Wow, I used to hang out there back in the late 70's and early 80's with my now ex-husband. It looks like they kept a lot of the old wood.

We made a reservation at Over/Under. When we arrived, there weren't a lot of people yet and we got seated quickly at a table already set up with our name on it and lots of fun swag. By the time the game was starting, it was packed. TV's lined the walls all the way around so every table was a good table. No one blocked our view. We each received 5 drink tickets and 2 meal tickets. In addition to the fact that we wiped the floor with Kansas, we met some really nice fans from Chicago. They made our visit so much fun, filled with endless laughter and a great time. It was a nice mix of young and older folks like us and the young people were so respectful and friendly. It truly was a pleasant surprise. They gave us their bar stools with backs so that we would be comfortable. I don't know if Steven David, who we also met there works for the bar but he was funny as all get out. He says he's a comedian so if you're in Chicago, look for him at a comedy club. The owners were very friendly and we appreciated chatting with them too. We didn't get to our second meal or order half of our drinks bc we were having such a good time so we gave them away. The pretzels were good and nachos weren't bad. Edible. They also offered free opps for prizes and you could also buy tickets to win prizes. Overall, we really enjoyed our time. Nice neighborhood bar feel, surrounded by great humans, including the owners.

You can place bets and enjoy drinks along with food specials like their $4, 6, 8 and $10 happy hour deals or the $8 and $10 large drinks. There are tvs EVERYWHERE so you're able to not miss a game and watch multiple sports at once. My brother and I tried a few menu items, but our favorites were definitely the wings with the Dragon sauce (sweet chili, sesame, soy and ginger) and the sautéed shrimp with potatoes. Be sure to try their cocktail called "Uncut Gem" and check out the Red Zone room! Enjoy!

I think there were some kind of corporate happy hour happening in the back, but a friend and myself just came in for quick drinks. I usually don't drink on the weekdays, so I ended up just getting an iced tea and him a tequila soda, but because I don't drink, we decided to get an appetizer and we browsed the menu for a minute and ended up splitting the Parmesan chicken egg rolls. Truthfully, I really just wanted to see what that would entail because it seemed a little disgusting or maybe even some kind of high-food, but to my surprise, it was actually a really crispy skinned pizza roll. I'm pretty sure it had been previously frozen, but in that moment- served with a side of marinara, I didn't really care. It was full of gooey melted mozzarella cheese and almost like a breaded chicken nugget center. Pretty decent as far as bar food goes. They also had crab rangoon to which I thought, "hmm are they doing a little too much?!" I'm sure drunk me would have gotten them years ago so what can ya do. Overall, quite a positive experience. The bartender was really sweet and everything wasn't super expensive. I've been in the neighborhood for such a long time, but I've actually never been here and I'm glad I came on a night that it wasn't chaotic.

We saunter up to our chosen restaurant only to find a sign on the door that says, "closed for private event." Did I mention I was hangry? My husband suggests Jake Melnick's. It was within walking distance ... did I mention it was raining that night? And I was hangry? I was game for anything at that point. We arrived and waited probably four minutes for a table. A couple of the adults ordered a beer, the others ordered a Coke. We ordered a large pretzel and our mains. The pretzel was so good. All the meals were outstanding (a sliced brisket sandwich, some wings, chicken tenders, onion rings and a burger). Service was great. It was a little loud when we first arrived as there was an intense Illinois State basketball game on but as soon as the game ended, it was much quieter. We really enjoyed our meal at Jake's!

That usually was a more heated rivalry when Angel Reese was playing against Caitlin Clark, but after the Sophie Cunningham/Carrington situation, this was certainly heated! But this is SO not about that. I had wanted to come here for a while, but it is very far from where I am; I was able to coordinate a visit to Market Days later, so it worked out. We arrived in time to watch some of the Women's professional baseball game in Springfield as well. We took our seats at a table with chairs near some of the many tvs. (I did not want to do the long bench, it did not look comfortable). There were no waitstaff walking around, ordering was through the bar, and water was in a big Igloo container. We knew in advance there was no food, so we brought our own. We found out later they have a microwave when we smelled popcorn! Good to know for next time. There was a slight glitch with the tvs; at some point, Men's Golf was on! Of course they changed it up asap. We were hoping to watch part of the WNBA and the Women's baseball at the same time on the 2 tvs near our table, but they only moved it to one tv that we had to crane to see. I get one has to go with what is popular, but the tv with the baseball did not have great reception. The drinks were good, I got sparkling wine and beer. My party got vodka drinks; the bathrooms are both gender neutral of course, with funky red or green lights, as well as a disco ball! That may be a bit much for some of us with vision problems or the color blind? They encourage one to take bathroom selfies with an Instagram handle on the mirror! That's..interesting. I loved the free feminine hygiene products as well, good looking out! I went to the patio to take pictures. There was not tv out there, but I am not sure if they move one there when there is overflow, or if it's just a socializing space away from tvs. It's nice, but the view is of other houses and parking lots. The bartenders were efficient and good, I may go back for WNBA semi finals or finals, or maybe a 'regular' women's sports occasion. We were fortunate that the crowd was moderate so service was good, but I worry if it becomes hectic when it gets super busy.
