school and college, I have been convinced that this is the best process for cleaning carpets. We used another Chem-Dry that went out of business, then tried Stuart, which used to be a Chem-Dry but they're doing their own thing, and it's just not as good. Richard has been doing this for over 30 years, he does a great job, really knows his stuff, and he's really personable. Their scheduling system gives reminders by text and e-mail, they were on time and efficient. In fact, they had two full sets of spray-and-buff equipment (no nasty truck-mounted hot water extraction) so Richard cleaned downstairs while his son, Matthew, cleaned the upstairs. Brilliant! Richard came out to me for an emergency wine "oops" spill on the sofa. I emailed and they were out to me in less than an hour and a half (after hours, no less). I thought the sofa may be done for, but Richard went to work immediately and in no time, the sofa looked as good as new. He was quick, efficient, and friendly. Found Richard's Chem Dry on Yelp. They did a great job of cleaning the carpet in my Downtown High Rise condo. They all have to use the portable machines in a high rise so you need to find someone good. They were friendly, professional and the carpets look great. It was easy to book. They did not try to "up sell" me with additional add on products that many of the carpet cleaners do. The carpet were fully dried in less than 3 hours. I would recommend them highly. read more

This review is based on the customer service I received this morning from Richard's Chem Dry. I had scheduled them a couple of weeks ago to come down to Ocean Beach and clean a white chair which I thought they had cleaned a few months ago for me. Turns out, I had called a different company than the one who cleaned the chair previously. However, Richard and Matt (?) arrived right on time, and that was a feat in and of itself as it was pouring rain this morning and they had quite a drive all the way to OB. When they arrived they looked over the chair, spent a fair amount of time discussing and reading cleaning instructions on the bottom side of the chair cushion and advised me that they wouldn't be able to clean the chair after all, as it is linen and cotton and needs to be DRY cleaned which wasn't possible for them to do. They explained the reasons for that along with sharing some other valuable information with me and went on their way with nothing more than a friendly "Happy Holidays"! I wanted to share this experience on Yelp as it's not always the norm when it comes to customer service. I will absolutely be calling Richard's Chem Dry next time I need upholstery or carpet cleaning that doesn't require a dry cleaning process. I have had a carpet and sofa cleaning by some big name carpet cleaner and they did not do as good a job as these guys did ! I chose them because they provide kids safe carpet cleaning. I think their company name "chem-dry" can be misleading because they DON'T use chemicals! They were on time and the carpet was very clean afterwards. The bonus was that since they don't have to use lots of water, the carpet ried much faster than usual carpet cleaning. My experience with Richard's Chem-Dry was not so great. First while vacuuming the carpet in the living room he hit my baseboards twice with the vacuum. The carpet machine that he used was not the same machine that I seen on the Chem-Dry website, it was some old beat up looking machine that looks like it's used to polish floors not clean carpets. When he finished cleaning the carpets and left, I checked the carpets in the two bedrooms and they were DRY like they were NOT cleaned at all. The carpet in the living room and hallway were damp. it looks like he was in hurry and did not do a great job on cleaning my carpets. So I was disappointed in the work expected better. read more

I hired Richard a few days ago for a three room seven hundred square foot apartment. I was suppose to pay sixty five dollars and then some for his special chemical solution for pet stains, and odors. When he came out to the apartment he tried charging me a extra thirty dollars because my dining room connects to the living room even though it is advertised on living social for three room seven hundred square ft for sixty five dollars. I also asked Richard to focus on two areas of my carpet he did not do as I asked. The equipment that he was using was also below mediocre it looked as if he was using a floor buffer on my carpet. Please do yourself a favor never hire this guy. read more
